I know this started in March and it's now July but I gotta put my 2 cents in The band didn't fail you - imho you didn't do the work required to be successfull. The band is only a tool - it doesn't make your food choices for you and it doesn't exercise for you.. It's unhealthy to be so tight that you can only drink .. Losing weight isn't about starving yourself - it's about eating healthy - 3 meals a day - 2 healthy Snacks and exercise. It's about knowing how many calories you are consuming a day and how many excess calories you are burning. Losing weight is simple math... I was told the 1st day I joined lbt that the band wasn't the magic cure all to our issues with food - it's only a tool. Diets don't work - when you go off them and go back to eating normal the weight comes back on - light bulb moment our normal eating is what got us fat in the 1st place.. The band isn't going to lose your weight - you are - it's just a piece of plastic to make you feel full on a smaller about of food - that doesn't mean you are going to be satisfied on that amount of food - hell I am physicall full right now from lunch - but I still want to eat... Just cuz I feel full doesn't mean that my head still doesn't want more food.. Go back and start over - Keep a food diary - weigh and measure your food - eat off small plates - start some kind of exercise - talk to your doc - you can do this - you have the tool now you just have to do the work.. -

Found this in my email from some site I am signed up to.. how smart women lose weight Sure it’s important to have a healthy diet plan to lose weight, but if that isn’t enough, then consider this strategic plan used by smart women. The first time Jenn set out to lose those 20 pounds, she gave up sugared sodas. The second time, she ate only protein. She fasted, overdosed on raw carrots and counted fat grams. All of the diet tips and healthy weight loss plans she tried worked, but only for a while. Sheer force of will didn't keep her from chowing down when the impulse struck; nor did it get her into the gym. Not until Jenn approached her excess weight the way a new CEO might a faltering business did her 20 extra pounds disappear for good. Here’s the problem-solving approach that Jenn used to successfully supplement her healthy diet plan. The technique Jenn used is a systematic problem-solving approach developed more than 50 years ago to improve industrial production. Called "quality improvement" or "systems thinking," it means you: look at your problem as part of a larger system find things that contribute to the problem experiment by changing the system in some small way After you've seen the result of your change, you alter the system again to incorporate the new change, then look for other causes of the problem. Then you experiment with the other solutions until the problem is solved. If your problem is too much weight, you can use this method to change the behaviors causing it. Farrokh Alemi, Ph.D., associate professor of health-care management at George Mason University School of Nursing in McLean, Va. and his colleagues have tested what they call continuous self-improvement on 400 people seeking personal change, including healthy weight loss and exercising more. Not only has it been successful in changing daily habits, the changes have been long lasting. Here's how it could work for you. Step 1: Look at the big picture Shift from seeing your weight problem in personal terms and instead see it as part of a larger system that includes your family needs, social life, work hours and whatever else affects your exercise and eating habits, including any ethnic-food preferences and peer pressures. Once you discover how many outside factors affect your healthy diet plan and exercise, you'll realize that losing weight with willpower alone is almost impossible. "Using willpower for self-improvement is like applying brute force," Alemi says. "Using a systems approach is applying intelligence." Step 2: Define the problem Before coming up with solutions, you need to identify the real problem, says Linda Norman, M.S.N., R.N., associate dean at the School of Nursing at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., and one of Alemi's research colleagues. Say your favorite jeans are too tight. Instead of telling yourself you need to lose weight, Norman suggests you ask yourself a series of questions, such as "What's associated with the weight gain that's made my