Missy - Here is some tough band love - with the operative word being love,... STOP IT NOW !!!! 1st go get a fill if you don't have proper restriction but that's not going to help you bad food choices and not following the bandsters rules NO DRINKING WITH MEALS (my doc don't drink 1/2 before or after a meal) What in the heck are you eating chocolate for... What is your calories in 1 day??? They banded your tummy not your head - you gotta do the head work this is a LIFETIME LIFESTYLE change and not a diet..... You have to make healthy food choices - you need to be eating correct portions and you need more exercise. I weigh measure my food - I count calories and Protein grams - I keep a food diary - I walk on the treadmill 4-5 days a week minimum 2 miles some days 3 and 4 on Saturday.. If you want the band to work then you have to do the work too... The band will only do about 25% of the work the other 75% is up to you... Why are you going to wait until after the holidays to increase your exercise - what's going to change between now and then execpt your weight.. Sweetheart, you really can't go back to eating the way you use to ever - cuz if you do - you aren't going to get healthly - You can have 1 or 2 pieces of pizza every now and then (like once a month max) I eat carbs but only 1/2 c rice with my dinner and i can only eat about 1/2 of that. Call your doc - get a fill ASAP and remember why you got banded in the first place - you can do this !!!

Why Purplegirl - You have done so well - it looks like you have things under control -- It's just another day.... You can make the healthly food choices and say no to things that you know aren't good for you..

You are strong - you are woman... It's only food and you have the power to say no thank you... Think about how good you feel right now - and just know that as those pounds keep dropping you are going to feel better than you do right now...

You can do this... 54 pounds gone - You can do this...

Finally settling in on the Forum and getting started
IndioGirl55 replied to Gwenn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Gwenn and Welcome !!! The band is the best thing I have ever done !!!! It is a great tool - it's my interior motivator... I gained 5 lbs between my first meeting with my surgeon and my pre-op visit. Most of us have had what we call "last meal mentallity" As far as all the test you will have to have is up to your doc - I had ton's (heart/lungs/sleep/colon/pap/mamo) but that's cuz I don't go to the doc at all. So it will depend on your doc - My only problem was high blood pressure - and mild sleep apena - but am now off the cpap machine. I am almost 50 lbs lighter than 4 months ago (bmi 43.something) - I feel so much better - This is a LIFETIME LIFESTYLE change and not a diet - you will have to make healthy food choice and include exercise into your life - I want to live to see my grandkids get married - I want to enjoy whatever yrs I have left (you understand this cuz you are in the 50 bracket too - we know that we have fewer yrs ahead than what we have already lived) If you want to extend your life - then you have to make the choice food or life - that's what it boils down to - and I rather live than eat - the band is a great tool in this sense as it does control your portions - I won't say it takes away your hunger 100% but it does help - what you learn is that we have more head hunger than real hunger most of the time... Keep on reading - there is a thread "how is weight loss for 50+ - start at page one and read read read. You can even pick a monthly support thread and read the challenge that we have gone through from getting our surgery dates to where we are today (lucky #7 - July 2007) is my support group - again start at page 1 and read forward and you will see how we dealt with everything. Here is a thread Justlosingme - made up to help newbies - get to the page with all the help they need to understand the lingo etc..... Good Luck on your journey... Are you new? Do you have questions? Come in here! There is a thread for Lap-Band Surgery FAQs and References located HERE. LOTS of great info is HERE (same link). Go here too... things it covers: what is a PB? what does DH mean? what do you suggest I buy before surgery? I have a consult tomorrow, what do I need to ask the doctor? how do I get a ticker? what is a fill? I had surgery 3 days ago and am very hungry, can I eat _____ (anything other than liquids)? (short answer - not unless your doctor said you could - more than likely not) welcome to LBT! __________________ -
Ya it's going to be really cool to meet another Lucky #7 - I am really looking forward to it.. Infact can't wait.... Don't be so hard on yourself - if you carry your weight in your legs then even at 100 you aren't going to be happy - you gotta accept your body shape and just learn to deal - or you could go have lippo - but i have seen that surgery on tv and i don't think i would do it and then you gotta wear llke a griddle (sp) for 2 months... Be happy that you are only 17 lbs away from goal - Glad to hear that you and Adam are getting along - that's Great to hear i know how tough it is when you arent - No I haven't heard of the daivd gray - will go ck him out.. Too funny about the drinking - but ya that does happen sometimes:rolleyes: and ya the being hungry and can't eat is a bummer .. Thanks for the 198 - that would be great but will be happy with 199 will be exercising my butt of for the next 2 days.... xoxox Janet

