Karri - What does fainting 20 ft from the bathroom got to do with a gosh darn thang???? Fainting is Fainting - I fainted once when I was like 22 - to this day don't know why I had laid out in the sun - ate fish for dinner - went to a party (at my bro's house) had one of those cocktails in a can (yep when you are young you drink those) and fainted.. I bet it was the heat - blood sugar - stress - I am glad you really didn't hurt yourself any worse than you did - it could have been worse - - You need to rest - eat and let that darling dh of yours baby you... Again how old is his dad - is he single or maybe he has an older uncle - Now with a man like that I think I could get back in the loop Phyl Yep a little sad to see them leave - know it's the best thing for them not to be here and they aren't that far away and some things I won't miss like having to pick gd's up from school - They really like it up there and they have my sis & cousins - so they are fine and that's all I really care about.. On top of that all of a sudden I am spotting - so I think hormones have some play in this - well at least it's not a full fledge visiit (from aunt flo) - but it's a little aggrevating to keep getting these surprise visits every 6 months. I am having scallops for dinner - went by costco after work and go some -then realized I have left overs from last night -but they will be good for another day - I want the fish tonight... Can't beleive it's 7 already... Well gotta go feed the dogs - start my dinner - I do have to say that this afternoon I wasn't hungry - I ate the whole cobb salad (it was the small one) and had the dressing so would say 400 calories - plus fiberone bar for bf 130 (apple struddle really good) Omw just realized I don't have any evoo - i aready undressed - well maybe it will be the left overs for dinner and scallops tomorrow... CBL:tongue:

    Let's play a game!

Freedom ......... (is it ok if I play even if I'm not a Feb bander )
  4. IndioGirl55

    when did you start solids?

It depends on what your doc says - some pple at 4 weeks get regular food - but watch out for the dressing - that's always been my downfall..
  5. Darling - Why are you so pissed... I wasn't nasty or yelling at you.. Be careful your age is showing and usually pple usually get pissed when you are hitting upon the truth that they don't want to admit to. #1 I was banded as I wanted to extend my life - I want to see my grandkids get married and hopefully some great grand kids #2 I wanted to improve the quality of my life - my obesity was limiting my life and what I could do physically #3 Yes I love the secondary benefits of losing the excess weight - never said I didn't but it wasn't the reason that I got banded - The excess saggy skin isn't pretty but I will take it any day over the fat that use to be in it's place #4 I never said I felt great when I was obese or that I was happy when I was obese (heck I couldn't walk from here to there without being exhausted - I sleep my weekends away - just vacuuming the house I would break out in a sweat) - I didn't want to stay obese because the fat was going to kill me. Here's a link that will explain to you that being obese is going to kill more pple than smoking - it's on it's way to being the #1 killer of pple Death Rate From Obesity Gains Fast On Smoking - New York Times #5 As to living in a beach town what's that got to do with the price of tea in china - at 245 I went on a cruise - I put on a bathing suit - and didn't wear a tee shirt or shorts to swim - I got in the ocean & pools fat and all - I am who I am - I am what I am In fact as I took off my cover up to get in the ocean - I warned the pple next to me that it wasn't going to be a pretty site. The same thing goes for now at 150 - i will put on a bathing suit and instead of fat you are going to see saggy skin - but again I am what I am - I am who I am - and what anyone thinks who gives a flying "F" I am not ruled by what society thinks - at my age I have gotten past that - and really gotta say it's never been a biggie to me #6 - There is a little saying that I like - I would rather be hated for who I am than Loved for who I am not.. You don't have to like me or agree with what I say - I was just telling you why pple were suspicious of you that's all #7 What I can tell you is I feel 200% better with the 100 lbs gone - I am no longer on blood pressure med - I am proud of myself for eating healthy and exercising. I am proud of myself for the work that I have done to become a healthier person - the looks are icing on the cake - but it's not the cake - the cake is that my body is no longer drowning and choaking in fat - that the fat is no longer killing me.. Hope fully (Lord willing) I have added a few more year to my life... Again I wish you all the best ....

