Foods on days you exercise a lot?

I would keep in mind that the calories you burn while exercising is not added to your daily calorie usage...if that makes sense. When a machine or app for example says you burned 500 calories an hour it includes your basic calories just to stay alive also. For example a basic metabolic rate calculator gives me approximately 1858 calories a day I need just to maintain my weight. Now if I exercised for 60 minutes and supposedely burned 500 calories during that hour I did not burn 1858+500 calories for the whole day because the hour I was exercising included my bmr during that hour also. But back to your question, I think as long as you continue to lose weight it is not a huge concern. I hit many stalls mainly because I wasn't getting enough calories in when I started exercising. Also I almost fainted a few times while working out which is not good. I do think there is a point when exercising is too much, but I think your body will tell you when that time is. If you feel fine, strong, and you are consistently losing weight, then looks good to me. I usually don't get hungry the day I exercise a lot, but the day after man my calories almost double and I FEEL hungry. Everyone has a different tolerance level, but I think you are doing extremely well (I know because you are my friend on myfitness pal ) keep it up. I know I can get obsessive about the gym because I like that feeling. I have sincerely tried to up my calories to about 1200 because my body was giving me signals that it couldn't handle the intense training I was doing. I guess just feel your body out. Your body will tell you if you aren't getting adequate nutrition for your level of activity. mine did!
  4. I think it is hard not to compare yourself to others. It is just life and social norm. I also think people can be overly emotional after they have surgery. I mean our bodies just went through a major change. I do not post about being a "slow loser", but when I see people who have lost more than me and they have had surgery just recently I do start to compare. I don't get depressed. I just want to know if there is anything I can do better. One of my major obstacles was that I wasn't getting enough calories to maintain my lifestyle and I kept hitting stalls. I agree about some posts. I have seen people post about I only lost 20 pounds in two weeks and now the scale hasn't budged in 2 days. Really? I prefer not to comment on threads like those. I think some people are sincerely concerned about their progress...I mean it is hard to gauge because everyone is so different. I also think some people just want some attention. I think if it is a real concern like the scale hasn't moved for a couple of weeks and you are brand new, or you gained weight, or you haven't lost for more than a month then I can understand freaking out and looking for some advice.

    Any Tattooed Sleevers?

I would definitely wait. it could be your reward for losing the last 35 pounds. I have many tattoos, but all are fairly small and purposely placed on areas that don't stretch that much. Why spend all that money if it could be distorted? I also feel like your thigh is something that could lose a lot of inches as opposed to ankle or wrist.

    BCAA during workouts?

yep. my fitness trainer recommended it too. I drink the usp labs watermelon which is pretty good. bcaa stands for branch chain amino acids (protein is made up of amino acids) and the idea is that when you are doing intense weight training you are essentially breaking down and tearing muscles. Bcaa's help your recovery time and provide those amino acids for rebuilding muscles. We often lack all the amino acids for muscle building purely from the protein we eat. I take this before my workout and noticed I have more energy. I started taking this after I started intense weight training and would get some serious doms. I started drinking electrolyte based drinks and then moved on to this product. It seems to help, but like with all supplements it isn't governed by the fda so who really knows right? I do believe in supplementation (my opionion), but my trainer who is part of my wls program (not my fitness trainer at the gym) doesn't believe in any supplementation. So there are some different opinions out there. I would also do a little bit of research on when to take it and the other supplements that promote the effectiveness of bcaas (biotin, chromium). All in all, I like taking it. I think it helps my recovery and the one I take actually tastes good.

Congratulations woman! I haven't been on here for awhile so I had to catch up with whats going on with you. So basically in a week you will be having surgery. I'm excited for you. What did you decide on for your accommodations? Your pre-op diet is different than mine. You must have a lower starting bmi. What are your stats as of now?

