    Still don't know what to eat,after 6mths!!

    Well have you ck'd out the recipets section - that people have posted - have you got a healthy living cookbook that gives you low fat - healthy food choices - Plan a menu for the week - including your Breakfast lunch and dinners - Last night I cooked my lunch for the week (I call it my one pot wonder - ground turkey - cabbage - spices - onions - bell peppers - a little rice) - put it in containers now all I have to do is grab it on my way out the door in the mornings I plan 99% of the time - I eat oatmeal - yogurt/granola - or hard boiled eggs for BF or have had 1/2 sandwich made on lite bread - dinner i usually eat the same thing every night = baked fish - veggies and 1/4 c rice. You just have to sit down and plan - go to the store and buy what you have planed and you will be all set for the week - alot of people take WW frozen meals or Lean Cuisines for lunch and some eat them for dinner - and there are people who eat what they fix for their families but just smaller portions. It's up to you how much work you wanta do..,

Are you going to the gym - since you got to work so early??? I am going I haven't been since last Wed - but cleaned house of Friday - Saturday shoe shopping and walking at the fair - Sunday more shopping - you know trying on clothes is classified as exercise - especially when you take 10 thing in at a time if not more

    just waiting and wondering

    Trudy Am I happy - 1000 times yes!!! I feel 10 yrs younger - I weigh 75 lbs less than 7 months ago. I can shop in regular stores - bye bye Plus Size shopping. I will have a soda every now and then - my doc does not forbid them - I just let them get flat and sip slowing - the carbonation doesn't go down well - but I have never been a big soda drinker anyway. What are the complications of being obese??? Being obese is going to kill you Yep you are giving up your old ways of eating and that can be sad - but eating is killing you - New Lifetime Lifestyle eating habits & exercise is going to let you have a longer - healthier and more productive life - the band is the tool to help you acheive these goals - it's not the cure to our food issues but an excellent tool to control your portion size.     Hey Party Girl Jackie:lol::smile2: You gotta enjoy yourself once in a while - I don't drink often either but do on occassion - Thank God I haven't had a hangover that lasted til 7 p.m. and am lucky I don't get sick to my tummy - I just want to eat - and the problem is with the band you can't eat too much or guzzle your water - Those 3 lbs will be off in a day or 2 it's mostly water.. Well, Good Morning Gang !!! It's Monday - back to work and the gym - hope you are doing fine this morning - Not much to post about - watched the Oscars - the only show I saw was Old Men with No Country - OMG the violence - It was good as far as a plup fiction type move goes. Well off to my desk - gotta pay for all my shopping Will ck back later...

    Don't know what is happening

    Jaymie Sorry you are having a hard time... Even when you are at your sweet spot it's not going to cut your cravings - I know alot of people say they aren't hungry when they have good restriction - I still am - especially if I am sitting at home doing nothing - Here is a suggestion - plan your menu for the day or week or even just a couple of days - make them healthy meals - meat veggies and just a little carbs/starches - I follow a ww type eating plan as I can't go without my starches with dinner especially... I feel that if you totally deprive yourself it makes you want it all that much more - right now I just made lunch for the week 1/2 lbs lean hamburger - onion - zuxhinne - eggplant - 1/3 cup rice - cabbage - Watkins Canjun seasoning - my one pot wonder - it will be my lunch all week - I have my protein - veggies & starch - Also, this is a lifetime lifestyle change in your eating - they banded your tummy and not your head - most of our problems lie in our head - when you want to eat and know that you just ate an hour ago - get up and do something - get on the computer and come here - clean your bathroom - clean out your closet - go for a walk - just do something other than eat. You have to find something that works for you - you gotta work your brain - just cuz you can eat doesn't mean you should - you have to make the commitment to yourself to make the changes needed - Only you can make you lose weight not just the band - it's only the tool to help you - but the real work is up to you... You can do it ... Don't wait for tomorrow to do better - start doing better right now. You can do it...

Guess how I justify all this shopping - I am execising by trying on all these clothes and walking.. Heck in my mind it's a whole lot better than sitting on my butt in front of the TV or computer. I am burning calories - plus when I am shopping I am not hungry or eating :eek: Well back to the Oscars.... Will ck back in a few..

