Jackie - It's great that you are being Pro-active and getting another fill - I too try and ask myself am I really hungry or just bored... I just try and find low calorie foods to eat or at least healthy (extra veggies) - last night ate some grapes & watermelon- but when i got up for my midnite snack coule only eat 3/4 of those SMALL sf pudding cups.. I think that some days we are just hungrier than others - And who knows about that STUPID SCALE - one day 204, next day 207 - I hate it!!!!! working towards 204.5 by Thurs our weigh in day... I didn't get to exercise on sat but went today - it should be getting easier - but some days it's harder... I think it's that way for everyone even people without weight issues.. Snow OMG it's 90 here 68 at night - my GD said she wished it would get cold soon here it is Nov and it's still 90 - people here are still in shorts and sandels.... White Xmas - whats that I just pray for a cloudy cool day for Christmas - I hate it when its sunny and 82 Christmas day.. What are you reading?? I started a Dean Koontz the other day - but haven't really gotten into it yet ... Well, just cking in while my dinner cooks - fish & veggies maybe a small baked potatoe... Talk to ya later - sweet dreams.

Distant - i can relate to that as i have experienced loss my mom in 1970 I was 15 - my dad & stepmoms with in 1 month of each other in 92 - best girl friend the april 94 - younger brother 5/99 - nephew in 2000 all I can tell you is that you are obviously a very strong woman to have to have dealt with such a heart wrenching ordeal i don't know how you have survived - i think i would have lost my mind - I know that i really wouldn't that God would get me through - but that's how i feel anyway. Againg blessing to you...

How is weight loss for people over 50?

2bthinagn 35.5 lbs gone:clap2: You are doing good - It most likely shows - but since we are always so hard on ourselves you just aren't seeing it like a stranger would - (post them so we can see your before & progress) Some times when you have more weight to lose it takes a little longer for it to really show. Don't be discouraged by your pic's - the real answers are in how do you feel - how are your clothes fitting - I bet you are feeling so much better!!! Just think you are not carrying around 3 - 10 pound sacks of potatoes and 5.5 pounds of butter - I bet you that your weight loss is noticable - it's just that we are doing so much work that we think it should just melt off like that... but remember you didn't put it on in 3 months - so it's not all going to be gone in 3 months... One day at a time - 1 pound at a time - don't get discouraged - just think in another 3 months - the total will be 70 gone !!

kirajih - I am so sorry for your loss - I have 3 grandkids and the eldest is like my own child - I can't imagine the pain that you have to indure. My prayers to you and your family... I am an organ donor - and yes I heard that you can some time go to a burn center and donate your skin (apron - don't know the official name masomething - even arms) a way to get the plastic surgery for free... Distant I too am sorry for your loss - I can't imagine it... My heart and prayers to you and your family..

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Thanks Mistymoon !!!!! That's sweet - Frame it - I don't know if it's that good:) Cblancha - it really does depend on what you are eating and the band is fickle imho - last night had this one pot wonder - onions bell peppers jalapeno cabbage pork chop garlic soy sauce rice - all julinee and cooked ate 1 cup and was still sort of hungry (mostly head hunger) then ate 1/4 flour tortilla with meat & cheese - got golf ballk - ate some grapes (10/15) then on my midnight run had 1/2 sf pudding snack and got little golf ball. I am eating about the same as you - i eat fish 5 nights a weeks and it's soft - had chicken at chinesse last week ate chick no problem. Longhorn - had popcorn at the show the other night - and i buy the small 100 calorie bags - i just chew well and haven't had any problems Everyone is diff on what they eat - yesterday had a toast grilled cheese sandwich (lite bread 2% milk cheese) at it with no problems. Yesterday went shopping apples looked really good - so bought 2 - tried to eat 1/2 for snack today - could only eat 1/4 - I LOVE MY BAND ....
  7. You have to get a referral right - cuz you have an hmo - and this is your pcp that's tellling you to lose weight - imho your doc is assh*le. I was 250 and am 5'4 too when I met with the surgeon, but I have a ppo - so i went directly to the surgeon in my book - can you change pcp docs to someone who is more understanding -

Salsa - OMG 10-12 the graders - My Grandson who is a junior lives with me - I wouldnt want to teach high school or even middle school - give me the 2nd or 3rd grader ;o) Ya i understand size thing - I was getting size 22/24 prior to being banded for my tops (i hate tight clothing - I was/am very aware of my back fat and hate when rolls show thru your clothes) and 18 pants at the bbw (big beatiful women) stores - avenue - lane bryants.. Not sure of size yet - really haven't bought anything cuz - I don't want to spend $$$ when I am going to lose more weight - so I will just muddle throught for now - may look next weekend for a couple things as I have a couple of parties to attend - but can't wait to shop in the womens section and no more bbw section

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Longhorn - Congrats on being banded :clap2: as each day passes you will feel better - I was banded on Tues - back to work the following Monday. Your port site is going to be the most painful for awhile but it goes away too. Make sure to drink your water & get all your protein and you will do great.... Misty - I gotta say that for that for the most part - shear will power is what you have to do until you hit your sweetspot - My 1st fill it took the doc forever to find the soft spot in my port - that fill lasted about a week - i am lucky cuz my 2nd fill on 10/24 - found the soft spot right away and I have good restriction.. I wrote a long dissertation on will power a few pages back- We think we don't have it - but we really do as the band helps ... We have to change our whole way of dealing with food - and prior to getting proper restriction is a great training grounds imho Make good food choices - this is a life time committment...

