Not Banded Yet -- Can't Lose Weight For Surgery
IndioGirl55 replied to bonniep's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Faith said it best - You need to start now with changing your eating habits - it you don't change them you aren't going to lose weight even if you are banded - band does 25% of the work and you (your brain) will have to do 75% of the work... It's all up to you and how you approach being banded and what your expectations are... If you think that being banded is going to end all your food issues you are wrong. I can be full but still want to eat - (head hunger) and yes i could continue to eat if i wanted to pb or slime or not to loose weight. I choose to stop eating when i am full - I choose to eat low fat - low carb (i still have 1/2 of brown rice or whole wheat pasta) - veggies - fish chicken and red meat once a week. I haven't had a cookie or candy bar or brownie since 7/8 I eat sf puddings, yogurts, fudgecicles when i want sweets - I eat 1000 - 1200 calories a day and exercise 4-5 times a week - I AM WORKING at this - this band is not the magic pill - You will have a lot of time on your hands when you are no longer using them to stuff your face (this is my personal opinion about me - not meant to offend) - I get on the computer (like right now) and find things to distract me and take my mind away from wanting to eat - I save my Snacks for the evening as this is my very most difficult time. Again - I don't me to offend - the ball is in your court and only you can make the correct choice.. My Best to you on this journey.. -
What is normal weight loss????
IndioGirl55 replied to lbunnehe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
IMHO - get on the scale only once a week - i was banded 7/17 and have lost 25 as of last Thursday - 1 - 2 lbs a week is what I was told. The weight isn't going to vanish immediately cuz you are eating way less and exercising - i hear you - i feel the same way that you do that the pounds should be dropping like flies - since i have reduced my calories - (i'm eating 1000 to 1200 a day) and excercising like crazy - (5 days a week) But this is NOT reality... This is our imagnation... Maybe you need to increase your calories a tad - 800 one day 1000 the next - Lucky you to have a fill already - i won't get mine til 9/5. Good Luck you are doing great -

Welcome Bonnie I didn't have to lose weight per se - i had 7 day pre-op diet to shrink my liver - plus 2 colon cleanses (1 colonoscpy & 1 for surgery) so i don't take my pre-surgery weight too seriously as i was pooping for 2 days of that 7. Each Dr has his/her own set of rules. But what i have read and what my doc said it was to shrink your liver to make it easier for them to do the surgery. Good Luck on your journey - this is a great group. Hi over 50 gang - I am off to bed - it's 10:30 Cali time and i am beat - walked 2.45 miles 45 minutes on an interval training mode. kicked my butt. i haven't read everything posted tonite - so - will catch up tomorrow -talk to ya'll then... sweet dreams everyone... xoxox Janet -

Green - Well when I was a little girl going to catholic school and when i would be goofing off in church or my mom wouldn't let me eat - I would daydream that in heaven iyou could eat all you want when you want - so that's where my Daddy will be having his cake - daily i hope. I am an orphan - My Mom died when i was 15 - my Dad & #2 Mom died 15 yrs ago with in 1 month of each other. My Dad would have been 87 this yr. His drink of choice Gin.. But When i say my prayers you will be in them :biggrin1: -
Jack you are to friggin funny.:biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1: Warmmorningsun You know the answers - you stated them in your cry for help. Pick your butt up off the floor - dust it off - put on your boots and start over from scratch... I understand how hard it is to get re-motivated after you have fallen off that wagon.. But ya gotta do it... Like the saying goes - Just do it damn it !!!!:biggrin1:

Hi Don Welcome to Lapband Talk - this is a great group of banders here. I was banded 7/17 - Groceries - well - so far it's hard to tell since i still have my grandson to shop for and I am so use to buying large quanities of food. In fact last time i went shopping bought 3 packages of fish. Well by the time i got home weighed & packaged them i had about 2 weeks of dinners (i shop about once a week) and on veggies the same problem - i buy too much - This is going to be a process for me as my eyes have always been bigger than my tummy.. but i would say that your food bill should decrease as you are eating less - it's hard cuz i still am over shopping right now - just like my band I will have to learn that once package of fish can be 3 meals instead of 1 like in the past. Good luck on your journey....

