  1. I was home a lot during my first two weeks of liquids just recuperating, but I must admit I spent a lot of my time in my room in my bed just surfing the web and watching movies and television. Netflix helped a lot. I tried to avoid eating situations whenever possible. (even napping during my family's dinner time haha). Granted, I'm a college student, so not doing much is okay. Maybe when your child eats their snack you can be in the kitchen (or wherever they eat) doing something else like straightening up or purposely leave something undone so you can do it while they eat to distract yourself. Reading helped pass the time too! Edit: Whoops! I thought you meant post-op not pre-op! Still try to distract yourself. Good luck :]
  2. my NUT told me that when in ketosis (or having a low carb diet) smells become stronger and that I might not be able to stand them smell of certain things or the scents would be very strong, so maybe that is why??
  3. I just did a lot of bending and packing and wow does my stomach feel horrible. I'm also getting a bit of heart pain which is unusual and alarming.

  4. I bought the chocolate peanut butter, however, I didn't get a peanut buttery taste! it tasted more like a vanilla waffer type taste. so I added a table spoon of peanut butter and some flax seed and it was much better!
  5. I'm heading back to college and classes start this week. (Monday and Wednesdays I go from 830-4 with no break!). So I'm already thinking about things I can make and shove in a lunch pail. One thing I recently bought was the laughing cow mini babybel light cheese. it has 50 calories and 6 grams of protein with 0 carbs for an itty bitty piece! perfect for our tiny stomachs. I know cheese can bind you up, but if you could throw in a few pieces in a little insulated lunch box, these might be something to help you through the day. I also bought a few packs of those little tuna to go things, and you just don't eat the crackers. it's small and full of protein. I think I'm going to be relying on protein shakes for a while because I'm still not getting in all my protein and water. NOT ENOUGH HOURS IN THE DAY! especially when you have to wait 30 mins before and after eating to drink again and then in a few hours you have to eat again so you have to stop drinking. IT'S AN ENDLESS CYCLE haha. I hope you can work a schedule out for you. Maybe you'll have to prep stuff the night before you start your day
  6. Have you tried the protein mixes at walmart? they're about 16-20 dollars for a 2lb tub. I've had the six star protein vanilla and i would mix that with coffee (or decaf in our case) and it'd work just like a creamer! didn't even need to add any sugar! tasted great and didn't have a horrible taste. i also just bought their peanut butter flavor, but it wasn't very peanut buttery, so i added a table spoon of PB and some flax seed and boom PB flavor galore. tastes pretty good and a nice change compared to the nectar chocolate truffle.
  7. I'm up 2 pounds and really ticked off :[

  8. What if you tried getting in your protein other ways? Like drinking milk or eating greek yogurt? Also, are you making your protein shakes with milk or water? Because I find making them with water is SO GROSS. milk makes it better. and you could try soy or almond milk and see if that helps with the flavor

    All of my December sleevers...

Most days I don't make it to 64oz. Usually really close though
  10. with all this protein I have to get in, I wish I could have room for some vegetables. I'd kill for some cabbage or green beans.

    Aetna

I have aetna choice pos ii. But I've read on here that some people with my plan aren't approved, it all comes down to your employer. I had a $500 co-pay for the hospital and then we pay $2,000 deductable. I had 5 doctor's visits with $25 co-pays, I had an EKG and a few other tests and we pay $24.50 out of pocket, a sleep test which was covered 100% I also did the 3 month option, but I had to finish my fall semester and get the surgery on winter break, so I still waited about 6 months anyway. Took a week for approval letter.

    21 Year Old Pre-Op

I'm 21 and I just had surgery on 12/17. I'm ready to have the body I knew I should have had all my life. I've been fat since I was 5 years old! I wish you best of luck on this journey! There's also a group for sleevers in your 20s, but sometimes it's not very active.

    I hate this surgery.

I had my surgery the week right before Christmas. Man, was that hard! Everyone was eating around me and all I could have was tomato Soup. I stalled 10 days post op after losing 20 pounds and then nothing until 1/7. We stall at different time. I found that the first 2 weeks the head hunger was the worst. You miss food, but now I'm 24 days post op and most (not all) of my head hunger is gone. I does get easier and the stall will break. Give it time <3
  15. I don't know exactly how long my surgery took. I had mine about 9:30am. I just remember them waking me up and being in total agony and moaning in pain. I kept drifting in and out trying to press the help button (the ones on the bed don't work I found out), of course no pain meds or anything to make sure you're okay in recovery. Then I just remember being rolled into my room and the nurse saying "We have pain meds on the way" and BOOM, out for 5-6 hours lol

    First work out post-op

I'm thinking I might do something like drink half a protein shake before my work hour and the other half post work out like the body builders do lol.

    First work out post-op

I did really poorly today with hydrating and getting in protein. I think I got maybe 40 grams in? And only 40oz of water. I was so thirsty when I got home! I'm still doing really bad with not drinking before or after eating. WHY AM I STRUGGLING SO MUCH? I think I'm literally going to have to buy a timer and carry it around with me when I'm home (since my phone doesn't have a good timer option on it and appt reminders are a hassle). I need to do this properly. I'm also calling my doctor's office thursday because I think I need to up my PPIs strength. I'm taking Prevacid 30mg, and my stomach gurgles every 2 hours, and I feel hungry!!! That's not supposed to happen right? I went to the gym today! I had an intense nightmare this morning that woke me up early, so I felt tired all day. But I made it to the gym. YAYYYY! I did the bike for 30 minutes with an average speed of 12 miles. Weird thing was, my heart started hurting, and I lost my inhaler so breathing was really difficult. I was freaked out by the heart pains. I slowed down a little on the bike and waited for it to go away. I then walked on the treadmill for about a half hour. In total I burned about 400 calories. Not too bad I guess. My legs felt really odd. Almost like I could feel the lactic acid building up within a half hour of riding. I just feel really weak tonight. I'm tired. Not like I want to shut my eyes and fall asleep tired, but my body just feels exhausted. My nut says I can have up to 60 carbs a day, but with all the protein I eat, I don't think I breach 40 most days. I gotta work on being diligent with counting protein AND carbs. My nut stressed that carbs were important to think, especially since I'm in school. If it does get to be too much, and I can't function at school, I'm gonna have to up my carbs if my nut ok's it since caffeine is off the menu for a while LOL. Here's to a new start with fitness!
  18. I'm getting bored with Nectar and muscle milk light, so I may have to go to Walmart and try this out!

    Heartburn

PPI stands for proton pump inhibitor. Maybe you should talk to your doctor about being prescribed some? Or look at the OTC heartburn options out there?
  21. I got the sleeve because I was uncomfortable with the malabsorption and creation of a pouch with gastric bypass. I knew right away I would never want the band because I didn't like the idea of a foreign object in my body. There's possible erosion, the band disconnecting and not even working, and you need fills and finding that perfect balance where the restriction doesn't make you vomit or make the food pass right through. The plus side to the band is that it is not permanent. However, once it's removed can you keep the weight off? VSG is permanent! There is no getting your stomach back. This is for life. You have to weight the risks that there are complications with this surgery, as is with any weight loss surgery.
