Karri - I had a bad PB on broccoli last night - it's really wasnt the broccolis fault but mine - cuz I kept eating it even though I was full phyically but not mentally. This is a continual battle for me -:glare: Steph - Love your new pic on your signature - Hope your Kids don't have RSV... I am lucky that my doc is 20 miles from me.. Ruby - That's how it was for me when I was too tight - I really could not stand it:mad2: - even now I am tight with just .02 added - If I take too big of a sip - it gives me a ping pong ball in my chest...

I have always said I wanted to eat my way across America - Clam Chowder Lobster - Crab - that's the stuff I would eat from your area :tongue2:.. Truely - I didn't have a hard time during the holidays - my office was loaded with junk - but like you I am still very determined and it was pretty easy to say no - I would just look at the calorie content - and said - Ah H*LL no 2 little pieces of candy - not worth 250 calories.. Besides being healthier - your goal for a dress for your Son's wedding will give you the strength you need to Just Say NO.. -

Shortgal - you must be on the east coast??? if you haven't had these foods My dad from NJ - Mom from TX - so I have a big variaty of foods in my Repertoire - I am a miss my fats the most - as I can get my sweet tooth satisfied with my sf stuff... I agree with Emeril - Fat Rules - -
Jackie - Hugs to you - just cuz you the scales aren't moving - you can't stop posting :tongue2:. You have been sick - aunt Flo and lack of exercise. These are all contributing factors. How is the being sick - are you well enough to get back on your elliptical?? Here are my suggestions - If you are feeling up to it get back to exercising - drink your water very important - even if you don't count calories write down what you are eating - being sick you may have been consuming more than you thought you were or even maybe not enough - you gotta vary them like every couple of day - lower your salt intake - don't get on the scale for 1 week - just take it one day at a time and concentrate on eating very healthy I know this next question is a TMI one - but how are you doing in the potty department (I ask this cuz I haven’t been doing well - about every 3 days) Like Ruby said you have lost 78 friggin pounds - That's the number you have to concentrate on right now - our weight loss is going to slow sometimes – Look at your before & after pic’s – they show the success that you have achieved… Don’t lose sight of that. Be proud of what you have accomplished so far in just a little over 6 months. This too shall pass – relax the stress is a big factor in our weight problems – so just chill – take it one day at a time and the scales will move again. Now, I want you all to tell me this when I hit my plateau – which should be hitting me soon – I know that this is easy for me to say – but I really feel that we have to think about where we where a year ago and where we are today – We are in such a better place – we are lighter – healthier and more confident. Peaches – Your Bday is the same as my DIL …. Ok - Good Morning Gang - How you all had a good night.. Remember how I tell you all that my legs ache at night - I think it may be lack of water. - I am not always good about getting my water in - and yesterday I made a point of it and last night my legs didn't wake me up hurting like the did the night before - but again I didn't exercise last night (Thurs is one of my allowed days off) - so today I will make an effort to drink my water and I will be exercising tonite - so I will let you know Sat morning if my little experiment works?? Ok Gang just my usual morning ck in - Today's challenge is to DRINK YOUR WATER - I will be tallying tonite...

A couple of pre-op questions......help please
IndioGirl55 replied to Grayorm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Grayorm We want everyone to be successfull and we want to let the newbies know that this isn't the easy way out - that it does take alot of hard work on your part to be successful - the band is only a tool ... When I first joined this was repeated to me over and over again - We don't want you to be dissappionted - de-motivated - we want you to succeed.. Good Luck on your journey... -
Phyl see I did remember something from that meeting:regular_smile::tt1:
-
Karri Here is one thing I learn at support group the other nite - after you have a stuck episode - eat ice chips... Just like you did after surgery... That is the one thing I got out of the support group - besides that pouch test site... I am glad to hear that you aren't going to kill anyone or yourself
-
I'm 53 now  but a hell and a lot healthier than I was when I turned 52