I wish I could run away to a beach on one of the islands - sounds good right now... I am here - My son & family were here yesterday after work so I swam and visited with them last night and had 1/2 taco & 1/2 enchillada. Then this morning they had to go to the policie station to look at some photos so I had 4 yr GD with me at work til about 10 this morning - I was here trying to read - but she kept talking to me so I didn't reply the 13yr GD stayed with her GF I had to call her up and give her a hard time about not seeing me  They should be on their way home by now - sorta blue about that - but I am going to visit in the middle of August... Pouch test - girls I don't envy you - I am not doing it - funny last night 1/2 taco was stuckest - today had salad for lunch no problem and ate the whole thing... My weight is stable - did dip to 149.5 but not on my weigh in day so it didn't count (was 150 this morning) but sure did like seeing that 4 :biggrin2: I eat cearal about once every couple of months and I don't care about the liquid issue - it's not enough to count - I eat real Soup (broth meat veggies tatos) same thing liquid with food - don't care. it's healthy and that's what I focus on - eatig healthy !!!! I don't drink with meals or right after - I can't do oranges either the pith (the white stringy stuff) is too much for me (haven't tried in a while but since I am looser right now I bet I could) - but all the rest of the fruits i can do.. Karri - OMG you don't have a/c and it's 100 degrees - yep could be the heat and not enough food.. Let us know how the appointment went. Well, I gotta do a big application - so better get busy... I will CBL:tongue: I am a live and well - and thanks' for missing me

    I'm here to help...

Becky I think you do have good restriction - as to cutting your carbs I am not an atkins girl - I really follow a WW type eating plan as I feel it's most balanced - My doc said to eat the weight control oatmeal it's lower in sugar - 160 calories - I switch to the high Fiber this week - same calories but more sugar - but need the fiber and only eat oatmeal once a week - At to getting stuck - small bites and chew really well and don't eat fast - but even doing that sometime you may get stuck - one day you can eat something and the next you can't our bands are really fickled. See above explaination to Long about fills - I covered the fluro - you drink something and they have an xray machine watching the liquid going thru your new tummy to your old.. Well, my son and family just came - so I gotta cut this short - I will respond more tomorrow... Hugs. Oh i ALMOST FORGOT CONGRATS ON THE 2 LBS  YOU ARE DOING GREAT :smile2:
  9. GDC We wonder about your post due to the fact that it it a bit suspicious Why you ask?? #1 you are concerned about the scarring - what's worse a couple little scars that will heal and fade eventually or your obesity.. Which would you rather have - a few scars or the fat #2 that 1st pic we thought was you - it's not It's what you hope to look like #3 your bikini & wedding dress are beautiful - but depending on your skin issue & DNA after losing the weight and your exercise - are you really going to look like these pictures?? Are you setting yourself up for failure cuz after losing a considerable amount of weight - we don't know that you will look like those girls. Will you have rock hard abs - ??? #4 you talk more about your looks and doing this for the man who loves you as you are now - what about your health?? #5 you ask more questions about superficial questions - scars bikinis than real questions like what does it take to be a successful bander - what's bp what's slime - how do I get a ticker - how do you feel now that you are at goal - what kind of food do you eat - what exercise are you doing.. #6 - have you even dealt with why you gained 70 lbs to begin with.. The band is more head work than just the restriction that you have when properly adjusted - Your band doesn't make your food choices - your band doesn't exercise - we eat when we aren't hungry to soothe our feeling to comfort us. You don't need to see pic of pple in bathing suits - go look at the before and after pics - for all we know you are a troll who just wants to see pics of girls in their swimsuit - cuz your first post are more about the stuff that we don't really care about - most newbie post questions i mentioned before - This is the Internet you could be anyone and as I said before for most of us this is more about the health than the physical beauty aspect ya we love that we look better can buy clothes in the regular stores - but that wasn't the main reason most of us got banded Good luck on your journey - be happy and I wish you a wonderful wedding.

    when did you start solids?

