I always wear the same pair of track shorts (even in the winter) and the lightest tshirt that I got. Takes me 5 minutes to get out of my sweats get all the crap out of my pockets, shoes off and onto the scale. My PA goes off and makes herself a latte as a I'm doing all this.
-
I know right, the first thing I thought of, was I wonder if they named that baby....
-
Nah, I only hit the scale once a week. Never at the same time as dropping a deuce.

Excellent!

Nope, I swear, i was stunned when I saw all the responses in the affirmative. Just was nothing that ever occurred to me.

I can kill this thread in 4 notes....a replay from earlier in the week....... . Who weighs before and after they poop?

My girls had track practice today...Its snowing like crazy...dropped them at the track and said what the hell if they can..I can, went and knocked out Week 2 Day 1. They are my inspiration, can't wait until we can all run a race together (albeit they will be much faster than their old man).

I'm thinking if you were knocking out CF pre surgery, your recovery should be fairly short and painless. I don't see you having any issues getting back to kipping soon!

I was 2, 2 and 2, but didn't really do purees and just stayed on mostly liquids for about 4 weeks. It was just easier, didn't want to deal with puree stuff and on occasionally would eat some yogurt or some jello.

I'm not judging or trying to tell anyone what to do ( ). But I'm with Rosie. Being IGT I did a lot of research and decided that 0 calorie soda, was just as bad as the full on leaded version. I haven't had a soda in about 6 months and was a heavy Diet DP and Diet Coke w/ lime drinker. I'm not worried about the gas or the stomach issues that are sure to come from going back to old habits, but I am, for me, concerned about what the soda does to my internals. Again, do what works for you and makes you the happiest in your world, but really check into it before you do. You've made a sizable investment in getting healthy and that includes making some significant lifestyle changes. Indulging in a soda probably isn't going to be the end of the world, but then again, is it really worth it?

Protein shakes.... Help....

Big fan of the premiers that you can get from costco or sams. I don't do powders. I am not a fan of muscle milk (too sweet) or isopures (funky after taste). The EAS brand is my next favorite, If for some reason I can't get premiers. -
that's probably a better question for your Dr. Some folks here are back in the gym quite early, others it takes more time to heal internally. I didn't go back to lifting until about a month out, and I am still not back to where I was before the surgery. I don't really plan to go back that fast, I am focusing more on endurance and flexibility now instead of muscle strength. I don't think that you'll have problem with energy though. There are a fair number of sleevers working on getting ready for long distance runs, mudders, halfs, and fulls. I would just go slow and work on healing up first.

I don't particularly see an issue. I was on liquids for 2 weeks then purees for 2 and then soft for 2. My calorie intake didn't get to 600 until I was on softs. Every Dr. has a different approach though. If you nutritionist is signing off on what you are eating and how much, I would think that would be the best guide. On this board you'll get a myriad of answers. -
I can't even believe that I came back and read the rest of this thread.

yes, that's a bit ocd

You should ask your Dr. about getting a script for Nexium or prilosec. There's some gas/acid in your stomach that can give off what feels (sounds) like hunger. You'll get that ongoing, but it gets better. I was on nexium for about the first 30 days to keep the heartburn down but also to keep the rumbles down too.

Can i just tell my job that I'm having an emergency appendectomy?
johnlatte replied to MK1986's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally wouldn't lie, but that's me. I wouldn't offer the details either. You could just say you are going in from some surgery and leave it at that. Unless they have to sign off on your insurance or FMLA leave, I wouldn't think you would have to divulge the reason for your surgery. -

HOW DID EVERYONE FEEL 2.5 WEEKS OUT?
johnlatte replied to ashley18's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 11/20 and on 12/1 flew from NC to New Mexico. Didn't have any problems and my surgeon ok'd it. Had one bout of low blood sugar, but stopped at a target and got a 4 pack of EAS protein drinks and took care of that. Didn't have a ton of energy, but got through it pretty well. -
How the food giants trick consumers
johnlatte replied to joatsaint's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I find “exposes” like this extremely fascinating. I am not sure why the typical American consumer can be shocked and outraged at stories like this, but continue to pour billions into the industry. I am not defending either side, but coming from the food industry as a chef, the whole goal of this business to do whatever it takes to bring customers back. If you come into my restaurant, and I don’t give you a good meal, then do you come back? These companies spend millions in research; they hire outstanding food scientists, medical researchers, marketers and even psychologists to understand their customers, their tastes and buying habits. Consumer buying habits are a studied science and these companies they are providing what their customers want; just like I would do on own my line. Customers want what they want, you can offer up healthy options, but realistically they are a small portion of a business, and tend to cost the business in the long run. Over the last 4 or 5 years, I’ve seen this sudden wave of blame being washed over corporations that are simply providing what their customers are asking for. I think I understand the reasoning, but not the thought. People want to be protected, but still spend the dollars eating this type of food. But who is protecting us? The government? Did you know that the USDA, was the driving force behind pizza Hut’s stuffed crust pizza campaign? In order to help big dairy farmers, the USDA created a company that went to corporations like Pizza Hut, Dominos etc, to get them to use more cheese. They even lent their labs to the companies to help them produce the product. At the same time the gov’t was sending out new regulations about the serving size and nutritional content of children’s school lunches, they signed off meat producers to add the so called “pink slime” to meat products. I could go on, but if you want to learn more, about how we are being manipulated from both ends of the equation, I suggest you read Food Inc. or The Omnivores Dilemma. Here’s a link that talks about the government involvement in big ag. http://www.pbs.org/wnet/need-to-know/health/video-mixed-signals-why-is-the-usda-promoting-nutrition-and-pushing-cheese/5296/ If you want to learn more about how these companies get inside our heads. Go to You Tube and watch “The Persuaders”. A great documentary on why we buy what we buy and how marketers and companies study us. -
Some people never make it into the clue store.........

week 1 day 2 reboot in the book. I may just skip day 3 and start week 2. The layoff didn't hurt as bad as I thought. It seems to be going fine. Form is way off though. Need to work on upper body strength more. Geeze always something.
-
Well now, that changes the story...pins in your hip, might not be the best thing to go pounding the pavement. Just go slow. The first week is more walking that running. Do what you can, if it hurts stop. Use a safeword or something....

A lot of time shin splints have to do with the shoes you have. Make sure you get a good pair of running shoes and have them fitted. Some of the run stores actually have treadmills in the store that all them to check your gait and they can make a good recommendation on a good pair. My daughter had this problem, until we got her fitted now she never has a problem.
