Caolin I am glad you are feeling pretty good :tea:.. I was back at work on day 6 and the only thing that was bad that day was that i wore pants that hurt my port - went home a little early - but since them i have been fine (wearing dresses) - started going to the gym (just walking on the treadmill) on day 12 and have had no problems since. Each day it gets better. :biggrin1:

I have the unjury and mix it into Soups - mash potatoes so far - but you can't heat above 130 degrees. - you can put in anything i guess. I really don't care for the taste and I think there is a small taste to it. I will use it when i get my fills and have to do liquids for a day or 2 I am now on soft food and between that and my clear Protein Drinks that i get from my doctors - i am getting my 60 grms of protein in a day.

:help:Ok people i have been wanting to ask this question... It's gross i know but since we have all been banded together i want to know if anyone else has this problem and maybe they have been to embarressed to ask. So her goes I have had bathroom issues since i was banded 7/17.. At first it didn't bug me cuz as Sunny said Liqiud in liquid out.. but then came mushy and still was have a problem - baby poop and OMG my tush has been killing me (hemoroids)- i almost have dumping - nothing immediately but soon after i eat i am on the pot. Sunday finally bought some imodium ad - and was doing better but still go often - tush does seem to be healing up - but has anyone else had a problem in this department... I was told by a friend who has a friend that was banded that she too has this problem - this person is a nurse (the banded one) and said that alot of bad people will either have the trots or plug up issues.. Apetite Supressants for those tough pre-op and post-op diets?
IndioGirl55 replied to JudiM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Debra You have to come back to the thread to respond - the email is just a notification that someone responded to a thread that you posted to. I copy the link that is shown in the email (i am on aol and it doesn't allow me just to click in it to take you back to the site - but at work it does) Then you answer - by either quoting 0r multi quoting.... Hoped that helped - I'm not always good at explaining - never could be a teacher :paranoid -
Help, help, help - preop diet failure
IndioGirl55 replied to Liz1531's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LIZ1531 What does your pre-op diet consist of??? Can you call your doctor and get it modified so that you can stick to it. Mine was oatmeal a.m. lunch Protein shake - dinner protein Soup.. I couldn't stick to is (my dr provides all preop food and they were out of a lot so what I had i didn't like) So I called them and asked if i could have fish and a small salad for dinner - they said yes just stay away from the carbs - so i was able to deal with it - but again i only had 7 days - then the last 2 days prior to surgery i had to do Clear liquids only - failed on one day but was nervous the day before so it didn't bother me (nerves are the only time i don't eat) Call your doctor and see what you can do - Good Luck:D -
Apetite Supressants for those tough pre-op and post-op diets?
IndioGirl55 replied to JudiM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok here is my 2 cents - 1st I can't take diet pills cuz of my high blood pressure - I guess those of you who are taking them don't. I too cheated on my pre-op (but did call after 1 day to get approval) by eating healthy and i still loss weight - My biggest question is why would you want to take DRUGS.. Don't get me wrong - i could very easliy be a speed freak - loved it back in the day... But yes it keeps you from eating but the second you stop taking it you start again - gain back what you lost plus some... IMHO you need to learn the difference between REAL hunger and HEAD Hunger do your pre-op diet and if you have to cheat - cheat healthy but tell the doctor - with the band you have to learn behavior modification - tiny bites - chew - no drinking before, during or after meals, make the correct choices when it comes to food and do your exercise. 75% is up to you the other 25% is the band.. The band is a tool to help you learn these modification to become healthy - I don't consider taking speed as doing something healthy for your body - and it doesn't work in the long run anyway.. And ya you should tell your doctor before surgery if you are taking them.. -

IndioGirl55 replied to alysedg23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Alysedg23 - I have been on this board and others for 1 yr researching the band - the 1st question that you ask after reading all the post is was what's pbing and sliming.. Also, I read the complications thread too because they do happen not to everyone but to some. This forum does cover all the bases (imho) I guess that you just didn't read enough - As to the problem that some have withhe bread, meat etc - and those who don't I knew from the get go that things do happen - Just like I know that each of us have diff expericencese with the band. I am 3 weeks out and still have restriction - some of my fellow Lucky #7's don't. Everyones experience with this band is different, some follow the rules, some don't. We are here for support, to ask questions - to get answers. May you find your way throught this terrible experience that YOU are having - ask for advice - the people here will gladly give it. May your journey get better. -
Queensue I guess I am lucky My Doctor did the surgery and does his own fills...

Bjean - Ok I understand (some times i am blond:rolleyes:) - since you can't eat regular food (to restricted) you compensate by eating sweets (not restricted enought). Yes i am still a band baby.. 3 weeks out today... -
Thanks for sharing - i go 9/5 for my 1st fill and right now i do have some restriction - but have had no problems with eating... no slime - pbing etc. I don't want any of this - so thanks again for the warning...

