    Good Morning Gang OMG it must be time for old banders to contact me - I heard from Rose - remember her - she lived in Riverside - about 60 miles from me - Her Mom was sick w/cancer and passed - she may be moving to the Desert and wanted Realtor info .. Well - up early - got the car packed last night - dog food, pillows for my angel - and Apples cuz of you - healthy snacks planned - popcorn and jerky - wish it was Eva's jerky - but store bought will have to do -- Need to jump in the shower and figure out what to wear and take - but hell I'm only going to see DS & Sis so I don't have to look cute ;0) - will be back Sunday anyway - so it' not like I will be gone long -

    Good Morning Gang Karla - Hugs gf !!! How are you doing this morning - I have been thinking about you all night.. Wish I was there to help you during this time... Well up early got the car sorta packed - now gotta get shower and get dressed and figure what to wear and take - it's suppose to be cold 55 and rain - today - and tomorrow morning - Sun when I leave on Sunday Me and Angel - 7 hr drive !! - I got Jerky and popcorn to eat while driving - since I don't do fast food..     Karla - Hugs Hugs Hugs - We Love you Crying and being sad about the death of your Father is normal - it's not being a whimp - what are you teaching your girls - not to cry - it's normal to cry when someone dies - it doesn't make you weak - it makes you human.. Dear he did love you - it might not have been in the fathers knows best way - but it was his way -- there are no books on how to be a parent - they do the best that they can - just like you did with your girls - might not be perfect - but it was the best you could do - in fact perfect is mostly a story book ending and not real life.. Again it will be ok - it really will be - time will ease the pain - you will always feel the lost - you will always wish you could pick up the phone to say hi or ask a question - and you will remember he's not here - Cry cry cry - it's ok - it's normal !!! Be sad for the lost of him - it's ok to be sad !!! It's ok to cry!!! But it's not ok to eat your grief :0) - make a plan and say ok I will eat 1 day and that's it I will have my pity food party and then it will be over - that's a plan - I don't eat in these situation but after it's all over - after my bro died (10/18) - it wasn't until after halloween that I pigged out on candy - saying to myself I deserved it after what I had been thru - but you know what - it didn't help - just made me feel worse .. I bet your Dad was proud of you for losing the weight and you are right he wouldn't want you to eat the junk to cover your hurt.. Your Dad is with his heavenly Father (imho) God is a good God and all forgiving Your tweak of his toe - was your saying I love you - be right back - maybe he didn't want you to be there when he died - he wanted to spare you that.. Have compassion for your mom - she lost her mate - even if it wasn't the best of marraiges and you will find out - that some pple just want all the sympathy and they don't think of anyone else's pain - and from the way you talk about your mom - that's the way she will be.. We can't control others - we can only control us - and that's very difficult at time - so just let what other pple do or say go - Talk to your DD's tell them how much you hurt - they will be their for you - they are your family.. Talk to us - we too are your family !!! Poor out your heart - we will listen - I know that Steph, Me, Candice, Phyl, have lost our Fathers (don't know for sure about Denise and I know Karri still has hers)- we know your pain we have been where you are right now.. So Karla - lean on your daughters - Lean on us - that's what family is for.. Hugs & prayer Girlfriend !!!

