Ruby My Mom died at 40 and I was only 15 so only had my sister but we have dif Dad's so like you I had no one to compare myself too - they can do a blood test to tell you though. H Mother issues - I think alot of us have those - my mom sent me to the family doc to learn about the birds and the bee - omg he was my freinds dad - so embarassing... Steph Glad to hear your tooth is better - Glad that you are happy about taking time off to be with your kids. Remember you have teenager even with out medical issues they are a pain in the butt most of the time - it's just great that you are able to find out what's going on now before things got too out of hand.. Love your deterimnation to hit that 50 lbs goal - you will do it.. Karri I think I would like a female ps too - got everything crossed for you but know it will all work out just like you planned. Ok back to work....

It's really been said by the other posters - you get out of the band what you put in - eating healthy & exercising - that is the whole secret to losing weight - the band is a great tool in making it easier - once you get proper restriction - but in the mean time just cuz you can eat 2 slices of pizza why?? I went thru major surgery to get the tool to help me with my portion control - but I wasn't eating pizza 3 days out - Don't get me wrong I will have a slice of pizza once every 3 months but I hold my success so far to eating healthy 98% of the time and allowing treats 2% of the time - once you get in the groove - you really don't miss that junk much - do I miss eating large amounts of food - ya sometimes - but I love the way I look and feel - Don't let the other discourage you - this is an individual issue - We have an addiction - just like any other addiction therapy - some succeed and some fail - The ball is in your court - and if you are as determined as you sound you will do just fine.

    I hope so :thumbup::thumbup: - Ok to be 30 again with the knowledge that I have now - watch out world.. Youth is wasted on the young :Dancing_wub: you were suppose to learn (growing up) - It doesn't mean you have to practiced what you learned :drool::laugh:

  5. QJ - Has your doctor tested your band - that sounds like an awfull lot of fill for no restriction - have you been tested for a leak?? I do agree with Sweet Pea - we do need will power/self control on this journey - with proper restriction it does make it easier - but until you are there you gotta do the work - I eat healthy 98% of the time and allow 2% for treats - I exercise 4 days a week - weights & treadmill. Everyone talks about how restriction will save you - ya from eating pizza but not from eating ice cream - cake - cookie - candy - all the bad stuff still goes down with no problems - so ya will power is needed to avoid these foods on a daily basis... Personally - I would have your doc test your band - A lady in my Lucky#7 had pin holes in her tubing - she had to have tubing and port replaced. Good Luck...

    Oh forgot to tell you all this - You gotta buy new slips - this morning I went to put my slip on and omg it doesn't fit - I have to pin it or it is falling down below my dress :Dancing_wub: - it's snowing down yonder big time... I know we don't wear slips that often - so be prepared for when you do - it's not goint to fit...

    Thanks gang for all your complements - I post them as I feel that the before & after pics (I'm not a real after yet but very close) do help motivate others. I'm no spring chicken as we all know about that being the 50 + thread :Dancing_wub:- but I just want to show that if you do the work that's required you can obtain your goals - your really really can.. The band does make the job a little easier - but the real work is up to you - healthy foods and exercise... You can't just rely on the band - this is where I think us older ones have the advantage - we have dieted most of our lives and we know what to do- it's just doing it that was the problem - well now we have all put ourselves under the knife - which is a BIG deal at our age and now we just use all that info we have learned over the years of dieting and we can now be successful in out endevores to be thinner & healthier... P.S.

