  1. My dietician told me to stay away from pizza because of the dough, but she said I can eat the toppings (cheese and sauce). However I'm thinking thin crust would be okay once time has elapsed. I was looking for pizza alternatives recently and I came across this recipe that I can't wait to try in a few weeks! http://www.eat-drink-smile.com/2011/04/cauliflower-crust-pizza.html
  2. Started pureed foods today. Woohoo

    Nyquil gel caps

Maybe try to stick to liquid cold medicine if possible? I don't know anything about the gel caps, but if no one else does, then liquid would probably be the way to go.
  4. 11 days post op and you're eating regular meat? Is it pureed?
  5. I'm sorry to hear about the vomiting! is it because you just moved to pureed foods or has it been vomiting through out the two weeks post op?
  6. One of my incisions is bumpy too, but I figured it's just healing and the stitches are still there. Once the stitches dissolve, put creams on it and rub it to get circulation into it. I think it's normal for our scars to be weird
  7. You definitely shouldn't have eaten those! It would've been better if you chewed and spit. I've done it a few times but only with little things, and I've eater a few peanuts and pistachios, but I've stopped that because there is a serious risk for a leak only being two weeks out. It's not about weight gain, it's about your health after healing. Be cautious and if you start feeling intense pain with a fever, contact your doctor right away!
  8. I caught my brother's cold. THIS IS THE WORST TIME TO BE SICK. oh my gosh, i'm so scared i won't get better.

  9. My dad liked the 6 star strawberry protein powder from wal-mart. He said it got too foamy though so he switched back to vanilla. Maybe that brand might be good?

    Would you do it again?

Doing this at 21 I think was the best option for me! A family friend said that she too wish she had this surgery at my age because her youth would've been so much better instead of having it later in life. I think her comment about it solidified my choice to have this surgery. Luckily, only being 13 days post-op, I haven't had one of those moments where I thought: What did I do to myself? It's more like: oh man, I miss food and can't wait to get through this to get to soft healthy foods. I did have one day where I got really emotional, but it's passed. Only time will tell if I'm super happy with my choice!
  11. As long as you're getting all your protein in with full liquids that would be your best bet. Also, what is your carb limit? Mine is 60 grams a day and my protein mix has zero carbs, so juice would be okay for me and my carb count. The calories doesn't sound too bad though! I'm on a 600-800 calorie day limit. So as long as you don't go over your recommended carbs and calories while drinking all your fluids, don't stress over it too much!

GOOD fast food choices ?! :)

If at all possible, stay away from fast food! Bring snacks to work to keep in your desk. If you absolutely must, look at Taco Bell's fresco menu and don't eat the tortillas. Chick-fil-a (I boycott it but that's my choice) you could do a grilled chicken sandwich, but only eat the piece of chicken and not the bread
  13. Yes! Mine started yesterday. It's like a pain at the bottom of my stomach, almost like a gas bubble moving through a pipe whenever I eat or drink anything! Sometimes it comes up as a burp and other times it goes the other way. I hope it stops eventually :[
  14. I'm at a stall and I'm only 12 days out :[ I haven't lost since Christmas eve I think

  15. I was sleeved on dec 17th and I'm still on full liquids until new year's eve then I start pureed. Full liquids I'm eating/drinking: sugar free pudding yogurt (greek and others) mashed potatoes (diluted with Water and butter) tomato Soup (made with milk for protein) cream of chicken soup cream of celery skim milk muscle milk light Protein shakes with lactaid (I brought nectar and it's not gritty at all if you use a shaker, but sometimes the smell is annoying) I keep slipping up though, a pistachio chewed really well here or there (I keep reasoning with myself it's like me taking my Vitamin or medicine or something but I know I need to knock it off because I don't want a leak!)

    Chili recipe or canned suggestion

My chili recipe is very simple and from my mother 1 lb of ground turkey or lean beef 2 cans of campbell's tomato Soup 2 cans of kidney Beans Cook meat Mix cans of soup and kidney beans together in pot (don't add water). Then add meat to beans and soup. Keep stirring. Cook for about an hour or more, until beans are soft. Add chili pepper, garlic, onion powder, and black pepper. Tastes pretty good to me!
  17. had a good doctor's visit today. I ate two pistachios and a few peanuts today. I feel bad and I'm paranoid about a leak, but I wanted them so badly :[

  18. a little annoyed that I went up a pound. I'm also having gas pains from panera's tomato soup :[ GOTTA DRINK MORE WATER!

  19. I just tried swalling a calcium pill (they're huge) and I even broke it in half. My throat wouldn't even let me get it down and back up it came. Now my stomach hurts so bad :[

  20. So I know we're supposed to be drinking whey Protein isolate shakes, but does anyone know why this particular protein? I was talking to a friend and she said that Whey Protein is very hard for the body to break down. She was suggesting a some Protein shake that tastes delicious and she sent me a photo of the ingredients. The first ingredient was Milk Protein Concentrate. A few ingredients after, Whey Protein isolate came up, but I guess I wanted to know if any of you have tried this kind of protein instead of whey? Why do we have to use whey and not some other forms of protein? I might ask my dietician when I see her on Friday, because if my friend brings over samples and it tastes good, maybe I can use that instead!

    Milk Protein Concentrate

Thank you so much for all the info! I'll definitely discuss with my nut and see if it's advisable for me to use milk protein if I don't like whey
  22. I was sleeved 12/17. My dietician said to get in Protein the first week, but it's not that important. This week I'm on full liquids, I've been drinking muscle milk, creamy Soups, sugar free pudding, and Water and have been getting in at least 40g of protein if not more. I haven't been keeping track of liquids like I should but I know it's still under 64oz. Clear Liquids you could try besides water: flavored water (Fruit2O, Propel) crystal light Powerade Zero (MY LIFE LINE DURING MY CLEAR LIQUIDS STAGE) Wonton Soup from a local Chinese place (broth only) Decaffeinated tea (Lipton, I even found decaf earl grey) Sugar free popsicles (maybe this will help if you can't keep anything else down besides plain water) Sugar free Jello and remember to get lots of rest. Your body is in starvation mode so energy will be low if you aren't getting in protein your first week!
  23. I went to the flea market with my grandmother today. I would say I walked well over a mile, maybe even two. And then we had to go shopping. Sleep made me feel so much better, but by the time we were done, my stomach was on fire. I took some pain medicine and slept again from about 4pm to 2am. My stomach still hurts a lot and I kind of regret walking so much being a week post-op. At least tomorrow I get to start full liquids! Yaahoooo! On Christmas day too. So tired of clear stuff.
  24. just had tomato soup with lactaid milk and it was delcious :3 I'm probably going to have the rest for X-Mas dinner and sugar free pudding for dessert. Maybe today won't be so bad after all!