Try just cutting them up and put in sugar free pudding... I was on 2 blood pressure meds to begin with - one was a sorta big I cut it into 3's and put in my pudding - the other one is tiny tab so had no problem taking that one whole. But great NSV - I no longer take any blood pressure meds
  11. If that's you - why the band - you sure don't look obese in that picture

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hey Gang Denise would love to meet you all in AZ - yep it would be blast - next time you head that way let me know - I have plans for August already.. So maybe next time you all get together.. Carol - my Vegas trip was about the band - mostly about our imput on what they need to do to give new banders better info.. It was nice to met other banders from all around the country. I totally get the feeling thinner - I went from 18/20 pant to a 14 and thought I was looking hot - just wait - when you get the rest off - you are going to feel like a super model (well you just got to overlook some of the skin issues) GD - Congrats on your 45 lbs - thats super WTG:thumbup: Lynn- I guess I am a lucky one - I don't have a problem with rice - but ya once you get stuck - you will tend to stay away from that food for a while Charlene - 3 lbs in a week is good - I know you are starving so you feel like it should be 10 lbs in that week but it just doesn't work like that even though we think it should .. Yep the liquid diet sucks big time - but like Peaches said - next year at this time you are going to feel 100% better and you won't even remember the liquid diet - it's like having kids - it hurts like hell but then you see their little faces and forget about the pain. I was lucky - I convienced my doc to let me have fish and salad for dinner during my pre-op - but I only had 1 week preop... Keep up the good work and rant rave all you want - we understand...

    I'm here to help...

Cathy - Good job on your exercise!!!! I am glad that you have move on to hard Proteins - it will keep you full longer. Jill Just as I was telling a GF at work who is dieting trying to lose 20 lbs and nothings coming off - it's cuz she is not eating enough - she said "I'm Old School" to lose weight you don't eat - I told her that was WRONG that you need to eat to lose weight and if she kept that kind of thinking she wasn't going to lose the weight. You do have to move to hard proteins - you will get full faster and stay full longer - you just need to watch your overall calorie contents - on mushies 3/4 cup to get you full on hard protein it will be 1/2 c or less Try it - have 3 oz of steak for dinner - but make sure it's soft meat and chew very well - tiny bites eraser size .. Great job on the exercise - I started slowly and worked myself up - so that I didn't burn myself out - I too HATED EXERCISE - BUT now can't say I am a gym rat - but I do go 4 days a week and I do feel better after doing it... You will come to enjoy it and the accomplishment of having the disciplined of going You guy are doing fantastic - keep up the good work:thumbup:

Good Mornin Gang... I've been up since 5 - but not on the computer Candice Lake sound fun - enjoy your time - relax and yep fresh fish - sounds good I am hungry right now. Ruby Teeth - OMG your dentist in TX is cheaper than here - I got a 4 part bridge 2 fake teeth and 2 crown - I think the bill was like $4000 - insurance paid 1/2 ... Implants here are expensive and I haven't really heard alot of good about them - they take along time - So my vote is for the partials and yep you need them - you gotta be able to chew... Phyl Love your telling what's on sale this week - great idea... Ok not much to report since last night another day - work  Oh ya Linda - make sure you bring your spanxs & good bra for trying on your dresses... You must be busy - we havent heard from you in a few days... Ok off to see whats on the schedule today... CBL

Yep it sounds like a blind fill - but my doc keeps me in the room with the needle in me until he is sure that I am not to tight - why take it out to have to re-stick you.. But that's not always a guarentee that you won't get to tight after a few days - when I was too tight in January - I drank even had a Protein drink but in a day or 2 got tight. Me personally I like eating 1 cup of food per meal - mentally I need to eat that much - there are pple here who like to be so tight that they only eat 1/4 to 1/2 cup per meal - being too tight can cause problems too. And for me I don't find that it really takes away all my hunger - I still have major head hunger issues and even now almost a year out - I know I am full but still want to eat... and sometime I am just plain a$$ hungry.. You are doing super on your weight loss:thumbup: - keep up the great work:thumbup:- hows the exercise going??
  18. IndioGirl55

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hey Carol - No I am not a 4 - my trainer thought I was - I am a 6 but I do have one pair of jeans in the closet that say 4 - but they gotta be a large 4.. Yep I am just a big mouth  To bad we are missing each other by a week ... I'm jealous

    I'm here to help...

