    COMPULSION to eat?

    Hopeful You know the answer - you just don't want to acknowledge that it's you who is sabotaging yourself.. By continuing to eat like you use to - that's what got us fat in the 1st place Quit eating junk food - I don't care how tight you are - you are still going to be able to eat around your band... It's only a tool - you gotta chose your food.. If you are hungry - eat meat - dense food that will make you feel full and if you aren't full after eating your meat move to veggies.. You don't have to turn to junk food when you are hungry.. If you want something sweet - eat a sf pudding - sf fudgsicle - if you want salt crunch eat a 100 cal snack pack of popcorn Also - full does not equate to being satisfied... I will eat my dinner - be physically full but still want to eat - still crave food - this is head hunger and the majority of our hunger is in our heads not our stomachs - especially now that we are eating a smaller amount of food - our heads tell us - oh that's not enough or we want more of the taste of whatever we are eating.. Start keeping a food diary - Are you exercising?? Does your doc off have a nutritionist to work w/you.. How about support group.. Pull up those bootstraps - Realize that you have to change your eating habits - You gotta eat healthy - You gotta move (exercise) - Your band will help - but the work is really up to you..

    I didn't have a problem w/dinner - I normally ate my appetizer - meal & dessert :0) - might not have cleaned my dinner plate - but ate a good majority of it ;0) Look this morning at fb - she posted her before pic's - I guess that lady is eating her word.. She should !!!! Tracy Welcome - You can never go back to eating like you did pre band (food choices) that's what made us fat in the 1st place - When do you get your 1st fill - in the mean time always eat your protein 1st then veggies and if you have any room starches.. You gotta remember why you had major surgery - it's up to you to make your food choices - even once you get to your sweet spot - as we can all eat around our bands if we chose to.. :0) yep little girl you can ;0) Good Morning Peeps Up at the crack of dawn as usual - got my linen closet straighten out - 1 load in the dryer 1 in the wash - need to mop Julie - how are you doing today..     Good Morning Gang How cool Candice !!! Glad your gig went well - but I knew it would - You now have your retirement career ;0) Leg cramps - drink tonic water Karla - You will get it all done - don't sweat it - you will need to post pics once it's installed.. When you get time ck fb and vote for Phyl on her before & after pics she posted !!!! Up at the crack of dawn - Bella just doesn't go more that 4 hrs w/o needing to pee - but what the hell - I don't need sleep - don't know what I am doing today - may clean out the pantry.. I got food in there that must be expired ;0) Need to do a little wash and mop the floors - vaccumed last night before Candy came over.. Happy Saturday - at least I don't have to go to work ;0)

    Karla Glad you had a good time ... My gf Candy came over - left just a little while ago - I need to eat and head to bed I had the same calcification - I had to have a biospy they were nothing- then had to go back 6 month was clear - then went again in 6 months cuz now it was a yr - the found a lump behind my nipple - nothing and I think I had another set of calcification biopsyed too - I forget now - I know I have a few markers left in my right or is it my left breast - I don't remember but for the last 2 yrs I've been clear.. So go - it's better to get it early ... Well gang - I am going to go eat.. Oh ya Karla - that's the thing about andrew not being here - I will have to come and feed the dogs before I go out after work - I don't do it often - but every now and then..