Shortgal - I love when your sense of humor comes out  Tonite when changing after work - I looked at my body - OMG - Ya anger - look what and the heck you have done - you have lost all this weight but still look fat cuz of all this skins. BTW - ya you can get fat on green beans - when you cook them with bacon and tatoes  I am so lucky my Doc didn't forbid coffee - I gotta have a cup or 2 in the morning to get me going - no caffine I would not be moving in the mornimg -
Hey Gang What's everyone doing tonite - I am trying to make plans for the weekend want to go out of town shopping - my 14's are falling off - i need a few things. Phyl - I thought the thingie was called one-bell but I google it too and couldn't find anything. - 5ft tall :tongue2: - you are too funny - you still are a short little thing.. Nothing wrong with being short - heck i have a gf who is 5,8 and wears 4 inch heals want to talk about feeling short - and people keep tell me i look shorter now that i have lost a few pounds - the say I am shrinking..:tt1: Steph - I am a BIG Qvc shopper and I don't live in the boonies  I have given away my Citiknits they were 2x and just look like sacks - I am getting into more form fitting clothes - Plus I don't know what size to order anymore - I ordered large demi & company bootcut pants and they are too big... I have never ordered a mediium - so once I really know what size i am - i might go back to ordering. Good thing to know about the throwing up - cuz that bug is here in the Desert too.. Becca - I was where you are a while back - but I said relax - you are onlyl 5 months out - but I totally understand - since you are only eating 1/16 of what you ate before - you think you should just wake up and it's all gone - hate to tell you - it aint gooing to happen :blushing: cuz i wake up every morning and as i get in the shower - I see all the fat that's still on my body - But it will come - we just gotta slow our minds down - I only weigh once a week... I hate the scales and how much they change on an hourly basis.. Peaches - Glad to hear you are on progarm and still have restriction - you I guess all these crossed fingers are helping  Car - Great to hear from you... Don't just lurk - join in - we've missed you.. Ok its 7:30 and need to cook so going to go start dinner - brb

I need support, but mom wont let me have it
IndioGirl55 replied to maddymoo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maddy - What are your medical issues to be overweight? If you have medical issues how is the band going to address these issues - Who is paying for this surgery - I take it you still live at home ... This is a hard one - you have been feeding yourself for a long time now - it's not your Mom's fault - My Mom always had me on a diet - I would sneek food - so how would that be my mom's fault - You are 19 - imho it's up to you who you want to tell and not tell - but like others have already told you - some people look at this as the easy way out - it's not cuz in order to be successfull - it you who is going to have to control the foods you eat after being banded - it's you who has to go out and exercise - I am lucky that my friends and co-workers see me eat lunch every day - I eat healthy they no I go to the gym every day - It's a totally personal choice - I really can't tell you want to do - it's all up to you - Maybe you need to sit and talk to your mom - tell her this isn't about her it's about you.. My best to you.. -

Bonnie I am so glad to here you are on the mend.. Thats Great!!! Welcome to Bandland. Protein drinks - I add yogurt and fruit - bananas are great in covering up the taste - - I blend mine in the blender with ice to make a shake - I had choc unjury & unflavored powder - You can add Peanut Butter. I think on the food thread there might be some idea there. Angry - Never being able to eat your fav food again - Yes you will - you just won't be doing it everyday and you won't be eating tons of it - I think i mourned my loss of food prior to being banded not after - but it's a natural reaction - heck we have all been using food for so long to comfort us to soothe our feelings to insulate us from the world. The band is the tool that helps you be "normal" about your portion sizes. On my bday - i was so tight I couldn't eat so I made one of my fav dishes - white cream gravy over mashed potatoes - well besides being too tight to eat it - it really didn't taste as good as it use to - My taste have changed I love my heathly meals - they are more satisfingy - Sugar - well - I gotta say I can miss it at times - but my sf stuff takes care of it mostly and every now and then I will allow myself a treat. So don't worry - you will eat again and but you will learn to control what you eat with the help of your band. Congrats on exercising - imho that is key to your weight loss - you know the old adage - less calories in - more calories out = loss We are all here to support you - if you need a buddy - I will one  -

Carol - Congratulations on 17lbs you are doing GREAT.... The energy will come - give it time - think positivly - When you first wake up in the morning tell yourself - Oh I feel strong today (as you drink your coffee to wake up:w00t: Yes - Our Lucky #7 is a GREAT group and we leave the door open - anyone can join us - we have people from Aug & Dec who post with us. It's all about the support and sharing - ranting and raving about jobs - dh's etc but not at each other :tt1: - but we do have 2 food angels  My GS is really my child that's how I feel in my heart - I have felt that way from the Day he was born he was with me for the 1st 4 yrs of his life then I got him back when he was 11 - If fact my son would get pissed if he hurt his self and he would come crying to me and not him... He gave me a lovely Birthday card that was for a MOM not Grandma - Alot of his motivation for school was a Car :blushing: but whatever works  Thanks as ususal for your kind kind words... xoxox Janet -

