Cathy Prayers & Hugs are coming your way.... Wouldn't the surgery be beneficial if you had chf - with the weight gone your heart wouldn't have to work so hard. My Dad had it - so I know a little bit about it.. Again - hugs and prayer. xooxoxo Janet -
Can't stop eating!

I don't know who your statement applied to since you didn't quote the statement you were referring to. I am not going to praise and support someone who is eating against their doctors orders or eating Cookies, candies, and around their band all together and then cry the blues that they aren't losing the weight. I am not going to enable that type of behavior. I am going to give tough band love (the operative word being love) Ya you fell down - now pick yourself up by your bootstraps and move forward. Know yourself, understand your triggers and respond accordingly to use your new lifestyle tools I don't think that having major surgery was just another diet and it was going to fix all my problems with food - alot of work has to be done mentally to succeed Hell ya I may be preachy (follow the rules and do the work) I am self righteous (honest) - I have reached a goal that has been out of my reach my entire life with the help of my band and I did it in 9 1/2 months. I AM PROUD OF ME !!! I am a fat chick just like you - we are no diff - If you keep telling yourself you are weak then you will be weak - if you tell yourself you are strong you will be strong - positive affirmations work. If you are telling me all the reasons you can't do something - i have already used those excuses myself - as the saying goes you can't bs a bs'er - one obese person can't bs another obese person with all their excuses as to why they can't eat 4 oz of lean meat opposed to eating 3 candy bars. We all have different styles - we all respond differently - so my post might not help you - but have ton's of p.m. from people asking me my secret - for my help in attaining their goals - Instead of criticizing someones post who isn't being down right mean - just skip over it - Cuz every time you see my name on this board I am going to be telling someone why and how they can do it (make the healthy lifetime lifestyle change in their eating) Wishing you all the success in your endeavors.. -
Good you do have a bit of your band mommy in you

CONGRATS ON ONELANDER JB:thumbup: Clear liquids only  - I am glad I was allowed creamed Soups - but I did make some homemade broth for my clear liquid day before surgery... I can't stand the canned or boxed stuff... -
HELP! Swallowed Gum and it won't go down!
IndioGirl55 replied to ForwardLeap's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gosh sorry to hear about your dilemma and glad you got it solved I chew gum at the gym as it keeps my mouth moist - the other day I swallowed a piece ( I am just talking about 1 stick of gum) I said OH SH*t but you know what - I had no problems -- i guess it just slid right through and I do have restriction - but it was only one little piece not like a wad of bubble gum or 5 sticks of gum... -

I really don't see anyone getting beaten up here or not being supportive - all that has been done is to give advice, experience etc. Yes - everyone is diff - everyone's doc's are diff- some want to be coddled - some need kick in the butt - some will succeed - some won't - just trying to help everyone succeed. Peace Out... -
Tell my DSIL that he is a good man for taking care of you - I am glad you have such a GREAT man... Ya I love the slow metabolism excuse :w00t: Mulitple helpings of dinner- ya that was me:smile2: But you gotta remember and this is what I forget daily when I worry that the weight won't stay off - is that we have a permanent restriction control - yes that being said we still must eat healthy but we do have some control over our multiple helpings at dinner time  I think this is my 2,816 post - I have all you beat on this one - this REALLY IS MY TRANSFER ADDICTION :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::biggrin2::thumbup::thumbup:

Becky When are you going for the upper gi - today - remember I'm old - when did you get banded??? you are still on liquids how would it slip?? how much water & protein are you getting in - are you taking small sips - are you moving around - how's your blood pressure - are you diabetic.. -
Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
IndioGirl55 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes NMSunshine - That's what you gotta do:tongue:... You can do it !!!! I remember how jazzed you were when you got your date and first got banded - If I can remember that so can you - Make up your mind - get a fill and JUST DO IT... It's so doable !!!! The band makes the job a little easier once you have good restriction, but even then you gotta make that committment to yourself - and you are worth it - you wanna be around to enjoy your 2 new homes.... -

Sharon what are you asking??? You just had a fill on 4/29 (3 weeks ago) and you don't feel like you have lost weight?? are you saying you don't have any restriction, You don't own a scale?? What are you eating (types of foods & amounts)- do you have restriction - are you exercising - you really don't feel losing 3 lbs - your scale is what will reflect your weight loss Do you want to move your next fill date up - so I take it you don't have restriction ??? Yes I am blond - but I don't think that's why I am confused  Please clarify.... Beckyo :thumbup:CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR DATE  It's normal to be scared and happy all at once - I am very happy that your DH loves you as you are - That's great !!! But - wouldn't he like to see you healthier ?? For me that's what it all was about - yes I love the fact that I look so much better (icing on the cake) - but the reason for the surgery for me was to extend whatever life I have left.. Ya you are going to cook diff - things will change in the food arena - is your DH overweight?? What are your typical meals?? Is he going to lose his eating buddy?? -
Can't stop eating!

Yes - it's normal -
Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
IndioGirl55 replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Welcome Jbrod LBT is a great site for info and support. Liquid diets aren't easy - but do able - some doc have you do all liquids some allow a small high Protein meal (fish & veggies) for like dinner. The surgery isn't going to change your eating habits - you are the one who has to do that - the band is a great tool - but your brain is a bigger one and it's what controls the foods your eat. I totally get wanting to be around for your kids - I have grandkids that I want to see get married and would love to see a couple of great-grandkids.. I wanted to improve the quality of my life - which I have accomplished - I feel 10 yrs young - have 100% more energy... Good Luck ..... -
Good Morning Gang.... TGIF except I have more stress at home than here at work - GS doesn't like the house full - he's been in a mood the last few days - i tried to talk to him a little bit this morning - trying to explain that we are a family and family helps each other and that I don't nessecarily like it either (green candy stain on my carpet) but we have to do what we have to do - it won't last forever. I don't think he get - teenager are so selfish... Karri - I seriously doubt that DH would ever hurt you - you are so much smarter than that... Tell DH his BMIL says that he needs to quiz you before you run - no water no running Jackie Zolfot is good and I am glad you are going to the shrink - we all need to talk to an impartial 3rd party at times. I am glad that you are feeling better - and remember - you don't have to apolgize for long post - this is our thread and we can have a lot to say - OK....
-
Karri Mommie dearest hear is going to spank you !!! If you are going to run - you gotta drink your water - so from now on PLAN IT FOR THE DAYS YOU ARE RUNNING...:w00t: I am still counting calories but I am not as fastidious as you - I don't count the evoo that I use. Tonite scallops in a little evoo butter and garlic over rice and some green beans - I scallops are like 100 so I guessmate my dinner to be 350 max - I don't dot my i's or cross my t's

