Ruby - Congrats on the blood sTest and being normal:clap2: Jackie - what's it like to wear??? I thought i read that it can tell how many calories you consume a day - how many calories did you but in one day and was that w/or w/o exercise.??? Unruhlyhd Today at lunch we were talking about eating healthy (refuse to call it a diet cuz this change will be for a life time - not just a few months) and I have been wanting cookies - but i can't buy a bag cuz i will eat then all - i just dont have that kind of will power to eat only 1 -2 or 4 - by the end of the weekend they would be all gone. Well I had this great idea - take my weight control cinniamon oatmeal and make cookies with it - 1 packet has 160 carlories and 7 gr pt. So when i got home i tried it - wanted to add a tad of eggbeater but only had southwestern flavor - so added just a tad eggwhite - tiny box of raisin - a sprinkle of bakeing soda and just enought Water to moisten. sprayed the cookie sheet w/butter pam - - i had them on the cookie sheet then thought i should add some more splenda - so did it and sorta mixed them on the cookie sheet - sprayed them with more pam baked in 350 for about 6 minutes. it makes 4 cookie @ 40 calories each They came out ok - do need more splenda added in the mixing stage and not as an after thought - and the eggbeater would have been better. But they aren't bad if you want a few cookies without the calories and with out haveing a whole bag sitting around tempting you. Does anyone remember the WW pumpkin muffins that you got 6 muffins for 1 veggie exchange - I know i am dating my self - some of you only know the point system Well those muffins were a life saver for me - i wish i could have that receipe again - use to make it w/sweet n low but it didn't bake well - now w/splenda i bet they would be good. I couldnt eat all six but heck one would be nice .. So whadda ya'll think of my great idea - anyone know how i might improve on it without adding any calories??? CC IMHO you are not eating enought !!!!! you arent getting your protein!!! ya me thinks you might need a tad unfill - please add some Soup w/protein powder or some shakes

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Michelle - At least her asking you about your fills keeps her mind off her problems - My prayer for a speed recovery  I don't eat out much so I don't have that to deal with that and don't have much company - did during the summer when the kids would come to swim- but when i am with my sis & other family - it's always about the food.:hungry: OMG getting audited - that's enought to make you want snack.. :omg: Good luck on that - My Dad's business got audited when we were kids - i just remember that i had a gas cc in the name of business - but after the audit i didn't I was 16 - 17 out of the house but do remember talk of him being audited - dont really know what happend Ok gang - do we have any bakers out there ??? Today at lunch we were talking about eating healthy (refuse to call it a diet cuz this change will be for a life time - not just a few months) and I have been wanting cookies - but i can't buy a bag cuz i will eat then all - i just dont have that kind of will power to eat only 1 -2 or 4 - by the end of the weekend they would be all gone. You got me just cracking up on that one - you know me crabcake don't you
  8. Thanks Nickaknut;) - I don't know about eloquently:rolleyes: - but in plain old english that everyone can understand (as long as you can read it like i thought it not necessarily typed it :biggrin1: - i will mean know and type no etc cant spell or type half the time) Between my doctor - seminar and this and 2 other boards (Like this one the best) I gained alot of knowledge - plus now i am banded and can tell people my experience with the band. I can't stress enought you gotta change your eating habits and exercise - it seems like alot of people don't get it - you gotta get your protein - you gotta follow your doctors order.... i could go on and on - infact - I think there is a rant about this stuff. Good Luck and I will be seeing you around and talking to you later XOXOX Janet

    need a talipia recipe

I eat fish 5 times a week - I just made up this recipe 2 nights ago... Catfish or Tilapia any fish you want El Pato (mex tomato sauce yellow can with a duck on it it think) Garlic Powder EV Oilve Oil Put a little evoo (rachael ray fans) in bottom of pan - roll fish in it - season with garlic powder salt & pepper then pour a can of El Pato over it - back in oven (depending on type of fish) 15-20 min @ 350 . I LOVED IT... I love cornmeal encrusted fried fish - well those days are gone so here is my new healthy version of fried fish Any Fish Eggbeater corn mea seasoned w/lGarlic powder - salt - pepper (sometimes add cayanee sp powder Pam Wash & pat dry fish - dip in eggbeaters - dredge in seasoned cornmeal mixture - lay on cookie sheet lined w/foil and sprayed with pam - then spray top of fish with some more pam. bake 15 - 20 minutes or until done. I usually just bake my fish in oven with a little evoo - garlic powder salt and pepper - may add some cajun seasons one day - or a tad parmensee (sp) cheese on top. Love all fish !!!! except orange roughy - it's a little dry for me - usually eat - dover sole - salmon - catfish - tilapia - trout - use to love chillien sea bass - use to be cheap (yrs ago) but i never see it unless it's frozen..

