    My doc said no as it depletes your Calcium - I am not a big soda drinker anyway - but if I want to have one at some time - will pour into a class and let some of the fizz go away and have some. No straw drinking !!! I rather have an Ice Tea...

    Thanks LadyHR..... All of your positive thoughts and prayer are a great comfort to me... I am single so don't have the DH to lean on - haven't told my family - except for my sister as i don't want to worry my 16 yr grandson With today's announcement of Robin Roberts having cancer it just shows you that no one is safe. I was very interested in the fact that ultra sounds are better than mamograms?? and that 80% who are diagonist don't have it in their family... I guess I have a lot to learn.

    How is weight loss for people over 50?

    Hi gang I think i over did it on the exercise last nite... I went to the gym at 5:30 a.m yesterday and walked for 30 minitues - just a tad short of 2 miles. Then went again last nite and did 40 minitues - fast and longer that in the a.m. and got in just a tad over 2 miles. Well when I got home i was just pooped. Got in the pool to cool off and took a shower - my feet were killing me my whole body felt like i was beat up.. Went to bed around 9 - and took some of my liquid vicoden - boy never should have done that. Woke up every hr on the hr.. Now I am tired.. To say the least i didn't go to gym this morning - will go tomorrow but need to make sure i don't get to GUN HO and over do it.. Also, need to make sure i get all my water in... Other than that drama - am doing ok... I read on one of the other threads - that it's not good to do a 700 - 800 calorie diet - cuz when you go back to eating normal (1200-1700) you will gain weight. What's your thoughts??

    Banded July 9.

    Nancyide - Don't be so hard on yourself - 22 lbs is great - the first few always come off fast - then it slows - are you exercising.. I was banded the 17th of July - In the mornings can only eat about 1/2 cup oatmeal but for lunch had 1/2 cup refired Beans and am still a little hungry. If you are eating less than before that in it's self is a good thing. I still get hungry - but choose diff things to eat that are in low calories or i drink a protien drink - Grape Raisin my FAV only 70 calories and 15 grms Protein. I am still on mushie stage and won't go to soft until Sunday. I eat veggies for dinner with fish and some starch (mashed potatos). I eat about 1 cup for dinner with 1 fudgescile and 1 sf pudding (i am a night time eater) Don't give up - I have 6 weeks until i see the doctor again (to see if i need a fill or not as he says that for some people just the band in its self is enough restirction) Good Luck and Keep Your Chin Up YOU CAN DO IT

    Phyl I have lost 19lbs since 7/6 250 on 7/6 down to 231 this morning and I started going back to the gym this morning 5 a.m. and walked for 30 miniutes - hope to go back tonite after work and walk for another 30 - I know that for me exercise is the key to losing this weight (along with food intake). Weight loss has slowed over the weekend - it seems that i was losing about a pound a day that first week - but this is why i don't want to be a slave to the scales. It's depressing if you get on them daily and see the flexuation of going up and down on the same pound or pounds.. So I am not going to get back on til thrus morning - thrus are going to be my weigh in day - i only bought a scale after i got my surgery date. I didn't own one before... there is one here at work that i might get on once every 6 months . I didn't like the numbers that came up when i got on:eek: You have done FANTASTIC :clap2:... _I don't remember my ticker password (went last night to change it - and didn't feel like messing with it then - so maybe will try during lunch) This morning I had oatmeal and could not finish it all - now the funny thing is i use to eat 2 packet as one wasn't enought and now i can't finish one - (LOVE IT) ... But i am hungry right not and have 15 min til lunch ( refired bean 1/2 cup with a tad of cheese) Thanks for the love & prayers - the odd's are in my favor and like leedorr above said - once she lost weight those spots go away :clap2:

    swelling and agony-help????????

