Yes he said 1 week liquid - 1 week mushies - 1 week soft and then 4th week back to regular - well i don't listen well - and had fish on monday (baked and soft) tues & wed ck enchillada (1/2 cup) last night squash and ck thigh - tonite will eat fish & squash - so this week was some mushie and a little soft. but lost 3 lbs - so maybe this weekend i will make some more pinto bean soup.. but i find i am hungry - ate a soft taco for lunch with refried beans that were out of this world.
  2. Productive burp = a burp with a little throw up - sort of - slime is when you can swallow your saliva and if bubbles up out of your mouth - sort of - there is a place on the main board that defines all the slang -

You just got filled today !!!! don't ask me why but i thought you got filled on monday - mine was last wed and it wasn't until Monday tht i wanted food - i was suppose to be on liquids for 1 week but on monday i had some fish for dinner. but i gotta say i did lose 3 lbs this week - but my appetite is back - not as strong but it's there.. how long do u have to be on liquids???
  4. Skinnydip - I read somewhere wher medicare did cover lapband and that was the main reason all the other insurance carriers started too to.. I guess once the government said it was experimental then the other insurance companies agreed... I read this or my doc told me - can't remember which - just like your typing slowly for us slow readers that had me cracking up

A place for bandsters in their 60's

My Vote - Yes move to mushies - and you are great for not cheating - I ate a few puffed cheetos while i was suppose to be on full liquid and my doc said 2 weeks liquid but then when I went to my 1st post op visit he said i could go to mushies - so that was about 10 days not 14 and those 4 days are a big deal when you are hungry

Indio- the reason why they bill the insurance companies the "reasonable and customary" fees is because of all of the insurances that they don't agree to their fees -they are getting paid what is billed. Astronomical huge bills!! and they are getting paid in full for some of them. Also, from time to time, the insurance companies will adjust the fee schedule that they pay to Dr.s and hospitals according to the actual costs that are billed to them. All institutions must bill out actual charges and then adjust after the claim is paid to what they accept. Anna so you are telling me that some insurance companies pay the full amount billed??? I figures that all insurance companies had deals with the hospitals /doctors .(well as long as you are in network and duh that's why it's important to stay in network i am blond some times) So what happend to the $73,000 that didn't and isn't going to be paid by anyone??
  7. What shake is that that has 42g or protein - I use unjury (unflavored) and it's 20 g for 1 scoup and has 80 calories - i put it in my coffee in the morning to help with getting my all my protein

Kim :clap2: on the walking that's great !!!!! I am just a barely 1 week with fill and i too am hungry - Monday could barely finish 3 oz of fish - last night had ck thigh & 3/4 squash - lunch today 1 taco (small) & beans... Well, i can say i am not starving now since my big lunch... But feel i shouldn't be able to eat as much... Peaches - Yes that is what the insurance claim form showed $64,000 for 7/17 to 7/19 - and I had TERRIBLE night nurses !!!! But what the kicker is - is that they are on my insurance as a center of excellent (i could only have surgery at a hospital that was a coe) and they (the ins co) only paid $3500 - so with my $350 - that $3,850 total paid for the hospital - what happens to the $60,250 left - My whole thinking is why does the hospital inflate their charges to such an astronomical amount when they already have a deal with the insurance company that the will accept $3500 and be done with it... I hate the game playing and thats all it is... If you take all my pre-surgery test (and I had tons) and surgery the total billed to insurance is $83,000 - insurance has paid $10,000 and me about $900 (excluding my program fee to dr) - that means the doctors/hospital etc all over billed $72,000 - Why don't they just bill the about that they are going to get from insurance?? Breadlady - Anytime - there will be some that dissagree - and they will be the ones who don't eat after 7 p.m. well - that will never work for me so i adpat things to make them work.. Ssankofa - I too can eat more as each day passes - I will give in another week and then I'm calling for another fill Brandy - It can't hurt to try - it's just like on my ins I am suppose to pay 30% but my portion so far hasn't been that high - I am not looking that gift horse in the mouth :phanvan - With my insurance your bmi had to be 40 - and I do have high blood pressure & supposelity sleep apena - Good luck again - it cant hurt

