    Hair loss

It also can be the lack of fat in your diet - I know pple who say they get all their protein and still lost their hair - Don't cut all fat out of your diet make sure you include some healthy fats.

    I'm here to help...

They had 3 jalapeno - sun dried tomate - and the apple - i gotta tell you the apple/cheese (i think that's what it was) was really good - you don't taste any apple - I tried all 3 - I thought I would like the jalepeno one the best - but it was the worst - I bought the apple/cheese - next time they demo it - try it - you are a new person with your band so you gotta try new stuff

If they are the same ones I got there - apple/cheese??? they are only 130 and like 15 pt - and are good - i didn't think I would like it cuz of the apple (don't like fruit with my meats - don't do mint w/lamb or cranberry w/turkey) but they were really good. Good you are planning !!!

How's it going Gang !!! Who has plans for the 4th?? Who's having BBQ's or going to them?? Do you have a plan in place on what you are going to it - Planing is very important. Make sure you eat Breakfast - and then plan what you are eating - tally the calories and stay within your budgets.. If you are at home - it's easier cuz you control the foods you server - but if you are out - then just take a small portion of what is being served - Protein 1st then veggies then starches - Eat watermelon instead of cake (make sure you take tiny bites) and if you just can't pass up the cake - do the 3 bite rule - allow yourself 3 bites then throw it away or give to someone else. Remember it's not those 3 bites that got us fat it's eating 3 or 4 pieces of cake. Here's some sauages/hot dog info that my freind salsa posted I forgot to post this for everyone. I found 97% fat free Hebrew National Hot Dogs at Wal-Mart a couple of days ago. They only have 45 calories per hot dog. So for those of you who are not planning to spend their 4th of July in a compression garment sipping on a vicodin margarita this could be a great alternative to bring with you to a BBQ. Also if you are looking for sausages...Johnsonville has great Turkey/Cheddar sausages that are 130 calories. If you can find the Jenny-O Turkey cheddar sausages they are only 120. I eat these a lot for breakfast. I love em! You should be able to find any of these in the hot dog section of your favorite grocery store!

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thanks Snowbird - it's good to know I am not the only sorta long time bander who still is having food issues and head hunger.. I am pretty good 99% of the time in keeping in my calorie budget - so it really doesn't worry me too much - the thing is I gotta really start working on not eating when I am not hungry and just cuz it taste good. Gerio - I have never had that problem - It comes up immediately if it's not going down  - But I did hear of someone this weekend who's steak came back up like 6 hours later.. Who knows the band is a fickle thing and we each have diff experiences with it.. Long - I can eat pretty much anything I have never really had a problem - sometimes a flour tortillia won't go down and other times it does. Just like Phyl sometimes she can eat chicken and others times no - I have no problems with the stuff like shrimp, a good steak filet migon .. Skinnyme52- Welcome - this is a great site - Congrats on your date - keep us posted

Good Morning Gang How is everyone this fine morning Well for me my little bear got out (hole in block wall where the overflow of water drains) and had to chase him for 15 minutes - this was at 5:45 a.m. :cool2: He got the bad dog talk - but he has always been a runner so I guess I should know that he doesn't pay attention for long anyway to my bad dog talks - Now my little angel - she is a good dog - tell her to stop and she stops rolls over and is totally submissive. Bear when to school - she didn't  Just like kids - you have one that listens and the other doesn't. So I got a little exercise this morning On my 1st bottle of water... CBL

Omw Candice that was a good one lmao Ok where is everyone I know that Ruby got a life  Linda is always busy with her community work :smile2:and family - Karri out celebrating her last year in her 20's Well, I guess that only leaves Kari - Peaches - Me - Phyl and all you have dh's so it's just me and my doggies - gs has gone to the beach with his mom - he called and asked if he went in the ocean would a shark get him (they are in Newport Beach) - I told him he watches too much tv (and he doesn't really) but I told him it was safe in the water - he called a little while ago and said he and his little bro had a lot of fun - I told him that he just had forgotten but that he loves the water/ocean - (we use to go when he was younger) - he hadn'tbeen since our cruise in 05 I guess.. Ok gang - I know how this goes - you will all get on when I get off - my feelings are going to be hurt - just playing - I went to the gym did my 3 miles and sweated like a pig - it's hot here - my car said 119 but it was most likely 115.. Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Denise You never gave up - yep you b*tched about the scales not moving but you never gave up and said - forget this - you continued to plug along like the little train that could - and you did reach goal.. How many times in the past would you have just given up.. So yes for me you were/are an inspiration !!!! I have restriction - but I NEVER forget to eat - especailly in the evenings dinner has always been my fav meal - if I am out shopping or something like that - ya I don't eat but dinner no way am I going to forget that meal - I think my fill could use a tweak - I had a sandwich at lunch and it took a while to eat (steak from last night on lite bread) but by 2 ish I was hungry - so even though I ate hard protein - it's not stay in my new little tummy long enough... I think I need like maybe .01 - but after last time I am sorta scared to get filled again - being to tight once was enough for me...