IndioGirl55 replied to heidiaintnoho's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome heidiaintnoho - I don't have diabetes - I just had high blood pressure (2 meds) i am down to 1 and most likely will be getting off that shortly - I don't have all that you have wrong - but I am short 5'4 and right now I am NOT carrying around 5 10lbs bags of potatoes - I can now take the stairs - I feel 1000% better than I did 4 months ago - I started at the gym doing 1 mile in 20 minutes and that was a tought 20 minutes - Today I did 4 miles today in 1 hr 8 min - 16/17 min mile. I did this for my health - I want to be around to see my grandkids get married - I had given up on ever losing weight again - it was just too hard. My band is my interior motivator... It's only a tool and the light bulb finanlly came on - this is a LIFETIME - LIFESTYLE CHANGE not a diet - the band will help you control your portions once you have good restriction - but it's only that a tool and not the magic cure to your food issues - I eat healthy normal portoins 4 oz meat/fish 1/2 c veggies 1/2 c rice - the days of 16 oz steaks load baked potatoes - salads dripping in dressing are gone forever - If you are willing to do the work (healthly food choices - exercise) this is the greatest tool to help you acheive a healthy life. Good Luck on your Journey... -

I have parties coming up on 12/1 (3 on the same day) - and it's isnt the food i am scared of but the drinking - but who knows - maybe i won't be in the mood to drink - it was funny on friday 2 wines i got a buzz - but saturday drank 3 or 4 magritas (big) and never got a buzz.. Gotta stick to wine - it's not so high in calories - Have fun in NYC - a bunch of us girls plan on going next november (Hopefully) I really want to go.. My Dad was from NY... Each day only comes once a year - it doesn't give us license to over eat - one meal isn't going to undo 3 months of hard work - but one meal can lead you to making bad choices on a daily basis - 1 drink to an alcolholic is 1 too many.. 1 piece of pie can be 1 too many for a food addict The Lap Band is NOT a DIET but a tool to help you control your portions - the lap band is A LIFETIME LIFESTYLE change So why not take a different look at the day - Give thanks for what you have - IT's NOT ALL ABOUT THE FOOD - food will be here from now to the day you die - Have a little turkey - have a little mashed potatoes - have a little veggies and if you can have a little pie - but if having that little pie will put you back into that SUGAR mode - then make one that is sf and have 1 tiny piece - this is my plan - double layer pumkin pie - made with lf cream cheese - splenda - sf pudding - sf cool whip and pumkin.. Don't Graze - eat your meals as you would any other day It's not all about the food - It's all about a healthier you....

Do you ever get frustrated with band babies?
IndioGirl55 replied to TamifromAL's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There should be a tread on the main page that say "NEWBIES" read here 1st... The FAQ i don't think i read - but i would start at page one of a thread and read all the way through - and usually if you just keep reading you will find out what pbing, slime and how to get a ticker. I think that all these things s/b in the "NEWBIES READ HERE FIRST" THREAD.. I also can't believe it when someone has had surgery and they don't know what to eat -but i guess that's really the doc's fault - mine gave me a binder with all the info needed as to each stage of the food plan and I even had homework on menu planing and counting Protein grams. -
Green is our lapband junkie with no bra or shoes and sportin her jewelry eh :heh: and her brand new face - LOVE IT:p

I agree no xmas until after turkey day !!!!! Heck here in the desert it was in the 90's last week and today i think 85... We will have to turn on the a/c when cooking this yr.. It is suppose to cool to 75 by turkey day - but we will see... I cleaned gs bathroom - omg that child is such a surface cleaner... well i guess i can't complain too much he does clean up and not a pig like some teenagers... But his tub and floors required a good scrubing and so do the doors - but i am out of cleaning supplies - so tomorrow will do my weekly target shopping...