    Jodi Clear liquids - just that - chick broth (home made is the best - so make a batch pre-surgery - freeze it) sf popsicles - juice low sugar - preferably sf - flavor sf jello - and I am not sure what else - I didn't have to to clear liquids one I got home from the hospital Full liquids include clear liquids and - cream soups (again homemade the best - I would make a pot of beans - scoop the beans out - pureed them added them back to the bean broth - cream of bean soup)- sf/low fat yogurt (dannon lite in fit or yoplia sf - or some greek yogurt flagu or something like that - i have never found it) - sf fudgesicles - protein shakes- sf jello flavored not plain ;0) - sf puddings Mushie/Pureed - Refried bean - oatmeal (weight control as it has more pt and less sugar) - cream of wheat - scrambled eggs - anything pureed - baby food ;0) - well baby food fruit is ok plum & peaches Soft - anythng you can cut with a fork Regular There is a food thread on the home page which will give you ideas My doc said 60 grms pt - 1 oz of meat = 7 grms of pt (rule of thumb 64 oz of liquid Banders don't dump - that's bypass Slime - when food gets stuck your body produces thick saliva to try and get food to go down - and it will bubble back up and come out your mouth.. PB - productive burp - when you get stuck - food doesn't go down - you will bring it back up - it's not like throwing up - no stomach acid - like a burp with food - but really it's a little more but not as bad as throwing up Stuck feels like a golf ball in your chest/stomach - its uncomfortable - no it's not like a stomach virus at all for me once it comes up I am find Protein - Bariatric Choice is a site where I get my protein supplements & vitamins (lapband) they sell Proti which is what my doc office sells - it's really a matter of personal taste and I don't know the diff between whey & soya or egg white (jay robb makes a good one like i said) to me it's all the same - but i'm not super technical on things like that.. They also have the clear liquid protein crystal lite drinks - I love the grape & peach mango - and tropical fruit.. When you go to your pre op visit your doc should cover all these things with you- I got a 3 ring binder with my diet for each stage and list of foods. The rule is low fat - sugar free - high protein - limited carbs eat slowly - chew very well and tiny bite (eraser size) I basically follow a WW type eating plan - I can't do atkins - I have to have some starches - and veggies and fruit - I consider all those things (veggie & fruit) as healthy.. when I say carbs - I really am refering to starches (white) Ok that's a quick version - you other banders - please put your 2 cents in cuz it's be 2 yr 7months since I was banded - I forget things that I did in the beginning. Oh ya - what I think is the most important - logging your food - counting calories & pt grams - .. Well it's 10 - I gotta hit the hay - will chat w/you all in the a.m. before I leave Hugs J

    Julie Hope you get some rest tonite - and girl - you do more than I do most days - Heck i don't think I could watch a 2 yr old like you do ;0)... Wash cook and clean and deal with the pain that you do.. WTG on no bread and by the end of lent I bet you don't miss it and if you have some it won't taste as good as you will remember it tasting Linda - where are you - heck Idol is over by now - so you know who got kicked off - so far I know the 2 girls and 1 boy - waiting to see who the last one goes home.. Kris Allen is on right now going to go watch him - I was glad he won last yr..

    Joyce - How long to you have to be on clear liquids - I was lucky I came home on full liquids - Have you tried making homemade broth - it taste so much better than the canned stuff... What's your food Phase schedule ?? I had full liquids 10 days - then pureed then soft then reg - 10 days each phase That's crappy about poor sportsman ship - that's an embarrassment on us.... I hate poor sports !!! Congrats Eva !!!! Have fun this weekend.. Guess who I heard from today !!!! Beckyo !!!! You newbies won't know who she is but Great - Charlene - JB & Apples (I think will) She's having some issues w/band - unfilled right now - say she's coming back !!! I am so happy she wrote me... Well I haven't done crap and it's almost 8 - well not much to do really throw some pj's clothes for Saturday and makeup in a overnight case - Taking Angel w/me - leaving Bear w/Andrew.. but I need to change - still in work clothes