    Sandy - Ya prices aren't bad - LOL on your script issue w/doc - I was lucky - haven't really had any issues w/menopause - get my own personal summer every now and then but nothing to write home about.. Hope you enjoyed your evening... Charlene - those lbs are going to start flying off w/the help of that trainer - I lost 25 lbs in 3 months once I started working out w/weights.. Will have to ck that place out - I've always wanted to go to Belize.. Great - you had me LMAO on the trainer part ;0) Yep I will have us up early - like 6 - coffee 1st (gotta have that) and then by 7 - 7:30 we will be up on the top deck - walking !!!! We all will have to have Janet's Posse T-Shirts !!!! I agree about eating on a cruise - I had no problem - I even ate at the buffet for bf & lunch - Dinner was the only time I ate in the dinning room - Jessica - you better go in on Monday and get some taken out - You gotta be able to eat - Hugs on Jake - it will all work out.. Julie - Hope nothing bad is going on - Hugs Melissa Congrats !!!! I worked for a family business once - it wasn't bad.. Yea no snack machine - and you CAN get up early and walk.. Eva I love cruises - everything in one spot.. You should see on fb - about 6 lbt'ers - all gave props to Phyl about her weight loss that stupid lady has to feel really bad - good for her.. 10 more days you can hang !!! Joyce - I wish I could put my summer stuff away - still in the 100's here - but hopefully next week it will be cooling down How's your DD.. Well my gf came over to visit tonite - left just a little bit ago.. Don't have any plans for the weekend.. May do some nesting We will see what tomorrow brings..
  6. 3 yrs ago today I was 52 yrs old who couldn't walk a flight of stairs without being winded - I measured whatever I did on how much physical activity would be involved (if it was too much I wouldn't do it) - I was eating and sleeping my life away. Fast Forward 3 yrs - I am now 55 yrs old - I feel 10 yrs younger - have more energy than a 30 yrs old (you know the 50's is the new 30's ;0). The secret you ask - There is no secret really - this is truly all about making a lifetime lifestyle. I haven't dieted since I was banded - not one day... Diets don't work!!! I realized that - I finally realized that the reason that I always regained the weight was cuz after I lost it - I would go back to eating "normal" and quit exercising.. Well the light bulb finally went off - My eating normal and lack of exercise was what got me fat in the 1st place.. Today I eat healthy... Lower fat - less sugar and I hit they gym 3-4 times a week. I followed the rules - I eat my Protein 1st - I don't drink w/meal eat off small plates - tiny bites - chew very well - 3 meals and 2 healthy Snacks. I still allow for treats (cake Cookies fried foods) but they are now treats - not something I eat in unlimited quantities - 24/7 - 365. If I go to a birthday party - I have a piece of cake & ice cream - I go out w/friends and have a couple cocktails etc.. Remember this isn't a diet - but a total lifetime lifestyle change.. It's all about our food choices.. For the 1st year - I kept a food & exercise diary - for the 1st few months I weighed and measured my food.. These things were learning tools - Pre-band - 2 cups of rice was a serving size and I had to learn what a real serving size looked like (1/2 cup) I was lucky cuz when I first joined lbt - I was told that the band was only a tool - it wasn't going to lose the weight for me - that the real work was up to me.. Yes it has been work - there are times even today when I still want to eat when I am physically full - but that's head hunger not real hunger and that is something that takes a long time to recognized the diff between. There are days that I might not feel like going to the gym - But again - if I want those treats - if I want to maintain my weight loss I now know that I must move/exercise and this is coming from someone who avoided any kind of exercise at all cost.. You could almost say that today I am a little bit of a gym rat (not totally 1 hr is my max time spent in the gym on any given day).. My latest thing is boot camp where I really work up a sweat.. I also love my weight training !!! Muscle has replaced the fat !! Oh next you are going to ask - what about the flabby skin issues.. Yes I have bat wing - Yes I have the saggy skin - but gotta tell you that flabby skin isn't going to kill me but 114 lbs of fat was. So I deal with the skin issues and I have learned to accept my body (well pretty much of course I have days that I hate myself for ever letting myself get fat in the 1st place) and a pair of spanx's helps the rest of the time.. So peeps - it can be done - I am no diff than you... I am a food addict - now I am in recovery - I have learned that food isn't going to make my problems go away - it's not really doing anything for my boredom - and that temporary comfort that it gave me no longer out weighs what the adverse effects where doing to me. I have taken my power back and that is empowering in itself.. Last week I walked down the candy isle at the grocery store and snubbed my nose at it as it was calling my name - I actually said (in my head of course) You no longer have power over me - if I want a candy - I will buy 1 candy bar - I am no longer buying it by the bags and consuming it all in 1 nite.. That was an empowering day !!! So to all of you who are doing your research on the band - Please know that you can achieve your goals - But there is work involved and YOU have to do the work and not rely on the band to do it for you. You gotta follow the rules - You gotta make this a lifetime lifestyle change - the band is only a tool it doesn't make your food choices and it doesn't exercise for you - it's not going to lose the weight - it's going to make the hard job of losing it a little easier but the real work will be up to you.. The band will make you physically fuller on a smaller amount of food - but it's never going to take away your head hunger and that's where the work comes in - learning the difference between the two.. Like my signature says Eating healthy + Exercise + Band = SUCCESS (in that order)

    Nancee A bit of advice - that the words Try & I Think out of your vocabulary - Replace them with I WILL & I KNOW... I used positive affirmation during my journey and I still do.. If you think you can't you won't - if you know you can you will. ;0) You can never ever go back to your old habits - they are what got us fat in the 1st place.. I have a healthy fear of food (well imho I do ;0) I allow splurges/treats about once a week and don't flake at the gym to often - Sometimes life gets in the way - but 98% of the time I eat healthy.. You can do this !!!! Pull up those boot straps and move forward.. Glad you are getting the support you need - LBT has been that for me.. Hugs Janet

