Friend jealous or unsupportive, or both?
AussieLady replied to cookie2012's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Is your friend overweight? If so then perhaps it is jealousy. If not, then might she think that you would feel uncomfortable if she made a comment. If you think that scenario is not the case then ask her. I would just say "how do you think I am looking these days"? The way she responds should give you a pretty clear picture of what the problem is. -

Any one who has NOT lost hair?
AussieLady replied to roni 711's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sooooo dreading this. My daughter is getting married on 17th March and I will be 4 months out. She wants the day to be perfect, as all brides do. I'm thinking that a bald mother of the bride might spoil the photos a little. -

January 2013 Sleevers?
AussieLady replied to LenaVSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I would get that incision looked at by a doctor before it gets any worse. I'm no expert but it is very swollen and red. My incisions certainly never looked like that. -
I have just been slapped in the face by a major family drama. It's one of those times when, in the past, I would have opened a bottle of wine and eaten myself stupid. What do I do now? Any advice would be appreciated.

Not sure if this is the same, but I actually managed to put nail polish on my toe nails today without passing out.

I had surgery on November 14. I was 235 and now I am 190. We have lost almost exactly the same. I think I am doing well and you are too. We have the rest of our lives to lose our excess weight. It will happen.

Dont be a tough guy - take your meds
AussieLady replied to NurseGrace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my surgeon if I had fallen off the operating table while in theatre. I didn't realize the shoulder pain came from the gas. -
A cup of black coffee in the morning cured my constipation and that's been so worth it! I just drink 2 extra glasses of water after it to make up for the diuretic effect.

I was really surprised when I first came on this site and saw the pain medication that people were offered or given in the hospital. Before anyone attacks me, I am not trying to brag but when I had my surgery I really wasn't offered strong painkillers, and I certainly wasn't hooked up to morphine. I had pain on the day after surgery but expected that and the next day I went home feeling fine. -
Nervous about eating
AussieLady replied to SimplyFAB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I drink within about 20 minutes of eating, I can't eat and I get a very uncomfortable feeling which usually causes me to get the slimes and vomit. Usually have to wait about 30 minutes after eating. -
I was given the option of coffee whilst still in hospital.. Neither my surgeon or nut said there was a problem. If you are getting in your fluids there should not be a problem. Sometimes I have a skinny latte as my morning snack. Coffee does make you urinate, but so does water.

Go back to basics. Count calories, Protein and Water. Or have a few days of Protein shakes only, just to give your weight loss a kick start. -

Thanks so much for the kind words and support everyone. -
Last night I was so desperate for a cola, after months of water. I mixed 2/3 diet cola with 1/3 water and ice. It was heaven!!!!!!! Most of the gas had gone out of it with just a slight tingle left, but not enough to cause stomach problems. I know it sounds bad, but give it a try. After months of no cola or gas your taste buds forget what it's really like and it tastes great.

In Australia Biotene have a range of products which help with this. I used one of their products for a short while and it was great. If this isn't available in America I am sure there would something similar. My dry mouth resolved after a couple of weeks. Make sure you are not putting anything sweet in your water as this can also cause a dry mouth. Good luck, I hope it goes away soon.

A Family Drama - Help!
AussieLady replied to AussieLady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys, think I will be doing lots of walking along the beach tomorrow. So you better understand, I have 4 children, 3 have never given me any problems and then there's the other one. She is 29 years old and has a 6 year old daughter. I have virtually brought up my granddaughter but in order to keep her with her Mum I brought a house for them to live in and I pay for my granddaughter to go to a good school with Counsellors etc as my daughter has had drug problems and I wanted to be sure that the school would monitor my granddaughters wellbeing and safety and, of course, I am always close by and if in doubt I take my granddaughter home with me and care for her until I am sure that my daughter can care for her properly. My partner and I are currently at our holiday house for a few days rest and this morning my granddaughter phoned and said she couldn't wake Mummy up. This has happened before but as I am away I had to send the police around to check on things. An ambulance was called but my daughter said she was fine and eventually they left. This afternoon my daughter phoned to tell me she had just been to the doctors and is 5 months pregnant. I am just too tired to raise another child. I had to raise my 4 children on my own whilst working full time as their father died. I just want to have some life for me. Maybe I am just being selfish?
