    Egg white protein

You might want to look into Plant Fusion. It is a plant based protein (peas, quinoa, amaranth etc.) it is 100% vegan and contains no whey or soy. I know that it is available on Amazon, and I think that it is available at GNC.

    Protein in My Urine?

It could be a lot of different things. I wouldn't consider the medical advice given here until you have had a chance to discuss it with your Dr.

    Greek Yogurt Recs?

Yoplait Greek with 2x the protein is very good (except for the peach). Not overly fruity not overly Greek. Low in sugar, high in protein.
  4. Have you looked into a protein product called Plant Fusion? 100% vegan, no milk products the proteins come from peas, artichokes and amaranth. Some sleevers to become lactose intolerant for a bit after surgery. Didn't happen in my case, but I know that others have had the issue. Plant Fusion is at GNC and at Amazon.

    Traveling

I flew from NC to NM two weeks after surgery, just couldn't lift my bag into the overhead, but other than that it was fine. My Dr. signed off on it. Four weeks you should be good to go.

Does any one drink any soda

I'm totally off soda. It was a trigger food for me, so the best thing for me to do is just say no. Beer too, although I miss beer more. I tried a hard cider the other day just as an experiment, but it was good, but the bubbles where just awful. I drink flavored water or tea now and that's fine. There are some trade offs that you want to make to get healthy. Like the op I didn't have the surgery to become a healthnut, but I made a commitment to myself that if I had the surgery, I would do everything I possibly could the become as healthy as I possibly could. I don't feel like I am denying myself anything because I don't want to drink a can full of chemicals and sugar (or sugar substitutes) anymore.

    Alcohol

This is a pretty controversial subject on this board. Some follow their Dr.s recommendation and wait a year. Some cut it out entirely (like me), some are hitting it weeks after surgery. Yes, there can be damage to the stomach since alcohol is hard on the stomach in general, and now you have 85% less stomach. Unless you are drinking beer or something carbonated, stretching the stomach is difficult (again a controversial subject on this board). Your best bet is to do what you feel like. Having a drink or two or what ever isn't going to kill you, but I do urge that you go very carefully. Some handle it well, some get pretty hammered after 1 drink. For me, I decided that if I was going to lie spread out on an operating table and let a group of strangers cut me open, I could let the drink go for the sake of getting healthy and living a better lifestyle. I have a fine time with friends without drinking and don't miss it a bit. Again, to each their own. Let us know how you do!

    Purees not good..

Are you on any type of ppi? Extra gas and stomach acid could be the reason for the burping and tastes not being there. If you aren't taking one, you can either get an prescription like nexium or a otc like prilosec. Also you have to sip and not use a straw. It will be better.

    Day 6 post op

The protein helps the body from eating muscle tissue. It also keeps you from feeling lethargic and weak. The main is to stay hydrated. You can ramp up to the protein as your body adjusts, but once you get over dehydrated, it is difficult to recover from that.
  11. So I'm gone a day, and look what you all have done, somebody is going to have to clean all this up or they are going to be in BIG trouble. (stamping my foot) Rollagirl, you go do what you got to do. We all go down this road for our own reasons. I hear what you are saying and if it works for you, you go get it. I hope that you find what you are looking for at the end of the path. It sounds like you will do just fine. Frank - its called tact, look it up Laura - can't stay out of the goo can ya boo? OTR - what Laura said...(about 3 pages back) All the rest of you....hmmmmm Love all you mutants  Happy Easter :) :) :) This is my 500th post, but still not considered a "vet" here....heavy sighs....

    Is this another stall?

Stalls can happen at any time. Please understand that the surgery isn't a magic path to weight loss. Calorie and nutrient consumption is still part of the plan. If you aren't eating enough, or are not balancing the carb protein intake it will slow down your loss (I know this from experience). Gains can happen for a lot of reasons like an increase in sodium, an unbalanced carb protein intake or several other factors. The other thing is not to weigh daily. Try weight once a week or even once a month. It will make things go a easier. Make sure your fluid intake is at the recommended levels (by your nutritionist), and that you are exercising the proper around (really elevating the heart rate and not counting doing dishes as exercise). Track what you are eating in an application like Myplate or myfitnesspal. It does make a real difference to see what you are actually consuming calorie wise. Also try to relax the weight will come off, you just have to plan the work and work the plan. I am super impatient with myself and I working every day to just stay on track and do the right things. I know in good time the success will happen.

    Eating out.

You are only two weeks out. It gets better and at some point you will be able to eat more. Besides social activity shouldn't be tied to food anyway. There's so many better ways to hang out with friends that sitting around chowing down. A good conversation with a good friend or a walk in the park or playing cards are great ways to hang out, but without food.
  14. Finally hit the 50lb mark today. Small victory, but one that I will certainlly take.

    Top 5 Running Songs

Rebuilding my playlist....What are y'all listening to while on the run? Or working out? Right now I run to Thunder Struck - AC/DC Rock and Roll All Nite - Kiss Born To Run - Bruce Slow Ride - Foghat Ridn' the Storm out - REO Okay, I'll admit they are pretty old songs, but I like'em. So whadda ya got?
  16. I had one last hurrah, but I stuck the to pre-op otherwise (mine was pretty short). It was my wife's birthday and we went to our all time favorite place. It was all good, and when it was done, I was ready to get the surgery on. I wouldn't get all buck wild with it, but go have one good meal. Keep in mind that you'll be able to go again sometime down the road, you will just have to eat like a normal person.
  17. You can get a nutritionist. Check with your PCP, they can give you a referral. A lot of hospitals have them as part of their wellness program, even gyms or the Y has access to them. It really helps cut down on the guesswork. Mine is stalking me now, but I do like her and she has my best interest in mind, but she's always making notes in MyFitnessPal diary and sending me texts.

Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?

W3D2 Done, ran half the cool down instead of walking. Can't wait to get to the end.
  19. Yep, I even set timers on my phone now to go off every 3 hours to eat something. It's crazy after all these years to not want to eat, but I don't get hungry, and don't think about eating at all, before you know it the day is over. I really flipped out my nutritionist when she asked me what I had eaten (it was 1pm) and all had come up with was a Premier.

    What If?

What if you stay the way you are, and drop dead from a heart attack, or get diabetes and they cut your feet off or you go blind, or you have a stroke? Relax, if you follow you Drs. plan, take it one day at a time, keep the expectations low and patience high. You'll be fine.

    2 scrambled eggs?

I had that problem for a little bit after surgery, but it went away. Whites never gave me an issue, only whole eggs. It was the one on only food that didn't agree with me, but now its fine.
  22. Oh yeah, I do too. Saw my nutritionist this week, she put the smack down on me, then she called my surgeon's office and they called me and put the smack down on me too. I really am trying to eat more. I know that's why I'm in the slow slide. Just can't make myself eat. I did manage about 850kcals today. Working on it.

    2 scrambled eggs?

Thank you very much, I think I can handle it. I've been doing this for a while now, and I can pretty much know when I am full.
  24. It really depends on what your nutritionist has in your plan. Some folks are fine at 800 after a month, some aren't. I didn't get to solids until 6 weeks out, and my intake was about 600. At 4 months I am supposed to be at 1100, but realistically I am about 700-800. You should really talk to your nutritionist and make sure you have a good solid plan for success, based on you, your weightloss goals and your body type.

    2 scrambled eggs?

I can eat 1 egg, 1 white and 2 morningstars. Did so this am. If you chew well and don't drink with it. it isn't hard.