    Good Morning Gang - Happy Monday Phyl What beautiful Grandkids :purplebananna: - With eating that cake & ice cream I bet you drop a pound or 2 on your next weigh in... Remember we still have to live life.. Ruby I had periods like that (heavy heavy) had to wear 3 pad - put a baby waterproof pad and towels down at night. I never went to the doc about them - just lived with them - but thankfully - I have hit the menopause without any symptoms :biggrin2:. Ck with your Mom to see when she went thru it - that's suppose to be a good indicator. Yes you do lose weight in your feet too - I was 10 (still am in some shoes) but can fit 9 - 9 1/2 depending on the shoe - when I lost weight before my feet shrunk then too. Lazy day - heck all I did was change out of my pj's into my shift and get on the computer - watch tv etc - never left the house - which is a good thing cuz I didn't spend any $$$$. Linda Well, I guess who we know is Mom's fav kid - I can't beleive that - All I can say is that you are a GROWN women and if you want a TT go get it - i don't care if it's for physical or vanity reasons - What the HELL is wrong with a little vanity:confused:. Why do you think I post pic's - I am a little vain (ok a lot:rolleyes2:) - Does your Mom wear make up get her hair colored - wear earrings - all vanity... If you want it get it - and screw what pple think you don't need their approval... (ok my rant over too - I dislike insenstive ppl) Candice I like your idea - but besides the spagh squash & quiona - I don't know of a veggie I haven't tried - but I will look for one the next time I go to the store Ok not much to report since last night - I did cook some squash with spagh sauce a little corn & rice for my weekly lunch - need some Protein though - thought I would go get some of that chicken that's cooked and sliced and add it to it.. Step - Glad your tooth is better - at least you get to go to the dentist today to get it looked at. Ok off to see what's on my desk - as usual will ck back in a few

    Denise You went swimming - yep it's too cold here for that :eek: I was looking at the pool the other day after exercise and will be glad when it's warm enought to get into - it feels good after I have worked out. Congrats on all that exercise - those pple didn't notice 40 lbs omw whats wrong with them...:mad: Thanks I feel pretty good about me :purplebananna: 2 guys sat next to me at the concert - they must have been gay They didn't talk at all:wink2: Liquid Gold = Liquid Vicoden :cool:

    Ok Gang - where are half of you Linda - how are you doing ?? Steph - how's the tooth Mango - What's up Girl Kristin - Getting ready for work tomorrow. Oh crap my rice - brb - I hate when I forget to put the timer on .. Thankfully it didn't burn.. Ruby - How are you doing today .. Well, I have charged my Ipod for the weekly gym sessions - added a couple of songs - Trace Atkins (you know my new love:tt1:) Got my game on - song about me and something else - omg I forgot already :regular_smile: I just know i downloaded 3 songs... Rice is done now just gotta go cook my fish - can beleive it this morning was starving -but now not too hungry and it's almost 8 - don't know what I am taking for lunch - I didn't cook anything - i need some new ideas - sorta tired of my one pot wonders - so maybe will just go back to left overs. I really don't want to go back to those frozen meals - but may have to get a couple for lunch - I like real food not frozen crap. Well back to my t.v. - it got boring so I did nap alittle this afternoon - hope I can go to sleep tonite. Will ck back later....

    Karri I totally agree with you - your nut is a nut - and I wouldn't continue to see her - you have to find what works for you - and you only... There is a girl on this board Chicki who ppl said was too skinny - yes she is thin but too skinny not in my opinion - but she got alot of flack - there was a big fight at one time - about why we don't strive to lose 100% of our excess weight and for someone your age it's approperate imho. Us older ones need a few extra pounds on us - as demonstrated in that bmi thing I posted for Kari... I agree cut the exercise to 4 days - and like you said if you gain you then can increase it back to 5 - I think you are doing good with the adding of carbs to your diet (aka eating plan I hate the word diet but in the true sense of diet - is the correct word) Also, you even admit to being on the tight side - if you were looser then you would be able to eat more - OMG she says you are eating too much now - what then - but as that's always an opionion too - next time you can get over the hill to get some taken out. Don't let this lady get you down - this is your wedding weekend.. You are doing good - if you get to skinny your band mommy will tell you - but since we know you better than her - she can jump in a lake. Just keep doing as you have been - trying to increase your calories and decrease your exercise (OMW I wish someone would tell that too me :thumbup:) You are suppose to be honeymooning - so go honeymoon :regular_smile: - quit worrying.. p.s. you wouldn't want a 53 yr old body - either - my tummy might not be like yours = but it's far from being pretty.. You are beautiful as you are - you have a big heart and have been a great motivator for me. You have made major changes in your life by choosing to eat healthy and exercising - when you GET (not if - come on power of positive thinking) your TT then you will feel better but until then - remember where you were a year ago (closet eating) to where you are today (no more closet eating)

    Thanks Denise - To me in the mirror I looked thinner - thru the tummy than in the pic - but i am super critical of my pic's - Those are my size 8 jeans - (total fluke but they say size 8 and they more than fit - meaning they are not tight :regular_smile:) Salee No tricks that was me before & today (same person except I was hot and rushing on the way to join the gym in the before and most likely telling GS hurry up) Here is just my face 2/07 and 2/08 - Exercise & good food choices - That's been my the reason for my success... I am super focused and I feel so much better... I don't ever want to go back to the before pic - I really really don't so that piece of cheesecake in the fridge for my grandson is not callling my name - That's how focused I am - I am loving the new me - really the old me that was covered up in 83.5 lbs of frickin fat..

