Bridget meat is Murder??? What does this mean - are you a veggan.. Bloozeye has lost 63 lbs - she is eating healthy - she is losing weight and if she want's a couple of pork skins - so be it - You have to allow your self some wiggle room - it's not the all or nothing mentally - Just because you don't want to eat them - doesn't mean others shouldn't - a little fat isn't going to kill you..

Denise - I agree I think we get a little obsessive on the joinery - on my monthly thread - I posted the question is a fill most physiological or physical - I want a fill but I don't think I really need one - I will pb if I eat too much or too fast - but am full on 1 - 2 cups food - IMHO I don't think only eating 1/4 to 1/2 c per meal is very healthy.. I think we just want this weight gone now... I know I just want to get to the point of maintaining I worry about the whole - keeping your band so tight that you can't eat just to lose weight - that's no diff than being bulimic or anorexia.. Its the obsession issue I guess - I worry about abusing the band - but I don't think my doc will let me - since he wouldn't give me a fill last month - go tomorrow but have lost about 6 lbs in the last month so he may say I am doing ok and don't need one - It's normal to be nervous - It helped me not to eat the day before surgery I will keep you in my prayers for a safe surgery & speedy recovery. I eat both but prefer eggbeater as they have half the calories (I add a little cheese & shaved ham and veggies and make omelets )- I can eat them both with no problems - but that being said you will find that what I can it - you might not be able to - it's so diff for everyone - I eat rice every nite for dinner - never had a problem - I read where alot of people cant tolerate it... It's a trial and error basis to find out what you can and can't tolerate. IMHO I think both bypass & lapband have there issues - I just didn't want to rearrange my inners - I agree with the super tight fills causing problems from what I have read and my doc had indicated. Also I think doc's push bypass cuz they make more $$ and for some it's is better than the band - especially those who have a big problem with sweets... Also - I really think that they are doing a disservice to us telling us that we can't be 100% successful in getting ALL our weight off. If you have a mindset that I can't then you won't - but if it's I can then you will - I am a real believer in postative affirmations - Please don't think you will only get a limited number of pounds off - give your self a goal and strive for that - don't settle for less. You are women - you are strong - you can get it off...:rolleyes2: -
Chim - I don't think I will ever run - last night at the gym my treadmill (yes it is my personal treadmill (under a fan)- I don't understand why other don't see my name written on it and get on it ) was occupied - so I thought I would try the elliptical - OMG - I was on it about 3 minutes then found another treadmill till mine was free - I am not coordinated enough to do that and it hurt my thighs & my knees - So Linda see I don't work out that hard - I did put the treadmill up to 5 incline for 1 songs - and kept it on 1 or 2 for most of my 3 miles. Ok gang - just cking in before I start my day... Will ck back later.

in the dead of winter, there's nothing like a bowl of hot soup to warm your soul and liven up your senses. Plus, broth-based bean- and vegetable-laden soups do more than cure the cold-weather blues: They make a wonderfully filling addition to a meal. Here's a South Beach Diet version of a tasty classic soup. Makes 6 servings Description This southern Italian soup features white beans. Choose from great northern beans, cannellini beans, or any other white bean you happen to have on hand. Ingredients 1 1/2 pounds Swiss chard, escarole, or beet greens, trimmed 6 cups chicken broth 1 clove garlic, crushed 1 cup cooked white beans 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon ground white pepper Grated Parmesan cheese, for garnish Red pepper flakes, for garnish Instructions 1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil over medium-high heat. Add the greens and cook for 7 minutes, or until barely tender. Drain the greens, squeezing out as much water as possible. (This can be done several hours before the greens cook in the soup. It is not necessary to cut the greens, because they will break apart as they cook in the soup.) 2. Bring the broth to a simmer in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and greens. If using canned white beans, place them in a strainer and rinse them under cold running water to remove excess sodium. Add the beans to the broth. Simmer gently, partially covered, for 10 minutes. Sprinkle with the salt and pepper to taste. (Do not add the salt until the soup has finished cooking, or it may become too salty.) 3. Ladle the soup into heated bowls. Pass the cheese and pepper flakes at the table. Nutritional Information: 79 calories 2 g total fat (1 g sat) 0 mg cholesterol 12 g carbohydrate 6 g protein 4 g fiber

At wits end...please help me find a coping mechanism...