I keep forgeting to get the calicium chews - they are great - infact i keep forgeting to take my vitimans... uph i don't want to lose any hair it's thin already.... -

Bjean - had those fat fluffy round dumpings in beef stew as a kid.. OMG sounds good haven't had them in years - my family (son & grandkids) is/are/was picky eaters so i don't make things like beef stew. This being overly restricted scares me - I could use maybe just a tad of a fill - cuz i think i am eating too much but turely i am eating 1/4 of what i ate before.. -

Bjean - your dh is so right - i went on a cruise with my sis in feb and her room was all the way on the other side of the ship - i think i went there 2 twice - once walked all the way from my room and the second time we were at tha casino which was close to her room - we normally met in the middle (she's not fat but has lung problems).. This is one reason i did this - is because i don't want to be limited in the rest of my life. I too avoided anything that had to do with phyical activity. If it requires alot of walking -- i wouldn't do it.. even right now i could be at the gym working out - but no here i sit at the computer - I did go this morning and walked 1.75 miles. - but i don't have a dh (put on 20lbs after we broke up - and I thinks that's cuz we were always on the go and on the go i don't think about food) and now have nothing to do execpt watch tv - read and be on the computer - ya i could be changing my sheets, cleaning my bathroom etc - but that requires work... These are things that i have to work on myself... My hardest thing will/is the exercising.. I just don't like it... cuz its hard... The eating isn't too bad for me (so far)... I don't think i am in banders hell. I do get full fast - but sometime can eat more than a cup of food at one sitting - 3/4 mash tatoes - 1 cup squah... I am just now of soft food having ck cook in cream of ck soup (healthy request) and 1/2 rice.. but I know by 9 i will be looking for food. I guess we really are all in the same boat - it's all about our food & non-moment... That's why we got fat in the 1st place... We just have to surrender that we can not eat like we use to (there is not amount of talking ourselves out of this - skin people do not eat like us (for the most part) and that we must park at the far end of the parking lot and walk... -

OK nicnaknut - you are from the south Flat dumplings -white gravy-cornbread.... All that good food... it's just to bad that we don't have to farm anymore to use up all those calorie from eating all that good food - not really i would rather have my desk job than a phyical one - but again another reason i am fat :paranoid -

Carol1951 - Well the "experts" say we have unresolved issues - that we are covering up our feeling with food. I can't say i am covering up feelings - i think i use food to cover up boredom.( well i guess that is a feeling).. Also, as a child we had dinner and then a couple of hours later we had "dessert" be it cake, ice cream etc.. That is how we were trained. I was reading an artical in Prevention magazine which covered how thin people look at food and how we look at it - we obsess about food where thin people don't - I'm not one who thinks all day about what my next meal would be but once i started eating (usually when I got home from work) i would just keep on until bed time - I also found that i use food to self medicate to help me fall asleep - I can't sleep if i am hungry... Now I am trying to figure out am i really hungry or do i just want to fill up time... If i am hungry then i have a pudding, fudgecicle or lately watermelon. But i just don't have the junk in the house cuz if it's here I will eat it... And it is so hard to stop at 1 or 2 when it taste so good.... I think the answer is that we have to re-train ourselves. We need food to live - we should not live just to eat... Don't know if this helps just throwing it out there .. -

Nicnaknut - You can still eat your fav foods - just less of them as long as they are band friendly and this seems to be different for everyone - some can eat bread (i haven't tried) some can't - OMG Dumpings are you talking about the flat ones that you cook in ck broth - my Mom use to make/eat those (and in one summer gained 20 lbs) - and me too. Havent had them in YEARS... - But do you really want to be eating your fave foods often - aren't they what got you where you are today (I'm not trying to be mean). The other day i wasn't feeling good and was tired (a big food trigger for me) and i was still on mushy food - so i thought i would make some white gravy to go over my mash potatoes - i got the bacon out started frying it and then said "Janet - did you really go throught all these tests (had tons of pre-op test) the pain of surgeryn & $$$ just to screw it up cuz you a big baby and want your comfort food" I said NO and threw it away - I just had my 3/4 cup mash potatoes with no gravy !!!!! My personal opinion is that you still have to do 75% (eating the correct foods - excercising) of the work to loose the weight and the band will do the other 25% (control your portions) I don't find that the band has taken away my hunger - I get full alot faster but I have to pay attention. We are so use to eating large portions that I feel (imho) that in our head we don't feel full cuz we didn't eat 2 bowls of whatever - we only ate one.. I still have the battle of head hunger at night and to eat slower - but this is a journey which i have begun and for which i will continue and each day is a new challenge - but a worthy one. -

2BTHINAGN - I ate everything in site until i had to go on my pre-op and even my pre-op i had to modify cuz doing liquids for a week wasn't cutting it - I too had clear liquids for 2 days prior to surgery - being the bad person that i am i really only did one day which included a colon cleanse :omg: You will be find - Prayer to you for a safe and speedy recovery - I hope that you will be as glad as i am about my band CKBW - IMHO you are doing something posititive to be healthy how can that be wrong. This is a tool that some of us NEED.. Prayers & Good thought to you.. AMEN TO THAT !!! BJEAN - this is the 100% truth - I think that some bander thought that this was that magic bullet when it's not - it is a tool and you have to work at this too - I think (imho) that - that's what people don't realize and they end up being uphappy about being banded - saying it didn't work - -

My appt was at 1 pm - it went fine - I did cried a little as they were doing the core extractions - it became real as i was lying on that table with my boob hanging thru this whole in a vise like thingie and they were in there chopping up the calcifications. My sister had this too and infact it was her right breast too - they leave a little metal marker in there so in your mamograms they know this area has been tested.. My sister was fine and the tech said that increases my chances of being fine. So instead of me and my sis having matching tattoo's we have matching markers in our boob I should know tuesday afternoon how it went - I will let you all know as soon as i know. Thanks again for all the support - I am doing good and thinking positive thought... xoxox Janet
