Being nauseous
johnlatte replied to MissTiffany203's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope, in 3 months, I've been nauseous exactly once due to low blood sugar. Other than that, never once had any nausea -
I was sleeved on a Tuesday and was back at work the following Monday. Took a combination of sick days and vacation days.
-
The sleeve alone will not get you to goal. Just like taking off the weight the old fashioned way, the better physical condition you are in, the better your weight loss is going to be. I don't watch the Biggest Loser so I have no clue what they do, but a healthy regiment of exercise (at least 30-60mins a day) and a balance diet using the sleeve as a way to control portions, is the key successors to making the sleeve work for you. As AliveAgain has pointed out, the sleeve is only a tool. If you don't work the plan and plan the work, it won't do everything you want it to.

Everybody is different. Some say they can eat bread with no problem, some say it makes them feel queasy or too full. Pasta is off my list for life, so I can't comment on that. The carbs are just too much and there's better things to eat (IMO). A lot of people wait 2-3 months before they try bread. My nutritionist wanted me to wait a while or eat toast. I've never been a big bread eater, so it's not a big deal if I don't have any.

not enough protein..
johnlatte replied to angelal1213's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The protein is to help you maintain general health and muscle mass. Because of the restriction on caloric intake, protein need to be supplimented early on in the process so that you are taking in the proper number of nutrients. Bottom line is that it isn't so much about losing weight it is more about keeping you healthy. -
yes, it is possible on MFP to track protein as well as carbs, sugars, fiber, nutrients, Water and exercise.

Actual..net carbs is an Aktins ripoff.

My friend keeps calling me a "Cheater"
johnlatte replied to lilstyler's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would sort of frame it this way" "I am very sorry that your and your daughter cannot support my decision to become more healthy and live a better life. It is disappointing that our friendship is not in a better place. I've made the decision that works best for me and will be moving on with my life once I have completed this step. I would appreciate your friendship and understanding, but if that's not something that you can do, I will understand. You will always be my friend regardless." Then move on. -
I think the first 6 months are the best opportunity to lose as much weight has possible. This is the time to really build those good eating habits and exercise habits. This is a good time to reconcile your relationship with food and make the kind of commitment necessary for overall success. It takes some self analysis and the ability to be completely honest with yourself about how you got to this point and what your ultimate goal is. In a lot of ways the surgery is simply the easiest part. The struggle comes when you have have to make those significant changes that are going to impact you for the rest of your days. Unfortunately many can't seem to connect the dots and ultimately fall back into the old norm, the comfortable warm and fuzzies. That's when the weight starts to creep back up. If you can fully understand your end game and not fall back into the channels that led you to where you are now, you will be successful. I work just as hard on what is going on between the ears as I do with what is going on in my stomach. It's a hard thing at times, so worth it in the end.

How often do you see your Dr post op?
johnlatte replied to windy cindy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven't seem my surgeon since the day he kicked me from the hospital. I've seen his PA at least 2 times a month. Just as well, she's way better looking.... -
You could put it in that slush fund you are building for that beer and cheezeburger binge you've been planning.
-
Would certainly cut down on the grocery tab....maybe you should cut some coupons out too to see if you can turn a profit?
-
The class in the group is simply uplifting. I'd raise a glass to you all, but I quit drinking because I am more committed than the rest of you....

I'm really SICK of all the negativity on the board, we come here for support and all we hear is negativity from all you all that think you are perfect. I am going just delete my account if things don't brighten up RIGHT now. I may even have to eat a cookie. I mean really, you all are just mean people and just sit there and judge the rest of us, because we are not as perfect as you all are......hurmph....stomp stomp stomp.....

jeezzus woman did ya leave anything else for the little old people that go to Costco for lunch everyday?

Eggs can be tricky. It was the only thing that I have eaten since I was sleeved that caused me any type of distress. My nutritionist really didn't know the reason, but said she had heard that from others. Egg beaters was not a problem, only real eggs. Now though, after 3 months it isn't a problem. Just give it some time. No need to rush back to eating, when you still are all cut up inside.
