Workinonit - I just responded to your So Cali post - I live in Shadow Hills Area - northside of freeway - Starting in February they are having Lapband only support group - 2/4 - 3/4 - 4/1 - 5/6 - 6/3 Tues AT 6 pm at the Stergios bldg across the street from Dr Bobby's Office... I was afaird that my metabolism would be real so too - but so far it's been ok - now i am hitting a platuea (sp) but heck 60 lbs gone in 6 months I am HAPPY... Phyl - on this thread & part of the Lucky #7s (our monthly group) is a snowbird and lives in Sky Valley during the winter - we have met and she will be going to the group meeting in Feb - so maybe you can come too.. Welcome and look forward to you being part of our group... -
FINALLY... I live in INDIO !!! Are you going to doc bobby??? We have a girl from PS - Kity who is an April bander who I have met. Welcome !!! Glad to see someone else from our area here - i always felt so alone in this thread...

Yep Phyl - I know that my spelling & typing is atrocious (see I used word to proof this cuz I couldn’t spell atrocious) – I leave out words or type did and mean didn’t or an when I meant and - I even try and proof my stuff but I am not very good at it. I am one of those people who read every 3rd word – I know you all have most likely gotten that email – where most of the words are misspelled but you can still read it – that’s me - my vocabulary is a lot bigger than what I can spell and this spell checker doesn’t work - – . I use to be a ok speller - but now a days I can't spell "THE" half the time – No feelings hurt – I just figure you all get my drift Congrats on the – 2 lbs – that great :clap2: Jackie – it has always been that way – cash gets a lower price – this is due to the fact that they don’t have to go thru all the billing and waiting for their $$$ (cost of salary for billing – paper – stamps – wc – taxes etc) - My hospital bill was $64,000 but insurance only paid $3000 something – It makes no sense but that’s just how it goes – they bill an outrageous amount to get paid less than ½ of what they billed. You will be onelander next week.. Congrats…:clap2: Karri – I sure wish we could fix your problems – I can just imagine how hard this is on you physically and mentally. How was the butternut squash soup?? You can’t even drink much of that?? I had my tooth pulled last nite and 2 teeth ground down for bridge – so when I got home I took my liquid vicoden and napped for about half an hour – woke up hungry and wanted comfort food that was soft – well ended up with Mac & Cheese – 1 cup - not the most healthiest food choice – but really didn’t feel like fish veggies etc. Scale only down ½ lbs this morning - I was looking for at least 1 lbs – but think I did/do have little water retention going on (omg – this is the oldest excuse in the world ) But I will be happy with ½ loss instead of gain or nothing. So it’s taken me 3 weeks to lose 1 ½ lbs… I am now officially 60 lbs lighter than 6 months ago – so that in itself is a BIG accomplishment and that’s what I have to realize… Well need to get back to the job they pay me to do:glasses - Will ck back later... xoxo Janet

Potty training that's the only part of getting a doggie that's a pain.. You gotta watch them 24/7 - take them out every 1/2 hr - I have never been able to get my dogs to pee on those pads - they just chew them up... Put the potty pads on the bottom of her crate - that way you just have to remove that... Do you take her out right before bed?? They say that they aren't suppose to pee where they sleep - but i find that they do - what do you do with her during the day... It's a great thing that those lbs that you put on from the holidays are coming off so fast - :clap2:
-
I would do it for you baby girl - but I can't do 6th grade math :Banane26: If you have a key to follow then ya - send them over I ck em for you. Hungry Hope it gets better soon - they way you are going you maybe should go get a milkshake or something - do you drink coffee go get one of those latte thingies...

