Go for it girl - I gained 5 lbs between my 1st consultation and my pre-op visit eat all the unhealty foods that you want this weekend - say good bye to your old friends that were killing you - say i loved you while it lasted now it's time for me to move on - tell them that once you get banded you might visit now and again - but that the relationship is OVER - your new lover is going to be healthy food - not all the junk - Enjoy.... I only had to be on pre-op for 8 days - so can't tell you about that Just follow your pre-op and leave it at that...

The almond milk sounds good - but not enough Protein for me I can eat both flour & corn tortillas - I have gotten stuck on corn that was only warmed over gas flame - but when fried no problem - flour I can do if i take small bites and eat slowly - had a burrito last nite for dinner.

Ok gang it's official that new scale I got is BROKEN (its going back) - IT'S WRONG mine is CORRECT !!! Just got back from the Dr's - I lost 6.5 from last month which is exactly what my scales say. He said he put in 1 cc - he tried 2 & then 1.5 but i was sliming on Water ... I don't keep track of this but said he pulled out 4.8 so I guess he put back 5.8 Kari I was reading an artical in a magazine while at the doctors about the need to eat - it was about searching for food - for our emonitional hunger... When we are craving love - and aren't getting it - we turn to food.. boredom stress etc - it talked about those times when you don't know what you want - but you want to eat - so you just keep on eating - I wanted to steal the magazine to quote all the good stuff that was in it. Ok well I gotta get to work will ck back later

How is weight loss for people over 50?
IndioGirl55 replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Welcome Arkie- 1955 was a good yr - I will be 53 at the end of the month. Bonnie You are normal about being excited & scared at the same time - I think we all were I exercise & eat about 1000-1200 calories a day - low fat mostly sugar free I keep a food diary log calories & protein grms - I follow a weight watcher eating plan - but follow band rules protein first. I weight myself only once a week - for me it's Thrusday mornings - I walk 3 - 16.5 minute miles a day - usually 4 to 5 times a week. Remembr the band is ony a tool - 75% of the work is up to you - making good food choices and exercising - the band will do the other 25% once you have proper restriction - they are going to band your tummy - not your brain - and the majority of our problems are in our brains and not our stomach. I love my band - I use to sleep my weekends away - now on Saturday mornings I am at the gym at 7:30 - then out and about - not sleeping - I feel 100% better than I did 6 months ago. We have a new main thread on the 50's board - I think it say We have an new spot - Post there as that's the thread most of us are on. Welcome and read read read - ask questions - We are here for you.. -
Peaches you are to kind....:wink2:

Teresa Gave you the wrong site - that's where I got vitimans here is the site for the clear protein WonderSlim Bariatric Diet Fruit Drinks: Bariatric Weight Loss Protein Drink supplements Looks like they have changed a few flavors - peach mango was good and grape too - they have pinapple - i bet that would be good and the cran/grape - the ones they sell at my doc - proti15 I can't find on the web... but the ones above are a close 2nd... Sorry for the delay in getting back to you... I missed your question,... -
Kari - omg are you ever going to get to eat again The First time I got filled and the doc asked if I had done crunches (it took him forever to find the soft spot in my port) I told him no - so ever since then I have been afraid to crunches - afriad my port would flip:ohmy: Kristin - Sorry about your port pain - I can't help on that one my doesn't hurt anymore. Soup sounds good - but it 1/4 of a cup for a serving 272 calories - 1 point = 50 calories (about) and for a non banded person 1/4 cup isn't very much =NEVER MIND 1/4 OF THE SOUP - read stupid Janet. NEVER MIND... Congratulations Jackie 78 lbs Told you the ellipcal (sp) was hard - and you are young - I have a glider which i love cuz no stress on your joints - just gotta pull it out of the garage and use it the days that i don't hit the gym - i thought that since i could so that I could do the other - but no way jose.... I watch people work out minimum 1/2 every day going fast on those machines (they are infront of the treadmills at the gym - and as I am jammng to my ipod i am people watching) Good luck on that thing - your are going to be one fit woman... Well off to bed - Sweet Dreams...