    Welcome Jacque - there is a thread on the main page - FAQ where they explaind all the terms -DH dear or damn hubby depending on your mood DW is wife DIL daughter in law etc... Productive burp - this is where a food gets stuck and it comes back up in a burp sort of like throwing up but without the stomach acid and you usually slime (your body produces saliva to try and help the food pass down pass the band - sometimes is works and sometimes it doesn't you will have the slime as we call it come up into your mouth sometimes you have so much you have to spit it out - then a PB will follow - see the thread I mentioned above it gives a better explaination...

I am proud of you girl:thumbup: - Hey SSdown - Welcome :biggrin2: I am 53 yrs young too :tongue:and feel 43 yr with most of my weight gone - This is a great group - we do have issues that the younger ones don't - most of us have lost it gained it lost it gained it - you know the drill - IMHO the band is a great tool...     Hey Gang Well I got dressed to go to the grocery store - then thought - you need some hope in a tube (I am a phylosiphy girl too) so drove to Macy's - well why you are here let's ck out the clothes - Well $200 later I am home :eek: never made it to food shopping - use to be food shopping all the time now it's clothes :thumbdown:- got a pair of white jeans size 10 - one top size medium - (must be oversized) a pair of peite 12 jeans -a dress and another top. Now I want someone to expain - I wear a large to xl on top - 10 or 12 on the bottom - tried on one dress size 14 too tight tried on another size 16 too tight -at JCPennys got one size 14.. What is it with dresses:confused:... Linda - Yes Normal clothing How's your tummy today - are you still on liquids or have you moved to mushies?? Linda & Mango - Haven't had a pap or mamo in years - OMG me neither prior to surgery - but my doc made me have all those test and a colonoscopy too before he would operate. Mamo & Pap's done by ladies so not too bad. Linda - Why would you have to get completely naked for just your boob's I would be a tad embarssed too - but figure they see this stuff all the time and just think how good they are going to look when they are done.. Yes, Lynette where are you - Marcy - Dini - CeCe - Car - Chim - Car54 where are you.... Well, gotta ck the fridge so I can see what I am fixing for dinner since I never made it to the store - thank God for microwaves... Will ck back later...

    question about pain

    AZchick Not following your doctors orders is VERY BAD.. You must follow them to a T - the reason they are there is to advoid proplems with your band ie slippage - you are healing and they don't want to eat food for a while - we all suffer from this - but you MUST follow your doctors order. Even with the band you are going to have times you are hungry - real and head and it does take awhile to know the difference. I am not a doctor so I can't diganose you online - but I did have shoulder pain (which is gas) when I ate - take gas x strips and walk - and yes the gas/burping is related to your eating - back pain - never had it so can't comment - Please follow your doctors eating instructions we all have to follow the rules if we are to be successful with our bands - Good Luck..

    I have BC CA - Call the # on your card to see if you have the coverage - your copays will be detrimind by what plan you have - My doc took care of all insurance matters - I was morbity obese - all I needed was shrink consul to get approved (but had tons of preop test due to age and never going to the doctor) - met w/surgeon on 5/31 - shrink visit 6/10 - approved on 6/21.     Lack of support help

    Shadow08 1st of all you don't have to convince her at all - this is your decision not her's - Great that she has lost her weight but as you say she has some illness that causes her pain when she eat. The band is not the magic cure to your food issues - it is only a tool - the band does not make you lose weight all by it's self - only you can do that by making heatlhy food choices and adding exercise into your life. For some reason ppl think that if you are banded you don't have to do any of the work - the majority of the weight loss acheived with the band is by changing your eating habits - low fat - sugar free - protein 1st - veggies and starches if any room left. The band helps you control your portions but not what you put in your mouth - you can eat around the band - candy, milkshakes - cookies - chips all are easily eaten - Meat, Veggie, Starches all are not as easy - the band does not address our mentally and emotional issues with food - only we can do this - This is a lifetime lifesytle change not a diet - diets don't work - that being said you have to change your eating and so you do have to work at that - as stated above. Back to convincing her this is your life - your decision not hers - This board is the best place for support if that's what you need - plus your doctors office should have some local support groups too. But this place is open 24/7 and if you are lucky like I have been - you will meet ppl here would will become your friends for a lifetime. Good Luck on your journey...

    Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

    Nance - I can have 3 meals - plus 2 healthy snacks - here is typical day BF - Yogurt & 1/4 cup granola 6 pt grms - Snack -1/3 South Beach PT bar 6 grms - Lunch 3 oz of fish or meat & veggies - 21 grms of pt - Dinner 4 oz fish 28 grms pt - 1/4 c rice & 1/4 to 1/2 c veggies - Snack Yogurt or pudding anywhere between 5 or 3 grms pt - and sometimes a clear protein drink which i get from my doc that has 15 grms pt. = 60 + grams a day you have 7 grms of protein per 1 oz of meat - I sometimes have eatbeaters (southwest style) with a 1 oz of ham and 1/3 cup of cheese & onion & bell peppers (12 grms pt)- or weight control oatmeal has 7 grms of pt - I love the south beach protein bars 210 calories & 19 grams of pt - they are great like dessert - depending on my hunger and what I have eating during the day (weekends I usually don't eat 3 meals if i am out and about so I will have a sb prt bar to get my pt.. You gotta read labels - I count only protein & calories and I keep a food/exercise diary - I walk 3.5 miles on the treadmill 3 - 4 or 5 days a week depending on my schedule - I eat out about once every 2 weeks and sometimes once a week.. Denise - I AM SO PROUD OF YOU NO BROWNIES WAY TO GO... Yes I know about ppl wanting the band but can't say no to food - heck she had open heart surgery and still eating junk . I have a gf who has 30 lbs to lose - went to mexico got banded - but they drink... So we will see how she does.. You will lose those last 10 lbs just like I am going to lose my last 15 - just wanted to motivate you to think postivilty:rolleyes: - and saying no to those brownies is just proof that you will get there :biggrin2: Bombero - I have always eaten more than 1/4 to 1/2 cup - I eat about a cup for breakfast - 1 to 1/2 for lunch and dinner - I doubt that your band has slipped - you should be getting a fill at about 6 weeks out - Prior to my fill i could eat 2 cups of food - but that extra cup usually was just veggies - I am a WW girl - so if I am hungry I try to fill up on veggies not the bad stuff. Hi Wen & Welcome Yep both phyl & denise are from up your way - phyl is here in the desert with me right now as she & her DH are snowbirds as we like to call them (that's a nice word for all the people who come to the desert and cause all the traffic problems for us who live here full time and try to get to work or home or shop - Phyl you know this is with love and I am teasing you:lol:) As to getting stuck and pbing - usually happens if i eat too fast - don't chew or take one too many bites. Jeri - Welcome to you too - Yep my doc say there are people who 6 months out still don't have a fill - I have had 3 and the last one had to have most taken out cuz I was too tight.. I think I am at my sweet spot - am schedule to go back end of March - but doubt I will need a fill.