BreadLady I too have the hardest time at nite - in fact i save my snack from the day to eat at night as if i didn't i would be eating way too many calories. I have always been a night eater and so is the rest of my family (my sister isn't overweight) - we WAKE up to eat... Last night before dinner had some watermelon - for dinner 3/4 yellow squash - 1 ck thigh - was full - later ate some more watermelon - ice sandwich - low fat/sugar - woke up at 1 a.m. had some more watermelon. It's like i am a baby and need a full tummy to sleep - I medicate with food to help me sleep - i usually eat sweets & high carb foods at night or should i say during the night - i found that if i ate them (sweet) after 3 a.m. i would be droggie in the morning and have a hard time getting up - (food hang over - anyone ever had one of those:rolleyes:) If i could just sleep thru the night i would loose weight - but i goto bed wake up an hr latter eat something (yogurt - pudding - fudgecicle) then wake up 1 or 2 and do the same thing. This is why i save my snacks to eat at night - if i didn't i would not be loosing weight..

Brandy Is your doctor covered under your plan?? Good luck on getting it paid I got the insurance claim info sheet yesterday for the hospital - 7/17 to 7/19 $64,000 - can you beleive that - Insurance paid $3500 - i gotta pay $300 - the rest is in the twighlight zone - that make no friggin sense - The hospital knows that the insurance is only going to pay $3500 why do they bill $64,000 give me a friggen break... that is TOTALLY out there - I really beleive our health medical system needs some great overhaul..
  11. Hi Denise Sorry to hear you lost your fill - I know you have been having a hard time... I never asked what happens if we spring a leak - are our bands guareenteed for any length of time????

Oxycontin - OMG that's some strong sh*t.... Have you called your doctor??? the only time i have pain in my chest (golf ball as we describe it here) is when I ate too much.... I had demeroal (sp) in hospital for the 1st day 1/2 and never had to use the liquid vicodin once i got home... I think you should call your doctor - if you aren't feelilng better by tomorrow... Hope it gets better for you...:car:

    Newly banded

Belle's Mommy You just had surgery 2 days ago - I don't know why some people here say that it doesn't hurt - HELL YA it hurts- when i first woke up it felt like an elephant had kicked me in the stomach and still had his foot on me. I was suppose to be in the hospital just over night but when the doctor came - i was in terrible pain from gas not the surgery and was afarid to go home in that kind of pain so stayed an extra night - truly could have come home that second evening as by then the pain was gone and didn't come back never had another pain shot after 7/18 around 2 p.m. - You need to eat, so that you can heal - what are your dr's instructions - i was on Soups clear & cream (no chunks) and i added my Protein powder - you must have nutrition... I was back at work on day 6 - but your port site will hurt for a bit longer (not bad but will be tender) As each day passes it will get better...:car:

Teresa - The port pain will be with you for a bit - we all had it - as far as the consipation - I have never had the problem - I was opposite and had the runs for the first 2 weeks and even now am regular - but I make sure i have some fat in my diet - that may be your problem - I don't know what you are eating but increase your fats and this may help too.