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Mlco- Welcome - AthinnerDenise is the longest person out who still post on this thread and I think she was banded in late 06 - I know that you totally get the memory lapses at our age. If you want my opnion - yes I think 1200 is a good # and if you vary it to from day to day it helps - 1200 is my max calorie budget # and it's done well for me...

Ya when I read that this morning - I was thinking we have 3 weeks from this Friday - or Thursday really - I flight out Friday Morning get to St Paul around 1 or 2 - don't remember... I have ton's of clothes but not that many that I can pack now - espeically underwear
  18. I am glad neither took offense - I just wanted to make sure that you both knew that it wasn't directed at anyone - it's just when I see self paid vs insurance it's like the insurance pple don't take the surgery seriously. Heck for me that was the ah ha moment having surgery - it woke me up that no matter what you do it requires work and it's a total lifetime lifestyle change that all the other programs preach - but with our little tool it makes the job of losing weight just a little eaiser... Hugs...

    Smoking

I was told he wanted you to quit 3 months before surgery - well my 1st visit was 5/31 and surgery on 7/17 - so no 3 month period in between consultation and actual surgery - I had lung test heart test - I did quit for 10 days put was smoking again right before surgery - heck asking me to give up food and cigs at the same time - cruel & unusual punishment.. I told the anesthesiologist that I had cheated and smoked the night before - they still operated on me - and again pple quit before surgery and go back after - The boards hate smokers more than the hate obesity - it's just another addiction that pple don't understand the alcoholic (obese) person thinks their habit is not as bad as a druggies (smoker) - reformed smoker can be the worst.. This is a load question - you need to ck with your doctor - not the board.. There are still a few smokers among us... We just don't advertize
  20. Ilse - take out the word Nanook and replace with Ilse - this wasn't direct and either one of you and I didn't say that you guys said it - I was just making a point - that on some threads that I had read (not directed at anyone here) that this seemed to be some pple's train of thought... That's it - as stated didn't mean to offend anyone here - I was just making a statement.... On the issue of some self payers attitudes.. and you lef of this part of the quote on what I said - Again no offense directed at you Nanook/Ilse - just talking on the point of self pay vs insurance in general..

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Nancy - We are so programed not to eat on a "diet" but remember this is not a diet - this is a life style change for the rest of our lives... Under eating can cause your body to hold on to those fat cells - our bodies were built to help us survive during food shortages - which we no longer have - so make sure you eat breakfast - just vary your calories - eat healthy foods (lower in fat - lower in sugar and refined carbs) Welcome Rousabout - You are too funny - you will be a great addition to our group - I admire all your careers - I have only had one - Hi Denise - I was wonder where you were - When others want to compare their weight lost to others - I tell them we are all diff - and some will not lose as fast as others - but if they keep plugging along they will succeed just like you... You are a prime example that hard work - tenacity pays off.. You are an inspiration... Lynn - it's not just the protein factor in hair loss - many get all their protein and still lose their hair - my hair dresses says that its the lack of fat in our diets that is doing it - so make sure you get healthy fat. and of course I am a BIG advocate of tracking your calories especially as a learning tool Good Job... Jean - Welcome and congrats on your 40 lbs gone - you are doing really great - We are a great group...

Linda - We all have our little temper tantrums :biggrin2: especially when we are tried and want to eat - eat - eat - Oh ya I miss it - I miss my comfort foods - I want brownies - I want to eat the whole thing - not one piece but what I don't miss is sleeping my weekends away - not having any energy - shopping in the BBW section only -

    Whee!

Edel - I set my own goal - originally 170 - then moved it to 160 - now I am 150 - 145 will give me a normal bmi - I am striving for that # - but it's really up to you - At first I never thought 170 was attainable - then never thought 160 was - but I now know that it is ... IMHO - I would really strive for the healthy bmi - it's doable... but it's really up to you...