    OMG SUNNY WELCOME BACK !!!!! So glad to have you come back to us we missed you. IMHO I really do think that keeping track here and posting really helps keep us focused - at least for me it does. I remember the last time you posted that you were having the asthmas problems - and now leg problem (hugs) they took the hug icon away.. OK girl - you are now on the road to recovery - no more excuses... You did good by walking today that's a start and starting right now (not tomorrow but right now) - no more junk ok... You can do this - you really can - when was the last time you got a fill - how's your restriction? If it's not optimal then call tomorrow and make an appointment - having proper restriction makes the job easier but you still gotta do the job by eating healthy and exercising .. I can vouch that once you do (eat healthy)- you really don't crave the junk as much as you did before Can you get to a gym - can you get a trainer - that's our latest thing (well me & chim :thumbup:) but Karri - Jackie - Ruby - go to the gym - Peaches & Linda are walking as weather permits - Phyl does her water exercise & Kari rides her bike and Kristin plays tennise - Karri even jogged to the store the other day You gotta stay in touch - we need to become your transfer addiction - you need the accountablity - cuz we are going to keep you honest with yourself ... We want to be there for you!!! ----------------------------------------------------- Ok gang Bread Lady pm'd me and Said to say HI - (for those of you who don't know her she was banded in June but was a lucky #7 - when I first joined she was a big time poster - it was her chim dini lynette who seemed to post all the time.. and Sunny too :regular_smile: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Food Diary for the day (Sunny this is for you - I want you to start one) Breakfast - 1/2 cup cereal 220 c - 3 grms pt Lunch - Collard Greens - Calories ?? but to me veggies are pretty much free. Snack - Light pringles - 50 calories 1 oz cheese 100 c - 6 pt Dinner - 4 oz cat fish 150 c 28 pt 1/2 c rice 120 c 1 pt collard greens Snack ??? don't know yet - haven't even eaten dinner yet but it will be either 100 c popcorn or fudgecicle or sf pudding.

    Karri I think this lady is going to make you fat again imho and I am an expert dieter - didn't go to school or have a degree but this lady is a little wacked... You gotta modify this to work for you !!! - she doesn't get that you are an Atkins person -she is going off that triangle thing where you are suppose to eat more carbs - Too big of Meals - I don't get that you are banded you can't eat too big of meals... Reduce your exercise - nope - 3 stores for bell peppers I guess I am spoiled.. Ya know what just keep doing what you are doing - you aren't close to being anorixic (sp) keep adding a little more carbs and fat (cheese is adding fat stupid lady nut) You might want to cut gym time down to 4 times a week instead 5 (I don't remember how often you go) Ssankofa - For me keeping a food diary has be a very good learning tool as we seem to forget those little bites here and there duriing the day and they add up real quick - Just like Ruby not really reading her Ice Tea - full of sugar - I read every label before it goes in my cart at the grocery store and I read them again before i eat... Can't help with the Aunt Flo issue - thankfully those days are gond:biggrin: Peaches Those are my siza 8 jeans :tongue: (still think that's a total fluke but still love the #) I will keep them for you - I love bright colors always have even when I was big.. Phyl - Great picture of the family !!! Well windy all weekend - not to bad but enought to make it ugly out - Last night at the concert the power went out - it delayed the concert for about 45 mins. Yep I was home early - My gf & her dh had a brunch they were hosting today - so they had to get home - Not a bad thing really cuz - I had a big glass of wine when I was getting dressed and then 2 drinks at the concert - If we would have stayed and partied - I would have drank more - and truely I felt just right - and slept so good - DGS came in last night at 12 and said I am home - didn't hear him at all and ususally the dogs bark when they hear the doors - but I guess we were all pooped last night.. On the Quiona issue does it taste like cous cous (sp) - I don't know why I think it would - but I do - I like cous cousi - but it is sorta of tasteless...