Eating alot after surgery
IndioGirl55 replied to sci gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bandster - I am not as strong as you think - I am no diff from you - If I had cheetos in my house - I would eat them I love puff cheetos - so I just keep the bad stuff out of the house - I am a fat chick too - with food issues. Plus I have 27 yrs on you. I have been fatter and fought my weight for more years than you have been alive. Age does have it's benefits (except my legs look like they belong to an 80 yr old lady:eek:) I could be a diet coach - run a WW meeting - I can tell you how to do it - but until I was banded never followed what I knew for more than a few months. I guess also I researched this for the last 2 yrs - lapbands weren't covered by insurance 2 yrs ago - but now they are - I didn't want bypass - I think all the research and my over 50 gang - really pounded into me that the band is only a tool - so I was prepared. I am so glad to here that your will power is now 10 fold - that's great:clap2: We have the tool that enables us to regain our will power.. Good Luck to you... -
Ok gang this is going to be quick - cuz I got tons of work - but gotta put my 2 cents in for the day - don't want you all to forget about me. Kari - OMG - thank God you survived... Where you on a cruise or did you just pickup the germ in your world.. Karri - I think a lot of doc's are just in this to make $$$ that $32K is just too far out there pluse all the extras - My doc does have a large program fee - but it includes the nutristionst - fills for 5 yrs... Glad you are getting your protein - I tivo Biggest Loser will watch tonitee. What is making you slime????

Eating alot after surgery
IndioGirl55 replied to sci gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Imb - I am sorry that you are having such a hard time - but my 1st question is why did you get banded in the first place - Did you think that the band was going to do all the work for you .. You do have self control - it is just buried so far down in your brain because you haven't used it is so long that you forgot how,.. I don't mean to be mean here - but there are alot of people who also see a shrink about their food issues. This may be something you might want to look into - since you are on a self destruction road here. You are risking your band by eating when you aren't completely healed - ie the the reason for the post op diet. Your stomach is stiched around the band - and when your stomach digest food it's pulling on that - which isn't heal and can come loose and cause your band to slip.. You can not get a fill only 2 weeks out - fills are usually given at about 6 weeks. Again - you are relying on the band to do the work - the band only does 25% of the work the other 75% is up to you. Even with the band you can be full but still want to eat (head hunger which the band does not help at all) - and the way it sounds you will continue to eat after you are full which will cause you to pb - which in turn can cause your band to slip. They banded your tummy not your brain and truly that's where the problems is at in our brains. You need to call your doctor ASAP and talk to him about your situation maybe he can direct to someone who can help you.. I really think that you need to take responsiblity for you and your actions You are an adult and you can do this - you gotta take the words "I can do it" out of your vocabulary - Please call your doctor - that's what he is there for No you aren't the only person doing this - but you are in the minority and what does it matter if others are doing it - it doesn't make it right bandster - i understand what you are saying to a degree - but I disagree about the will power - it goes to the self control above - we have it - we just never used it when it came to food. I guess i am about the only person on this board - but I don't find that my band makes me less hungry and i have restriction. I still want to eat - I love the taste of food - i can eat dinner and 1 hr later am hungry again - So when people say they aren't hungry cuz of the fill- I don't get it - ya i can't eat more than 1 cup of food - at one time - but if i wanted to I could graze all day... The way I control what i put in my mouth is by the decision I make at the store -I plan my meal and if you don't have junk in the house you cant eat it.. Timeforeme - RIGHT ON WELL SAID -:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2: -

Hey Irishmae - Welcome to the 50+ thread - We are a pretty great gang Donna - you are doing great !!! its all that exercise - if i didn't exercise I wouldnt lose on my 1000 -1200 calorie heatlhy eating.. Nope - its still there - this one can been seen by all the new people - where our other one wasn't so active and hard to find. C.N. Welcome ..... Carol - they have some - google chair exercise and you should find something - I remember seeing chair exercise with that bands that Phyl was talking about - don't remember the site - google bariatric surgery exercise - it was at some site that sold Protein supplements etc - Phyl you are too funny... Saleel - 1955 was a GREAT year :Banane42: Welcome C.N. Check with your doc - but it won't be for a while cuz your port site has to heal before you can do crunches - So far all i really do is walk on the treadmill -but am going to have to hit the weights soon.. -
Lapedtolive - Congrats on your anniversary... Make an appointment for a fill and make healthy food choices - those pounds will come off.. Distant You and I are in the same boat - this is why I was posting about questioning if fills are more phyisoclogical - I didn't get a fill on 12/21 cuz I had lost 17.5 - but I go back on the 21st this month - he wanted to go with Feb - but I said no lets do January = plus i need to go for my blood work. Sliming - IMHO i think it's your bodies reaction to food not going down easily - it produces the saliva to lubrecate you so the food will go down - i don't think it has anything to do with the amount of water your drink. This is just dr. janet's common sense kind of thinking :0) - I really can't state it as a fact. Try cutting your food up into half square inch bites then chewing each bite 40 times. Experimenting with this is much cheaper and better for you than getting an unfill.

