Whats the hardest part for you?!

^^ This^^ ...I'm still in charted territory, meaning I'm losing weight that I have lost before. But since the surgery isn't end all-be all, it is very easy to eat around it and get right back to where you started. This is my biggest fear. I don't worry about what I don't get to eat, because I can pretty much tolerate anything. I haven't had a problem with any particular food except eggs and that is okay now.

    BIG FAT PEOPLE!

We unfortunately won't ever be cured. As I said in my long boring post a few pages back, I live every day knowing that it would not take a whole lot to send me back to places that I never want to see again. But I don't fear that nearly as much as I used to. In fact I draw a lot of strength from it. You get a different perspective and seem to see the playing field more than you do when spend days, weeks and years under the influence. Will I ever be cured, no..I will always be an addict, but I can live with it and I can manage it. As I explained earlier, the food side for me is and always has been about choices not addictions. But the upside is that if you just focus on where you want to be and not where you have been, you can accomplish a whole lot. Recognizing your weaknesses and adapting is the best way of accomplishing your goal.

    BIG FAT PEOPLE!

I never was a big pasta or rice eater, so those have been relatively easy. I eat whole grain wraps on occasion or wheat bread, but have managed to avoid white breads altogether. I think that it is something that if you did introduce it back into your diet it could easily be a trigger food. Processed carbs do initiate hunger and the want for more carbs so I could see that causing some problems for us. IF I ever get to maintenance, I don't think that I would ever bring those foods back.

    Post Op Sleeve

I was sleeved on a Tuesday and was back in the gym and at work the following Monday. Do what you can, but do it. Don't wait until you "feel" like it. The quicker you can get up and move around the sooner your body will recover from the surgery and you will start to feel normal.
  14. There is no specific timeframe for a stall. It really depends on your body and what you are feeding it. There is an adjustment period in which the body does everything possible to hold on to the energy that is has stored. It will burn glucose first before burning fat. One of the quickest ways to break a stall is to actually eat more kcals, say 10-15% more than you are consuming now. That gets the body back to burning energy instead of storing it. It can be frustrating and some people can stay stall for significant periods of time, but if you eat more protein and calories and get all the water in plus more, then you should see things moving.
  15. Your nutritionist would be the best person to give you that advice. It is going to be different from person to person based on your weight, your goal weight, metabolism, general health etc. For example I am almost 5 months, my nutritionist wants 1100 kcals a day, no more than 40gm carbs. Hard to accomplish, but I do what I can. Some folks aren't past 800 at this point. So you probably will want to have that discussion with your nutritionist.

    Feeling disapponted

What was your expectation for the amount of weight that you wanted to lose at this point? Twenty six pounds is a lot of weight in a short period of time. Were you expecting 50 or 60 in 9 weeks? Keep in mind that the surgery was on your stomach and not on your brain, so the desire to "cheat" isn't going away. It takes a lot of work to make WLS a success both physically and mentally. I totally understand that you want to get there as quickly as possible, I have the same rant myself, however it does take time. The surgery is only the first step in the process. You have a lot to work through in order for you to achieve your goal. Take a deep breath and stick to your plan, you will get there but it won't be tomorrow.

    Protein shake

There are several schools of thought about starvation mode. Mostly what happens is the body is holding on to the energy you have stored (fat) and is not burning it at an effective rate. The best way to get out of starvation mode is to consume more kcals than you are now. Say 10-15% more. This typically would be in the form of dense protein foods along with some complex carbs. If your protein shake is high in sugar and carbs it is most likely what your body is storing for energy. That could cause a stall or a slow down in weight loss. Without knowing exactly what else your are eating, it would be hard to pinpoint the exact culprit. Changing your shake isn't going to hurt but it might not be the answer you are looking for without knowing what else you are eating.
  18. Looks like what you are saying is fine. Your weight loss on your sig looks good. I would avoid breads and get the water up to 64+ that might help, but if you are losing the weight and not stalling out and feel good, I would say keep on keeping on.
  19. I eat 5-6 small meals a day of 1/3 cup. I'm almost 5 months out.
  20. It would be hard to tell since we don't know what your eating plan is right now. Typically some carbs are okay. Are you tracking what you eat? How much protein are you getting in? Water? Everyone is different, and everyone's approach to their post-op diet is going to be different. Unfortunately there is no one size fits all when it comes to WLS.

    Emotions of defeat?

A lot of people have the "WTF's" a week or so after surgery. Give it some time, okay? You won't feel restriction until you get to more solid foods. Try to relax and do the things that your Dr. and nutritionist want you do. It's going to be good, I swear
  22. My nutritionist has me on a 2 to 1 plan. Two grams of protein for every gram of carb. I don't look at fats.
