getting ready and looking for advice
IndioGirl55 replied to littlesweet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I met with my doc 5/31 had tons of test to do for surgery and had surgery on 7/17 (could have been on the 10th but I still had 2 test to do) I think it all depends on what test you have and how they can be scheduled and what your docs schedule is -
Karri We all totally understand - not being able to get to LBT... It's the 1st thing I do in the morning when I come to work and on the weekends and the last thing I do at night :tt1: Right now it's 70 and no winds... But I am stuck in the office... You know there really isn't any food I can't eat - I havent' tried a sandwich on sour dough or french roll - but that's just cuz i would fill up too fast just on the bread - but I can eat anything so far... I got into Trace while watching the Apprentince - He seems like a really nice person.. My sis likes Toby Keith - I just don't listen to Country music - except today I googled Trace and listend to his other songs' - I really liked the one he sang on the show "you're gonna miss this" I have only been to Laughlin twice - once on a turn around back in the 80's and then my nephew fought in some tough man competition. It's a 3 hr drive thru the ugly desert :crying: but my gf Candy (Peaches she is a Candace - you spell yours with an I :tt1:) will have me cracking up the whole way. We are the kind of friends that you have once in a life time - we finish each other sentences - know what we are going to say before it's said - and she has such a great sense of humor - I am always laughing with her. We use to be eating buddy's - well we still are - it's just I can't eat too much :huh2: she is overweight but tall and I don't really see it - just like she didn't see my weight - when you love someone - the weight isn't what you see it's the person.. I am just looking forward to having some grown up fun - I am still a Mom and being single limits where I go - so I am really looking forward to this - but i can tell you one thing - i probably wouldn't be making these plans 80 lbs ago - didn't have the energy - but now I feel so good about myself - I am no longer ashamed about my clothed body  Well back to work - ck back later...

No asprin -no NASID - only tylenol..... -
Oh ya - I agree 100% - I really can't beleive this whole weight loss thing -I think I am going to wake up and it's all a dream I am also very afarid of maintence - but what I am going to do is weigh in weekly just like i do now - but I will not ever let myself gain 5 lbs - without losing them immediately You know the rote - 5 lbs up one week - oh no biggie my clothes still fit then 2 months later another 5 - brush those off too and before you know it you are back up there again - so I have a 5 lbs rule (which will be the MAX amount) I am with you - if I had to have my band removed I would do the sleeve too. I know WASA is/was considering it at one time cuz of her band & tummy and some spasma. I haven't talked with her in a while - Did she ever get her TT??

Celebrate who you are and the strong confident women that you have become :biggrin2:HAPPY BIRTHDAY - ENJOY THE DAY :biggrin2: _________________________________________________________ Karri - I am going to have to make that berry/granola mix - sounds delish.. This will be my lunch for the week Dinner was baked catfish & cooked carrots __________________________________________ Kristin - Happy Monday Payday  ------------------------------------------------------- Linda - Yep to be 36 again  I hear ya girl on that one. _______________________________________ Good Morning Gang The start of another week - Just cking in - the wind is still blowing here - so where Phyl is it must be pretty awful - so don't know if she will be leaving on the 1st Well, not much to report so far - the day has just begun - Well will ck back later !!!!

