I am Catholic - I am Pro-Choice - I don't assume that God is a christian God - I am a open minded religious person. I beleive in Judisiam, Islam, Buddah, Jehovia Wittness, Baptist, etc.... I beleive in allowing people to choose there own form of worship.. I do impose my belief system on others. I believe we all believe in the same God (you can insert any word you want) but in different manners. And if your God is a higher power - or no God at all - that's up to you. Your Choice ..... Pro-Choice... I am not God or anywhere close to it... So who am I to judge anyone... -
I would like to know too... Does your stomach erode or does the band and if your colon gets pucntured - aren't your going to die from the posioning.... My Dad's colon burst and he was in the hospital when it did and due to the surgery and bad heart after about 3 weeks he passed away.... This is why i don't want bypass I don't want anyone messing with my intestines

Welcome Mamota and Congrates on your date !!! We all could be diet doctors - we all have been on almost every diet there is out there - we know what we are doing wrong - the problem is that we can't help our selves - we need the tool of being banded... We are addicted to food - we are worst off than a druggies as they can quit drugs and keep them out of the house - We need food to live - so our drug of choice is in our face every day... No wonder we fail... With the band we have the tool to help us control our intake I'm in the preband mode - doing all the testing - hopefully Aug I will get banded. Good Luck and will keep you in our prayers

Denise I would say kick this guy to the curb.. Don't waste anytime with him cuz it really sounds like he does have a drinking problem. And girlfreind you can get a hunk - don't settle for less than what you deserve.. He might not be mr olympaid - but he will be your hunk if he has all the qualities that you want... My verision of a hunk could be totally different than your. This is one reason I'm not out there looking - I don't have the energy to have to meet 20 million guys to hopefully find that one. If he fell in my lap that would be great - but most guys our age who are divorce are divorced for a reason. Gook luck.. but seriously kick this one to the curb - he has already given you the warning signs (calling you 11:30 p.m. drunk) -

Ok girls - I am going to put my 2 cents in - Have any of you read the book "women who love to much" - I read it a long time ago and it's really alot about bad boys vs good guys. I don't know what your previouse relationships have been about - so i can't say it "You not haveing chemsitry right away is part of that or not" I think that chemistry can build as you get to know someone (it's not all about the sex, its about what you both want from life) I would take a Nice respectful - loving medoicer (sp) guy over a self centered hunk any day. It's all about what you want for yourself - guys in their 50's are going to have a tummy - loosing their hair - etc - and how many hunks do you know who date fat chick anyways. As long as they have the quailities you want "have their own house, car, aren't druggies or alcohalics" ansd your aren't like totally replused by them - Date them get to know them and who knows what will develope... Imho -

Thanks !!! You are in AZ aren't you... I will check this site out - I have never of Suntheanina before - I take meds for hb and worry about stuff interacting w/it.. It's going to get hot here towards the end of the week 106 + - so far it's been pretty nice here - barely 100... But since i am a desert rat (lived here all my life) anything below 110 is cool -

Thanks!!! This stuff sound great - not banded yet but all these doctor appointments are stressing me out. It's a chill pill in a dropper bottle ... Do you know if it has any warnings - like do take this if you are taking that?? I know that some of that herbal stuff dosen't mix well with other meds sometimes... Glad you are drinking again - that's what i am going to miss this most is gulping nice cool water when you are really thristy... I live in the Desert and it gets HOT... Gotta have that water.. -
BigHarleyGuy You are luck you don't have to do the marathon doctors visits - I have plumonary test chest xray, cardio, sleep apnea - then visit with plumanary dr. shrink, mamogram, pap, colon and then blood work and i guess depending on what all these say - i will get my surgery date.. Oh i guess i should be thankful - I didn't / don't have to have a PG test ;o)

How is weight loss for people over 50?
IndioGirl55 replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
green - send over the Italian stallions, I'm worried about the "use it or lose it" situation, my hubby died 6 1/2 years ago, I am worried I've been on the shelf too long! Have a great weekend! DynamoMini Mine has been on the shelf for 5 yr and really don't miss it. I just figured i used it all up in my 20's 30' & 40's. But i was reading on another board today that alot of women get their sex drive back when they lose weight. I don't know if that's such a good thing when you don't have anyone to use it with":guess Also on this board they were talking about transfer addiction from us being foodoholics to becoming alcholics - sexoholics - shopoholic I am already a shopoholic:biggrin1: Has anyone here found that they have transfered their food addict to something else?? And why is shrimp hard to eat on the band - wouldn't it be the same as anything else - chew chew chew - I love all sea food - heck I love all food truth be told and that's why i'm fat:eek: -