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
IndioGirl55 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Brenda Congrats on 24 lbs GONE Good Job... If I could only inspire 6 yr old gs You already had a 2nd fill - that's fast Ok i see you go every 2 weeks -My 2nd fill was my sweet spot - but it has loosen just a tad - go tomorrow and need just a tad - but I have lost about 6 lbs since the last time I went on 12/21 - So pray he will fill me... Good to hear from you... Keep us posted and just say Hi.. -
Oregonrose I understand completely - I'm 52 5'4 250 by the time I had my pre-op visit (gained 5 lbs from all my last meal mentallity) and have been fat most of my life - gain - lose - gain - lose you know the way it goes - I really should be striving for 145 to have a 25 bmi - but at my age - I think 160 will be fine - I will really know once i get there - The band is a great tool - it does help with portion control - but it's only that- you gotta do the rest - you have to eat healthy and exercise - I am not into fad diets - so I pretty much follow what I learned from all my yrs going to WW - But I do follow band rules - Protein 1st. As they saying goes that banded your tummy not your brain and truly that's where most of our problems lie - I will be full but still want to eat - we have alot of head hunger issues - it's far from easy - but easier than doing it all by yourself. This site is the best place for help & support.. Good Luck on your journey.
-
DON'T THINK - DO IT!!!! - I started going to the gym a couple weeks before I was banded... Once I got the ok from my Doc to start again - I have been going ever since - 6 months - I have never stayed going to the gym this long in my entire life:eek: - Great NSV... but really cuz i go - it is a scale victory:biggrin:

Your next question will be "how do i get a ticker" (we were all newbies at one time) http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f5/ticker-tutorial-pictures-41782/

Weight-loss surgery, band-specific, and general medical terms: PB: "productive burp" -- what happens when something eaten can't go down due to restriction has to come back up NSV: Non-scale victory -- a weight-loss achievement that has little to do with numbers WLS: Weight-loss surgery MO: Morbid Obesity (or morbidly obese) BMI: Body Mass Index GBP: Gastric bypass surgery RNY: Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery (the most popular type of bariatric surgery) DS: Duodenal switch (another type of bariatric surgery) BP: blood pressure PCP: Primary care physician GP: General practitioner NP: Nurse practitioner PA: Physician's assistant BC: Birth control (or BCP: birth-control pills) OTC: Over the counter (i.e., non-prescription medications) NSAIDS: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (a class of painkillers--which includes ibuprofen--bandsters should try to avoid because they can add to ulcer risk). AF: "Aunt Flo" -- menstrual period GERD: Gastro-esophageal reflux disease #/#/# in signatures: weight pre-surgery/current weight/goal weight And some general abbreviations used here and elsewhere on the web, not related to banding or weight loss: LBT: LapBandTalk.com -- this wonderful place on the web! OH: Obesityhelp.com -- another support site, with message forums BIL, SIL, ILs: Brother-in-law, sister-in-law, in-laws BTW: By the way DH: darling (or dear, or danged, or use your imagination) husband DW: darling... wife DD, DS: darling... daughter, son IMHO: In my humble opinion (and its cousin, IMNSHO: in my not so humble opinion) IIRC: If I recall correctly ISO: In search of LOL: laugh out loud OMG: Oh my God OT: Off-topic ROTFLMAO: Rolling on the floor laughing my a** off! TMI: Too much information WRT: With regard to WTF: What the f...? WTG: Way to go! YMMV: Your mileage may vary

Productive burp - it's something that happens when your food comes back up - it's not like throwing up more like burping up but can be more forceful than a burp but not gut wrenching like throwing up..

Kari Sometimes I think our bodies want the nutriants (sp) from the food Glad you are out of hiding:tongue: - We missed you.. Just got called to a meeting... later
