I make shakes w/unflavored protein (unjury) mix with yogurt & fresh or frozen fruit and bananas - yummy... I use that Protein powder more than i do my chocolate... I never had a problem drinking water even after surgery but i think that 1st week i did take sips -- only after my 1st fill did i have to slow down and now that's gone - I can gulp water. Can't wait for my 2nd fill - What is your doc's diet 3 days mushies then to soft?? That's pretty good - - I had 10 days full liquids - 10 days pureed - 10 days soft and then regular. Truely though i eat mostly soft food t 90% of the time. I have to go back to full liquids the 1st week after a fill - i find if i make home made soup i do ok - i can't stand the canned stuff after a couple of days.

Not losing - 5 months out - help!!!!
IndioGirl55 replied to Pugger's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes Kaohinani - The secert to weight loss with the band is no diff than all the other diets out there and we really need to throw away the term diet - this is not somethng you are going to do for the short term - this is a whole lifestyle change for the rest of your live - you have to make healthy food choices and limit your portions - and introdcue excercise into your daily routine. I keep a food diary - weigh & measure my food - count caloires and Protein - I am down 39 lbs as of 10/11 -How?? Most me for making healthy food choices exercising 5 days a week - I haven't found my sweet spot yet - but hopefully on the 24th i will -

Denise That's the good thing about the band - it won't allow you to eat stuff that isn't the healthiest - Do you like fish - it goes down real easy - I eat fish 5-6 nights a week - bake it and eat tons of yellow crooked neck squash - also my band does allows me rice - I only make 1 cup (cooked) at a time and put 1/2 away for the next nights dinner. -
Welcome back Lynette - I too can't wait for my fill on the 24th - i can eat a cow if i allowed myself.. I can eat bread - I bought the lite stuff with only 80 calories for 2 slices - I haven't tryed a bagel - but don't really want to cuz of the calories... Jackie - I agree with you about the eating breakfast - well back in the old days when I was younger - I wouldn't eat breakfast and I wasn't all that hungry - but if i did i would be hungry all day... I have noticed though in the last few yrs i am now hungry in the mornings around 8-9 a.m - and i have to eat - I can't ignore it any longer. I really try to eat lite in the mornings - about 100 calories max - and 200 for lunch - cuz i am a pig once night time comes... I find that if i am out and about away from home i am not as hungry as i am when i just sit and read or watch tv - if i doing something - I don't think as much about food as when i'm not.. Well - off to get my GS windows tinted - have been up since 6:30 - did 4 miles at the gym again this morning - my new goal - 4 miles every saturday - along with my 2 or 3 miles the other 4 days a week

You can do it to Davimt - remember the band is only a tool it will do 25% of the work - but the other 75% is up to you... I eat 1000 - 1200 calories a day - I count caloires & protein only - i keep a little book with me - the 1stweek i only counted protein - Once i had my doc visit and moved to mushie i started calories counting - I also walk on the treadmill 4 to 5 times a week - started out doing a 30 minute mile - now doing a 16.50 minute mile - did 4 miles last saturday... I make healthly food choices, i eat ton's of fish... I eat low fat - sugar free - I am WORKING really hard at this... I have some restriction but need another fill soon... Good luck !!!

OMG Dav - I was still on my back with a pain pump the 1st day - had surgery 7 a.m in my room around 10;30 I guess - they took away my pain pump around 7:30 p.m. - and then just had shots until the next day 7/18. You are doing FRIGGIN fantastic - heck i read today where some were off work for 2 weeks - I Had surgery on tues and back to work on monday... Congrats on being banded.:clap2::clap2:

Thanks Linda No I don't feel bad at all really - I appreciate the encouragement though I am not one who feels too much guilt (i can be selfish at times) I am great at giving it to my kids - I would make a great jewish mother (no offensive intended to any jewish people - I am almost jewish - grew up with a jewish girl who's parents spoke hebrew when they didn't want us to know what they were taking about - we were born 13 days apart - both chubby girls - both sucked our thumbs - met when we were 2 at nursery school - we call each other sisters - She went to church more than she went to temple - i digress ) but I don't accept it "it is what it is and all you can do is go forward" - I only had a bowl of cheerios (honey nut) 3/4 cup with 2% milk - so it wasn't like i went out and ate a whole cake or a bag of reese Peanut Butter cups (my fav) - i usually eat 1000 to 1200 calories a day - last nite had an extra 1/4 of tatoes & then the Cereal and ck leg... OMG to have to talk for 1 1/2 hrs - I could do it for 5 minutes but that would be it.. Good Luck on that...