jeans tight?" (maybe the underlying problem is boredom at work or the pain of a bad relationship) and "What's contributing to my weight gain?" (maybe you don't make time for exercise, or you eat in response to stress and need to learn other stress-management techniques so you can successfully follow a healthy diet plan). "The more questions you ask," Norman says, "the closer you'll get to the root of the problem." "It also helps to 'frame' the problem positively," Alemi adds. "For example, you might look at weight gain as an opportunity to get fit." Finally, it's important to define the problem in a way that lets you monitor your progress and measure the outcome by how well you're dealing with the triggers that cause weight gain. Step 3: Brainstorm solutions Clearly defining the problem that is preventing you from achieving healthy weight loss will lead you to the solution. If you've stated the problem vaguely -- "I have to eat less" -- you've biased yourself toward dieting as a solution. But if you're specific -- "I need to change jobs or reduce my stress to protect my health" -- you'll probably think of several good answers to your problem, such as seeing a career counselor or starting a new exercise program. Write down every solution that comes to mind, then arrange the list according to priority, starting with the ones that contribute most to the problem or will have the greatest impact on the outcome. Step 4: Monitor your progress Make the first item on your list your first experiment. "Say the problem is that you're sedentary, and your first solution is to work out with a friend after work," says Duncan Neuhauser, Ph.D., a professor of health management at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland and another of Alemi's research colleagues. "You might experiment with using your noon hour to make exercise 'dates.' " After a few weeks, add up the number of times you exercised. If your first solution didn't work, try an evening exercise class or find a park where people walk or run after work. Win or lose, keep notes. "Measure your progress every day," Neuhauser says, "and put the results in chart or graph form. Visual aids are helpful." The data you gather will also make you aware of your normal variations. You may be more active on certain days of your menstrual cycle, for example, or you may always gain 2 pounds when you spend weekends with certain friends. "The data gathering is not just about keeping track of your weight," Norman says. "It's about tracking the process that affects your weight." Step 5: Identify barriers "There are going to be crises, external influences, times you have to eat Grandma's cookies," Neuhauser says. You'll have days when you can't exercise and days when you'll be tempted by holiday meals, and because you're tracking your progress, you'll be able to detect which events actually cause weight gain. "Overwhelming evidence from many areas, including substance-abuse research, shows that situations trigger relapses," Alemi says. "You need to find out which situations make you return to old habits." Once you're aware that working late makes you too tired to exercise, for example, you can test strategies for leaving work on time. If you blow your balanced healthy diet because you dine out with friends who always order too much, try hosting takeout at your house and make sure you order healthy foods. Step 6: Build a support team Some people lose weight with the help of a diet buddy, but for the best chance of success, you need the support of people whose decisions will affect your efforts. "When you make systemwide changes, your actions affect many people," Alemi says. "If you plan to lose weight by changing your food-shopping, cooking habits and strategy for a balanced healthy diet, then everyone at home will be affected. You're better off to engage them from the start." Start by educating these friends and family members about weight loss in general (including what lifestyle changes are necessary) and your goals in particular with regard to a healthy weight loss, then involve them in your daily experiments. "The whole group needs to agree to rely on the data," Alemie says. As results of your changes come in, including new, healthier habits, share them with the group. After all, when you finally do solve your weight problem, these people are the ones who will help you celebrate your success. They may even thank you for helping them, too. -

