GOOD MORNING GANG I AM BACK............................ 800 miles between Friday and Sunday ... Good to see my Sister and my neices & nephews - I hadn't been up north for a couple of yrs (my sis was here last nov) they where shocked about my weight loss and I guess it's showing in a pic that I will post in a bit from my GD graducation - you will get to seen my 2 gk & son I went to the gym friday before I left then gs and i went to the mall and he gave me a great NSV - when we use to go to the mall he would be 10 steps a head of me - well on friday he said LaLa why are you running (walking so fast really) as I was a head of him - I said I am just walking.... Then we went to target and I didn't look for a parking space close to the store - took the first one I saw - he said - you really have changed:biggrin: At my sisters on Saturday morning I did one mile with my BIL - an ok speed then I did 2 more miles at a very good speed by myself. Hope all that countered the 2 1/2 cookie and wine I had  Yes you guys were quite - I remember looking at page 700 when i posted on Friday - so that I would know what page I had to go back to - well 701 -- I wanted to sleep in but dogs had me up at 7 - which is better than 5 - well woke me up at 5 put took Angel potty and went back to bed. I think I need to go do my 3 miles this morning since I am off and then I meet my training partner at 5 - my trainer is gone this week so it's just us girls  I am going to go see if I can post the pic - it's been a while since I have done it... Glad to hear you are doing better - it really does get better and I am so glad to hear you are pumped - that's the key - keep that motivation going - TTYL Janet

    That's GREAT
  10. Tai I to love my band - I have lost 99 lbs in 11 months (hope to have that last pound off by 6/19) then I can say i have lost 100 lbs in 11 months. 100% of my excess weight. As it stands now I am 9 lbs below my original goal (I never would have beleived that i could for once in my life attain a goal weight) I love my size 6 pants was 18/20 - Med tops - was 22/24 I now have portion control eat healthy 98% of the time - I now exercise 4 times a week (2 weight 2 cardio) I feel 10 yrs younger - and have 200% more energy. I have been forturnate and haven't had any complications with my band - I follow the rules - and ya have pb'd a few times - no biggie - I can't eat a submarine sandwich - no biggie Yes it's good to read about the complications -but not everyone has them - you can be driving to work and get hit by a truck - is that going to stop you from driving... Yes it's normal to be scared - this is major surgery and not just another fad diet. The band was the tool that I needed to get my life back...

    I'm here to help...

Ok December I am here to help you - Whats wrong - whats going on !!! You were banded 12/07 lost 40 and have regained it.. Ok we have messed up but now - right this second not tomorrow we are going to change things. Starting right now you are going to eat healthy - no more junk - no more eating around your band. Second - hows your restriction???? it it's not optimal - then call your doc today and make an appointment for a fill immediately -- Your band is only a tool and it must be maintained in order to work. Third - Hows your exercise... What is your typical daily menu??? What's your family sistuation and do you have any medical problems.. I will give you all the support you need - I will tell you how I handle my stuggles and I still have them - will for life most likely... But be aware - I give tough band love (operative word being love) Hugs Janet

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

For me I have to be able to eat at least 1 cup per meal - I could not survive on 1/2 c - plus IMHO I don't think that you can get enough food to live on at that amount (healthy wise) - I know that alot of pple like to only eat 1/2 cup per meal - but I just can't - I will be full on my 1 cup of food but still want to continue to eat - Head Problems  Last night 3 oz of my sea bass from Monday (mondays fish lasted 3 days)- and I think I left a bite on the plate cuz I was full plus 1/2 cup of tatos - full didn't even get my veggies in :frown: Hey NMSunshine - How are you doing !!! You don't pop in very much any more...
  16. IndioGirl55

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Carol sounds like you have restriction to me - the thinking you could eat more is testing your band if you aren't hungry - One of my fills took 2 weeks to settle in - but it's diff for everyone - if you are eating less than 4 oz per meal - I would say you have restriction The whole eating when not really hungry is still a killer for me - I have to be very careful - I keep trying that 1 more bite

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Congratulations Ruby !!!! I feel the same way most of the time  I ordered blacked sea bass the other night - cuz it's what I wanted (omg so good tasted sweet like lobster) - I didn't order a baked potato - cuz I knew it would be wasted. Dessert - No put for me it was about the calories - I had enough room for a bite or 2 - but didn't want the calories I need the water cops on me - I haven't been good - So you need to challenge me today - that way I will do it - I hate to lose (well except i LOVE LOSING WEIGHT)