Rain Do you have any one you can call to come watch the girls while you go to the Y?? 14 raisins instead of a bag of chips is a great accomplishment... Be proud of that.. Put on a tape/dvd that they like and and then walk in place while they watch. Get on the floor and do some crunches - or put on some music and dance around the house I know on the days that I have to watch my little grandaughter and can't go to the gym - pisses me off - but then I think - this is my time with her and that's whats important.. I can always go the next day. Good Luck ... -

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
IndioGirl55 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Docsly - it the 50's is the new 30's then heck the 60's are the new 40's (OMG I LOVED MY 40'S) I would say that this site is the BEST - it is where i got all my info prior to being banded - this is a great place for support it's open 24/7 - and someone is always willing to help... -
Hey Karri was getting worried about you and the trip over the mountain - Glad you made it home safely, How are you feeling as far as your fill level right now... Can you eat??... You should be very proud of yourself - you have done so well - and you have over come a MAJOR issue about the sneaking food. You are doing the work and need to take the credit - be happy and accept this great success you have had to date - with your determination you will be to goal before your one year anniversary Truly we banders are only supposed to lose 50-70 % of our excess body weight in a 2 yr period I wonder why that is... I wonder why they don't challenge us to loss like 80 to 100% of our excess weight - even with bypass they don't expect 100% weight loss... I agree with you on the Insurance issue they should cover a nutritionist - weight is a big issue and a lot people out there don’t know how to eat correctly.. I bet if you were diabetic they would cover it.. You had my cracking up on the to many variables - I truly think it is flawed… On my weigh in day – I get on the scale the minute I get up then after using the bathroom – then again – I usually get on it about 3 or 4 times before I will accept a weight – 188.5 – 188 – 188.5 – 188. I will take the 188 - I wanted the new scale as it goes to the .2 – where my scale only goes .5 – so I wanted the 187.8 – instead of it going to 188. It’s all a mind game but you know what I am saying I want to see those extra numbers – but of course only if they are in my favor… Well, not much action tonight – its 6; 45 so I think I am going to go cook my fish and watch some TV. Kari – you don’t have to hide out – your food angels were really your fairy god mothers today... I agree with everything Karri said... Even skinny people pig out every now and then – these are the things we have to learn… We just can’t let it spiral into our old behavior… If I don’t get back – good night sweet dreams everyone

Becca I have seen the thread - but I don't know what it intails - I go to the gym and walk 3 miles on the treadmill 4 to 5 days a week.. It works for me I don't like exercising too much - but know that if i want to be able to eat & lose weight I gotta exercise. Welcome by the way
-
Ruby - I looked for that but didn't find anything - I am marking it up to an error on the new scale.. But will wait unitl I go to the doc's on Wed... I have read on the boards that Aunt Flo can make your band tighter. I'm with you on the protein shakes - what I do is add some red seed grapes - banana - rasperry and a thingie of yogurt ice and vanilla or unflavor powder and it comes out ok - - add alot of fruit it helps...
-
Kari - I Ok what was going on that made you want to eat ... That’s my 1st question – what was behind the urge to eat everything in sight – were , stressed – what were you feeling… I believe that sometime we do have to give in to our urges - but we need to limit them - Ok self - I really want ice cream - go out to ice cream store get a double scoop of your fav and eat it (don't buy half gallon cuz you will keep eating til it's all gone) - whatever you want - go out and have some or make a portion (normal) and sit down eat it - enjoy it - savor it - then say to yourself - OK I had it - I enjoyed it - I feel better - I am done.. We are NOT on a DIET we are just learning to eat healthy - and some days we aren't - it's what you do 98% of the time that is going to show your successes - not that 2% - Another suggestion is that you keep low calorie healthy snacks around for these times - I eat popcorn when I just want to eat - or I will just get the hell out of the house. Your penance is that I want you to ride your bike an extra 20 miles this week.. :wink2:

I need some encouragement
IndioGirl55 replied to WendyRae's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WendyRae IMHO you need to change your perception on losing weight - this is not a race this is a lifetime lifestyle change - Heck you were just banded 2 weeks ago – you may get on the scale every day for 5 days in a row and it will show nothing and then you get on the 6th day and 2 lbs are gone - I suggest that you only get on the scale once a week - period - the scales fluctuate too much on a daily heck even hourly basis - so pick one day a week and get on the scale that morning and only that morning - then put it away - some weeks you may only lose 1/2 lb - but you will notice your clothes are bagger or you will notice an improvement in your energy level I think you are going to have to work on your immediate gratification issues - as you should know it can take up to 2 yrs for bander to lose all their weight - This battle is mostly mental imho - the band will restrict how much you eat once you have proper restriction but right now you are healing - and most likely on mushies which can be higher in calories – are you getting all your Protein, Water etc Make good food choices - track your food intake and only get on your scale once a week – Work on your immediate gratification issues – cuz your weight loss is going to slow from what you lost the 1st week – You most likely are not going to continue to lose 14 lbs every 2 weeks – average is 1-2 lbs a week once you get proper restriction Relax – enjoy life – don’t rush it – it will come as long as you put in the work My best to you… -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
IndioGirl55 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For some losing slowly maybe the fact that you have a very slow metabolism like Denise (but heck she's about 10 lbs from goal - so she is doing great) or for others it can be what your are eating - you may be eating too many calories or not enough - also what about exercise. I find that keeping a food diary helps me account for what I put in my mouth - I track calories & protein grms only - you know we discount that bite of cheese and a little later those 2 crackers and then later maybe a couple hearshy kisses. All those bites here and there do add up. Exercise - is a big key in losing & maintaining your weight once you get to goal - If you exercise it's like $$$ in the bank - you gotta eat less or burn up 3500 calories to lose a pound - so if you eat less and burn more the weight will come off. This is not a race - I know that we all want the pounds gone now - not tomorrow or in 3 month but this very second - we feel this way cuz we are eating so much less than we did before and feel that this decrease in food in take should make the pounds magically disappear right now.. But the hard fact is that it's not going to happen like that for most of us older one. We have to work this one day at a time - this is a lifetime lifestyle change in our eating not a diet - cuz if this was a diet - the minute we go off of it - we will gain our weight back even with the band - We have to take the word diet out of our vocabulary - We need to replace it with healthy eating - low fat - low sugar... For today - good food choices - exercise.. -
Thanks Linda - I just have this mental pic of me working out hard - which is really funny to me, cuz I am such a lazy person - I do it but don't super enjoy it. - yes I do step up the pace for a couple songs - but nothing much. I have gotten on the elliptical once - but it seem to hurt my knees - so I stick to the treadmill - Truly I have been bad about my water and vitamins - so I am trying to get back in the groove with these 2 and see if that helps the problem - I have liquid Tylenol which takes care of the problem along with a little vicoden left over from surgery... Hey Chim - CONGRATULATION 44 LBS GONE... Can't wait to see your pic's – And Please come around more often – last night I was thinking about all the people who don’t post anymore –You - Sunny – Jeanine – Lynette – Marcy – Dini (well her and Marcy do stick their heads in every now and then) and I know I am missing a whole lot more but – I am old so please forgive me I a forgetting a lot of names but these are the ones that are coming to me this second. Jackie - I am so happy for you - I know about those 12 jean - they make you feel - hot - - Guys flirting with you - how cool is that - and hubby being caveman - gotta love it Kristin- Yes you can see the diff - My doc has you come back every 2 months except since I didn't get filled last month - I am going this month. I need a tad cuz I can guzzle water.. You will get to your sweet spot - just be patience - I know you are talking to the queen of impatience...
-
Kristin07 - isnt that a new pic avtar or whatever it's called... Looks pretty good :girl_hug: Steph I think that for most of us it's not all about the food or what we can or can't cheat with - but heck we do have a few months on the December gang but thinking back I don't think we ever did.. I lost my Dad & Stepmom 16 yrs ago a month apart - I do think what would my Dad say about the surgery - He never harped about my weight but did bring it up once or twice in a gentle way. I think he just would be happy that I am practicing good eating habits... He would be happy for me.. I was/am a Daddy's girl and heck I'm 52 - so I understand the hole in your heart.. Steph - sometimes we can't just ignore our issues about food as it relates to stress - frustrations etc - and in those times you just have to eat something make sure that you keep healthy snacks at hand so that you can soothe those feeling - Will power will not always be with you 100% of the time so when it does lag a little - have a 100 calorie snack pack - be it string cheese, sugar free fudgecicle- dannon lite & fit yogurt - a small piece of fruit - but sit down and enjoy/savor it dont just stuff it in your mouth never really tasting it. Don't just grap a bag of potato chips and stuff your face - in fact don't have any of the high calorie high fat sugary foods in the house at all.. I am not going to walk by a piece of choc cake over and over again and not pick at it until it's all gone - I am not that strong but I am strong enought to throw the blessed thing away - I am strong enought not to buy it... My pantry & fridge only hold sf items and low fat items to snack on - it doesn't hold anything that I can't say no to.. There are some chip ahoy cookies in there for my gs but I don't care for them so no temptation - it they were they would be in a zip lock bag in his bed room.. Also Its all about planning - to night when I made dinner - I cook some chicken & extra veggie to take to work for lunch for the next 2 days ... I am prepared for the week on what I will eat. Hopefully I get a little fill on Wed and I will be back on soup for a few days per my doc's orders. Also - due to the fact that Karri & I are the food cops/ANGELS of the group - either they have learned that they don't need the junk and just to throw it away or they don't tell us... or if they do have a treat - then we just exercise a bit more - Of some just fess up and take our loving reasoning as to why they shouldn't eaten something. I loved how you signed off tonite - 'I AM going to have a great week' - Good positive affirmation - Love It!!!! That the way to think..