Hugs Cheri !!!! Tough situation !!! Hugs !!! Linda - love that story - so sad that she couldn't move on.. Yep I was where you are the 1st yr after losing the weight and then all the discusstions w/Idrise lately (you know the ones where I have been bitching about him) well if I let that wall down and really listen to him - I have been doing this I am making good choices - I am the one who chooses not to surround myself with junk - I am the one who chooses that Saturday is my treat day - I'm the one who chooses to go to the gym - I am the one who chose to start boot camp - I have changed... The diff now is that I have a healthy dose of fear - I am not wigging all the time if I have had a few cookies - I am in control.. I have the power... So do you - relax and enjoy - you have changed your lifestyle - you understand that it's all about eating healthy with a few (planed treats) and exercise.. Maintaining is a process - just like making the lifestyle change Charlene - Thanks :0) I know what has worked for me :0)

Candice Thanks you are so right - he wasn't a good fit - but he had such a loveable face - he was a good dog except for being a puppy.. Well it's done - I'll be ok in a week or so.. WTG on going back to zumba - and share on that book - I really hope you read something in there that gives you your ah ha moment.. I so wish that everyone would get that ah ha moment - it does make the journery a little easier when the light blub has gone off. I am so gratefull that for me it has - not that its always easy - but it is easier .. Karla you said something the other day - that sorta bugged me - "You are better than us cuz you wouldn't be binging" Sweety I will never been be better than anyone here... I am just very forunate that my light bulb went off - I still struggle at time - it's not always easy - I have my momemts but I am trying to accept that I do have power . You do have control – you just have to realize it – you are not helpless – food is not stronger than you. It’s not a living thing that imposes it’s will on use – it just food – it can’t control you.. I believe that we do have to give ourselves credit for being stronger than food – we give food it’s power over us – so it’s in our power to take it away !!! To take back our lives !!!!! That book women food and god – sounds really good – Oprah made a statement on Monday that made a lot of sense to me – you know when something happens like stress and we good looking for food – thinking that handful of almonds is going to fix it – ya the chemical reaction does seem to calm us (our drug of choice) we avoid our feelings – what’s wrong with feeling stressed – tired – sad. Those are all real emotions – and we need to learn to accept them and deal w/them and quit trying to avoiding them – we need to quit trying to self medicate w/food.. Oprah made the comment – Oh I’m not stress – I don’t have stress in my life – but then she realized that every time she did she self medicated w/food – even healthy foods (almonds) but as we all know too much of a good thing is just as bad as too much of a bad thing :0) This is a journey and we have a lot of things to work thru – it’s not an easy trip – a lot of soul searching is needed and that’s hard at time – we don’t want to deal w/our issues – we would rather eat them away… THE ABOVE IS - excerpt from my mentor thread... I AM NOT BETTER THAN YOU OR ANYONE !!!!! The only diff is that I have truly worked on me - I quit putting me down - I started truly lovung me - I deserve to be happy and have the best life I can have - it's not going to be given to me - i have to work for it - -

Love the pic of Zoey on the scooter - too cute !!!! Ya I remember Bella was the name of the dog you almost got - we almost named her Zoey (andrew liked that name) he comes up w/dumb names imho so I suggested names that I liked ;0) -I thought Angel was an average name - but when he looked Bella up on the internet it's very popular due to the twilight seires ... I guess that's a name of one of the charecters. Right now she's tan & black - but that's suppose to change red/silver - thats what andrew says anyway Andrew was talking to some lady at the ck out stand when he was working - she was a breeder - who had the pups - so it just worked out perfectly.. We still are sad about Ryder ... Hope they can convince them to move - they really need it.. I though I was out of the woods about taking care of elderly parents since mine are gone - but then realized I have my Uncle Charles he's not old yet - but w/this knee issue will have some responsiblities.. -
Laura My stepmom had cats that big and furry too - WTG on the luggage !!!! Paris here you come :0)

