I have long used 'bath sheets', and even as I slim I will still use them at home, they are super huge and comfy...but to be able to go to a hotel and not have to worry about 1/2 of you sticking out and not getting covered will definately be nice!!
I can't wait for my calves to be thin enough to wear knee high boots!!

Well I made it through! My spin/pilates class started last thursday...my bum hurt for like 3 days and my abs hurt till yesterday. But I did it and didn't die! I go back again this Thursday and am happy about it.

The hardest part is toughening up your backside to the seat. It's gets more conditioned to it after a few rides.

Karissa I'm a firefighter also and last year I was taking the batteries out of the thermostat in the day room so they would stop turning up the heat! Now I have it too warm for the rest of the crew. Never thought that would happen. I think being cold is much better than being hot all the time though!

I've only needed the extension twice, but I always DREAD boarding the plane and praying for an empty seat next to me... then I have to go through a LOT of contorting and breath-holding in order to get the belt fastened and then sit miserably with my arms folded in front of me so as not to encroach on my neighbor's space.
I look forward to the time when I don't have to worry about who is sitting next to me or booking only red-eye flights, or looking up seat dimensions to make sure that seats over 18 inches across.

I was searching the forums for being cold and this one came up! I find, post-op, my extremities (hands and feet) get cold very fast. And it's winter time here at my university. They get so cold it's actually painful.
It was 19 degrees today and even though I had gloves on, I had to feed a meter. My hands hurt so bad from the cold I almost wanted to cry walking to class!
So yes, I can totally relate to being cold (I even have two pairs of socks on in bed right now lol)

I'm ALWAYS freezing, I can wear 3 jackets and still be shivering like a lunatic. I'm a firefighter and I've found it to be extremely hard to adjust when I'm out in the cold on calls. Even in my turnout gear I'm shaking. My poor hubby sweats all night long because I have 3 comforters on the bed along with a sheet and fleece

castiel reacted to SleeveGirl-TX in 19 months done, 200+ pounds down - and a whole lotta smiles up
Finally finding my way back to this forum, it's been a LONG time. I'm about 16 or so pounds from my new goal weight. Ha! 175 seemed so unobtainable that I never thought I'd actually hit that number, much less pass it and keep going. I'm still losing - in month 19, I'm at 5 pounds lost. I weigh 166 and am 5'6".
Best decision I've ever made, but it's also a LOT of hard work. There's no easy way out. I make decisions every single day and I live with the consequences of those choices. I still only eat around 800 calories a day. I can get up to 1200 if I try really hard, but I still have amazing restriction and I seem to lose best at 800, so I just keep it there. I get around 30-50 carbs per day, a LOT of Water and 70-100 Protein. I use MyFitnessPal to keep myself in check.
There's a LOT of skin. I held most of my weight for 30 years in my stomach. It's really bad. There will be eventual plastic surgery to deal with it. But I'd much rather have that than all the fat that was hanging around.
My life is so much different now. I'm a totally different person, yet completely the same. I'm able to do more and live life how I'm supposed to be living it. I have been married to the most amazing man in the world for nearly 20 years and we have two (nearly) perfect children and life is pretty darn good.
To those of you struggling, stalling, wondering if you can do it... you can. You just have to want it bad enough. And by that I mean... BAD. Stalls are normal. I lose some, stall, gain some back, stall, lose that and then a little more, stall again. My longest stall was 20 days at 3 weeks out. I routinely stall for about 2 weeks at a time nowadays. It's all good, as long as the overall trend is down.
I'll attach a photo of me at 200 lost, I've lost 8 more since then, but the difference is pretty amazing.

It really depends if it's financially better for you. You could wait for your insurance to kick in and cover the surgery, and you have to go through the insurance hoops too. You have to ask yourself: do you need the surgery ASAP or could you hold out another year? Then again, if you have the surgery now, in a year from now, you'd be closer to goal.

You are an idiot to post this here. I don't have any problem wih people posting their stories (even ones with bad outcomes), but in no way shape or form is this kind of situation common. The opposite is true. So stop trying to scare people away from LIFE SAVING surgery with your story. It would have been fine if you had told the story and left it at that. But no, you have to punctuate it at the end with your moronic advice and how you would never have weight loss surgery. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx violation of forum rules. People die from having their wisdom teeth out- should they not have surgery to alleviate their pain?
    I hate trolls.

It's amazing they can make this stuff into anything. This is spicy chicken (really tofu) with vegies. This may be old to some but it's all new to me. I always though no way would I eat that. It's really good.
Now I can order chinese when everyone in the office does.

You definitely need to go to the ER and get set up with an IV and a possible pic line. Seek a second opinion.
The doctor didn't find a stricture?
What are you eating that makes you throw up? Is it everything?? or something more specific like chicken or dairy? Can you eat pureed vegetables?

64 pounds in 4 weeks?! WOW! Congrats!
I would definitely say getting in all my liquids is really hard. And not drinking after meals or even with them is still a huge issue for me 4 weeks post op. I'll get the hang of it eventually.
As for the baked chicken, maybe you should try pureeing it until you can try again at week 6. Or what about canned chicken? That's softer and mushier!

My nut told me that most of her patients can't deal with the taste of clear Protein the first week and to not worry about it. But my Clear Liquids consisted of:
-chicken broth (wonton Soup was a life saver from a restaurant)
    -powerade zero or gatorade zero
    -crystal light
    -water

I can say it does get better. I'm almost a month post op, but I've had no complications and only some days do I feel tired or crappy.
Try getting in all your Protein and remember to hydrate. I don't know how your diet works, but I'm already on soft foods and I feel almost normal while eating. It's just a matter of measuring stuff so it doesn't get stuck or feel like it's rising back up in your throat. GOTTA CHEW AND GO SLOW. Savor every bite.
It will get better. You just have to keep telling yourself that.

castiel got a reaction from ultravas02 in Seriously? I have to gain 8 lbs to get a revision?
I don't really know how your insurance works, like after you gain the 8 pounds, do you have to wait two years?
But looking at the number, it's only 8 pounds. That might not even be a full pant size. That seems so little for a procedure that you'll lose within the first week post-op. If you are really considering that this surgery is right for you, I think it would be worth it (but that's just my opinion). 8 pounds for a life time of a healthier you.