CRABCAKE - you have me CRACKING UP on the AMA - you sound like me Dr. Janet GREEN - Congrats on the face lift - 9/24 is my Dad's Bday... It's a good day in my book (if you can't tell I was a Daddy's Girl) Good luck on the smoking - I hear you on that one Hi to the newbies - Welcome Hi to all the regulars - I was just cking in - gotta get back to work - i am off the rest of the week and gotta get my desk cleaned up - talk to you all later.. xoxoxo Janet -
It's cuz i am working instead of cruising here - but i think for a lot of the Lucky #7 - once they went back to work and to their real lives with families - kids going back to school and work that the just don't have the time like they did before. But it seems like everyone pops in now and then. Well, I can tell you i need a fill - i went out to eat today for lunch "El Pollo Loc" (ff mex resturant - flamed grilled chick is their speaility) had leg thigh 2 corn torts side of beans and steamed veggie - and i ate 97.5% of it. i am full but not as stuffed as i thought i would be - but i was REALLY hungry when we went.. but i was totally shocked at the calories - when i got back to work and google it and per their website said i ate 630 calories but there was no way that i had six oz of beans maybe 1/2 a cup and the thigh was no where close to 3 oz of meat maybe1 1/2 but not 3 I am not eating out anymore... to many calories and no my gf wants me to go play bingo and that means no gym - I need to get the exercise in if i am going to loose.... omg i am obessing.. here i go from being a slug bug fat pig who didn't care what or how much she - to obessing about the calories in my lunch and how much exercising i can get it.... That sounds like an anexoria talking not me:eek::eek:

Liquid Preop Diet Journal
IndioGirl55 replied to mylapspirit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Michelle - I had the same diet (did get some Protein bars for Snacks but everything was sweet) I called my doc and asked if i could have the salad and fish/chick for dinner and they said yes - I only had to do 7 days and 2 of those were pure Clear Liquids which i still had to do.. heck it's worth a try all they can do is tell you no... -

Thank you all.... I am still a little girl inside...once at one of my Insurance Women Confrences we had a guest speaker - who said inside all of us is a 2 yr old and since i don't have a DH I don't have alot of people to share with well i do have friends - but they don't understand what an acomplishment this is - whereas you guys do. Green - No I don't like ANY kind of exercise - it's just something I know i have to do if i want to eat like a normal person. The nights are my very hardest - so i save all my Snacks for the evening and i am countng calories and keeping a food / exercise diary - if I didn't do this i would never lose any weight.I can't do any weights yet - hope to get ok'd when i go back on the 5th. I will be 6 1/2 wks out by then.. Once you get out of the habit of going to the gym or doing any kind of exercise (plus your other injuries :sick) it's so very hard to get back in the habit... I know - I have done all this before (diet/exercise) but once something breaks that motivation - omg it is so hard to get back. In fact this is the 1st time I have been motivated to do anything in about 8 yrs.. So that tell you how long it has taken me to get re-motivated - but the band is new and all the other diet are old - been there done that.. OMG bmi 23 You are one skinny "b" and i mean that in a loving way - I am striving to get mine to somethin like 29 which should put me at 170 lbs - I think i would look really bad at 115 lbs and i thinks that's what would give me a bmi of 23- i have been fat too long for my skin to shrink and right now i still remember lapband surgery - so i won't be having any elective surgerys for a while - but who knows - once i get to 170 (i will look like i weight about 140/130) i might want to go all the way Never say Never Thanks again for letting me share my good news... -
CONGRATS to you Chim :whoo::clap2::clap2::whoo:

:welcome: Nancy aka Mistymoon... This is a great group and you will learn alot on this thread for us over 50 and on this site period. Yes - you gotta change that too Old way of thinking. You are never too old to get heathly... And as to your age - it's just a number - we all are still young in our minds eye and none of us keep track of the age - we are just here to share our expericences (and we all have diff one than the younger ones) I hear Dr Ortiz is very good and come highly recommended by many - I have seen his name here on this board and I don't remember one bad thing being said about him Again Welcom.. -
CHIM - doing GREAT today!!!! 13 miles walked & 2lbs gone since last Thrusday !!!!! I have some restriction but could use a tad more - I am doing alot of this on my own - sometimes i am really hungry - but a BIG problem i am having at night is the HEAD HUNGER - I will be full from dinner but i still want to eat.... I think i use to spend alot of my time eating at night. Why do we want to eat/taste food when we are full?? I hate this... Some one really needs to develope a band for our heads !!!!! I really have to work at not eating after full - I know that once i have a fill that i will bp or slime - but i think i read that one of us did this without a fill. I am REALLY happy today 2 lbs and 13 miles for a person who was a total couch potatoe/slug bug... Car - my Dr said as long as you are losing weight - why do a fill.. ONLY - I am able to eat salads too but again - don't have a fill yet - I can eat everything - I have had english muffin but that's it in the bread dept. I have brown rice 1/2 for dinner w/my fish - no probs. I am lucky no more aunt flo's or cousins visit any more... Sunny - How are you doing gf??? Just thinking about your loss makes me cry - I'm sending more hugs your way:girl_hug:.. I sincerely hope that you are doing better each day... Shout Outs to Kathybad - Jeanie, Marcy - Dini - AuntiePhyl - Brandy- CC-Mango -Frustrated -cazulay - Laurend - silntwhispers and all the lucky 7 gang