Phyl - Ya the liquids after a fill is hard - I really only do for one day.. You have done so well in the last 3 yrs !!!! You have a lot to be proud of.. Has anyone ck’d into assisted living for them… Steph – Glad to hear it !!!! You can make time to be accountable and you know that’s what we need.. Karla – Hugs on work – but you can still talk to customers – just don’t refer them to anyone – Say that it’s the office policy as if they don’t like them – then you can’t be blamed for referring them – that’s what we have to do.. Silly girl why are you figuring out your time – just do what you have to do and let the cards fall where they may – you are micro managing every second – chill – relax it will get done eventurally.. Well - we have a replacment dog !!!! I haven't taken a picture yet - but it's a dog that will fit into our household A yorkie - Bella - a little dog - it's the kind of dog that fits our lifestyle.. Can't do alot of damage - Andrew is very good as usual in potty training... Being the softie I am – I couldn’t say no and after being around Zoey – it made me want another little dog (she’s just so cute) but I didn’t tell that to Andrew – but still missing Ryder Angel, Bear & Sheba aren't afraid of it - they aren't growling at it - it's so tiny 1.14 weight will be a 5 lbs dog.. The house is quite w/o Ryder - and I'm still missing him (well sorta not missing the messes he makes and the puppy issues) but the dog it's self - his cute trusting face - I feel that I betrayed his trust and love for us by giving him away.. He will be taken care of and have a playmate his size – it will be ok – it’s just going to take a few day.. -
Thanks Great – Yep it was the best thing but as we all know doing the right thing is hard sometime – last night Andrew said do you think he’s missing us.. I’m still teary eyed about it today.. OMG – Great why did you tell her :0) lol – Thanks Apples – yep it’s the best thing all around – but my heart is so sad even today.. Laura Thanks !!! Yep animals take a lot of work and there is a big diff between little dogs and big dogs… Little dogs can tear up stuff but not the amount of damage a big dog can do.. Have a great time in Paris & London – You are so blessed… They have McDonalds lol he won’t starve ;0) – Don’t tell him what it is – just have him taste it – I love escargot !!! Have some for me too :0) Charlene – Hugs – IMHO Dr Janet’s – The shakes were good for a minute – but you have to re-learn how to eat and what to eat – You can’t live on shakes and 1 meal a day. You have to learn to eat real food that you enjoy – Remember this is a lifetime lifestyle change not a diet (shakes were a diet imho) – and yes eventually your body is going to crave veggies and meat more than carbs – You can still have them but not every meal – limited quantities – Since this last fill in January I really have been watching – were I use to have rice every night w/dinner - now a days I may have some sort of starch w/dinner maybe 3 days a week – I am usually full after my meat & veggies and don’t think I don’t want I do – but I have been easily maintaining my weight since January and that feels really good. Have a wonderful weekend Karen !!!! Great – Very well said – I was always afraid of goal weight – getting there was the easy part – but the mental anguish of staying here has been hard – and all those talks w/Idrise has helped me – I am the one who’s making the choices – I do have the power – I can do this – I have been doing this – and just cuz I have chocolate every now and then doesn’t mean I am going to go back to being 250 - it’s all head games – and we do have to have a healthy dose of fear – the operative word is healthy. You can and will do this – you will get those 15 lbs off – I have no doubt – you have gone threw some stress in the last few months – Love yourself for who you are – you are human and we make mistakes – but we can change those mistakes. Yep girl – we all need love smacks :0) Well gang I need to get to work – it’s almost 10 and I haven’t done anything – well 2 certificates – not in the mood to work – but it has to get done… Cbl

No Karla not binging - having some dog issues since last friday I discovered that Ryder has scratched up my car real bad - chasing the cat - Andrew said he was out of control when I was gone - So there's been alot of tears around here. I am sad tonite - we had to give Ryder away - Yes I didn't like him - but I did love him - I didn't like the puppy and he was just tearing up too much stuff - my car is all scratched up from him chasing the cat and if you leave him in the house while we are gone he tears up stuff - he's just too much for our house and Andrew isn't going to exercise him to help get rid of the energy (hell it's too hot right now anyway 115 + predicted for the next few days.) My Gardner took him - he has an 8 month old german shepard so Ryder will have someone his size to play with - and he will be allowed in the house.. I sure hope they treat him good (I'm sure they will - Sergio is a really nice guy) - he was a good boy - just too much for us - we really are a small dog house But I'm still crying and Andrew's pretty upset too (crying) but he knows that we can't have a dog that is going to tear up expensive stuff - with Bear & Angel we lost a couple sandles but that was it.. WTG Candice on the zumba !!!! Have you ever tried just one pill to see how you feel.. Yep Phyl - Zoey is a puppy she needs to explore - good exercise for you ;0) WTG on your loss !!!! Well gotta go ck dinner - Steak & fiber groument pasta and spinach - doubt I will eat too much - just a little stressed right now.. Did go to boot camp - came out looking like a drowned rat -

