Slow loser? Worried about being a slow loser? Why being a slow loser is pretty awesome
Decembersleever replied to Sassafras's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you for taking time to post this. I try hard to be upbeat and go with the flow. I lost 9 pounds pre-surgery and have lost 26 more pounds since surgery which was 12/26/12. That's about 6.5 pounds a week average. I have been stuck for a week or so at 222 which I understand can happen but still don't like it! I don't really mind losing slow as long as I'm losing At the super bowl party yesterday there was SO MUCH food. I was able to have a bite of this and a bit of that and was perfectly fine. The old me would have grazed all day and eaten until I was way beyond uncomfortable. I love the sleeve. It has forced me to eat small portions so I choose what I eat carefully. I struggle to get all my Protein in but I try. I also have a tough time getting calories in. I'm currently managing about 500 or less a day. I know that's not good and it's probably keeping my weight loss slow. I have a really busy job and eating is not at the top of the list anywhere. Before surgery I would grab an unhealthy snack to keep me going throughout the day then hit the fast food on the way home. I think I need to evaluate what the heck I'm going and plan ahead. What do you do to get your calories in each day? I also need to get back to making excercise a priority - it's not right now I walk a bunch during the day but it's certainly not the power walking kind of excercise I need to do. At the end of the day - it's up to me. -
New on here. Surgery on Feb. 11.

Good luck to all of you. I read this forum every day before my surgery. I'm 1 month out and doing great. Half the battle is your attitude. I was tired of being limited in life. This surgery has turned me into a new person and I'm not going back -
I was eating Saltine crackers! I still have so much to learn.

Sleeved 12/26. Down 33 pounds and two sizes. I'm lucky if I get 500 calories a day in. I average about 40 grams of protein and 40 ounces of water. I stalled at week three but didn't change a thing. I get in 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week So far so good!! -
small nsv to some.... But a big one to me...

hands down the best decision I ever made. It's natural to be nervous but you'll never regret the choice to get healthy and live longer. -
did you have much hair loss because you are losing at a slower rate?
-

walk, walk, walk, walk ! You'll do great and will love your sleeve. Let us know how you are doing when you are up and around.

The dreaded 3 week stall
Decembersleever replied to Tink22-sleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm four weeks out also and hit the 3 week stall last week. I have read enough info on this forum to know that stalls are temporary. AND IRRITATING! You are doing everything right - hang in there.... I didn't change anything at all and the scale finally started moving down again. I think our body needs to play catch up sometimes. Have faith and keep going forward - this a journey not a race (that's what someone told me!) -

AHHHHHHH! Tomorrow is the big day!
Decembersleever replied to IAMLU's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll do great! Remember to walk early and often. That gets rid of the gas which truthfully is the worst of it! Everyone is different and we all handle things differently - keep a positive attitude and you'll be fine. Welcome to the sleeved life - it's fantastic! -
looking for a little advice out there. For the last few days I have noticed some chest pain. It's very centrally located and is NOT my heart I would say it's 3 inches to the right of my sternum and about 8 inches down from my throat. Pretty specific huh! It's a nagging kind of pain that doesn't seem to go away no matter what I'm doing. I can't remember doing anything that would cause it and I can still eat / drink. I'm 4 weeks post surgery. Has anyone else had this happen? Any recommendations?

unusual pain?
Decembersleever replied to Decembersleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
and the verdict is ..... Heartburn I can handle that! The Dr. recommended some Tums for immediate relief (it took 7 of them to work) and starting me on Prilosec immediately. Glad it wasn't serious and glad you told me to call. I would have still been sitting around in pain wondering. I LOVE this forum. -