    Kelly have you tried the gas x strips - they help alot - you are just bloated form the surgery - Also walking helps.. Get some gas x strips and walk - and some use a heating pad. I had horrible gas pains in my shoulder the day after surgery and get a little pain in my shoulder when i eat. Are you able to have cream Soups on your diet - try soupy mash potatoes... this helped me i had 10 days of full liquids and on thrusday moved to mushies.

    Poll: Are you glad you were banded?

    I am banded 7/17 and have found that it has really helped with my food intake.. I still crave sweets, fats etc.... And NEITHER the bypass or lap band is going to take away your CRAVINGS. It is a tool to help you control your portions - with bypass you dump when you eat sweets - your body does not absourb the calories. BUT, eventually you will gain your weight back with either if you don't change your habits. Niether of these wls are a quick fix to our problems, we still have to work on our behaivors and old habits. There is no miracial out there to fix your eating habit - the only person who can do that is you. Diet and exercise... With the band I feel i have better control over my appetie as i eat considerably less and i am exercising too. I want a heathier life. be it lap band or bypass - Lap band was my choice and i would do it again..

    BJeans- THANKS for your prayers !!!! Lessofme - I think us with more weight to loss will lose it faster in the begining but will hit that platuee (sp) too. It's all about calories in and calories out. A lady I works with keeps bugging me about how much have you lost today - I tell here I am only getting on the scale once a week - that i am not going to be discourged by the ups and downs of getting on the scale daily - I am eating better and exercising and the weight will com off. Dynamomini - Thanks for the good thought Denise - Thanks too. Leedorr- That's really great to hear - lose weight and that will help with the califications (sp) Well gotta get back to work....     Starvation mode: Myth or Reality?

    I remember when I did Jenny Craig - it seemed like one day you ate alot and then the next day you didn't - I did exercise then - but I think you need to fuel your body - yea we all have ton of stored fat but we can't just stop eating we would die - not matter how fat we are.. Watch the calories in - fat/sugar - & exercise - that's the bottom line in my book..

Got pepper flakes in my right breast... All i keep thinking about is here i go and get banded to be healther and now this... I am not too worried as my sister had this too and was ok.     Maria - Welcome - this is a great site full of info - I too had the shoulder/gas pain - kept in the hospital and extra night - it does go away. Sunny - I still have that head hunger too. Last night i had it bad.. A life time of bad behaivor isn't going away over night.. Cazulay - Cut your meds up and put them in sf chocolate pudding - I have one that taste NASTY and that's what i did.. Jeanie - That was beatiful "Wooden Bowl" it made me cry (good cry) Brandy - My port was raised too - but it seems to be settleing in - it still hurt sometime when i were pants.

    Bostonchic I know you wrote this last night - but just want to give you a :eek: hug. I too am single but i do have my 16 yr old grandson living with me - but you know they don't give you alot of attention - He's there if i ask for something. I too missed a concert - I bought tickets a while back for a group i really wanted to see - well got my date sooner than I expected and the concret was 7/21 and I was banded 7/17 - I felt good enought to go, but thought i really would be pushing it so i didn't... There will be other concerts and just think how thin and cute you will be looking next yr when the event is back.. (assume it's an annual event) Like Jeanie said - there are some pros to being single - you don't have to cook for others = which can REALLY be hard.. Call your friends or get on line when you are down. We are here for you

    Reconciler You and i banded on the same day Congrats on your 14 lbs I went to doc on thrusday and he said i could go to the gym do treadmil and arms - but nothing that requires stomach mucsles.. So Monday I am going back to the gym and walk on the treadmill. Also My doc moved me to mushie s:clap2: I am feeling great - the only time my port hurt is when i have pants on - so have been wearing dresses - Went back to work last monday. as of this morning i am down 19 lbs...

    Hi Sunny - it took me 3 hr to catch up on the lucky 7 site... I did get a couple of post in.. Glad you are doing well... I think i remember reading that you were having headaches - hope they are better - didn't your doc give u some good meds .. Take them... You will do great - I think you are as motivated as i am...