I'm right there w/you Phyllser - Lynette - this is totally ridiculous - this is like something you see on tv were you gotta put your kids name on a list for the "pre-school" the day they are born - My grandaughter is 3 yrs old and thank heavens they didn't test her when she 1st when to pre-school last yr. She cried and cried and cried - for the first 2 yrs of her life she was only around mom, dad, sister (who is #2 mom) and other grandma - she wasn't use to being around people - very anti social - but now she is getting better - her speech is not as good as other 3 yrs old - but each child developes differently - her big sis has the same problem and has grown up to be VERY social and A to B grades.. Tell these people to JUMP IN A LAKE you don't want your kid going somewhere that is so judgemental. If you are really concerned talk to your pediatrician . But he is just fine - ask us grandma's - We know more that some little wanta be pre-school tearcher who gives stupid test.

Hi Gang I was googling how your body gets rid of fat you burn (reason to drink more water) and came across this website. Thought some of you might be interested - I liked the part of why it's better to lose a 1 or 2 a week and not 3 or 5 a week. Body fat: Where does it go when you lose weight? - MayoClinic.com -
Oh Sunny, My heart goes out to you... I understand as I have 2 babies (doggies) myself... Here are tons of hugs:girl_hug:. I know that this has to be so very hard for you - please know that you are in my prayers. I wish I could say or do something to help take that awful pain away - People say "it's only a dog" that's so untrue - they are your babies - they ARE your family... xoxoxo Janet

Maddog2005 You fell of the horse - now pick yourself up and get back on.. Eat the foods the doctor told you to eat, you need to protect your band during this healing stage - eat cream of ck Soup (healthy request) made w/skim milk (that is if your doc allows - mine did) I agree - you didn't do all this to fail - Only you can do... So Just Do It.. My best to you.. -

Michelle - Thank you !! Now, all I have to do is follow my own advice:eek:. You know it is so much easier giving advice than taking it :heh:- but I am trying my hardest ot make this work - and right now IT IS hard as i need a fill which i won't get for 2 more weeks. I am HUNGRY... Just had a salad w/tuna & avocado (1/4) and i am still hungry, well just a little which i ate too fast too. I am now waiting for 1 p.m so i can have a crystal light. Losing the fat on my body is not loosing a freind to me - I LOVE that part - but no longer eating fried taco's has been. like losing a very very good friend. NM Sunshire - I read this artical this morning - and the post that some mean sprited people wrote after it... There were some nice ones likening our food addictions to drugs etc - but some awful ones too. It will be nice to see what comes of this study - maybe we will be able to band our heads to  Phyl - Where is Rocky Point - I don't know if it's safe there  You see I work Insurance - and am afraid of making statements people can hold me too :rolleyes I have to put a qualifier on my statements just like i do on my proposals Debi - I can't walk my doggies aka babies - cuz it's too hot here - so I go to the gym - maybe this winter I will - but with them they gotta stop and sniff - I NEED Cesar Milan... Found this little smile - and that it was great ... :success1: and wanted to share.... Well, it's almost 1 - and I can DRINK:clap2:. Talk to ya'll later... -

Crabcake - What I have read is that the closer to goal the harder it is you gotta increase the exercise intervals - 2bthinagn - CONGRAT on 2ville - I know that is a great feeling Phyl - Your hubby should't be afraid of MX - heck it's no diff that DHS:heh: Truely - in San Felipe (use to go there alot in the winter w/my x) there is a place called the El Dorado- there are more RVing American's there than Mexicans - I am not kidding you !!!! There is a Costco & Super-Walmart (in fact I was amazed when we stopped there had never seen one before then) in Mexicall just like the States.. Ladydi - Happy Band BD !!!! Denise - I remember the low metabolism problem from prior post (omg i fell like an old timer here and I have only been on since May) As far as the hormones I don't have the faintist - I am lucky I don't have any problems that are usually assoicated with menopause. THANK GOD !! Beachbon - :clap2::clap2: 100 lbs - :becky: Hope everyone has a great day !!! -

You have me rolling:roll: on the floor with the Rap Star Crotch... Too funny - good way to start my morning .. Why don't you take them to the taylor and have them taken in (I plan on doing that with a few items) You gotta show off that size 10!!!! OMG i haven't been a 10 since my early 20's..... Lucky you to be able to turn off A/C - I won't be able to do that until late October - it's 84 at 7:30 a.m. and is suppose to be 112 today:cool: Good luck with the reflux & herina issues - my best to you on those fronts - well all fronts really - but you know what i mean -
I read in the paper were maybe Medicare with regular insurance companies to follow (most likely) that they are considering to no longer pay for treatment for infections and mistakes - that the doctors & hospitals will have to eat the cost for treatment. Well, maybe this will make them be more diligent in sanitising(sp) not leaving spunges in you etc?? I just though it was interesting artical -