DLW Welcome ... This is a GREAT place to find info and meet really great people. I'm not banded yet, but have been on this board for a little while and went to a support group last night for banders. (in fact met a women there who i first met here - so that was cool) and like the ladies before said you have to chew everything to death and them some. The Doctor who performs the surgery was there to answer questions. On the gas part he said that the use co2 which disapates real fast and it should not be a problem - 1 girl who was 39 said she had a little but after 2 days she was fine and the other lady who was 50+ had no gas It was really a great group - small 3 banders and 3 pre-bander. I am in the process of doing my marathon doctors appointments so that I can be banded and if i wasn't ready before I am now after that meeting. But this has to be your personal choice - being banded is just like everything else in life - it depends on the individual - I can eat jalapenos and be ok where as you can't - You and I go to the same doctor - you have a great experience and I have a bad one. Read, Read, all that you can on this board - go to a support group for banders in your area and talk to real people (not saying that people are real here but you know what i mean). I thnk that will help you immensely in your decision. My AH HA moment last was I want my life back... Good luck on your journey. -
I am getting nervous about getting banded
IndioGirl55 replied to cattiff's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Cat & Everyone I don't have a date yet - Right now am going throught my marathon of doctors to clear me for surgery - Hopefully all these appointments will be done by the 1st of July and then i can schedule a date. Went to a LB support group meeting last night it was GREAT!!! - I got to meet a girl from this site Pamela aka Kity - She was banded in April and omg she is such a fun person - Since we had emailed previouse and had met here on this site - It was like seeing an old friend - we had 2 other banded people there one older & one younger and 3 of us pre-banders - the Doctor was there to answer questions and his assistant. OMG it was really great - I want my surgery today... I was going to blow off going to this meeting as it's a tad of a drive (aobut 30 minitues) it at 6 p.m. I have worked all day and am tired.. But I said No you need to go. And do you want to know some thing I had an AH HA moment during this meeting and after reading the material given - I HAVE BEEN ISOLATING MYSELF FROM THE WORLD. The reason i did attend was cuz i knew that there would be "fat" people like me, who understood my struggles with the weight - who wouldn't look at me as a non-person. I declared last nite and today - I WANT MY LIFE BACK.. I am tired of isolating myself and that's what i am doing as i AM ashamed of myself for being fat. You know if you asked me this question before - I would have told you No i'm not ashamed - I am me except me as i am (fat or skinny) but you know what - I am a different person fat than if i were skinny. My weight does affect who i am.- OMG i really am having some great revalations as i write this. I think a wall was broken down last night - I am free - free at last... Advice - if you have support group sessions - go to them they are a great inspriation, insight, probaly almost as good as a shrink expecially if your shrink is skinny - she/he really can't relate to your fat issues. Were as support group can - and since this support group is made up of people who are reclaiming their lives and comming to an understanding about their issues and food. This site is great for the support and i will continue here but it is so nice to have actual people to interact with and meet. Not nervouse any longer.... This is what I need to do and my conviction that this is the right thing for me is 1,000,000%... -

IndioGirl55 replied to cattiff's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I, too, am scared - Somedays excited and can't wait - somedays - omg what am i doing is this the right decision. I'm not too worried about going under - it's the band - I don't want to throw up - i don't want bping - i don't want slime - I want to lose weight and control my portions. I am sure the band will do this as long as I FOLLOW THE RULES. I also think that giving up our best freind FOOD is part of it too. Good luck - this place is great, you couldn't ask for better people to help you on this journey. -

Big as Life Congrates on your 32 lbs - I'm 52 and we have the same bmi - how tall are you?? i'm short 5'3. It's very encouraging to see someone in our age bracket doing so well.. I am pre-bander - jumping through all the hoops (test) etc right now - should have my date shortly.. Sometimes i get discouraged when I don't seem that women in our age bracket are lossing very much or should i say very slowly - I KNOW that this is a 2 yr process but we still all have that I WANT IT NOW mentallity. sdkellygirl - Welcome - this is the greatest place for info..... -
Hi Paty Welcome, I see that no one has responded to you. And was reading somewhere yesterday that there was a girl who never got responses and she felt left out. Your post is on page 2 - so it's not seen by everyone. I am 52 - 5'3 244 live in Indio CA (my Dad was from NY & NJ) and have been overweight most of my life (skinny from 14 to 25) I am in the pre-band mode - have met with surgeon - now doing all the testing - I will have a complete physical - lungs heart boobs colon by the time all the test are done - Hope i pass them all - after 52 yrs of eating smoking and not exercising I may have some problems - but so far lungs seem ok (did that test yesterday) This is a great place to gather info and get support - People are very friendly here and helpfull. Check out the post ask questions and you will get reply. My best to you on your Journey to be Healthly - Cute & Slim

How is weight loss for people over 50?
IndioGirl55 replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Had my appt w/Dr Bobbie 5/31 - he said i was a good canidate. Now have to have 1 mil test .... Did pulmonary today (tech said i was normal for my age weight & smoking - I know I have to quit :-) Still have to have cardio, mamogram, sleep apnea, nut, shrink, colon, pap, blood work. Have made some of the appts - still need to make 3 more - hopefully tomorrow i will get to make the other appointments. Question - i have a hard time finding this thread is there a way to mark it as a favorite someplace here?? I have starting keeping a diray on fitday... I am suppose to get my metaboliszm ck in all this testing - cuz yesterday i only ate 1200 calories- how can i eat that much and weight 245??? Ya i know cuz other days i eat 4000 . Well just wanted to ck in and see how the gang was doing - but everyone must be posting elsewhere for the last few days. Has anyone else done a sleep test - I think it will feel strange to have someone montering you as you sleep and i bet they can see you too. Does anyone know if i get this weight off will the sleep apnea go away?? -
My doctor said he wanted me smoke free six weeks before surgery - told him i smoked about 10 a day he said "I usually don't operate on people who smoke" - but he wasn't REAL demanding about it. I am like Laurie - I enjoy smoking,... I don't know what it will be like to quit food and cigs. I agree with the whole health issue and it would be good for me and i would save $75 a month and thaat savings along with the grocgery bill - hell i will be rolling in the dough :0).... Good Luck -