    Phyl You are doing GREAT 27 lbs !!!!!! I did sneeze alot when i got home and had a runny nose for a few days... Dr Moved me to mushies on thrusay so i guess 10 days is 2 weeks for hime - i will go with it - so 10 days mushies then off to soft,. OMG this thread is so much easier to keep up with that our Lucky 7 thread... : you are gone for a day or 2 and you have 20 pages to catch up with by the time i read them all i am pooped and ready to get off the computer:phanvan

    CeCe Your diet is just like mine but i could have a fudgecicle.. but my 2 weeks have really only been 10 days - surgry 7/10 and had clear liquids 2 days in the hospital then regular including creamed soups, then 7/27 got to move on to mushies for 10 days and then soft then regular. Truely i am fine on just mushies and soft - it includes alli want to eat.

    CHIMBOREE- Welcome back girl arent you just a little rabbit - go go go.. that's great.. Glad everything went well SUNNY, glad you're back and doing well - I was ok with the full liquids for the frst few days but then wanted the mushies BAD Only had 10 days liquid post op and one of those days towards the end I did have mushie (my potato soup ended up being mashed potatoes) . I got them on thrudsday.. FRUSTRATED - I understand the truck quote - mine was an elephant CAZULAY - I am glad you are doing well and hubby is acting better. JANIEE ..I am a baby and hate rules LOL!!:cry I Hear you on the RULES...... thank god i got cream soups when i got home... Each doc is SO Diff.. ALESHA - It does get better - my 1st 2 days werent great but it does get Ok guys i have been on here since 9:30 this morning and still haven't gotten current and it's 1 p.m.. I got go and to some things. Hope there aren't 20 more pages to catch up with... We are a VERY busy bunch - the July 2006 band thread only has 120 pages and it's a year old....

    Linda I got to mushy on thrusday and have done great = I eat slowly (maybe not as slow as i should- but slow compared to how is use to eat) It's 12:30 and I had 1/2 cup eatbeaters w/cheese around 9 this morning and I am still full.. For those of you who like grape koolaide - my dr office has this grape raisin protein drink 15 grms for 70 calories that taste GREAT.. I gooled it but can't find a website (Lite Life) that really matches where you can order - and just went to get the packaging and just says distrubed by bobby basker-rao.. They also have lemonaide & orange - all of whick i like..

    Caolin I to have a Cpap and hate it - I had mine since 6/23 and still am not use to it... I do feel better in the morning when i use it (I don't stop breathing during the night but breath gets real shallow). I have found it on the side of my pillow some mornings. Just keep working on the adjustment of the bands - do yo have full face or just nose... At the sleep place they said insurance would paid for a new mask every 3months - i am going to try the nose plugs next time. Prior to the cpap i would sleep my weekends away - now i still might nap - but it's just a nap not the whole weekend... So for me it is working - just hate the mask and it scares my doggies Head hunger - yes it is still there :heh:- I would use food to use up time (boredom) and i do find myself looking for food. BUT i REFUSE to let the head hunger win. What i love about the band is that you REALLY do eat smaller portions - Dr moved me to Mushie/prueed foods on Thursday and this morning I had 1/2 cup egg beater (southwestern it was GREAT my 1st time with egg beater - tasted jus like eggs 60 caloires for 1/2 cup) and a little cheese - good size omelte and i am STUFFed - had it 2 hours ago and am still full- You just have to listen to your tummy and not your head.. I read a few pages ago that someone (sorry) was eating everything including bread - I haven't tried it and not really hungry for it - I don't want to test my band to that degree - I am full on a cup of food my doc say that just the band itself will cause some enough restrictions and they don't need fills.. My eyes are still bigger than my tummy and will also have to work on that.. I really could have had just 1/4 cup of the eatbeaters and most likely would have been just fine. All i know about my band is that i have the new one and it's the regular size. I am really motivated right now and i think thats the biggest help of all as i want this to work - - will go back to the gym on Monday and start walking... One day at a time...