Karri I have been fat most of my life too - I lost my baby fat between 8th grade & my freshman year - we ate tons of junk that summer but we walked alot too - by the time i started high school i was 140 (165 in 8th grade) and by my soph yr i was 130 when I got pg - then back to 165 then went down to 115 - 120 and stayed that way until about 24 -25 in 79 when you were born :tt1:- I was weighing 182 - and have been up and down ever since (Mostly up) I had gotten back into the 180 a few times but never for long. Our skin has a lot to do with our dna - I have had saggy boob since my son - not as bad as they are now - be even then when i bent over they looked like cucumbers:eek:. IMHO you still have a few yrs for retirement - so If I were you I would get the stuff fixed now!!! Heck you DF loved you fat - he still loves you now - he doesn't see the fat or saggy skin he sees you and the wonderfull person that you are. I know that's hard for you to beleive - but it's true he was with you when you weight 250 - so what's a little skin.. They to make nigthies with built in bras now a days - and there is always the light switch:rolleyes2: - I guess I don't have that problem - no man in my life - but if there were I doubt we would be doing it with the lights on - :cursing: and I would probably be more aware of the issues than I am now...
-
Yep we do have matching arms - and you look whiter than me - even with your latin blood :tt1: - and yes Linda - freckle - I have them on my arms back chest - I was never a big tanner as a kid - but as a child we vacationed at the beach every summer - and those were the pre-sun block day :cursing: The granola furit and cream cheese sound delious - how did you make it just mix it all together - oh that sounds so good - I am hungry - all I have had was that ice cream cone. I made some spag squash - is it suppose to be a little crunchy - I cooked it per the direction 45 mins 350 in a little water - then turn it over and cook until tender - well is scoops out just fine with a fork - but its a tad crunchy - - I think I need to go put my fish on.. Jackie - here in the desert it's hard to find longer sleeve during the spring and summer and it gets so hot that you really don't even want to look at 3/4 lenght sleeve they just look hot.. Ok I will be back - I am going to put my fish in the oven.... But I want the receipt for the cream cheese fruit granola thingie...

Homemade broth taste the best - easy to make - chicken - onion - celery - garlic - carrots salt pepper - boil til done strain - and you have good broth for clear phase and then when you can have regular Soup - you can then puree the left overs (that you froze) and add back into the broth - yummy- -

Denise No she didn't have to pay - the doc took care of it all ... 2 more weeks til you are a grandma - how's the daughter - ready for the baby to come - I was 130 when I got pg and 165 when I delivered (omw the doc was mad at me for all the weight I gained) I know you will be letting us know when the day comes :cursing: -
Tai Welcome to LBT - it is the greatest site for info & support. We are the same height but I think my bmi was like 42 and I had some co-mobities - it all depends on your insurance. I love my band - I love me for finally understanding that my prior way of eating wasn't normal - The band is a great tool - but that's all it is - you are going to have to learn to make a lifetime lifestyle changes in your eating - we still absorb our calories where bypass pple don't - so for us we really have to learn to eat healthy - we don't get sick if we eat sugar and it slides right thru our bands (easy to eat even when you have restriction) where as hard proteins like meat - fish - chicken don't slip thru - you feel full alot faster with the band - but that's once you have proper restriction - Read - Read - Read all the thread here - you will gain tons of knowledge. Good Luck on your journey

Swimming post banding
IndioGirl55 replied to smgallop's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks - Yes I have done the work - and am almost to my 1st goal - I am thinking about moving is down 10 more lbs - but want to get to my 1st goal first :cursing: -
I am lucky my tummy isn't too bad - but I totally get the "didn't appreciate the bodies we had in out 20's" I was 120 and omw if I knew what I know now and had the body I had then - WATCH OUT WORLD.. but you know what I saw this guy I had dated (I was a groupie he was in a band :tt1:) after I had gained like 60 lbs - he said "omw what did you do to that great body you had" Do you know that I didn't know I had a great body..:cursing: I accept that I am not going to look like a 20 yr old - and the majority of my flaws can be covered up - the arms are what can't as much - here in the desert every thing is short - like cap sleeves - dresse are sleeves - tops are sleeveless.
-
Ok you are on :cursing:- at least we aren't alone in this sag and bag issue - even the younger ones are having it too - So I guess I need to quit complaining - but it is was i dislike the most - somedays more than others..