Kat - You gotta ck with your doctor - each one is totally different and we can't tell you what to do - only he can - but fyi I did call my doc and asked the same thing - call yours and see what he says.. Good luck and welcome LBT.. -

Becca you are doing great 61 lbs gone - you can't beat that :blushing:- i am so afarid of that platue (sp) - cuz so far I have always lost something even if it's just 1/2 lb in a week.. So I know it's around the corner How many calories are you eating - what did you get them up and how often/long At the support group I went to on Tuesday they gave us a site Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test It's basicly for bypass but I think the leader said it helped with Platues too.. IndioGirl55 replied to Grayorm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very well said Twilght  I truly feel regardless of percentages that the real work in losing weight even with the band is mental - the band our interior motivator... -
GF 37 lbs in a month - you are doing great This is not a diet but a lifetime lifestyle change You can eat with the band not everyone gets a fill immediately. There are people in my Doc's office who 6 months out haven't had a fill - just with the band in place they have enought restriction - Restrictions isn't about not about not eating at all - but eating far less than you did before. Between the 2 restriction & eating healthy and exercise the weight will come off...
-
I would do it again in a heart beat - I feel 10 yrs younger...
-
If you are losing you imho you aren't eating too much ... I was able to eat between 1 to 2 cups depending on what I was eating...
-
Ok baby girl I don't want to have to come and bail you out of jail - and for murder - I don't think I have enought $$$$ even if they did give you bail. And I get to meet you first - so you can't die - it's not allowed... Hugs for that kind of work - I just couldn't do it - well maybe when I was your age - but I look at it I have put in my due and I really don't want to work that hard anymore - I worked hard - but not those kind of hours ...

Di - there is a food thread where they have tons of receipts on the main board - I ate mashed potatoes (instant made with 100% skim milk) low fat refired beans (good for protien)- I eat fish 99% of the time I made dover sole and just mushed it up with a fork it was like baby food - spag sauce with ricotta cheese - eggs (omelletts wth cheese) - oatmeal - I bought deviled Ham & chicken but it's still in the cupboard - I ate lowfat creamed spinanch - zuchinned cooked to death - yellow grits with a spagh sauce on top & little cheese - I tried blending beef and didn't care for the taste - made chili colorado for gs and tried to blend it - and put it over mashed tatoes - didn't care for the taste but it was protein and I love potatoes.... Congrats on mushies they are heaven... -
Thanks for the validation Ruby !!!! (I knew my girls would have my back:thumbup:) They aren't banded yet and so they don't really know and you know how I am - I don't want anyone to rely on the solely for their weight loss - I want us all to succeed. Not fail and with that kind of thinkig imho you are doomed for failure...

[quote name='Twilight;715557 ]Good morning all. What a busy morning. Woke up to my little boy throwing up. Janet--Sometimes people need to hear the cold hard truth. For many' date=' hinting at it or sugar coating it isn't good enough. If you said it, she must have needed to hear it...otherwise something (I believe, God) would have curbed your tongue and softened the blow. I'm sure your, what you consider an, outburst was exactly what was called for. My team doesn't think much of chatting with others online about this journey, but I think it's a great educational tool. I think there are too many gullible people out there that take everything they read as gospel. I take it all with a grain of salt. Like our bands, it's only a TOOL and we have to do the actual WORK. Anyways....never pull punches when it's something important. .[/quote'] Steph - I forgot earlier - Are you a QVC girl??? Your outfit in you pic looks like one I almost ordered a while ago Yep there is a flu bug going around my GD & DIL both had it - I sure don't want it - first one end then the other - and we aren't suppose to throw up, becareful that you don't pick it up too. I agree with you on things needing to be said - I think i pissed someone off on another thread - stating 75% of the work is up to you - they say that the band will do 75% of the work - I told them that it's more mental than phyiscal the work that needs to be done to really commit to this lifetime lifestyle change.... What do you all think??