    Ok Gang - you have been busy as usual Judy - Break a Leg & Have fun doing it !!!! Jodi - I love it !! You are a modern Jewish Mom - heck my gf (who was jewish) Mom - never cooked - we ate out all the time when I was with them - she never baked that I knew of - Starr and I ate a lot of bagels & lox - no cooking required (well toasting the bagel) The only test I had pre-op was blood test - won't tell you how many vials they took ;0) - but I did have pulmonary test where the did blood gas but that was part of all the test I had to do before surgery - my doc makes you do them all - mamo - colon- heart - shrink - nutritionist - lungs... But the only pre-op in July was the blood.. Eva - You are talking to an x-catholic school girl - the #1 rebel and still am to a degree - but rebelling against yourself is silly ;0) - but again it's that vicious cycle that we all go threw.. Thought - I deserve to eat what I want Response - If I want all the benefits of being heathier/thinner I just can't eat whatever I want without planning - I have to make "I deserve to be healthier/thinner and feel good about myself" a much higher priortiy than " I deserve to make spontanouse choices about what I eat. Sabotaging Thought - I don't think that I can accept the fact that I can't eat spontaneously Helpful Response - I have been giving myself chices about what when and how much to eat for a long time - so it feels natural and right to do so - on the other hand - I have to face the fact that spontaneous eating doesn't work for me - The more often I say No Choice to myself the less I'll struggle Rules to help stuggle over what to eat or not to eat Eat a substantial amount of protein veggies and fruit at every meal Don't eat any junk food until after dinner Eat only raw veggies while cooking dinner When eating out eat up to only 1/4 % more than I would usually eat when home ( I like this one ;0) These rules enable you to leave an afternoon reception feeling good and looking forward to dinner - they keep you from gaining more than a couple of lbs when on vacation - Following a rule eliminates the struggle over what to eat or not to eat There is one rule - however - that you have to commit to (you don't have a choice in the matter) You Must follow your food plan Ok that's my beckism for the day :0) - Great - Fritos !!!! they just found their way into your house !!! gf - buy a little bag and that's it - when you have to have a frito fix - not a big bag... 1st class - WTG Hugs on the Mom & Grandma issues - you are between a rock and hard place on that one - Cheri - glad nothings broken - hope you aren't in too much pain from the fall tomorrow.. Laura - I didn't know there was so much to be MG - well hell I didn't know there was such a thing ;0) Maybe when I retire I will get into it - I love flowers - I would love to redo my back yard - but I want maintenance free stuff - Phyl - love the bird story lol Apples - we miss you !!! Laura - enjoy the parents - they aren't going to care if the house is in tip top shape :0) Jessica - I used the unjury - choc and unflavored in the very beginning - but as far out as you are I wasn't using it - I didn't use all the choc gave it to gf who had by pass and the unflavored stuff I used the most - also Jay Robb makes a good egg white vanilla pt powder - mixed w/lite oj taste just like an orange Julius.. I also use to use and still do sometime - clear pt powder drinks that are like crystal lite - 70 cal and 15 grms pt - you can get them from bariatic choice website - Julie - How are you doing !!! Melissa - Still enjoying the new position - Oh I remember what I wanted to tell you- Apples turn me on to this cereal - Fiber One Carmel Delight - taste like cinnimon toast cereal - 1 cup 180 cal - I measure out a cup and snack on them in the morning at my desk - don't know the pt count but it's the kind of thing you can eat at your desk.. Ok I gotta go back - got the gps charging (can't find the car charger for it) got phone charging - need to pack - feed the dogs and who know's what else - I started this an hour ago.. Cbl

    Hey Gang Sorry MIA - Had gym last night - then had to take Andrew shopping - didn't get home til 7 - then had to cook dinner - feed dogs - etc - so I just didn't have time to get online.. Candice - Love the video - Have a safe trip !!! Have fun !!! Enjoy the warm weather - make sure you got your sun block.. Denise - I am glad everything is fine with your band - I know I worry about mine sometimes - What are your calories and 1/2 lb in a week is good - there were plenty of weeks that's all I lost - then the next week I would lose 1.5 or 2.. What are you calories and how much are you exercising - have you had your metabolizm ck'd - how many carbs are you eating>> Phyl - I agree water weight from eating out.. Ferry sounds fun !!! Has anyone heard from Linda lately - I was thinking about her the other day - and Steph.. Well I need to go pack - Mid 50's up where Joseph lives... cbl