    Karri - Congrates again !!! we were all thinking of you yesterday - Can't wait for the pictures - Wedding sounds great - You will always remember it.. I have been wanting to try quinoa - but I have to go to some place like trader joes - and just haven't made it that way - Congrats on the 2 lbs - heck imho and I am no doc your body is going to stop losing weight when it gets to it set point - You are doing excellent in your food choices even with eating out - remember we do have to live life and sometimes we need that chicken fried steak - You did better than me for Breakfast - I would have eggs & tatoes :smile: It would be so cool if you could get ins to cover ps :frown: Things will work out They say it takes a month to recover from a TT?? Well I guess that's about right - I don't know what I am thinking - lapband surgery?? couple of day :regular_smile: ------------------------------------------------------------------ I slept in til - 9:30 a.m today - Well dogs woke me up at 5 - took them out went back to bed - woke up at 7 and thought oh Phyl would be happy for me - then fell back asleep - woke up about 9:15 but stayed in bed til 9:30 - I most likely could have fallen back asleep.. 2 Tequila tonics and 1/2 cup Beans when I got home - were the magic sleeping pill i needed.. But gotta say I am hungry this morning- I had a 1/4 ceral - but am hungry again - I am cooking some collard greens - so those will be good for me.. Concert was good - I just wish they had screens so that you could really see the preformer - Josh Stone is 19 sings sorta like Janis Joplln (better voice but that bluesy soul kind of sound)- she is from England - I was home by 10:45 - so I didn't pull a jackie :biggrin: heres a pic from last night Ok - I am back to my paper - I figured you guys would want to know if I was still alive or not after my outing :eek: I will talk to you all later - will be looking for Karri's wedding pics :tt1:

    Going to the Chapel and we're gonna get married KARRI & DH HAPPY WEDDING DAY ---------------------------------------------------------- Phyl - Ya petiete really aren't petiete :redface: I alway just order a cheese enchillada -when you order stuff like shrimp and crab in the -they charge you $$$ but put fake stuff in it - plus I like my seafoad to taste like seafood and not covered in chili :sad: I use to sleep my weekends away - would get up read the paper eat - go back to sleep - get up eat go back to sleep - wake up around 6 p.m - watch tv read eat and be back to sleep 10 or 11.. Plus my little Angel wakes me up to go potty (they sleep with me :frown:) and some times I go back to bed on a Sunday and sleep til 8 - but on Saturdays - I have things to do - want to get to the gym - shopping etc - gotta get up and moving:lol: I guess I have just had enought sleep - as the saying goes I will sleep when I die - heck like right now I should be taking a nap - cuz I am going out tonite - but I'm not sleepy tired - my left leg is bugging me - like i have a kink in it - so in a bit i will get up shower and dress for the concert... My Bro is a little off too many drugs I know he loves me - all we have is each other - don't get me wrong - I love my big sis just as if we were full blooded don't think of her as half - but my bro & I are the only ones left from my mom & dad's marraige Steph - do you have any antibotic's in the house - it you do take them for your tooth ache - a tooth ache is caused by infection - the antibiotics kills the infection - thus kills the pain - I have the worlds greatest dentist - I didn't beleive him at first - but it does work - so if I get a toothach he gives me both pain meds & antibiotics... Kari Burn - when you exert your muscles and they burn - do a plea" (sp) or a squat - hold it until you feel your thigh muscles burn - that the burn I am talking about. Ok gang - I am off to the couch and t.v and to eat something - cuz I am going to have a couple liquid refreshments tonite - and dont want to pull a Jackie :tt1: So better get some food in my tummy..

    Ruby - Sorry about the downer - but we do all have days like that - and I do agree with Linda & I do approve of her method (Linda I think you ment to say it would be one that I do approve of ):frown: - I do it too - Since Thursday's are my weigh in days I will ususally go out to lunch or eat something other than fish - I do vary my calories day to day - some days I just want more food than others. I am exactly just like linda - the week I have be very good about exercise and eating i lose 1/2 lbs - then the next week i get the minimum exercise in and so so eating I lose 2.5 lbs Also are you drinking your water - peeing is one of the ways that the body flushes fat from your system - so drink that water and pee pee pee.. Ok I am really of the showers it 9;30 Later chickie babies..

    Good Morning Ladies !! Well, just got back from the gym - did my 3 miles !!! Waiting for the cable company to call back - my box isn't rebooting and I may have to take it in and get it replaced - the problem is I am going to lose the programs I have saved - the only ones I really care about are the last 2 lost shows and 2 surviors.... Well I guess I can watch the lost ones on the computer - ABC is always saying go on line and watch you missed episodes... Kristin - I went to bed about 9:30 ish last night - sometimes I am an old lady :tt1: Phyl - the vit and coffee maybe one went down the wrong way - I know that I use to be able to take a hand full of pills all at once with no problem swallowing- now just to take my petiete calcium (which isn't all that petiete) just getting them down my throat is a bit of a struggle.. Somedays I can eat more than others and the enchillada and beans are sllider foods to me - and some times after a pbing episode I am looser. some time tighter - who the hell knows our bands are fickle - that's all that I can come up with in these 8 1/2 months.. Linda - CONGRATULATIONS ON THE SIZE 14 from a 24 - that's fabulous !!!! Yep 10 here we come :frown: - 10 friggin sizes you have gone down - would you have ever thought that - that would be possible - I know I didn't - Ok what's this about dinner not being a bandster meal - I really don't think there is such a thing - You had a couple drinks so It's not like you are eating a whole baked potato smothered in butter and sour cream - you had dinner in the normal amount - ever night isn't going to be grlled fish or chicken with a little veggies - you gotta eat foods that you enjoy sometime - just in smaller portions. So quit laying guilt on yourself - I dont beleive in guilt - I am great at giving it but sure don't accept it from other :sad: If you weren't losing weight and crying th blues then I would tell you something - but girl you are our 1st 100 + loser - so enjoy life - you are doing good so 6 your time was 3 my time?? ya I was still asleep... I got up at 6 had coffee and was at the gym @ 7:05 a.m. Ok gotta tell you this - my bro called last nite - I looked at caller id and said OH NO HERE WE GO AGAIN... But he called to tell me that our Aunt wasn't answering the phone - so I said she must be in the hospital and I would ck with her stepson - he said ok I just wanted to let you know - and then he said love you before he hung up - OMW - he is a little touched... I wonder if he even remembers calling me the night before.. Kari My trainer has me do 3 sets of 15 reps - and on the last one he may make me do 20.. You wanta feel the burn and you gotta work thru the burn.. I would say that on my 2nd fill it did take 2 weeks to really take - I would cut out the bread for a while - sound like you might not be tolerating it too well - remember tiny bites - chew - eat slowly.... I don't eat much bread - did have a grilled cheese the other night for dinner - but you had wheat thins then an hr later a burger - I think you were full from the wheat thins and the burger could have been too much food - plus you could have irratated your tummy - I would eat some soft foods for a bit I haven't tried a panni since being banded - but that bread is thick... I think that may be the problem (you know the great doc that I am) cut out the bread for a few days - and see how it goes. Have fun at your DGS bday party.. Ok I am off to the shower - gotta get dressed and my stuff done - will ck back later xooxoxoxo
  21. Ya you came off a little harsh imho - I truly beleive in tough band love and will call you out on your excuses. but the operative word is love. not rude or mean... You are going to learn the more that you are on this site that there are alot of people who get banded to lose weight but don't follow the rules and then cry the blues (alot think it's the magic cure to their issues with food) - but you really can't go around telling people to shit or get off the pot. Everyone learns things in different manners - some are slow learners, some are fast - and we really can't judge others. If I read a post where some one isn't following the rule - I may call them on it - but sometime I just have to ignore it cuz they piss me off. I can only control me and no one else - I try to help others but just like with any other addict - you can't help someone if they don't want to help themself first... You are like everyone else on this board- you are not alone in your fatness - this whole frickin board is full of fat people -Heck most of the world is fat - so you don't have to attack we are just like you - She wasn't great at expressing her opinion - but it was that her opinion - and we each are intittled to ours - and you have the right to dissagrees - but imho it should be with some respect not attacks - also you didn't notice this was originally posted in Aug I think and she hasn't been on line since. Good Luck on your journey - one thing I can say - with your passion you should do excellent with your band :tongue:

    Ok - are you tracking your calorie *counting or keep a log like fitday or just in a little note book? are you exercising I eat more than 6 oz per meal I usually eat 1 cup for breakfast and lunch - Dinner is usual 4 oz fish 1/2c rice and 1/2 to 1 cup of veggies and do have 1 or 2 100 calories snacks I eat fish most nites but do have beef or chicken during the week too - but the other night I had a grilled cheese for dinner I think I am at my sweet spot - and I am getting 800 to 1000 calories most days and occaissionaly over the 1000 - like tomorrow cuz I am going to a concert and will have a few drinks. You say you have no off limit foods - with your PA blessings - are you eating too many of these food that I don't call off limit -but treats that should be limited (cake candy cookies chips fast foods - starches) 14 oz of soup as long as it wasn't white claim chowder isn't bad - so there must be something else - I have read it's good to vary your calories day to day to break a plateau one day 800 - next day 1000 - one day 900 - next day 1100 and on the exercise the intensity is the most important - treadmill walk at an increased incline.. Ya just need to get back in the groove this is a whole new learning process for us - we are going to fall sometimes but when we do - we just gotta get up and start over - ie learning - and to learn we have to repeat and repeat until we get it. I allow treats - but I budget them into my daily calorie intake and not in addition too - it is an addition too - then I exercise an extra day... Bootstrap time - get a big grip - and yank those boots back on and jump back onto the Band Wagon :tongue:

    4 oz Not enough

    I voted not enough - cuz for me mentally eating 1/2 a cup of food per meal it's not enough and imho don't think it's too healthy either.. I would say I am at my sweet spot - I eat 4 oz of fish, 1/2 c rice, 1/2 cup veggies for dinner every night - so I eat about 1 1/2 for dinner - Breakfast and lunch is usually 1 cup each meal - some days I have Snacks some days I don't. My doc didn't really give me a limit per meal - he wants me to eat - feel full and stop - in the begining and sometimes still - I have a hard time distigushing between head hunger and real hunger. I can eat dinner be full but looking in the kitchen for something to eat - I ususally will make a snack size popcorn and eat one piece at a time - this usually works for me.. As long as you are eating healthy - low fat - sugar free - you should be ok - If I am hungry still when I have eaten my dinner I will just eat extra veggies to me veggies are free foods since they are so low in calories.. This is how I have used my band - and adjusted to my new lifetime lifestyle eating and it's working for me..

    Welcome back Ssankofa !!!!!! Ok I looked for the rules but couldn't find them quickly so this is what I remember as being my insturctions - It's my lifestyle now - Low Fat - Sugar Free- Not nessecarity low carb - but limited carbs. Low soduim 60 protein grams daily - 64 oz water - Vitamims - calicum citrate - sublingual B No drink 1/2 hr pre & post meals 3 Meals with 2 healthy snacks. Eggbeaters - dannon light & fit yogurt - weight control oatmeal - low fat string cheese -1 oz of meat = 7 grms Protein - deli meats -(shaved 5 slices are like 50 calories and 7 grms pt) popcicles - sf fudgecicles - sf pudding - Veggies - Protein 1st - then veggies - then carbs if you have any room (I always have room) Exercise = minimum 30 mins of walking.. Hey gang - please help me out here - i am going by memory - but it's still how I have been eating - am I leaving out anything Ok when was your last fill - do you have restriction - what's going on that you havent been too motivated lately... Talk to us we will help you the very best we can.. Ok I gotta introduce you to 2 new members since you were here Salsa & Twilight - these are our offically adopted Lucky #7's ladies - Salsa was banded in Aug and she is my band daugther and she's getting married tomorrow :tongue: - Step was banded in Dec and she was having some problems getting started so Karri invited her to join us and she's a keeper - so these 2 names you might not remember - Here girls this is Ssankofa (old age kicking in here - don't remember if we knew your real name - by now we are calling each other by our real names - well except for peaches - cuz i don't know why - peaches just fits her) Ok - hope this help -let us know what's up....