    OMG you guys have been busy yesterday and today - Let's see what I can remember.. Ruby - CONGRATS ON 2/3 TO GOAL Rash yes is a reason for TT to be covered by insurance - have doc document it - I have a little flap - but my tummy never hung down to far- I could use a TT - cuz even with 15 lbs to go I don't think it's going to go away - but I rather use the $$$ on my face - tummy covered by clothes face isn't.. I think you will find that shopping in the normal section is funner (yes that is a word:biggrin:) than shopping in the BBW sections. But it can be daunting cuz we have a whole new world at our finger tips - when I first ventured into the regular sections - I was lost - I knew the BBW (big beautiful women) sections in every store and I only had a slect few - now I have the whole mall. Once I get to goal - I am going shopping on El Paseo - it's the Rodeo Dr of the Desert - (I think you all know about Rodeo Dr in Beverly Hills) it has a Black & White store - Coldwater Creek - J Jills - Bannana Republic - Chico's - that is going to be my reward for goal weight... Beth - I am glad you lurk - but tell us your stories too - we are all in this boat together and each of us have diff stories even though they are basically the same - we learn so much from each other cuz we each have a diff way of expressing ourselves.. Peaches - Glad to hear your Mom is doing better - and I understand the stress involved - I have been told not to eat before a fill - - Ok my DD food cop has already gotten after you about your choices - I will just put in my amen..:laugh: as yesterday - wasn’t my healthiest day - I went to breakfast yesterday - 2 eggs - couple bites of tatos - and couple bites of beans (mexican breakfast) Then went to the Fair - 1/2 piece of small roasted corn on the cob - 1/2 of egg roll - dinner 1/2 piece of chicken & some beans - I did get a cinnamon roll at the fair to bring home - ate less than 1/4 of it and threw the rest away - calories yesterday 900 - and got tightness after eating my fair foods and 1/4 of roll Our fair isn't that big - and it's all about eating the diff foods - but I can't eat anymore - I got tight on all my foods except breakfast - I understand why some ppl don't get filled or even unfilled for vacations - I wouldn't -but I understand the mental part of missing foods cuz I do still miss eating and get frustrated that I can't or that I get stuck after 1 or 2 bites.. Linda - Glad to hear you are feeling better - that's good news.. Food Demons - totally understand as you can see by post above :w00t: - this is going to be a life time battle for us on some days - especially since you havent been able to eat.. Karri - Yes my GF was very proud of me - and noticed how slowly I ate and how I didn't clean my plate. :laugh: Congrats on new stuff for the apt - I love when I get great deals like that.... CONGRATS ON BEING IN THE 160'S :thumbup:(that;s my goal) Steph & Karri - as to loving our thread - it is such a better place with the 2 of you and to any others who want to join - you can see that our thread has had like 100,000 people stopping by to read what we say - so we must be doing something right I would say. Some of us do toot our own horns (I do ) but it's not bragging or trying to put others down - like I think some do - I dom't feel that this is a competition - but that we want to share our successes and give encouragment to others who are struggling - I feel that we have to be honesty about our feelings - we are all fat chick - we all have the same demons in diff way - but we all have the same thing in common - we over eat to soothe our feelings about whatever - stress - boredom - happiness etc. We are all learning to control our head issues - and that as I have said a million times before is our biggest obstacle .     I'm about 60 miles from Riverside - not to far - Phyl is here in the Desert too (until April I think) we could meet there at the Tyler Mall - or we could meet in Beaumont/Banning area - about in the middle - but are you going to have time for us - when you haven't seen your DH in a while :thumbup::biggrin: don't you have more important business to take care of :redface: But ya I would love to meet.. Well I don't like english either - wtf is the use of diagram a sentence - useless - as long at it sound ok that all that matters - heck I cant type I am always droping words - spelling terrible (it use to be better but just like speed dial - you don't learn #'s anymore - spell ck makes you be lazy too)

(and I hope you ate more that 11 calories today - hope that was suppose to be 1100 ) and your doc didn't give you any kind of eating plan?? We are no longer dieting - what happens when you diet - you get to your goal or it gets too hard - so you quit and go back to eating "Normal" which is what got you fat in the 1st place. We are eating healthy - we are now eating correct portion sizes - this is a lifetime lifestyle change in your eating habits this is not a diet - diets don't work (I know I am plagiarizing WW don't tell Hilary ) Since you are so athletic (are you suppose to be exercising so hard with the knee repair just 6 weeks ago - my xdh had that and he was off his knee for a long time if my memory serves me correctly - but you know 50+ who knows) then you understand calories in calories out - food is for energy not to comfort our emotions. 60 grms of protein daily (minimum) 64 oz of water - veggies & low fat - low sugar - and you can eat starches to with in reason. Exercise - I no longer HATE it - can't say I love it - but I know I can't live without it .. Necessary evil I guess :thumbup: We are all here for you Bonnie - this is the best place for support and info.. Well, my dinner is calling = fish 4 oz 28grm pt 150 cal - green beans 25 c - 1/3 c rice 120 c - Will ck back later

I have fine straight hair - and I have the cut that georgia girl posted - people think i have tons of hair - the why it's cut in the back makes it look so full - I love it and it's easy Alot of people lose hair after surgery - I was lucky and didn't - but it does grow back from what I have read -