Luvliwon I am here for you... When were you banded - what food stage are you on? What do you mean about negativity from pple close to you.. Gotta give you for warning - I give tough band love (operative word being love) But I will tell you that you are going to have to do the work if you want to be a successful bander. They banded your tummy not your brain - the band doesn't make your food choices you do - the band doesn't exercise you do. The band is a tool to help control your portions only - you gotta do the rest.. You gotta take the word diet out of your vocabulary and replace it with eating healthy - diets don't work cuz when you go off them and go back to eating normal (which is what got us fat in the first place) you gain all your weight back.. This is a lifetime lifestyle change in your eating and physical activity level - this isn't about your look - it's about being healthy and extending your life - yes the secondary part is how we look and how other perceive us but for me first of all it was about improving the quality of my life and extending the number of years I have left. Let me know what you need help on or what questions you have ...
  20. IndioGirl55

    I'm here to help...

Yep we all wonder what that 1st fill will be like -:wink2: Just like we want to know what slime or bp feels like too:lol: Does your doc do fills under fluro (xray) or blind (you just drink Water as he inserts the saline into your band) My doc does blind fills - he gives me a numming shot first around my port and the 1st time it took a bit of poking for him to find the soft center - but because I was numb -it wasn't a biggie - he then insert the saline into your band as you drink water or barium (not sure of the exact name since I don't have the fluro fills but with them they can see how the Fluid goes thru the band on the xray machine) I drink water and he ask how it is going thru the band - if the band is too tight it does go down - he take some out and has you drink some more - I ususally drink 2 cup of water during a fill - the 1st fill I felt right away but it only lasted a couple of weeks then went for my 2nd fill and got to my sweet spot (that one took a week to totally settle in) No it didn't hurt at all you don't feel the band inside you.. After a fill my doc wants you to go back on the post op diet stages (liquids/mushie/soft/reg) for 7 days each stage - I did it on my 1st fill now I do a couple days liquids - then soft/mushie then regular. Do you still have restriction?? How much are you eating per meal - you may not even need a fill if you have restriction - pple can go 6 months and not need a fill - the band in place gives them enough restriction. When I went in Dec the doc wouldn't give me a fill cuz I had lost 17 lbs in 2 months - when back in January for a tweak was too tight and he had to take out most of what he had added - ended up with a .01 cc being added - I have 5 in my band now - don't know if its a 10 or 14 just know that its a large new AP band I wasn't one who cared how much they put in - all I cared about is if it worked or not - the only reason I know is that when I went in January he put in 1 whole cc and took out .09 and told me I had 5 cc Me personally if your doc doesn't give the numbing shot I would ask for it - but some don't and they don't have a problem - after the first fill they mark your chart as to where your soft spot in your port is.. I hope I answered your questions - I am not super technical in explaining medical stuff - ask my about your auto insurance - or business insurance and I can get all techincal on you cuz that's what I do...

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Deb Yep slider foods are very dangerous :wink2: and after a while we can lose track of what we eat - I don't know if you ever tracked your calories but between eating more hard protiens and tracking your food - you maybe able to get back in to the weight lost mode. Even before the news broke today about keeping a food diary - it is something I have done from day one - I learn this in WW yrs ago. For me it is a good way of keeping track what goes in my mouth - I have a freind who does this when she wants to lose a couple of lbs (she is thin no weight problems) I asked her how she keeps her weight down - well when she gains a few - then she track to get back in to a healthier eating mode. As for the acid refux - can't help much there I get a little heart burn every now and then even from drinking water - but if i chew some gum it goes away... Call your doctor would be your best bet..

    I'm here to help...