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Long - good to hear that your appointment went well CONGRATULATIONS on the 30 lbs gone:biggrin::frown::thumbs_up: This is only the begining Yep I bet those beans were the best that you ever had - we all felt that way when we got back to regular food - for me it was 10 days but for some they have a whole month of liquids.. Yes it is very important to get your water in - I am lucky I can drink before but have to wait 1/2 hr after eating to drink - it takes a bit of getting use to but it wasn't that hard for me - BeckyO Also I have lost 98.5 lbs in less than 11 months and there are alot of pple here who do lose the weight fast (again depending on how much you have to lose) so don't let those statistic scare you - it all depends on how you work your program and exercise. My doc says that I have lost weight like his bypass patient - and remember it's not all about losing the weight but keeping off for the rest of our lives - there are bypass & lapband who both regain their weight when they revert back to old eating habits.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Becky Remember we take the word hope out of our vocabulary and replace it with will - Positive affirmations. I am not a doctor but I really have to disagree with him on the issue of the band vs bypass - Yes IMHO i have been quoting since day one that the band does 25% of the work (with proper restriction) and the other 75% is up to you. We still absorb our calories where as bypass pple don't - we don't have the malabsorbtion problems or the dumping problems that bypass pple have. IMHO it really boils down to how much weight you have to lose and what your drug of choice food is ie candy, ice cream, cookies - sweets period - plus things like chips- for me if those are your major problem foods then yes bypass might be the right answer as you are going to get physically ill from eating these foods and your body isn't going to absorb the calories - Where as if your drug of choice is food period that you just eat too much - ie eating a breakfast burrito - hash browns - oj - and a sweet roll - then lunch a big sandwich chips and cookie - after noon snacks candy cookies chips - then dinner 2 servings - then dessert - then another serving of dinner and maybe some more sweets before bed - then the band is a good choice cuz no way are you going to be able to eat like that with the band. My doc had me answer questions as to what kinds of foods i ate - I asked him if he thought that the band was a good choice for me or should I go with the bypass - he said that the band was a good fit for me. Becky - Please know that the band is only a tool and yes the 75% that is up to you is to make good healthy food choices and exercise - this is a lifestyle lifetime change - you have heard that phrase all your life on any diet you have been on - now you will have the tool to help you make the lifetime lifestyle changes in order to lose the weight - The band is not the magic cure to your issues with food - you are going to have to do a lot of mental work on that front as our problems with food really are more in our heads instead of our stomach. When I joined LBT - The women in the 50+ thread kept drilling the tool issue into me (Denise will remember as she is the only one who is still posting from back then) They told me to let go of that little hope in the back of my brain that said - oh the band will do the work - i can just cruise along... I heeded their advise and that's where I came up the the 75% vs 25% and when I asked my doc he said yes I was correct. If this was the easy way out - then yes the band would do 75% of the work and we would only have to do 25% - the Oprah would be right in her opinion that WLS is the easy way out and that we aren't doing on our own - Heck I am doing this not the band - I am the one who is eating healthy - I am the one going to the gym not the band - I am doing the work and the band is the tool to help me control my portions only. OK - Off my soap box - but yes darling this is work - but with the band it makes the job doable - yep it's still hard at time - but you can work through those hard times - as we will have your back and be here to support you. Change your vocabulary to only positive affirmations about this - you will be a success - this isn't just another fad diet - as diets don't work as the saying goes, cuz the minute you go off them and start eating normal you gain it all back plus some - you are going to learn that we were not eating normal before and that our new healthy eating is really what it's all about - plus exercise - it's very important too. What's your surgery date ??? Know that we are here for you.

I am so proud of you :biggrin2: - you are making progress  How the breathing issues??? I think you should have 4 oz of wine every night - good for your heart and sleep... Tonite we did something totally diff - we did arm workout on the ball. I really enjoyed it - the girl I work out with is 28 and she is stronger than me in the arms but I am stronger in my legs - She is a bit of a whimp saying oh it's to heavy - were as I say it's not heavy enough.. I think I am more competitive than her - but I like her - our trainer will be gone next week so we are going to meet anyway and train together - I will be the teacher :frown: I really should have brought my ipod and stayed and did the treadmill - but i didn't - the ball really works your core - i loved it - it was a nice change. I am feeling better since I worked out :biggrin2:

Darling - you are to funny to even think we would wag a finger at you of all people - we are happy that you are going to be a little over with healthy foods - your exercise will counter act any extra calories. I can't say it's the weather cuz our is so much diff - but I have been hungrier than ususal - It's ok - I know that it's hard on you (going over your calories) but you will be OK you really will - You are still eating healthy and exercising with that combination you won't gain any weight Hugs - no wagging fingers - and you sounded pretty positive about being over and that's good to hear - it's not throwing you in to pantic mode.

Long For me full is the same feeling - and yes head is totally behind the stomach when it comes to being full - last night my stomach said full but my head said i wasn't - pd'd on my fish :tongue2: Knowing when you are full is a new experience and being full on smaller portions is the band at work - enjoy restriction while you have it.. Some pple don't have fills at their 6 week post op some do - I had a lady at my doc's office who didn't get a fill for 6 months - as you will come to realize some need tons and some don't - bands are very fickle. What you explain sounds like you are full - What I would do in the beginning was really sit and think about am I full or not - 99% of the time I realize I was physically full but not mentally - this is why I say they should invent a band for our heads.. Just really concentrate on what your stomach feels like when you eat - I know that at times I will take that one more bite and realize that if I sallow it will be one bite too many and it will come back up - so I will spit it out. You will learn to understand your band - you just have to be very mindful of it.. Let us know how your appt goes..