Linda You have lost 53 lbs since being band (even if that includes pre-op) !!!! OMG friggin fantastic... Your body may just be taking a little rest - I have read/heard that if you are at a platue (sp) you need to increase the intensity of your exercise and thats supose to help - and increase your calories every other day to 1200 i find this helps too. You are doing great - and we all will have some weeks that the scales won't move - but next week they will

I could not walk on the treadmill long enought for my heart rate to get up there (i guess) - i walked for a bit and told the doctor this isn't bad - then he increased the incline and speed - i would only walk for a short period of time - I take atentoal (sp) which to my understanding slows my heart beat - When I asked "do i have clogged arteries - (my dad had angioplasty sp) he said i wasn't on treadmill long enought to get a reading so i had 2 choices nuclear stress or angiogram... I chose the nuclear stress test - That's why i said I failed the stress test.. I walk on the treadmill at gym (35 lbs lighter than when I did my stress test 3 months ago) and on a 5 incline for 2 minutes the machince say my heart rate only gets to 118 - max 122.. I know that these aren't super reliable - but i attribute it to my meds - but again - i am just a tv internet licensed doctor You have a great day too :biggrin1:- also just a little suggestion change your name to something more positive - like "Nurses2bthin" - We gotta think on the postive note  Truely - my DIL is a nurse - and this could be her name too i'm not being mean - it's just when i saw your name - it made me think of her.

    Awesome News!!!!

It depends on what your insurance requires - i too had done ww - jenny craig - diet pill doctor - i just gave them the yrs about how much i lost and then regained- and that worked for me - but again that was what my insurance accepted (blue cross ca) Good luck
  19. Coo This thread is as good as any - you will learn here that people have strong opinions - Some people think that supporting them equates to telling them it ok to continue with bad habits and that it's ok to make a statement that "the truth about the band is that you will spend all your time over the toliet." This is what was objected to - it was her truth but not the truth for everyone and that's what this whole discussion has been about. IMHO i think you will find more positive opnions than negative ones on this board... You would only spend time over the toliet if you are too tight or if you eat too fast or if you don't chew well or if you eat too much or if the food you are trying to eat doesn't agree with your band. Some people can't eat certian foods - Bread - rice - pasta - Chicken etc - I for one can eat anything i want - I have restriction - I choose to eat healthy - lots of fish (i like it) veggies - brown rice etc. IMHO the band is a great tool - but it's only that - a tool - the band its self isn't going to make you lose weight - only you can do that by choosing healthy foods - you can't keep eating high fat - high sugar foods - the band will let you eat these things and if you choose to continue to eat in this manner you aren't going to be a band success story. It was stated if you could do this pre-band then you wouldn't need the band - to a point i agree as the band is a portion control device but thats all it is - you control the calories - if you want to be successfull you have to make a committment to changing your eating habit and add exercise into your life. It's not that one piece of cake that made you fat - it was eating the whole damn thing. You can still have cake, candy, fried foods - but only occassinally - not ever day. You have to allow wiggle room (not room enought for another person) to live a normal life - but you have to retrain your brain too. The band is no diff than any other program out there - Some will succeed on WW - Jenny Craig - LA Weight - Bypass & Lapband surgery - but there are those who didn't continue with their committment to change their eating habits and they will not succeed. Again this is my personal opinion formed from the data on the band and bypass - there are people out there that were either banded or had bypass and have put all the weight they lost back on - Why - did the surgery fail (they would like you to beleive that it did - but it didn't - the tool worked ) it was the person who chose to go back to their unhealthy eating habits. Plain and simple. Read all you can - and take it all in - both positive and negative but remember - just like with anything else - you can walk out your front door and get hit by a truck - but that doesn't mean everyone who walks out their front door is going to.. Good luck on your journey... I love my band !!!