    Laura - Hugs on waiting I just did a quick price ck on the one our of NO and included air for me total cost $1675 (approx and this is a balcony -ship is $950 air $722) that's just cruise and air - I would want to have 1 extra day in NO - I think before the cruise - cuz after you are pooped and just want to get home For me it makes more sense to do a 7 day cruise as I have to pay air and it's the same if its 4 days vs 7 - so might as well get more bang for my buck.. Charlene - WTG Girl on your 2 lbs !!!! So you told your doc about us - he should have us on his t.v. show ;0).. I sent a show suggestion to Oprah today - On 1/29 her audience should be made up of pple who share her bday (that would include ME) and they should invite ME ;0)

    Phyl no problem w/the scooter - My trunk is pretty big - we can drop off our luggage and go back and p/u pple at airport. Laura - Ya my DIL has to do the same w/vacation too... OK We need to vote girls - the prices shown don't include air - but most of us get the 55+ discount :0).. I don't think we want to go Easter week which in 2011 is 4/24 I'm cool with any date really - so who's in - hell we could go to belize w/charlene ;0) are you crusing.. Will have to wait for apples to come back on Tuesday..

    Met My Goal of Losing 100lbs

    My original goal was 170 - got there once with Weight Watchers - thought I looked pretty good at that weight Once I got to 180 I then moved my goal to 160 - I wanted to move it to 150 but was afraid to put that in writing cuz I didn't know if I would get there. Well I got to normal bmi in 1 yr 1 week and lost the next few lbs in the next few months (quit tracking after I got to goal) and have maintained my weight loss for the last 2 yrs - by doing the same thing eating healthy and exercising. It finally hit me that my old eating habits are what made me fat in the 1st place - I can never go back to eating my normal - high fat - high sugar and sitting on my butt 24/7 and expect to wear a size 4 - that behaivor is what made me morbitly obese and wearing an 18/20 pant and 22 top.. It is acheivable.. You can do it... I have not dieted since being banded - I am eating healthy and exercising - Go for the gold Girl - You can do it !!!

    whats it feel like

    Loving anything is what helped us get to where we are (needing wls) I can eat lite (90 cal for 2 slices) sandwich bread - but I don't do it often - why - starches make you retain water - goes straight to fat - you know the blab blab blab about carbs/starches and it has no nutritional value. Please know I'm not an Atkins person- I do eat my starches - but I limit them. Everyone tolerates foods differently - you may be able to eat bread - you won't know till you get to the normal stage. Some can - some can't - for me I can eat almost anything - corn on the cob and stringy meats give me a problem - but as long as I eat slowly and chew and tiny bites I can eat anything.. Also one day you can eat something and then the next day you might not be able to Just becareful w/the starches - Follow band rules - protien 1st Good luck on your journey
  15. Your gallbladder doesn't have anything to do with losing or not Losing weight is all about the foods/calories your are consuming and the amount of exercise you get.. Start keeping a food diary/counting calories to track you food consumption and are you exercising..

    Hugs Cheri on DD issue and what a great thing to do in Michales memory... You are so right... LauraK ;o) I would think smoking would make you want to smoke - I know if my dh would lite up - it would make me want to lite up ;0).. I smoke outside for the most part so it's not really a biggie to room w/me ;0) - just the cost of having a balcony ;0) I don't know why I was mushie yesterday - This month would have been my Dad's 90th bday - My nephew's bday is on the 21st - my bro will be gone for 2 yrs next month - I was thinking about my kids (DS DIL GK'S) and all the love I have for them.. Eva - Thanks for arranging all that !!!! Yes I had my mamo on 8/5 - I go every yr since I had sugery - plus I have aflac so I get $$ for just going ;0) incentive right there.. 6 weeks off ;0) the 1st few might not be great but - and girl you better follow directions of your doc.. Which DD will come and stay w/you for the 1st few days.. They can have my boobs - I don't care - I rather live - but would have reconstruction if it happen now - but not at 65 - my aunt got it back in 99 and she was over 65 they call it old age cancer and not neccessary in my genes - but since she had it and my great aunt Tilly - I do get my mamos ;0) Candice - how did it go last night???     Welcome Marw Have you called your doctor - that's what you need to do 1st. Is it all the time or at night - I get it sometime from just drinking Water - but a chewable normally works or chewing gum - I have it (heartburn) a little more lately and I will take store brand acid reducer and it works - I usually get it if I have eaten too much - especially before bed.. Call your doc in the morning and tell him..