I am going to go Oprah on you even thought Ma'am is a sign of respect - us 50 yrs olds don't think of ourselves as old (you know the new 30's) we think of women our MOTHERS AGE as Ma'am.... But you are welcome  -
:lol:lol:lol: No I wasn't joking and you are like me googling everything.. I wear it more and more often - I right now I have target brand spanks on - but I don't like the ones that goes to your thights cuz no matter what they say we you sit there is a little line where they end but its not bad. I think the lipo is a little stronger - I have some high waisted spanx tights that i wear too.. I have the lipo in a box that goes up to your bra and ends where normal panties do - I love it - I still have some back fat 1 1/2 roll compared to 3 full rolls and I HATE muffin tops so I were mine alot. Also they have one on tv that has straps - I might order that one too - the more i think about what i am wearing now "assets" it's made by spanx i went with smaller size - cuz i was 8 lbs from it and It's good - but i think i like my lipo in a box better - I think I can order a smaller size cus I wore this one i have at my highest - I hate back fat...
-
Linda - I do plan on cking the doc's before I take it back I don't get leg cramps but aching - and I just walk - no heavy workout - that make me laugh:lol:- I just walk on the treadmill - and havent even tried to run in the longest - cuz i can only do it for about 30 seconds - I really don't think I am over extending my muscles - it's not like i am bench pressing 300 lbs - I haven't even done weights lately -- just the treadmill - but thanks - for having this mental picture of me really working out.. I am glad you did better last nite - I just ck'd the t.v. and I see the patriots just won - That's so cool 18 n 0 - ya gotta give their props for such a great season.... Good luck on your Packers... Thanks you both ladies - THESE ARE EXACTLY MY THOUGHTS...:biggrin: OMG Phyl Look at the diff in your face - arms - boobs - tummy and thights you can really see the diff... You are LOOKING GREAT !!!!!! Happy Band Anniversay
-
Yes they do it's called lipo in a box - I wear one all the time
-
I first got on the old one (6 months) it said 186 - got on the new one 196.. It's digtal and can't be adjusted from what i could find... I would beleive the new one but if mine had jumped from 190 to 185 in one day - 10 lbs is just too big of a diff imho - to be accurate... I go to the doc onthe 23 i will see what his says I weight weekly on Thursday Morning and last thrus was 188

I have lost 62 lbs - Will be 53 at the end of the month - the whole skin issue isn't about how slow or fast you lose weight but your genes and how long it was streached out. My arms have little wings - my tummy isn't that bad but will most likely have a little ponch - my thighs look like they belong to a 80 yr old women - Well guess what - you can cover all these areas up with clothing and get ps is you desire and can afford - I will be doing something about my face once i get to goal - but wanted to do that even before wls - my face as a couple deeper wrinkles - the ballon has been deflated.. I am happy with the energy that I have now - is it worth the baggy skin HELL YES !!!!!!!!!!