    Thanks Denise Last week I didn't lose anythng - (i only weigh in on Thursdays) and figured I had hit my 1st plateau. So I just increased my exercise (walked 18 miles from 2/17 to 2/21). I have pretty good restriction- infact I don't want to be any tighter than I am right now - cuz i still have to drink slowy - hunger is still there for me when I am at home and work too - the only time I'm not hungry is when I am out and about doing stuff (shoppin:biggrin:) I got fat on eating too much food (home cooking not fast foods) and being a total slug bug/couch potato - don't get me wrong I love sweets too - brownies & reese Peanut Butter cups anything choc w/nuts.. But really didn't eat them daily - would maybe every 3 months eat a bag of candy or box of brownies or at xmas - half of the Cookies I made.. Plus I ate alot of fried foods - now - I eat 1/2 of a baked fish fillet - instead of 5 whole fried fillettes..:thumbup: or 1 piece of pizza instead of 4 or 5 - taco could eat 6 in one night with tons of cheese.. Now just 3 or 4 oz of meat/fish - 1/2 cup rice and veggies - with can't believe it's not butter spary - I dont' eat half the amount of fat that I use too.. and I am exercising (well flaked out tonite but did clean instead) My worst time is at night too - we are home alone - get bored need to fill time and want to eat, we are giving ourselves comfort plus we have no one watching us we can eat what we what and however much we want ... No accountablity - As you know if you had a boyfriend over one evening you wouldn't go and eat 2 s/f fudgecicles - heck you wouldn't eat at all:biggrin:. I used food to medicate myself to sleep - now if I want to take a nap on a weekend - I can't (well most of the time). I feel 1 million times better - and my way of succeeding is just not to buy the junk - lucky that my grandson who lives with me like foods that I don't care for - chip ahola cookie - don't care for them - hot cheeto so what - now if they were puff cheeto - watch out the bag would be gone.. I am just very lucky that my motabolism isn't totally screwed up - I just know that for the rest of my life I will have to exercise and keep control of my food intake Yesterday was in a meeting they had Mrs Fields cookies - I was hungry and wanted one - but figured why start - you are in a size 12 pant with some 10's - if you start eating cookies you will be back in an 18. Infact a gf in the meeting who is always on a diet and never losing ate some - and I just thought to myself - and she wonders why she's not loosing weight - heck the girl next to me ate 3 and we are talking big cookies.. Maybe when I get to goal and can maintain my weight - I might have one - but with me that one turns to 2 - 3 etc you know the story. Ok - so do you want a challenge??? A friendly wager to motivate you - you have 10 and I have 15 - what do you want to wager who gets there first. a $20 gift card ??? Disclaimer for NEWBIE - Denise & I know each other and I am just suggesting this as a way to motivate her (not to eat her sweets) and am in no way suggesting that our weight loss with each other is a race - cuz it's not - this is just a freindly wager. And for you newbies - Denise has a super slow metabolism - she does eat right and does exercise but her weight loss has been on the slow side -but she is staying course and working hard... ok I wrote a book here - so let me know:tongue2:

    Pun intended I hope - Congrats on your comming graduation - Another educator in our group - must be something about Teachers & Insurance people being overweight The first time I went to an Insurance Women Convenition - there were tons of fat chicks - I didn't feel out of place - it was the skinny ones who where out of place - and it seems like we have a lot of teachers just in #7 and on this whole board - stress = eating = fat.. Math 1+1 = 2 - that's about the extend of my math - in 6th grade my gs had algebra - told the teacher - there was no way I could help with home work - when they tried to teach me that Z+A=Y - I said why do I have to learn this I am never going to use it being a legal secertary (that's what I wanted to be when I was in high school) so I flunked out and got put in general math. Me - Insurance = Senior Account Manager & License Agent Property & Causalty I work Commercial Lines which is Business Insurance - Contractors - Country Clubs larger type accounts & business...

    Denise - Sorry about your Dad !!! (hugs) I lost mine 16 yrs ago this june. I think it's about a 4 or 5 hour drive one way from here to Phoenix and it's a long drive cuz you cross nothing but desert - boring - when I go to my sisters in modesto - I take the 99 cuz you go thru towns - whereas on the 5 it just nothing but flat farm land - no towns etc -

    Fish?

    KYteacher How are you preparing and what kind are you eating I eat fish almost every night - I eat catfish, talipa and salmon baked with a little olive oil & garlic (350 for 15 minutes)- I have had no problems - but I can eat almost anything including bread as long as i eat slowy - small bites and chew and I do have restriction.. Have you tried tuna salad with lite or n/f mayo??? - Fillett of Sole is quite soft too - and back in the day when we had to eat fish every friday - my mom fixed it almost every week - but coated with corn meal & fried with an almondine butter sauce - I will still coat my fish with corn meal - spray with pam and bake - so may just have to get some sole this weekend...