    Linda I finished watching idol this morning (watch half last nite and the other half this a.m.) I agree the red head and I wanta hold your hand girl are the ones who will go if pple have any sense :0) !!! I think Ellen is doing GREAT !!! I think the 3 judges next yr will be her randy & kara... I read on AOL that Joannie (not sure that's her name) the canadian who lost her mom did very well - I will watch it tonite... Yes I agree her Mom would want her to compete.. it's suppose to be 68 here - I know spring weather for you all but still winter for me :0) Back to work :0)

    Good Morning Girls Laura - Well we all know I can't type or spell have the time - I drop words and write hear when I mean here ;0) I have been doing the treadmill since the beginning of July 07 and I guess it is habit with me now - It did feel good to be back in the swing of my routine - but since I am going out of town Friday (visiting DS) I won't get my Sat workout - may go Friday morning before I leave.. That's sweet that your parents want to be w/Nelson for bday - Grandparents get so much joy from their Grandkids - I know I do... Eva - New Beckism that I read last nite - No choices !!! I will stick with plan - and then something else but I forget - day 16 is where I am at - I will look up tonite and post - it was about working the brain resistance muscle ;0) Jessica - You will do fine on your test - give yourself credit :0) If your prior grades are any indication - you are one smart girl !!! Great - Israel is going to be so cool to visit !!! I figured you did a little shopping - First Class - OMW - one day I would like to fly 1s LauraK – QVC has 12 rose plants for $29 today’s special value – I want to order them – but don’t know where I would put them..     Linda -LOL - tonite is going to be busy - Idol - Olympic's Skating - Lost - Recording Olympic's as I can't stay up to 11 to catch it all... Melissa - You are too sweet !!! I rarely forget to eat - except when I am really involved in something - but at work I seem to be hungry - Good ideal to set your calendar - can you eat at your desk - that's what I do - and if I have food sitting on my desk - I will eat it :0) You will make it to our next get together !!! [ Julies - I use to watch YR and will catch it every now and then when I am off - but all the kids have grown up - I loved vicky & victor and of course Jack (he use to be cliff on all my children which I still watch) I do the drama's too and I love 48 hrs hard evidence- where they gotta catch the guy in the first 48 hrs - I love Survior this season... I agree kids need to know how to socialize with other kids - I know it helped my Brooke - It's good for her to go to the daycare a few days a week.. Julie - you do so well with your pain - remember we saw you in person and you handle it well - a lot better than I would.. Hopefully you get the mri now !!! Hugs Charlene - I am glad your pain isn't as bad !! I am ready for spring too but really our winter is most pples spring - we go from cold for us - to - Hot - I am ready for sandals and carpi's - Tired of my winter clothes.. Well gang - I went and did my cardio/treadmill tonite and it's offical - I am an exercise person- I think it's been 2 weeks since I have been on the treadmil - and it felt good to get back into my groove/routine...

Candice - Where are you today - we have skating tonite and American Idol - I got up this morning and watched last nights skating - I don't know why they show it so late - pple don't say up to 11 p.m. Well not this chick... Phyl - are you still traveling?? 78 today - listening to weather right now - sounds like I may have rain on my way up to Joseph's on friday ... Denise - How's it going !!! Food today BF - Pt Chips 1/2 bag 7.5 pt 70 cal Lunch 5 oz fish 35 grms pt - 175 cal Dinner is going to be a pork chop & veggies and maybe some mashed potatoes if room.. Here is some shocking news - I think I am an exerciser for life !!! I haven't been to the gym for my cardio/treadmill in so long - I would say at least 2 weeks - I went to night - did my 3 miles 45 mins 465 cal and it felt good to be back.... I worry that I will slack and get out of the habit - but gotta say it's a habit now and I don't think I have to be too afraid anymore.. Well just cking in - CBL