Charlene - Life isn't fare lol - and we have damaged our bodies and now we have to pay the piper.... The more exercise you get - if you can work with bands or light weights and build some muscle and make food you enjoy and that's filling for your 1000 cal a day.. I like veggies - so that's what I fill up on.. Cheri - I don't think you ever have to worry about me or Apples getting our feathers ruffled LauraK - Be careful - I think it's the one reason I'm not in a relationship - I don't trust my judgement - my heart gets in the way... well I gotta go cook - cbl Great - Phyl - Eva - Judy - Julie - Joyce - Laura - Hugs GF's !!! Candice - yep I was thinking of you when I was watching Oprah yesterday.. We don't have to have tramatic issues as a reason for eating - but we are covering up feelings I have always said I self medicate to go to sleep (eat) I may pick up the book myself.. Dinner - Candice I eat the same thing most nights last night fish - tonite steak and veggies :0) I have boot camp today - Lunch is fish & spinach :0) who know's breakfast some nuts :0).. Glad you had a good time w/kids... Well off to the shower -
OMG Apple back (WELCOME HOME) and starts junking up the thread again lol:thumbup: Cheri - LOL good cop/bad cop.... I love it... Apples is nicer than me - or should I say PC - I just tell you straight out put it down walk away and throw it away... I don't care about wasting food - better in thee than in me... Julie - I agree w/everyone - DH wants to fix you - he feels for you and your pain does affect him to... Whens the appointment at the mayo?? Linda - Sept will be busy month for me as my coworker goes on vacation.. Great - Bring your crochet stuff to Vegas - I will show you the little I know ;0) Havent done a baby blanket in 6 yrs we can put our heads together We have all screwed up our metabolisms with all the dieting that we have done - Weight training will help the more muscle you have the more calories you burn just breathing - it take more energy to pump blood into your muscles than it does to maintain fat.. Since I don't journal anymore - keep a mental tally of my food (and we all know how that isn't the most accurate way of logging calories - cuz I would say we forget at least about 300 a day)- I most likely eat about 1300-1800 cal most days and work out at least 3 days sometimes 4.. Apples Hugs on the vertigo and glad your DS is home for a visit - it will be good for all of you.. Phyl - Welcome to my world - dogs on their own timer and the do get use to your schedule - Andrew says that around 4 Angel is always waiting at the garage door for me to come home.. Well it's 8:40 haven't eaten yet - am hungry - fish spinach rice for dinner tonite - BF was nuts - lunch Chick & Veggie and I'm hungry - Hugs to all - Talk to you all tomorrow xoxoxo Janet

OMG laughing my ass off on that one Phyl - you hung up on her lol - older pple who don't understand tech stuff lol.. Hugs on Uncle Ed - sometimes when pple are sick they need insulin - I know my dad was diabetic but when he was in the hospital he need it (insulin).. Can they get someone (visiting nurse to come in) How scary about Tracy- Kaitlin told me on the way to the airport that a girl she knew (here in the desert) OD on Oxycontin last week - she's the same age as Kaitlin 15.5 yrs old (you know you gotta add those half yrs when you are 15 ;0) - Kaitlin said she was a beautiful girl - but she got mixed up w/some boy who did drugs.. Ya I showed here how to cook - told her she needs to help out more at home - that she needs to cook and clean for her mom - she's on the lazy side.. I love her w/all my heart - loved her visiting - but glad to have the house back to me and Andrew - she eats diff than us or should I say Andrew - I am not cooking 3 meals ;0) 2 I can do - don't think anything of - have done it most my life - Joseph didn't like stuffed bell peppers - so he had rice and hamburger patties on those nights.. -
Or you would freak out like reefer madness - I think we should get Cheri - Plastered !!! What to you think gang - it won't take much.. Phyl this is the internet - so can't put to much info on here - but will see what we can do about your bucket list lol:biggrin::confused::cursing:

