I'm shocked!!! The lapband isn't magic???
IndioGirl55 replied to guinessgirl77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Passive - you body need protein to live. what were your instructions - didn't you have to meet w/a nutritionist?? I lost like 1 pound a day that 1st week - then it has slowed to 1 or 2 a week - but the 1st week after my 1st fill lost 3 - but had to go on liquids for a week. Good Luck -
Jackie - I loved your fence analogy - that's too cute - I look over the fence for interesting threads - I have given tough lap band love to some who were scared to be banded or just have question like we did in the begining - it's alway nice to talk to people who already have the band - and i like hearing the stories from those who have had theirs for a while. - see that's where you can help others who are afair...- I wasn't afaird even after reading the bad post on complications - i figured i had enought compllications just from being fat and i could walk out the front door and get hit by a truck - I am not much of a worrier - once i make my mind up it's done.. Well I am trying to update my ipod - so gotta re-boot - will be back in a few.

Passive - How much Protein are you getting in daily?? That may be your problem - I think but not 100% sure that 99% of all the doctors want you to get a minimum of 60 grms of protein daily. Also weight loss will depend on how much you need to lose, age and metabolism It what you listed above is all you are eating then i am 99% sure you aren't getting your protein - I will make shakes w/unflavor unjury Protein powder 20 grams per serving - add yogurt (5 gr) - so that's 25 just for Breakfast and I will add 1/4 banana & some rasberries -
I'm at work killing 9 minutes til I go home (4p.m. california time) then gotta run by the store - home change clothes and head to the gym. What time is it for you??? like 8hrs ahead of me?? By the time i get home and back onthe computer (if I do) you will be nighty night... Hope you are doing good - how was the show?? Did you eat popcorn - with or with butter Have sweet dreams - talk at you later xoxox Janet

CeCe Imho - I think not being able to snack is sort of setting you up for failure. 99% of any kind of healthy program has healthy snacks and we are human - gotta have something we ENJOY once and a while. I am a firm believer in tweaking things to make them work for you. That's why I save my snacks for night - otherwise I would go over on my calories all the time. I can't help it - i am hungry at night... So I make it work for me. Also to the gang - I gotta say we have a GREAT group of women here. There are some post out there on general lapbandtalk that people really are getting into it - ck out the Catholic & Communne (sp) thread - We don't fight and get all pissed off if someone say they think it's ok - or if they don't - I just wanted to give you all Props for being a great group of women :clap2::clap2::clap2:

How is weight loss for people over 50?
IndioGirl55 replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Cathie this was the advice i was given prior to going to my shrink Indigogirl. A friend of mine got the lap band last year and is now maintaining her 130 pound frame. Anywhoooo, she gave me some advice before I had my psych eval. She said be careful what you bring up because it can lead to a whole string of appointments before her releases you to have the lap band. So when I went in he kept trying to drag me into old problems that really don't affect me today. I kept quiet and within 20 minutes he told me that I was cleared. Now I am sure that some people might need the help, but I was not wanting to spend a ton of money and time on something that didn't bother me. Good luck on Thursday! Just sharing - might want to try it next time :0)<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- sig --> -

thats nekked too:nervous - isn't this the only way to weight Truely invest in a couple 5 lbs ankle weight - so you don't have to gain it all back - but have a couple of somethings for me - sometimes I miss my old eating habits - not much but sometimes.. - but 32 lbs = 3 10lbs sacks of potatoes that i am not carrying around any longer feels GREAT, -
How often do you PB?
IndioGirl55 replied to lins12's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have pd'd twice since banding - 1st time after 1st fill - ate 4 puffed cheetos then tried 1 spoon of pudding - and again last night - awoke in the middle of the nite - decicded to take a couple of bites from leftover dinner (rice w/red sauce & beef) - well guess i didn't chew well enought and was eating too fast - after the 3 bite - OMG golf ball - slime -pd - more slime and then a little pb. -

My vote but the 20 back on... You shouldn't have to but if you want the band and you want your insurance to pay for it - OH I just thought of something put rocks in your pockets - they don't weigh you nake at the doctors so wear some combat boots - layers of clothes and rocks in your pocket - some ankle weight under your pant and some on your wrist covered by a long sleave shirt... Hows that for a great idea !!! -

Christie IMHO you are not getting in enought Protein !!!!! Did your doctor/nutristions tell you - that you need minimun 60 grams of protein a day. I know that you don't want to loose your hair or get manutristioned (sp) and not heal properly... You need protein,.... You need to add Protein powder to your inst bf - lunch protein - dinner protein - I was on full liquids 4 day out - but when I was on mushie I had oatmeal w/pt pdr - lunch Soup w/pt pd - dinner fish (mashed up) - yogurt for Snacks (5 grm) plus my dr sells clear Protein drinks that are great - peach mango - grape - punch etc. they have 70 c and 15 grms pt... Girl you need to get that protein in - I an not playing here you need protein!!! -