    Linda Hopefully so about nephew !!! Nothing wrong w/buffet - I haven't done one since banding - If I went I would take baggies - so that I could have some left overs for my $20 worth - I don't mind paying $$$ for a meal - but at a resturant I get a doggie bag - where as at buffets they don't let you - So I would sneak :0) - Yes I am a bad girl :0) or stay in there long enough to get my $$$ worth.. Charlene - Snow - lol - hopefully it won't last long or give you tummy/pain issues.. Judy - I watch Idol - heck me and Linda are the t.v. addicts of the thread I think - we got tivo/dvr's going and Linda even has a vcr recording (that's 3 show in 1 hr time- I don't have one (vcr) so I can only record 2 shows but then if I want to watch another - I have to go in the bedroom to watch :0) I have my popcorn during my t.v. time - one piece at a time.. What in the heck did you do to your shoulder???? Ya it's funny my knee hurt - got an mri - you aren't having a problem - but Julie can't seem to get crap from her insurance... well back to work :0)

    Good Morning Gang Melissa - I am so sorry I forgot to respond to you last night - thought about it in the shower this morning - OMG you all are on my mind 24/7 ;0) Sounds like stress is making you tight - just slow down - I know that if I am extra hungry - I will sometime think - ok you are starving - so make sure your first few bites are well chewed and don't eat too fast... Julie - I told sis that nephew needed bypass surgery - I hope he does something - cuz he's such a nice kid !!! Hope your doc appts go well today.. Apples - Have fun with DS - I will see mine again this weekend :0) Laura - How funny I was going to get after you next week about the exercise/gym issue :0) !!! Hugs on not being able to eat - our bands are so funny - one day tight as shit then next day wide open. Joyce - Glad you are doing good - Welcome to Bandland !!! Jessica - Vegas at night is beautiful !!!! I love the lights.. Great - Did you buy anything ?? Glad your knee didn't cause you too much trouble - I would hate flying that way - but since it's free I guess it's worth it :0) Well better get back to work - cbl :0)

Karri - Glad things have sorta worked out - I know some antibotic can get you hyper - I remember a gf who was on them (don't remember name) but if she drank any caffine with them she was like on speed ;0) - Candice - Yea Canada Gold Pairs Skating !!!!! Congrats !! You have the plan for Cuba - now stick to it - like beck says if you give yourself permission to vary from your plan the the more you are going to do it and not stick to it - I know pple think I am quite ridge in my appoarch but in reading this book I have been dowing what she says since day one (well mostly ;0) - 98% of the time) So girl - stick to it and give yourself credit for doing so - it is very empowering to have control !!! Well, food was good yesterday - exercised - feeling good - but I will feel better tonite after I hit the treadmil - haven't been on it in ages - got my new ipod and raring to go (yea right ;0) CBL

    Karri Hate that you had the runs and tummy issues - but glad to hear you are feeling better and that today was a good food day - how did things go at school today - with whatever the issue was?? Karla I loved it when I use to use the tanning beds - it's addicting and yes here in the desert they are used alot - it's too hot to lay out in the sun and the tanning bed is faster - I did it pre-cruise - so that I would have a base and not get burned on the islands - I loved going on my lunch hr - it was right around the corner from my work - I wanted to buy one for the house.. but now a days I use tan in a bottle and sun block - but if I was going on a cruise to the island - I would most likely go get a good base so I didn't burn.. Beck is good - it will make you think and disguish between hunger and cravings - and giving yourself credit - which gf I don't think you do enough of... You have a lot on your plate right now - with the house and your Dad. For me the Dad issues would not make me want to eat but the house part would - I know that sounds crazy but some stress makes me not hungry and some stress sends me too food.. Just do like Candice and get the crap out of the house - don't allow yourself to buy it - and if you do - then throw it away - your house has to be your safe haven.. WTG Candice - no more junk in the house - you are learning :0) and when those comericals come on - change the channel - I have been drinking sf hot choc at night too - it helps alot.. Well back from the gym - dinner is cooking - the dogs fed - talked to Sis and her stepson is in the hospital - enlarged heart and pneumonia - he's only 36 (i think) weighs 350 and I guess his heart was beating too fast - they had to use the paddles on him.. He's a short order cook (good one) and I guess both he and gf love to eat - I know the last time I saw him at my bro's funeral - he had but on a lot of weight - he's such a sweet boy - would do anything to help you.. Well guess I will hit the couch and watch Olympics from last night - Ya Candice I read on aol that they were chanting blank the USA... Very poor taste indeed - we are sister countries and I do get that we each want our teams to win - but that was bad especially in the Olympic venue on top of it Has anyone heard from Steph ??