Ok Jackie - 1st we need to find out why you are in a funk... Then we can go from there. Its it hormonal (sp) or is there something going on in your life. Sometimes when I am in a funk - i will either wallow in it or make myself get out and get around my happy friends, I have gf who is like me and will slap me in the face (not literilay but figurtively) and wake me up. I remember reading before that alot of people after surgery were getting this way. Go watch a funny movie - read a happy book - do what you did last night get on line and it seems like there is always someone here who will help - don't watch the news, just don't eat... Ya Marcy I forgot to tell you that you have a wonderful man there... I think that night after reading about 2 1/2 pages - it was late and i didn't post... OMG Chim even when I was your age I could not have worked those hours!!!! I think we should have our own excercise challenge (imho).. Dini- Our electric company will estimate our bills sometime in the summer when the meter readers are on vacation - Well think about it I live in the DESERT HOT SUMMER - and they will estimate low - and then the next month have a $400 bill just for electric.. I can't beleive your whole staff just up and quit... Glad to hear that you & Adam are getting on better. I think I missed my calling - I should have been a counsler or motivational speaker (imho) - It's just too bad that it's easier to give advice than follow it :phanvan. I am a person who tells it like it is (i think you are that way too :biggrin1:) Phyl - I would love the 4 dayer out of Long Beach - the younger once will love it as this was my 1st curise back in 93 and it was a party ship - I did party til 4 in the morn back then - now don't think i could hang that late but might give it a good effort :biggrin1:... Sunny - Will be in touch - hope the funk is lifting.
  22. NMSunshine Congrats on your Band B-day !!!! :clap2: 9/11/07 How did it go??? How are you feeling?? Hope all went well and that you will be posting soon. xoxox J

Phly - Congrats on the fill :clap2: sounds like it's working,... On the curise issue just want to make everyone aware there is no gambling on Hawaiin or Alaskan cruise - just in case it matters to anyone. I'm not a big gambler so it doesn't matter to me - and in August I would welcome cooler weather. July & Aug are the prime months to go to alaska so prices will be higher - how about changing it to April - early May and do the little 4 day out of Los Angeles that goes to Catalina & Ensanda.. Just an idea as July & Aug are not good months to cruise... Well just jumped on for a minute and now 45 have dissappeared - could only read 1 - 1/2 pages - and need to get some things done before bed. Talk you later..

Unruhlyhd - can you get up 45 minutes earlier and do your exercise of choice - this way you won't be too tired - how long is your lunch - can you walk for 10 - 15 - 30 minutes.. I understand the tired - if i don't go to the gym right after work - i just won't do it - Did you watch "Fat March?" That was my motivation today - i wanted to quit after 1 mile but I thought of the 6 who finished and figured i could do one more mile.

Sunny - Girl Friend - we know why you are in a funk - you lost your baby. You are using food as a comfort for the loss of your baby.. But!!! NOW I want you to pull yourself up by your boot straps and #1 don't buy the chocolate!!!! Go throw away all that good yummy stuff and as you throw it in the trash say these word "Better in Thee Than in ME"... if you don't buy it you can't eat it... That's my personal rule - if it's not in the house i can't eat it - I have sf choc puddings or healthy request fudge cicles - I will have 2 puddings & 1 fudge cicle in an evening (pre-fill) that was a total of 200 calories You really don't want to be able to sit down and eat like you use to - that's what got you to the place of needing/wanting the band... That's it's purpose "Portion Control" When you are sad - get on the computer and one of us here will talk to you and try to help. In fact I have unlimited long distants - if you want to pm me your home # - I will call and talk to you... You went through a lot to get your band - and I know that you really want to succeed - it's just hard right now and i understand. Again... get those Boot Straps and yank real hard - get back on the "band" wagon - We are here for you GF.. I got filled last Wed and am suppose to be on full liquids for 1 week and i'm changing that to 5 days (then pureed for a week then soft then regular) - yesterday i had 3 oz of fish and could not finish the last bite. Got up in the middle of the night and tried to eat a bit of chicken tender that my GS had left - i chewed but ate fast and got that golf ball - i think that even though we are chewing - the eating too fast doesn't allow enough time for the food to pass through the hole from your new tummy to the old one - this is Dr Janet's reasoning - Infact i just got on to post this same question tonight - even if i CHEW well i am still getting stuck. I gotta say that my fill is working - soup i could eat but the equates to water going right thru - but tonite my x-dil fixed me a little casserol of green ck enchallida - OMG they are deliouse but i could only eat about 5 bites and i am stuffed.. I stopped before i got over filled or stuck.. That golf ball in the chest hurts.. Sunny - We are here for you.....