OMG Cathie - I am sorry - I to am a night eater - I am glad I didn't have to go to your shrink.. Mine was more into drugs to help with this or that - I just parrotted everything I had read hear (someone advised me not to talk too much just to answer question that were asked) here = it's a tool to help me control my portions - I am doing this to be healthy - with a tad of vanity. That i knew how to eat right but didn't control my portions. I don't think 1 bowl of ceral is bingeing now a whole half gallon of ice cream at one sitting might be. I figured if the surgeon sent you there you would pass cuz they want the $$$ and if you don't pass then no surgery no $$$$ - have you talked to your dr - get another shrink... i would be pissed too... well lunch is over gotta get to work good luck -
Hey everyone - how are ya'll doing - by reading the post eveyone is doing fine.. I was watching Biggest Loser last night and they are wearing the BodyBugg - Chim did you ever get one?? It looked interesting... But OMG $399 and only 3 months support - but I would like to see what my workouts look like on the computer and it says can tell the calories your consume?? Does anyone have one??? or know the story???

Gadgelady - I have been on there - I had a little spat with some little girl who said lapband was the easy way out... So it has a few attackers too. (imho anytime you get strong willed people together especially women this will happen) I still ck in there everynow and then - but find there is more action over here - but it was another forum where to obtain info - just like obesity help.. Those 2 sites and this one is where the majority of my pre-band work was done - and yes we do have a few member who can get riled up.. I was just on a thread the other day - where a newbie stated the band wasn't the magic answer (and she is banded) -and boy did she get attack when all she was doing was stating facts - i responded and told the attackers that i would stand with her on their firing line any day and asked that they point out where she was rude or offesnsive - but never got a response expect for the poor thing who was being attacked to say thank you.. I am usually very careful in how i word my comments (sometimes it takes me forever to write a response so that I don't offend) as I understand that some peoples feelings get hurt real easy or that if you state your opinion to start mushies 1 day before the doctor says - you will get yelled at - Well - WTF i don't always follow the rules 100% - cuz i am one of those "good" Catholic girls from Catholic School":o and I would venture to say that there are tons of people who follow the rules 100% and tons who tweek them a little too... The way I look at it - to each their own - we are all individuals who will not always agree with each other - but yes we don't have to attack each other - in the famous words of Rodney King "Why can't we all just get along" Peace Out

Penny CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING YOUR DATE 11/6 :clap2::clap2::clap2: I am so happy for you !!!-I know how JAZZED I was when they called me with my date (7/17) - i thought it wouldn't be until August... Penny - you will ususally find me in the "how is weight lose for those over 50+" thread and Lucky #7 (july 07 support) or you can always seach members list to find my name and pm. me. Go, look for Nov 07 monthly support group and join that, these people will be just like you - and you can always contact me, when you get scared or have any questions. I am in no way an expert on the band (but have a tad bit of knownledge as i have researched it for 2 yrs) - but am expert (imho) on being fat and the issues (mental & physical) that go with it - I can be pretty insightful sometimes (if i do say so myself - and you can see i am so humble:p) You are on your way to becoming a healthy strong woman... xoxoxox Janet -
Productive Burp - a burp where your food comes back up - it's sorta like throwing up but not really. You burp and up comes your food that you are usually stuck on or that you over ate - Let me state for the record that this has been MY experience. IMHO - I'd take communition - but just to make everyone happy here - you should ask your surgeon- I bet he would ok it. But that just my opinion and i am not a doctor with a degree ( my disclaimer before i get attacked)

I think all 3 doc s/b talking to one another - I had a gf who's pcp & endocrinolgist didn't talk to one another and she ended up having some heart problems from her thyroid meds...
-
Heather - you are correct - both bypass & bander can and some do gain their weight back - it is not the fault of the bypass or band - but of the person as they choose to return to their old eating habits. Neither the Band or Bypass are the magical answers for weight loss as they are only tools. Now if they could develope a band for your brain - then you might get 100% forever results - but not with what we have available now..

Post Op Pain PILLS?
IndioGirl55 replied to mdicurn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't think you need anymore - transfer addiction sound familar. I had liquid vicoden and never used it - i never used any pain meds after 7/18 around 2 p.m. -
NO ONE KNOWS THE LAP BAND HASN'T BEEN AROUND FOR 20 YRS . I think it's been approved in the USA since 2001 Sharon Osborne - i think was baned 1999 - It's been around longer in England & Austrila She is wrong on what most doctors say - they get more $$$ for bypass My doc says it depends on your eating issues & weight -on which one he will recommend