    Jodi OMW - hope DD is ok !!! Well my 2 cents is enjoy while you can - I had last meal mentality pre-surgery - infact I gained 6 lbs between my consultation and my pre-op visit 5/31 to 7/6.. I know pple will disagree - but have a last whoopla - enjoy it - cuz next yr at this time or the next holiday after you are banded - your mindset will be diff - You will still want some of the treats and it will be find to have some - but once the weight comes off and you are feeling better and looking better you will have something and say to yourself - this aint worth the calories - and it doesn't taste as good as I remember.. Also - you can learn to bake and cook the foods you love with less sugar and fat (is splenda kosher ;0) - I know there are so many recipts out there that just by using splenda and applesauce you can cut the calories alot.. How neat that you get to help make a wish come true - that has to be so satisfying Well back from the gym - had a good workout - got dinner started - Dogs fed - Talked to Sis - her stepson in the hospital - enlarged heart & pneumonia - he's 36 or 37 max weighs 350... He's a sweet kid - short order cook and I guess his GF is big too - he loves to cook and eat - hopefully he gets his act together..

    No I didn't watch it - I caught up on my Lost programs - but I read about it this morning - I guess the Canadian's weren't too happy they chanted bad words !!! Yes I can't wait for the girl figure skating... That's my fav.. USA ALL THE WAY ;0) CANADIAN 2NDS :0) Denise - I agree if there was something wrong they would have gotten you in right away... I drank my acai berry power drink - so I am so so right now - got gym tonite - legs so I need the energy. WTG on your treadmil even though you are pooped.. Well just a quick ck in... Cbl

    Eva – Per Beck you just gave yourself permission to vary from your food plan with this (let's see if it goes that way): and the more that you allow yourself to vary the more you will – Per Beckism !!! So stick to plan – don’t allow changes :0) The urge to eat – I had that yesterday – it’s cuz I am beat and being tired is a big food trigger for me – but since I don’t have anything in the house that it dangerous I was good and I never left the house ;0). GF I want you to go in the jerky business for us ;0) not the world – we won’t require a license lol !!!! Isn’t it wonderful when you old becomes new again :0) Jessica – Yep it’s all about the planning – I made extra veggies last night so I would have them for the next few days for lunch – I plan most of the time – and the other part I am home – so I cook and like I said before – my house is my safe haven for healthy food – so I normally always have something healthy to eat or make. Linda – I can’t workout w/o my ipod – and I don’t know if this is karma or not – but DIL – SIL fell down the stairs and broke her leg the next day after being at my house – so maybe it was she who took it. ;0) Happy Weight – a maintain able weight – and you are so right – at our age it aint going to be 120 lbs – between 138-143 is my happy and maintainable weight without having to work too hard.. Judy – LOL Bridesmaid dresses – that’s too cute !!! Glad you had fun – that’s what it all about anyway – hell what are you going to find in a retirement community anyway – the old guys seem to like younger girls anymore anyway - . I just keep eating the same – I haven’t changed my eating – I use to go to the gym 4-5 days a week – now it’s 3-4 and may have an extra squirt of butter or bite of this or that in maintained – but truly my eating is the same – that’s why I am not dieting – if I changed my eating to my normal – I would gain weight – cuz I am a Paula Dean girl for my butter – and whomever is the sugar queen of the food channel Julie – Hugs gf on your pain – I wish I could do more !!!