I am jealous - I love the islands - Well have a bite or 2 for me too.. Have fun and enjoy yourself - I know that with one less chin you will. Love it well said....

Saintluver - is this pre-op or have you been banded?? On the pre-op I was allowed oatmeal - bar- shake - bar - Soup - I could do it all execpt for the soup - so I called the doc and asked if i could have a small salad and a piece (4oz) of baked fish for dinner - they said yes - so if this is pre-op call and ask if you can do this - it can't hurt to ask - it's better to eat a little something that fail all together... If you have been banded you gotta be on full liquids until your doc tells you ok to move to mushiee - have you tried creamed Soups... Good Luck !!!
-
Lori - Glad to hear you are doing better - I was banded on a tuesday too and by friday i was feeling a whole lot better - i was in the hospital for 2 nites - 1st nite mandatory - and 2nd nite due to gas pains i had the afternoon i was suppose to be released - afraid to go home in that kind of pain - but it was gone by 6 p.m on the 18th and i really could have gone home- it was the first 12 hrs that were the worst for me... Make sure you get all your Protein in as this will help you heal.. Good Luck..

"How Long Did You Take Off From Work"
IndioGirl55 replied to karely's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Never used any pain meds after 7/18 and i was banded 7/17 - I didn't have staples - all my surgery incisions were glued shut - with a couple steri strips on my port site - I also have pto - but didn't want to use my vacation/sick time up doing nothing - I really was able to come back on day 6 - but like you said everyone is different - their are 40 yr olds who take that much time too - so i don't really thing it's all about the age.. -
A place for bandsters in their 60's
IndioGirl55 replied to Oregondaisy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Carol - you are welcome - I always try to figure things out myself 1st and don't always read instructions all the way thru - Good Luck - it did work - You can do it !!!! Phyllis - freinds don't let friends drive drunk - well our saying should be "Band Friends don't let Band Friends Eat" - it's alway different when a fat person who has the same struggles as you "tells you not to eat" than when a thin one does - I think it's cuz we understand each other better - The downfall from me in the past has always been allowing those 1st 10 back on then it's 15 - etc... You can do this.... Donna - Welcome - read read read ask questions - this place is great for info... Good Luck on your Journey -
Sorry to read about your terrible expereince - My doc numbs you up first thankfully cuz it took him a while to find the soft spot in my port to fill. I would go back and tell him to try again - but numb you up first...

Carol Here you go - follow these instructions http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f5/ticker-tutorial-pictures-41782/ -
Jackie - its a good thing you are taking care of this right away - I pf'd last night on my midnight trip to the kitchen - ate too fast didn't chew. That's the only time I have pb'd is inthe middle of the night when i eat Yesterday i was hungry - and ate too much (good foods not bad) but ate 1500 calories OMG can you believe i am saying 1500 is too much when it use to be 3000 c would be just a daily intake... I guess there has been some change to my mental food issues.. I might still over do it a tad - but it's no longer brownie - whole tamale pies - etc... Oh ya - gotta report that I didn't exercise yesterday - i HAVE to go today Hope everyone has a good day - Dini hope you are feeling better...
-
Doesn't surprise me - My mind is gone already - hate to think what i am going to be llike in another 10 yrs:eek: I can't wait for the sweet spot - I ate too much yesterday - not bad foods but too much food - 1500 calories - OMG I now consider that too much food when it use to be 4000 calories. Well that is a big improvement
-
Denise Just shakes- i can't do that liquid only stuff... I gotta have a little food Didn't u just get an un-fill cuz you were too tight??? or am i confusing you with someone else??

IndioGirl55 replied to Pugger's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pugger 1st quesstion what are you eating??? Are you keeping a food diary or logging your food on fitday.com?? Are you exercising??? Calories in vs Calories out = weight loss. I don't have much restriction - could eat a horse half the time - but i am makeing healthly food choices keeping my calories at 1000 - 1200 a day and exercise 5 times a week. Ya gotta let us know what you are or aren't doing for us to help.. -
Considering Lap-Band, scared, have questions
IndioGirl55 replied to Linda Hamsing Rosen's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Linda Can't answer the cholesterol question cuz even fat mine is ok When you have proper restriction you are full faster - no more 20 minutes. Some can eat steak - some can't - i can if i chew well and it's not over done - it's an individual thing .. Good luck on your journey -