Gail - Welcome Hi blue eyed baby - It's hard to get that exercise in when you work so much - I am lucky to have 7:30 to 4 job. Kirajh - Congrats on the 5lbs - see increase exercise cut out cookie and you are a winner Salsa - What grade do you teach?? Yes it's the average that counts that's why I don't weigh daily that up and down depresses me - the days that i think i am doing great i'm up 3 lbs - days i over eat - i am down 2 go figure.. Unruhlydhd- I must eat my veggies or I get stopped up (tmi:D) Janiee - IMHO if you can exercise I really beleive that it will help - I really think it's my secret to my 43.5 gone - I think we will have the challenge between Turkey & Old St Nick - so make sure to join us for that one :Banane20: Linda - I agree with you - I may go a couple of days and not get on the computer - but when i do the 1st place i always come is here - I agree the support we have here is so GREAT.. I too may jump on the scale during the week - but only record on Thursday ... Nichole - I understand the alcohal - but you have to enjoy your life - it's that we cant eat as much and the booze hits us faster imho CONGRATS on 16 :clap2: - Happy Sunday Morning - Hope everyone enjoys that extra hour of sleep this morning.. 2 GREAT NSV to report -- went to the show last night with a friend - looking for something to wear cuz everything is so baggy on me - welll decided to try on these size 14 jeans that i have had for about 3 yrs (never worn) - i tried them on a couple of weeks ago and they still didn't fit - last night - they FIT - 2nd NSV sitting at the show I can cross my legs - my girl friend guessed my weight to be 180 - Told her no - 206 - she said omg by the time you get to goal you are going to be looking great... Went to the cheesecake factory for dinner - ate the inside of 1 1/2 fish tacos - one bite of rice and shared a piece of low carb cheese cake - It's funny when I tired on those jeans and was able to cross my legs - do you know the 1st thing that came to mind - My LUCKY #7 gang - couldn't wait to share - Other are happy for me it's not that its just you guy REALLY UNDERSTAND what a great acomplishment it is to cross your legs or fit it to a size you haven't worn in YEARS...

    Help with attaching picture.

How to Attach a Picture to a Post 1. Use the Edit or Post Reply buttons (not Quick Reply) to open an Edit window that has an attachment option. 2. Click on the Attachments icon (the paperclip) located above the box where you enter text, just to the right of the white smiley face icon. That will open a "Manage Attachments" window. 3. Click on the Browse button in the new window, and then browse to the picture on your computer. Once the correct picture is highlighted, click on the Open button. The browse window will close. 4. Still in the "Manage Attachments" window, click on the Upload button (next to the Browse button). To upload more than one picture, repeat this process. Once you have uploaded all of your pictures, close the "Manage Attachments" window. You will now be back in your edit window. 5. Click on the paperclip icon again and you will see your pic listed there. Select it and it will be placed in your post at the location of your cursor. You will notice that the picture will not show yet, but rather you will see something like this: [ ATTACH] 4260[/ATTACH ] with the numbers highlighted. You will need to move your cursor to the left or right of the [ ATTACH] codes before repeating the process to attach another picture. Otherwise, it will just replace the first one. Pictures can also be moved around once they are in a post. Move the mouse pointer over the image and a four-way arrow will appear. Holding down the left mouse button will "grab" the image and allow you to move it to another location in your post. Clicking on the paperclip icon and selecting "Manage Attachments" will reopen the "Manage Attachments" window and allow you to delete or add more pictures for the current post.

    First plateau...

Well just cking cuz there are so many women here and glad to hear you are all man But really, every other day increase your calories by 100 example M-1000 - T 1100 - W 1000 -T 1100 - just add healthy choice fudgecicle sf it 80 calories and really good - or some more yogurt or even a piece of fruit... I think that may help and i have read & heard quite frequently lately it's not how long you exercise but the intenstity in which you exercise.. I am no where close to being a trainer - so i am just parroting what I have been reading and hearing on tv. Good luck - I know that plateau is headed my way - but I eat as much as you do if not a tad more and I'm a girl - so i don't burn as many caloires as you do just by breathing... I relate to wanting it off fast - I too am eager to get to goal as fast as possible - but remember we didn't get fat over nite - so it's not going to come off over nite Again - Good luck - try it and let me know if it works

    Should I have to

do you think that maybe not being as successfull is where this anger is coming from MB - i don't see any stats for you
  23. IndioGirl55

    Should I have to

I think that some think that just by being banded that they are going to lose weight - that they don't have to do any of the work I read it all the time help i'm not losing I can eat anything - Well come on now just can does that mean you should. It really bugs me... They think the band is the cure all to their food issues. This is no diff than outsiders saying that that band and bypass as the easy way out. Heck if it was just the band that made you lose the weight i would agree with them - but it's not - you gotta do the work to...