Last night I was eating steak and my 1st 2 bites were stuck for 1 minute or so before they passed because I wasn't paying attention to what I was eating. I remembered the advice about bite portion and chewing and it worked for me.
Hey Ssankofa we haven't heard from you in a while - How are you doing!!! Karri - I would just do what he says - take it slow and easy. This whole Doctor issue sort of bugs me - ok say I move to where you live - what would I do.. I do have insurance but - still the way my doc talks - they don't like to see other doc's patients. That's crappy that he charges soo much - Kari - it's drink something hot to open your band . Why were you on a vent for 3 weeks - OMG that's scary... Our ports are in the same place.. Mango - Dean for middle school - OMG i feel for you... How's everyone doing tonite - I was super busy today - so never got a chance to post - All is well on my side of the world, just another day in paradise ...

Night time snacking problem...help!
IndioGirl55 replied to jigglepuff's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jigglepuff I am right there with you - I am a night time eater and even will wake up 1 a.m. want to eat.. I budget my calories to cover my night time Snacks - I will have 1 or 2 sf choc puddings - or sf fudgecicle or the snack size popcorn and eat one piece at a time.. And during the middle of the night will have a little lite oj or cran-grape juice - seems to be working for me.... My whole family are night time eaters - i say our mom never weaned us from the bottle. Good Luck with the battle.......... -
Karri I know that on my last fill it took some time for it to tighten up. Sounds like that's what yours has done. My doc does blind fills - the only time i did the fluro was the night of my surgery (banded at 7 a.m and went like 5p.m) they gave me something lemony tasting and I was so thristy it didn't taste band. If I were you I would see if that other doc will take you - I know it's a long way and you have bad weather - but you don't want to hurt yourself. Becareful... My port is above my belly button to the left - its about 4 inches belwo my bra sits - so like you where near my bra - I had to wear elastic waisted pants when i first was banded cuz the buttoned ones made the port hurt even though it's not that close I have read where some doc's put the port right below the middle of your breast bone.. My port hurt the longest - I want to say 2 week but it could have been longer Mine doesn't stick out either - I can feel it - but you know what i am remembering - it did seem to stick out more when I was first banded - She is still healing.. OK here is my motivation for the evening - I went to the gym not really feeling it today - so i said - oh just do 2 miles and then go home - well i did my 2 miles - and said to myself lower the speed a tad - and do one more mile. Well, that's what I did - I know there is a lot of debate over intenstity vs lenght of time exercising - but i figured that I might not have worked out as hard - but i did keep moving for that extra mile - so i burned more calories - OK I am off to tv and my book... Ck back later...