Your doctor should be giving you a list of items you will need and should be giving you list of foods - what does your 15 of liquieds include?? broth only - or can you have low fat creamed Soups. on the main thread - (don't remember where) there is a thread telling you what you will need. Look under FAQ - Gas X can be bought at any drug store - rite aid - wallgreens cvs. Each doc is diff in their insturctions - so some may have 2 days clear others done - some have pre-op diets some don't. I didn't have any infection - but some to get one... I don't know anything about your deficeny - but you should alert your doctor... Good Luck -

IndioGirl55 replied to littlesweet's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your doctor should be giving you all the info you need for your pre-op post op diet etc - be prepared for some discomfort after the surgery - it doesn't last long - but for me surgery did hurt - I was back to work though on day 6 - Follow your doctors orders to a T - Know that the lap band is only a tool and not the magic cure all to your issues with food and yes you will have to have will power - the will power to make a lifetime lifestyle change in your eating habits. Good Luck on your journey -

Call your doc and find out what liquid meds they can give you - I have left over liquid vicoden from my surgery and when I am in pain I mix it with my liquid tyenol and it works great... -
Swimming post banding
IndioGirl55 replied to smgallop's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You gotta ask your doctor for a definite answer - that is truly correct but I don't think you can go swimming until your incisions are 100% healed up. Reason - Infection... -
ok below the words is just saggy skin & fat - that no matter how much exercise I do - won't go away just like karri's tummy
-
Peaches Your ears aren't pierced???? OMW - I have 3 holes in each the top 2 have princess cut diamonds - hoops in the bottom ones... Ok we are getting your ears pierced !!! Yep - it really didn't bother me - I didn't feel like I was cheating - it was like 1:30 ish and I hadn't eaten - was hungry - had thought about getting a taco after getting my nail fixed - but I really hate eating alone in a restaurant - and if I keep busy then the hunger goes away.. But looked at it walked away bought my stuff and went back - One scoop is what a normal person would have on a Sunday afternoon - Heck previously I would have bought half a gallon a box of cones and had 3 one right after another and they would have all been triple scoops.. So no I have no guilt - I did a normal thing - just like what skinny people do - 1 scoop every now and then.. Not a cheat but a treat and I will budget my calories accordingly ... I am pretty focused as you say - but truly coming here ever few hours is what i think really helps keep me focused. Also I really am loving how I look - it is such a transformation. Yep - I am ususally hungry later - but truly I think sometimes it's more mental than physical - but thats when I eat my 100 calorie popcorn - as you all know I budge my snack calories (am allowed by my doc as long as heathly) for nite time - 300 calories after dinner - I don't always eat all 300 but some nights I do - I am ok as long as I don't start eating but once i do - i want to keep eating - I was this way prior to bandiing and still am to a degrees - especially if I am just sitting in the house.. Karri I would never yell at you for your starches - imho you need more :tt1:- I have wanted to yell at you before for being so strict about your atkins - imho it's not good for your body - you need a little bit of all kinds of food - but thats my phlyisophy (sp) and I can't push how I think on you - I am a firm beleiver in live and let live - we might not agree 100% of the time - but so what - that's why we are individuals and not robots :cursing: Body issues - I can TOTALLY relate.... here we lose all this weight and still look ugly... When I am looking at myself - with my very critical eye - the legs and tummy aren't great but not super bad - a bra takes care of the girls - but the ARMS... OMW they are really really bugging me they are so ugly - I am attaching a picture - I really really am going to look into getting them fixed - I have this thing about scars - to me they are just as ugly as the fat - but I can't stand them -... Also - i am a big baby - I am concern about the pain - drains - compression stuff.. we will see - but yesterday tried on a top - and it was too tight in the arms - fit everywhere else - but not the arms... Karri - sometimes the will give you a deal if they are doing more than one thing i think - well lets see how this picture turned out..

Thanks - that's cuz I am an expert at dieting  I am just parroting all that I have ever learned for all those lose weight programs I have been on the ones that I just never practied before = I think it took 50+ yrs and lapband to flip on the light switch. As I always say I am just a fat chick talking to other fat chicks and we all can relate :scared2:
