My hair dresser says it's from the decrease of the fat in our diets - I had a gf who didn't have surgery just did medifast - got her protien but still lost tons of hair - she had cut out most fats. I have been lucky - no hair loss and I have decreased my fat intake but have not eliminated it all together (now healthy fats in moderation). Makes sense to me - no one ever talks about the fat issue.

Yep slowing down - small bites and chewing is a problem for most of us. We get hungry - we start shoveling not chewing - but oh - will our bands remind us that it's there. I have the same problems - I miss food - I miss eating - but I don't miss how terrible (sluggish) I felt - I love my energy level - I love my new look - I love my size 6's & 8's - I love all these things more than I miss the food. Practice practice makes perfect - this is a learning process and it's going to take a while to unlearn lifetime habits.. -
Cathy - You are in my prayers for surgery tomorrow - Great that you have Dr. Ponce - I really don't know the diff between the 2 bands - I have the allergan band new one - Today shouldn't be to hard as far as the clear liquids go - at least for me it wasn't cuz when I am nervous i don't eat. Hugs Janet Long2bthin - Prayers, Hugs - you will be find - Yes will be the 1st day of the rest of your new healthier life... We you feel up to it - let us know how you are... Hugs Janet

Hey Phyl Have fun whale watching and hope no rain - Congrats on GD's  Our bands are funny things - I had a sandwich for lunch no problems yesterday (toast light bread) dinner my usual fish and was so full. After a pbing or stuck episode it takes away and desire to eat  Well, not much to report - today was my weigh in day - maintained at 153 (I think - scale would say 152.5 then 153 then 152.5 and then 153 4th time) so I must be just a tad off 152.5 - Happy with this. Well just cking in this morning = yep very quite yesterday - now you and Karri both gone - it's going to be even more quite Well as usual cbl.

Frisky It sounds like you could be at your sweet spot - I don't find that the band takes all my hunger away - it helps but doesn't make it dissapper like so many say. What are you eating - if your are eating slider foods (foods that slide right thru the band - soups - very soft foods yogurt etc) then you will be hungrier often - Have you tried tuna in a little lite mayo - also your bites should be the size of a pencil eraser - eat slowly - for me I need to eat at least 1 cup of food per meal - i think eating 2 tacos was too loose... When I eat mexican I ususally have a few chips a bite or 2 of beans and 1/2 taco 3/4 max - I am happy with that type of restriction -
Marlinda - How fantastic that you are doing so well - you must work in the medical field cuz of your knowledge of the meds  My surgery was like 7 am when I woke up in my room i had a cath and they took it out that afternoon and I didn't get up to walk til late that 1st night - and when the doc came to release me the next day around 1 pm I was in terrible gas pains in my shoulder - I was afarid to go home in that kind of pain as vicodin and I don't get along real well (I had/have liquid vicodin) so I got another pain shot which puts me to sleep - could have gone home that evening but wasn't thinking left the hospital 8:30 on Thursday and never took any meds since that last shot on Wed around 1 p.m. I was thinking of you tonite - an am so happy to here that you had a safe surgery and are doing so well ... I never tried the isopure - I am glad you like it... Welcome to bandland - get your Protein in - drink your Water and don't cut all the fat from your diet - my hair dressers says that's the reason for the hair loss - I have reduced my fat intake drasticlly (I love Paula Dean - Butter girl and Emril Pork fat rules )- but I still have olive oil and a little marg Rest and don't over do it - Take Care and I will talk to you tomorrow Hugs & Kisses Janet

It's pretty good - I used the unflavored in my coffee in the morning (but you gotta let it cool some or it will currdel) also used the vanilla mixed with yogurt & fruit ice - choc & banana & skim milk ice and I added it to my soups some times but you gotta let it cool - best was in coffee & sf creamer and the shakes I like the jay robb egg white vanilla mixed with lite o.j. and ice like an orange julis - really yummy - it doesn't have the protein taste - never tried it with the unjury - my boss gave the the jay robb and I like it Just google jay robb protein powder - you will find the link - Everyones taste is diff - matrix i think is the one i hated but some people liked it - my doc office sells all this stuff.. some I can get on the internert some I can't but here is a link for some protein you can add to your water like crystal lite - 70 calories 15 grms protein - I really liked these WonderSlim Bariatric Diet Fruit Drinks: Bariatric Weight Loss Protein Drink Supplements They keep changing flavors - oj & lemonda ok - liked the berry & wildberry - the pinnapple sounds good = before the had just grape and i really liked that taste like grape koolaid (sorta) I think the crangrape would be good... -
Ok Bea - Long2bThin - teacherofk - froggi1985 -Jill-- Rach -MarLinda; Linda13- cathychatts - Patti Just cking in on my girls - wondering how you all are doing tonite... Remember - drink you Water - good food choice and if it goes in your mouth you write it down  Ladybug - what is slowly and how much do you have to lose (I forgot what your ticker said) Are you exercising - What are you eating - do you have restriction. Thanks Godshelp... You will do the same in paying if forward too.. Exercise - I started slowly (I didn't do anything after my 6 week ck up) I have a gym across the street from my development - I started doing like a 25 minute mile - was drenched in sweat - did that for a week and then increased speed once a week (I would go to the gym 4-5 days a week) I am now doing 3.5 miles in 51 minutes on speeds starting at 3.0 to 4.0 and inclines 0 to 7 - Just start slowly - get your body use to it and then each week challenge yourself to increase speed and miles & time on the machines If you can afford it - ck into a trainer - cardio really doesn't build muscule like working with weights - muscles burn more calories - so if you can start working with the weights too.. You are doing good on your weight loss - 27 lbs in 2 months CONGRATS:cool2: Add the exercise and you will keep seeing those lower numbers every week

Thats good to hear - I think she comes off sort of snippy on tv sometimes. Yep I think it's all about the support and accountability to others - I know that alot of my Lucky #7 don't post anymore and when they do they say they have been off track.. LBT is my transfer addiction - so i am alway here - too much sometimes ).. Yep - tool only the work is up to you... My doc thinks thats why I have done so good is that I am using my tool and making this a lifetime lifestyle change. My xdh came by today - told me I was too skinny I said how in the hell is 153 too skinny I'm short 5'4 - he said you look like you weigh 120.. Love my xdh today :tt1: -

Prayers for a safe surgery and speed recovery - Let us know how you are doing when you feel up to it.. You will be a new person day after tomorrow :0) -
No it doesn't :cursing: - for me I find that avoidance works best - I really try my hardest to avoid temptation - my doc does allow Snacks - healthy one only - I can't tell you to go against your doctors order - but you really gotta find what works best for you to make this all work. For me I save my snack calories from the morning and eat 2 at night - I am still within my calorie budget for the day - but nights are my hardest - so I bend things to work for me.. Good Luck - You can do this !!!!

Deb I'm 10.5 months out and I am hungry right now too - I had my breakfast (oatmeal) lunch is another 1:15 minute - the hunger isn't going to kill me (or you for that fact) - Add some crystal light to your water - you can make it another hour without eating. Have a small can of V8 that's veggies & liquids .. I do not find that the band takes away all of my hunger - it helps a tad - but I still get hungry between meals at times. But I just push thru it - it's doable...