Good Afternoon Karla - I just want you to think more postitivly.. I every time you have a negative thought - say stop and think of a good thought.. I do it all the time.. When we think and act negative that's what we get.. Hugs on your Dad & Mom - the 1st yr is the hardest... Does your house have a/c?? Yep get smart water or lite gatoraid or whatever that has eletricolites in it.. Took Kaitlin to the airport - now going to go get comfortable and maybe a nap :0).. cbl -
Joyce how cool what your dh does - meeting new pple all the time - to you get discount at resort :0) Eva - I got pretty good muscle for an old broad ;o) and I am very proud of where I have come from. But I would like more - wish I had done this in my 30's - but alas I can't change the past - I am happy where I am at.. Overcast and sprinkling here.. 96 was what my car said.. You are greener than me ;0).... I'm not green at all ;0) Where is there judgement ??? Your addiction was talking - I think we all get that.. Cheri - ya you need to get plastered at least once !!! Lori - I know - I was JK ;0) - I figured it was planed ... 24 hrs to live yep being w/family would be the ticket and a little choc Judy are you pmsing lol - you very sensitive.. I don't think anyone was judgmental.. If you had a crystal ball to know when your time was and want an unfill - go for it.. I don't think anyone would really care one way or another if you ate.. For me even if I was still morbidly obese - I would have chosen family over food.. Ya the world is made up of all kinds - some who want to be right all the time and some pple who don't give a flip what others think.. I'm the one who doesn't give a flip what others think - I don't ask for advice - Cuz I think I know what's best for me.. Hell I might not go to Ireland by myself - I would go on a curise by myself - but like you going w/a friend is always better.. But I understand what the lady was saying - we can miss alot of things that we would like to do cuz we don't have someone to go w/us.. I love that way of thinking - but am I going to do it - doubt it.. (go on vacation by myself)

Good Morning Gang Phyl - Yep I told my uncle all about you and great - but he's really scared I think of the surgery- he's sorta crabby ;0) at times (family trait ;o) he goes 7/20 for mri - he goes to the vet hospital in Loma Linda.. I love being LaLa instead of Grandma... I don't mind GM but love having a little diff name - well not that dif Linda is LaLa too ;0) I can leg press 10 plates @ 45 each plus the bar which Idrise says is 50 so 500 - but on the average I do 6 plates so that's a little more than 300 lbs - on the inny/outty machine 120/130 - the machine that you sit and raise w/shins 85 to 100 and the one you push down w/calfs same - but again I have been weight training 2 yrs now (3/08) and I don't have any major knee/hip issues either... Joyce - Peaches wears one - I don't conflicts w/my jewelry ;0) I carry an med emergency id card.. google lapband id bracelet Julie - lol about using your sprinklers - here in the desert we would die without them - Hugs on DD being afraid... Eva -dinner sounds good - am having bbq chick today - omg girl you are green - fixing your washer to water your plants - what do you do about soap & softners?? Great - Smores :0) LOL in the same sentence on getting back on track :0) - I am just kidding - treats are allowable :0) Judy - yep pb on the healthy food and can eat a quart of ice cream - and really you would get an unfill - truly - nope I would have a wonderful vacation - you know those house on the water in like Tahiti Linda - I hear you on the fb issue - hell i waste way too much time on it - but it's better than t.v. ;0) Charlene - No getting unfilled - there are plenty of things to do than eat if you where going to die tomorrow... Family memories - food ah hell no... I know of pple who get unfilled before vacation - what's the use of getting the band.. I can still eat all the foods I love - just not as much of them now a days - and truly the food I really love (sweets) I still can eat even banded.. Apples will be back today or tomorrow - junking up the thread again :0) !!! Can't wait :0) Glad to have you back... Well need to jump in the shower - gotta take Kaitlin to the airport in a little bit and still need to read the paper

Tiny Sips - Get some of those waters that has electricolites in them - smart water - pedilite - lite gadoraid Phyl love the blankets !!! Candice - Enjoy -
Good Morning Peeps... Up early as usual !!!! Phyl it was PJ who had headaches - I am pretty sure I told her to go to doc - nothing to mess with.. Melissa - Hugs on the caffine headaches - I'm lucky I don't get them - but again - I ALWAYS have my coffee in the morning.. It's funny I got on the scale this a.m. down 1.5 lbs - guess the little bit of extra sugar last weekend and healthy eating this week has jumped my metabolizm ;0) gives me some playing room this weekend.. Got gym at 8 - Legs weights - then home to wash and clean up some - maybe get some rest - tomorrow have to take Kaitlin to airport by 11 - then see my Uncle w/the bum knee Great I told him 3 weeks of not feeling well - he's focused on the 2% that have problems - I think he's really afraid of surgery period - but if he doesn't get it - he will be in a wheel chair..