IndioGirl55 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Michelle - You are doing great on exercise. I would like a trainer for the weights - to make sure I am doing it right - but I watch the ones at my gym and it seem like all they do is talk - they do work you out but then they are sitting there talking a long time between sets - I want to exercise and come home - I don't want to spend 2 hrs there. Maybe i will eventually get the courage to go talk to the to see how much it cost. But I can't do lunges - it hurts my knees... I hate to tell you this but exercise isn't to help the skin issue - our skin is our skin and if it has been streached out for a while - it's most likely not going to bounce back - it's really is an individual thing - it's all about if you have good elastic genes or not. I was looking at my legs in the dressing room on Saturday - OMG from my thighs to knees my legs look like they belong to an 80 old woman... I'm only 52 but they are gross along with my bat wing - dog ear boobs - thank God for Clothes... Pineapple juice is used as a meat tenderize - it has an emzine in it to break down the meat . I never have stayed stuck that long to use it - but i have some too (use it to marinate tri-tip)- Hope to remember this if I do get stuck on ck or beef... xoxo Janet Dawgfan - It's really all about your food choices - I thought I would be a slow loser due to my age - especially when I 1st joing the 50 + gang - I make healhty food choices 98% of the time and am lucky that I have no phyical limitations that prevent me from exercising I have been very lucky as my results have come alot faster than I expected.- so I guess I didn't screw up my system in the past yrs from all the yo-yo diets and diet pills. The do have exercises that you can do with the bands if you are unable to walk very much... Hi Drosati - Sorry about the reflux - have you always had it... If you are having problems with that now a fill would make it worse from what I have read - Just keep off the good food choices and you will make it.. Shortgal - I live in the Desert so it's the summers for us when weather ruins our outside activity - I am very lucky to have a gym right across the street from my tract. So it easier just to go to the gym - i don't have to worry about it being dark - raining etc. We had the other over 50 thread - but newbies couldnt always find it - I like that Alexandrea took the suggestion and now newbie can find us easily.. Phyl I guess I am lucky - I can eat meat without sauces and haven't had any problems with veggies - but I cook them to death., I -
ditto..... I was thinking that 2 Well - on my way to the gym - will ck back later
-
I agree 100% ... I know i am not the boss of anything or anyone - lets just make an executive decision and that's what this thread will be 50-99 lbs to lose from your band date....

The I Hate Exercise But Going to Learn to Love it Thread
IndioGirl55 replied to Lap_dancer's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Patty I too dislike exercise. There was no such thing in grade school as P.E. so I just wasnt trained that way Prior to being banded I was a total slug bug.. I hate being hot !! When I dance, clean house - move period - my head sweats like a pig... But I know that exercise is the key to losing weight - once along time ago - i took some dance classes for fun - tap - ballet & jazz - I lost 20 lbs without ever changing any eating habits. Right before I got banded a gym opened up across the street from my house - so I joined - I bought an Ipod - loaded it and went. At first I could barely do a 20 minute mile and I was dead after that mile - but just kept going back - I am now doing 16 or 17 minute mile and for some songs push it to 4.0 (15 minute mile) - I am up to 3 miles most days - some days just 2 miles and everyonce in a while 4 miles (usually on Saturdays) I exercise 4-5 days a week I contribute the exercise to my weight lost - you see I do want to eat and have a treat every now & then - In order to do that I MUST exercise - do I love it - NO - but I am learning to like it and I like what I am seeing in the mirror - Me in a size 12 pair of pants... -
I think I am with you Ruby - mine keeps coming and going ...
-
Ok love the new forum lay outs !!! My way of thinking is that is should be how much you had to lose from your date of being banded - not what you have left to lose.. I had 90 to lose from the date I got banded - have lost 59.5 have 30.5 to go to goal.. jmho.....

Thanks Nicnaknut.... I am just a fat chick talking stuff other fat chicks know about - I have always kept up on and read about obesity - I just never followed the programs for any lenght of time - I know all the excuses - yadda yadda yadda.. I'm just a person who tells it like it is... I find for me - excercise is the KEY to my weight loss ... So yes if you are able to exercise - get it in gear - and Just Do It... :eyebrows: -

Yes being single (except for my Grandson) it is very easy - I don't know what I would do if I have to really cook for someone else - my GS is easy so it's no biggie - he's gone half the time anyway... My Xdh didn't like fish - so I would be up a creek - I don't have as many temptations in my way... :pYep have on a size 12 pair of pants today:p I now have 2 pairs - a pair of slacks and some ralph lauren jeans... I have never been a 12 before - 14 or 13 juniors is the smallest I ahve ever been...