Hi & Welcome to LBT Tonya What were people complaining about ?? I love my band - it is the perfect fit for me. I needed portion control - with this tool I have been able to lose 97 lbs in 10 monts. Some people go into WLS with the mindset that it will be the quick fix and they really don't have to do any work - That is so untrue. Any WLS is just a tool - you have to understand that you have to make lifetime lifesytle changes to your eating and you need to add exercise into your life. The band's cons for some - taking so long to get to sweet spot - well discuss w/your doc how he looks at fills - does he do them slowly or aggresively - I can tell you I was too tight once and that's all it will ever take - being too tight for me is worse that being too lose. I have gone to my local support group but I find that I perfer LBT as its open 24/7, I don't have to driven anywhere (cost of gas) and also I wasn't getting home until 8:45. You need to read/listen to both con's and pro so that you can make your own decision Good luck on your journey

Ruby I find that my band tightens after exercise (all that rolling around) also if I have pants that are a little snug in the waist - it seems to affect my band. 70 lbs - FANTASTIC :thumbup: - makes you think how did I get around before :cursing: Let us know how the trainer thing goes and how much $$ - I would like to know Good Morning Gang What's up.... Not much here - just at work - wishing I wasn't :Dancing_sad: Univentful evening - gym, dinner - tv - bed - same old stuff. Well gotta get in gear - I will CBL:biggrin:
-
Jill Glad to help :cursing:- That's what I am here for :biggrin2:... I truly feel that keeping a food diary log is very very important. As fat chick's we really didn't realize how much we were eat as to what the calorie content was/is and what a real portion size is. Another suggestion - get a scale to weigh & measure food (once you get it again:tongue:) This will help you recognize what 4 oz looks like (got mine at bed bath and beyond - i got one that give calories & other junk like Protein - carbs fat a little pricey $100 but well worth it). Also if you have a Target by you go and get this little bowl - it's one cup - they have them in diff colors red, beige, blue - to me they are Oriental looking black on the outside and colored on the inside - also eat off small plates (sandwich or dessert plates) get some toddler utensils too. Also sound like you do get one meal per day - practice small bites - chew chew and no drinking with meals - It does take practice and I forget every now and then about the small bites and chewing when I am hungry - but then my band reminds me  The not drinking with meals or after takes a little work but it wasn't that hard for me. I am so happy that you are really motivated - open to suggestion and taking this seriously (not the quick fix) you will be successful with this mindset Hugs Janet

Sharon What are you eating - are you getting any exercise. Yes people have gained - but it's usually due to poor food choices. Hey Bev - Congrats - I was banded in July - it's a good month for banding:lol: -
I eat the jello brand - double choc - I will have to look for the swiss miss
-
Glad to see you back on track girl - we have a lot of Lucky #7's who have dissappeared...

No more weight loss
IndioGirl55 replied to spoodles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With a fill or without a fill you gotta make good healthy food choices - follow the banders rules - NO DRINKING WITH MEALS (som doc's say 1 hr before or after - mine it's 1/2 hr before or after). Once you all get proper restriction it will make the job easier - you may or may not have it on your first fill - it does help hunger some - but for me it doesn't take it away 100% - I will be full from dinner and still want to eat and I am at my sweet spot. So don't think just cuz you are filled that you are not going to want to eat - you are still going to want to (well for me) you just gotta do the mental work that goes along with the band. Exercise is key too - are any of you exercising yet?? I guess I must be abnormal - I haven't hit a plateau yet - it should be coming any day - but I really feel that my good eating habits and exercise have been key to my loss every week except one where I stayed even with the week before. Also - pick one day a week to weigh in - don't get on the scales everyday - i did for the 1st week - but after that - I weigh in just once a week - same day same time.. -
Brez - We all do (need that kick in the A$$) That's why I love my trainer - he allows no excuses I still keep a food diary today - it's too easy to forget that Protein bar from 10 am this morning or that frappacino (light of course) ... Keep me posted and if you think you need another fill - call them and tell them that your tool isn't any good to you without proper restriction.. I am lucky my doc is pretty aggressive when it comes to fills. Hugs

Beckyo Your feeling are normal - ya you could do this on your own and you would get some of the weight off - but it would slowly come back on. But with the band you will now have the tool to help you with your portion control - this tool will be with you for a lifetime... Not just for the whole losing weight - but to help keep it off in the future...
