Yes I think it is normal the two weeks before the operation I was so emotional. I broke down and cried several times and really did not have a reason to. I think for me I felt sad wishing I could do it on my own yet knowing I tried everything. I was also scared to death to be abnormal or something. In the end I had little pain and everything went fine! Good Luck!

Best of luck! -
I have been on a weightloss journey for more then 3 years. For Two years I went to a weightloss specialist took metform, tried weightwatchers, Went on a medi diet of 500 calories even did a Betya shot 3 times a day (lost 2 pounds on that!) Felt discouraged...my husband cooked for me brought tiny lunches could never lose more then 20 pounds. I moved back to Maui a year ago and kinda gave up was on and off on diffrent things but felt like I was doomed. I have PCOS I am not a big eatter but somehow my little 5'4 body reached 260 pounds. When I looked in the mirror I never saw myself anymore I felt buried. Who was this empty girl in the mirror? I went to a weightloss seminar in Fla that was the first time I started to think about it. I found it the most depressing thing I had ever been too. I was sitting next to a man in a wheel chair around 600 pounds or so with an oxgen tank. He kept shoving food down his mouth the whole time. There were several others doing the same. Unfortanately I was so consumed and depressed by everything around me I ran out as soon as it ended. Thinking ahhh.....this is not for me. It stuck in my head why would someone eat at a weightloss seminair all the guestions were about food and stopping soda. Depressing. I did not hear any of the facts I missed that part left feeling defeated. I have a good friend who is a huge sucuss with RYN but...I did not want that I decided to try to go to find out information again. I made two appointments one withh a general surgeon here and one with an expert who lives in San Fransico but has been coming to Maui for years. The first Dr. was very much anti sleeve but I liked the second doctor. After only one appoinment tons of reasearched I decided the sleeve was for me. I went to my first appointment in Sept and had the procedure done on Nov 15th. My mom had already made plans to come I had some time off so decided why wait until next year? I decided to do it right away. Fear almost stopped me several times I was so emotional the weeks leading to the date. I mourned for food I felt like I was saying goodbye to an old friend. LOL When I almost chickened out my husband asked me what is the problem I said I was afraid of change..He reminded me that age 23 I left the states and moved to Japan to Marry him. He told me change is my middle name and that I should say good bye to food and choose health it made me feel better. I am 11 days Post op I just had to take the jump my journey is just begining, Hello Health and Julie I am going to find the NEW me soon!

Alcohol After Surgery
Pink Butterfly replied to jerilo10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Each person is differnt. My doctor is really strict no alchool for 6 months. I have also heard that when you do drink the first time should be at home because it could really hit you. I miss drinking but I am going to hold out for the 6 months or longer. You may take a few sips and not even want it. -

How Do You Stop Hairloss/encourage Regrowth?
Pink Butterfly replied to NurseMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Nursemom I have PCOS too. I am 11 days post op. My hair was a big concern although the Water, Protein and vitmins help I think it cannot be avoided. I have never heard of anyone going bald just from month 3 to moth 6 you lose a lot of hair. Starts to grow back somewhere around month 7 or 8 have not reached that stage yet. I heard at that time it is good to wash your hair every day. With PCOS I have tried everything! Including going to a specilist for 2 years and Metformin, betya shots etc...Am keeping my fingers crossed this works have heard they have great sucess with PCOS patients. Good Luck JUlie -
Hi Joe I am on day 12 post op. I had not thought about it but..I can feel my stomach is smaller too very strange. Also my sense of smell and taste is also much keener. The only thing that made me sick was some liquid vitimin I had purchased when I smelled it I already knew ahhhh no WAY!! Did you stop Caffine before the op? I stopped 3 weeks before the surgery and was shocked at the intense headaches I had! Hope you feel better soon my problem was my pack it was killing me. Felt strange had no pain in my stomach but the gas in my back was bad! Almost gone now. I am 2 days from soft foods on the countdown so sick of the protein drinks Good luck Joe We can do it Julie

Questions, Questions, So Many Questions
Pink Butterfly replied to dlinnh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello Everyone I just joined. My date was Nov 15 I am about 10 days post op. Doing well. Very hard to get all the fluids in. Had to stay in the hospital for 2 days as they found a hernia that was also removed. I live in Maui but flew to San Fransico to have it done as there are no weightloss programs here. Was extremely nervous woke up waiting for the pain to come except for my back I did not have any. Jana we have the same op date. I am not planning to go back to work for another week or two. Trying to get in the swing of things. I work 10-14 hour days and wondering if I can keep up. So want to make sure I am ready. Diane loved your posts. I actually went to a weight loss seminar in Fla two years ago but was scared away by all the people shoving chips and candy while gasping for air... I could not get out of there fast enough. I was so confused by the fact hello your at weight loss surgery seminar and you cant wait 30 minutes to eat? It depressed the hell out of me. I only started looking into again when I saw a freind who did RYN and how awesome she looked went to my first apointment in Sept and had the sleeve done in Nov it was FAST! Good luck to all of you. I have been wondering how people are doing there is not a group here. What do you eat? I am on 400 cal 70 gram Protein Are you hungry? I am sometimes I worry did they really do it. I dont know what my full feels like yet but it is hard to drink a lot Lets stay in touch would love to see how we are all doing!! Go November Sleevers! Julie -
Hello I noticed that we had the procedure done on the same day Nov 15 how are you? I am doing pretty good

I've Made The Decision, How Long Is The Wait?
Pink Butterfly replied to lynettestarr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello I think the average is 6 months depends who your provider is also if they make you try another diet. Once I decided I went in Sept saw the Doctor once got approved and was sleeved on Nov 15th. So 2 months I dont this this is normal though. I went to a dietican/ doctor for weightloss for 2 years in Orlando so I think that helped. Good luck! -