Beckyo Here is a link Bariatic choice - they have good clear liquid protein - 70 calories and 15 grams of protein - I like the grape (taste like grape coolaide) & peach mango - you add then to your water like crystal lite - but you are getting protein Bariatric Diet | Bariatric Protein Supplements & Vitamins | Bariatric Weight Loss Products I got my Unjury - directly from the unjury website Welcome to the UNJURY Homepage the Jay Robb was given to me by my boss but here is a link Jay Robb new whey, egg and soy protein powder - Official Site Fruit Flush 3 Day Detox I like the Jay Robb the best - it doesn't have a taste - but I don't think you can add it to warm foods - I used the unflavored unjury with yogurt & fruit too to make a shake You may want to order some samples 1st - like someone said - we all have diff taste - I can't remember the name of one that alot of pple like - matrix or something - I thought it was awful Does your doc sell this stuff - mine does - Mine gave me a whole bunch of samples - and I made my choice from there.. My Insurance required it (overnight stay) for me personally I am glad I did - like i said - when I 1st woke up - I thought WTF have I done - but then just pushed the pain med button and went back to sleep - I had surgery like 6 a.m by 7 that night I was better and I remember getting a pain shot around 3 a.m. the next morning and then on Wed when the doc came to release me I was in MAJOR GAS PAIN - I was afraid to go home in that kind of pain cuz vicoden an I don't get along real well and I am single and live with my 17 yr gs - so I stayed an extra night - i really could have gone home at 6 p.m. that night - but wasn't thinking - i could have just called the doc and he would have released me over the phone. Make sure you have the gas x strips... MAJORILITY IMPORTANT.. By the time I got home around 9:30 a.m on thrusday morning (had surgery on a Tues) I was doing ok - friday washed the patio off and washed the slider door to the pool.. Some insurance requires overnight stays some don't - it's all up to you and how you tolerate the surgery and who you have at home with you - also alot of pple sleep in recliners for the first few days - I don't have one so I slept in my bed - it wasn't super easy to get in and out but not that bad.. I hope i haven't scared you to death - but like when I asked my big sis does it hurt to have a baby - she said yes it hurts like hell - but when you see your baby you forget the pain - it's the same thing = ya it hurts when you 1st wake up and maybe the 1st 12 hrs - but after that it wasn't bad for me.. There are pple here who say it doesnt hurt and even girls younger than me who sound like real big babies (off work for 2 weeks) so it's really about how you handel the pain. -
Phyl - You have been emotional - maybe that's it.. Go with soup for a day - are you stuck or upset stomach - since I have never stayed stuck - it either goes down or comes back up (last nights chicken came back up but lunch today no problem) Candice love this example - Karri - it's true - I think adding nuts - real oil (healthy) and cream etc would be a good healthy way to increase your calories - 12 miles tonite- OMW I'm tried just thinking about it - today is my off day - had an hour of quiteness but everyone is home - and noise - tv loud - 4 yr old being a 4 yr old - but they got take out for dinner (burger king) - well I hope it was their dinner cuz I didn't take anything out - This is the part I don't like cooking meals for all the picky eaters - Last night was ck tacos - DIL made enough rice to feed an frickin army - she knows that DS doesn't eat it - so that leaves 2 DGD and her - what a waste of food.... and they don't seem to eat left overs.. I just got a bill that I owe another $352 to the hospital - I guess they made an adjustment in feb - I gotta call blue cross tomorrow.. this is bs 7 months after the fact.

My doc has asked if I would come to a newbie seminar and speak - I said yes - but so far they haven't contacted me. What were your complications - I have seen you around the board but didn't know you had problems. I think that newbies need to know about the emotional part of our experiences 1st hand - I think it would be most beneficial to them - they don't talk about how we can miss eating out we cope with out food in our face 24/7- Think that is what makes a successful bander - is doing the mental work that goes along with it - the band its self isn't going to make you lose the weight I know that you have been successful and that in it's self is inspirational to others - but they need to know the work involved to be successful.. IMHO you should do it... -

Good Luck.... I wish you the best !!! -
If I can do it anyone can - I haven't been an 8 since my early 20's.. This is the 1st time in all my years of dieting that I have made it to goal My trainer is so very proud of me and it's great having someone who was a complete stranger a couple of months ago - telling me how good I am doing - If you can afford it - I highly suggest that you look into getting one once you have healed - muscle burns more calories just being than fat does - I took a hose and washed off the paitio - no great work - it just felt good to be outside. I had company come to visit me that Friday (day 4) so the house had to look good

Have you check out the sleeve - if I lost my band that's the way I would go... -
jb I didn't even notice the date when I 1st reply - dumb me - I should know better :0) The sounds are just your system recovering and digesting your liquids. I was feeling better good day 3 - day 4 washed the patio down - did things slowly but was up - I was back to work day 6 - Port site hurt the longest - couple 3 weeks if I remember correctly - by the time you are 9 1/2 months out you will forget - just like a having babies - you remembered it hurt - but not how much...