Hey Becky Yep sometimes it takes awhile to figure the whole ticker thingie out - it's not simple :wink2: Sounds like you are doing good on your eating - and yes your weight loss is going to slow - you may lose only 1/2 a pound one week then the next week 1 - just average it - that's what I have done - and there may be a week that you don't lose - but just keep plugging along and it will come. We want it to happen overnight - but we didn't get obese over night - so just do the work and it will come off... I am glad you are moving to weighing in only once a week - that's good for your sanity... Keep up the good work:thumbup: - I am proud of you for the changes that you are making in your life... Well, my 2 little fur babies want to be fed and I am a bit peckish (english term for being hungry ) so am off to see what I can fix for dinner - have some ground turkey just gotta figure out what to make with it :tongue2: So will ck back later My food for the day - high Fiber oatmeal 160 c - lunch ground turkey w/cabbage bell pepper onion (one pot wonder) 200 c - snack 10 wasabe almonds 125 c- dinner ??? but it should be around 300 - 400 calories and dessert another 200 calories max. 3 miles on the treadmill at the gym..

Denise - Hugs on the Mom issues - I know how hard this is... Just telll your dear old doc you want a good fill- did you know how much was in before your unfil - it you were a tad tight at that amount - go for just a little under that amount... Ruby Thanks - I have been thinking about you - been missing you - I don't know how you say you aren't a pple person - you are really good at expressing yourself here - Is your stepson's mom in the service and that's why he is coming from Germany.. I was lucky I never had a problem with my Stepkids - they liked me better than their own parents.. You will do fine - how long will he be here for... You will make it to goal - remember that banders really are given 2 yrs to get their weight off - yes some have done it a little sooner - but we are not the norm - so you can't judge yourself by anyones standards but your own - we all have approached this journey from a diff direction - Karri is a high protein girl- I am the limited carb girl - Kari eats her carb - We have to do what works for us - for me it was not to put too much pressure on myself - but to challenge myself at the same time - a big balancing act - but so far it has worked out - I believe that you will get to your goal weight in your time.. OMG pb's on a shake - it must have been thick - and yes you have alot on your shoulders right now (Hugs) - How did the cat scan come out... Kari GF we are here for you and yep I totally understand your frustrations but we do have to expect a little plateau every now and then... I am proud of you for not hitting the candy - cookies etc... Way to go !!!!
  24. I agree with both BBK & Denise - We now deal with our issue without the food - I really beleive it's the whole mind set - the band doesn't make my food choices I do - the band doesnt go to the gym 4 days a week I do I had major surgery to get this tool - I was tried of being fat and that fattness limited the quality of my life. The band is the perfect tool for me - it gives me the portion control that I need - I can't say like so many that I am not hungry - but I have learned to deal with my head hunger issue and to be able to idenify the diff between head hunger vs real hunger.. The band does make a hard job easier - but it's still work..
  25. IndioGirl55

    when did you start solids?

Joiful - Just cuz you can doesn't mean you should - they banded your tummy not your brain - the band isn't going to make your food choices for you - Then only control you have is what you put in your mouth - there are better choices than a big mac to get your protein - Your band is not the magical answer to your issue with food - Ya we all are food addict - the band is the tool to help control your portions once you have proper restriction - but even then you can eat around it - candy ice cream chips etc all go down real easy even at your sweet spot. I am sorry that your doc didn't provide you with the information that you need in order to be successful with your band - so here is a short version of what you need to do 800-1200 calories a day - keep a food diary (dailyplate.com or fitday.com) minimum 60 grms of protein a day (1 oz meat - 7 grms of protein) 64 oz of Water (crystal lite) no drinking 1/2 hr before or after a meal - No Soda - Eat low fat - sugar free - limited starches/refined carbs - Eat protein first - then veggies and carbs if room. Read food labels for calories and protein in anything you eat - They have ton's of protein powders out there to get your protein - unjury - whey Protein - go to the diet section at Walmart or go to a GNC you will find tons of diff kind of stuff.. Go to the food thread to get ideas of what to eat on each phase - at least 10 days full liquids - 10 days mushie - 10 days soft - then regular food - I have attached a sample menu for when you get to the reg food stage (but fish is considered a mushie) I hope that your complications are getting better - Hugs for the complication in your life right now - but darling food isn't going to make them go away or in fact eating isn't really going to fix any of it - You can do this you just have to make the commitment to do something for just you reward yourself with a healthier life - The only real control you have is what you are eating and to know that and control it is empowering.. Good luck on your journey - I really hope that things work out for you...