Eyespy - I am still vain enought to want to look good too - this isn't all about health - Heck the 50's are the new 30's and we aren't our mother's 50's - I bet Denise will agree - our moms were old at 40 and we aren't Denise - I wasn't refering to you - I read recently a younger girl i think in her 20's who had not lost anything... and she was banded a couple of yrs ago... -

Eyespy - You are not being negative. You are voicing the same concerns that i did - I still can't seem to wrap my head around that whole theory "if you can do it post banding why don't you do pre-band" It's the whole idea that you are taking the easy way out to control your food intake - This is how we have been programed to think that it's all about control. People (thin) don't seem to understand that Food is our Drug and we have not control.. Just like a drug addict can't just do a little drugs - we can't do little food. Everyone says this isn't the magical answer to our being overweight - We will still have to work at it. Heck this is just like diet pills - as long as you take them you don't eat - but the minute you quit you are eating again - plus us yo-you dieters have screwed up our motaboizm (sp). - I think the tool that everyone is talking about is that you will not have so much hunger, you will be forced to eat smaller portions all the time not just for a few months, you have to eat slower - but again there are people her who have been banded for a couple of yrs and have only lost 16 lbs - and there are those who have been banded 3.5 months and have lost 45 lbs. I truely think that the people who loose the weight are eating low calorie and exercising - really truely following a program - whereas the people who aren't losing truely aren't eating correctly - even in the 50+ thread - the ones folloiwng the program are loosing weight - maybe not as fast as someone your age - but they are loosing.. The reports I have read is that 2 yrs out lapbanders have lost as much weight as bypass and the odds of keeping it off are about the same. I have a gf who's in her 20s - had the bypass 2 yrs ago - just had a baby and is down to 190 (started 300) and she has a friend who had the same surgery lost 85lbs and has gained it all back. I still worry if i am making the right decision (i think it's all about not being able to eat like we have been - it's losing a friend (food). We are giving up Food in the quanities that we are use to. I think most banders have had these doubts - look for the thread - would you do it agian and the who has lost 100 lbs. I have gotten the calls to do all the pre-op testing that my doc wants (heart - lungs - sleep etc) and I am still scared am i doing the right thing.. Yes I need the tool to help me - how does the Sernitiy prayer go. "I admit to being helpless as to control" Good luck on your journery - just read all the post here. This is why i came to the singles theard as i think we need others to validate our feelings - It took a friend to say to me if you want to do this (i have been talking about it for 2 yrs) then go ahead and do it. We don't have partners to encourge us like those who are in relationships - so I feel that that's why a thread like this is good. Janet -

IndioGirl55 replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Gang - Am sort of new to the site - have been mostly looking at the threads on banding and this is my 1st time here. Have read the last few post (would take to long to start @ 1 to 43 I am 52 divorce and hope to be banded shortly. I haven't dated in 5 yrs since my hubby and i broke up.. I am unlike most of you here - I'm not really interested in getting involved again. I think that because of all the drama involved in the whole relationship area. I didn't marry until I was 40 (don't get me wrong I am no old maid - Had bf's and lived with a few - but none were the kind of guys you wanted to marry -- well one was but he had a drug problem and after 8 yrs said bye bye) I am like eyespy - i enjoy my alone time - every now and then it can get boring being single - see i said boring not lonely cuz i am not. The only thing i really miss about a relationship is going places - my hubby & I would go to the river, magic mtn, 4 wheeling, quads, cruises, etc. He cooked, cleaned - great lover - no drugs - social drinker - Problem was he was a CONTROL FREAK and was jealous of my son & grandson. Havent had sex in 5 yrs either and can't say i miss it too much - I think i used it all up in my 20's - 30 - 40's ).... All my friends are married - except for 1 - she and i do go to concert etc - but thats about it - We might go to the local bar once or twice a yr but I'm not looking to be a barfly looking for love in all the wrong places. ( when i was in my 30's I had single friends who were in their 50's hanging at the bars - i told them then that i didn't want to be sitting at the same table when I was their age -might have been a tad blunt - but it was the truth) If the guy fell in my lap - I wouldn't turn him away - but i don't know how that's going to happen - if i don't go anywhere to meet him :0) I enjoy my life - I can do as I please - go where I want - talk to whom ever I choose. - see what being your own boss can do :0) Eyespy - your profile is Great.... Heck if i ever do want to date I would use that as a template - change just a few things but you sound alot like me - Except I LOVE to shop. Well good luck to all who are out there looking My advice - Always stay true to yourself and don't settle for less just to have a man around. You gotta be happy with you before you can be happy with someone else...