Almost 16 weeks post op up date

In 5 days I will make 16 weeks post op. I had surgery on January 30, 2013. My weight loss has been an average of 15 pounds of month. My last 4 weeks I actually lost more than the previous 4 weeks. I'm pretty sure it had everything to do with upping my calories from 600 to 1000 and my exercise. Total loss as of today is 70 pounds!!! I was always worried I wasn't losing fast enough throughout this process, but in the past week I think I have come to terms with not being a super fast loser. I mean 70 pounds in approximately 4 months is pretty amazing to me. And as for the eating part it has been fairly effortless. My main struggle has been trying to get in more calories to sustain my intense workouts. Long term, if I only lost 10 pounds a month that is still 120 pounds in a year!!! My anxiety has definitely lifted regarding the scale. I always felt this pressure to lose fast and hard...I think it was because I was going on vacation to see some of my friends and family and I wanted to lose as much as I could before seeing them. Well, my vacation is over and so is the pressure. I feel quite content with my weight loss and my successes as well as failures. I made decent choices on my vacation, but was far from perfect and lost over 6 pounds while on my vacation. It was so hard for me to not have access to a scale during that time and was pleasantly surprised when I came home and the scale had gone down! I finally have FAITH in my sleeve. I feel if I make good choices that the weight will come off. This is a good feeling for me to have. Everything seems so much clearer. I don't feel the stress of it all. I have faith in myself and my sleeve. Most importantly, I finally feel my life changing for the better and for the long term. WHAT I NEED TO DO MOVING FORWARD I have to readjust my goals and rewards because the more I lose the more they change. I also have to get back to the gym. I haven't gone since a couple days before my vacation...so that is almost 2 weeks. I also need to get back on track with my eating habits. Eating clean, healthy, and meeting my protein and caloric needs every day. For those of you out there worried about losing slowly...don't! I know it is easier said than done, but in 4 months and you are 50, 60, 70 pounds down or more it is success and you should be excited and proud of yourself.

    Pain again 3 weeks later...

I've had this happen to me about 3 or 4 times since I was sleeved (January 30th, 2013). It always happens doing the same thing. Everytime I lift one of those cases of water (probably weighs about 50 pounds) and have to put it in the back of my car I experience this kind of pain. I have asked my dr. about it numerous times. He is convinced that is nothing to worry about. He basically told me that there really isn't anything that I can do to "ruin" my incisions or that side of my belly. I have been basically stretching my internal sutures. For me, it takes me about a week for me to be back to normal again. I don't think it is lifting 50 pounds that gets me because I lift more than that in the gym. I think it is the lifting and twisting motion that is doing it.
  17. Lost 6.2 pounds on my 2 week vacation...I am blown away and didn't expect to lose that much. Go sleeve!

    Akward chest pain

Did thou ever find out what happened? Or did it get better? I've been feeling this way for about a week now.
  19. On my ten day vacation. The 12 hour flight was hard on my body, but sleep did me good. Preselected, I expected to gain weight on my vacation, but being sleeved I expect to lose a couple of pounds while here. Maybe relaxation will help.

  20. I don't think sugar free yogurt exists. Even if you get plain yogurt you will still see sugar in the nutritional facts because yogurt has lactose in it. Lactose is a form of sugar. Anything ending in ose is...fructose, lactose, glucose. Same goes for cheese, milk, etc. Plain yogurt will have no added sugar though...like the ones with fruit added which would be adding fructose which would up the sugar content.

How many of you have lost hair?

Yep. Mine started about two and a half months post op. It took me a couple of days to notice. The drain in my shower had more hair than normal. Everyone I brush my hair there is a big wad. It is starting to stress me out and I hope it stops soon. It isn't clumps. Pretty much all day long I have to pull two or three strands out that are loosely hanging. No one notices until I point it out or show them my brush. But I have a lot of hair. I thought I wouldn't lose hair because growing up I couldn't stop it from growing! Everywhere!
  23. I am 1.8 pounds away from my next long term weight loss goal.(see ticker) Come on 250lbs. you can't get here soon enough.
