Veronica - Hugs for your stuggles - Sound like you have restriction.. If you really want this to work then you have to be prepared to do the work cuz girlfriend the real work is up to you.. Being full w/the band is a different sensation that pre band - well at least it is for me - I will be physically full (eat 4 oz of Protein - then sit and think about your pouch ) I bet you 10 to 1 you will be full - Are you following the rules and eating pt 1st.. How much do you eat - what are you eating - are you exercising?? Go back to the basics - do the 5 day pouch test (google it) then when you move back to regular food - make sure you keep a food diary – track your pt – calories and exercise - keep your calories between 900-1200 and vary them daily and get minimum 4 days of exercise.. Besty - I really feel that WLS is advertised to be the fix all to our fatness - that it's the answer - when it's only a tool - to help us lose the weight - I feel that so many pple think that the surgery is going to do the majority of the work for them - so you aren't along in that presumption IMHO I have done 75% of the work by changing my eating and exercise habits and the band did 25% with it's restriction For me my band doesn't take away my hunger - ya it keeps me full on a smaller amount of food (as long as I follow the rules and always eat hard protein 1st) - but that doesn't stop my brain from wanting more food- it doesn't stop me from craving sugar and fried foods and I can eat all the candy in the world and the band isn't going to stop me.. If I chose to - I could eat around my band 24/7 and I am at my sweet spot - so truly yes restriction helps but it's more about your food choices - I eat healthy 98% of the time and allow for indulgances 2% The band is about restriction yes - but it's also about making the commitment to eat healthy and exercise - You got banded to lose the weight to become healthy - well being healthy is more than being able to eat 1 cup of food per meal.. It's about what you are eating and what kind of exercise you are doing - Peeps losing weight is simple math - consume less calorie (not by restriction alone but by combining it with healthy food choices) and burn more calories by exercising.. What worked for me - Follow the rules - No drinking w/meal - 60 grm of pt a day - low fat - sugar free - limited starches - tiny bites - eat slowly - chew - Always eat pt first then follow w/veggies and if any room have a starch.. Exercise 4 days a week
-
Welcome Betsy Jen Girl hate to tell you the band isn't going to do it for you ;0) - The real work is up to you.. How's your restriction?? What are you eating give us a typical days food .. What are you doing for exercise.. The secert to losing the weight eat healthy (low fat/limited sugar & starches)keeping your calories about 900-1200 daily and varying them and exercise

Whats the Difference in Starving?
IndioGirl55 replied to TaraRose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
# 1 Some pple who are banded do lose hair ... (so please don't be under the impression they don't) #2 With the band I eat normal protion size of food and feel food - 4 oz of pt is normal size 1/2 cup of veggies is normal size.. #3 Tell your GF that the band is not the quick fix that she thinks it is We can eat around our bands -We are limited to a degree on how much we can eat - depending on the food It will stop me from eating a 20 oz steak - but it's not going to stop me from eating 1/2 gallon of ice cream. It doesn't make my food choices for me - so if I want to eat high fat foods - candy (another slider) and bowles of mashed potatoes loaded with butter I'm not going to lose a dang pound. #4 It's only a tool and you will only be successful if you make the lifetime lifestyle change in your eating and exercise habits -
What does your daily menu look like?

Newbie Banded 7/17/07 starting weight 250 - current weight 136-138 - Lost my weight t in 1 yrs - They band your stomach not your head - WLS of any kind is just a tool - no matter which one you go for you have the make the committemnt to change you eating and exercise habits for the rest of your life - No surgery is the quick fix I have maintained my weight loss for 2.6 yrs - why cuz I don't diet - I eat healthy foods (low fat/sf/limited starches) and I go to they gym 4-5 times a week.. Every surgery has it's issues - Knock wood I haven't had any..

Calling all veteran lapbanders... 5 years or more
IndioGirl55 replied to Dune's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Banded 3.6 yrs - not your 5 yrs - but almost 4 ;0) They band our stomachs not our heads - The band will stop you from eating 20oz steak but not a gallon of ice cream. The band is just a tool - You do have to make the whole lifetime lifestyle (eat healthy & exercise) change if you want to be successful with any WLS I have had no problems (knock wood).. -

Joined the gym today. Who's with me?
IndioGirl55 replied to FinallyFree0812's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
WTG - Start slow and just work yourself up - don't make it such a chore that you won't go - I started out walking 20 min on the treadmill - every few weeks would increase it time/speed etc. Make sure you hit the weights too - muscle burns more calories - so the more muscles you have the more cal you will burn just breathing I joined the gym 2 weeks prior to surgery 7/07 - I have been going faithfully now for 3.6 yrs !!! IMHO to get healthy you have to do both - eat healthy & exercise.. I know that for me it's what helpped me lose 100 lbs in 11 months. My exercise consist of - weight training 2 x week - Bootcamp - Yoga/Pliates -

HUGS AND PRAYERS FOR YOUR MOM PHYL - Chilli sounds good - it's cold th morning and I'm hungry - have pt shake planned for br - should have made an omelett and brought that - but pt shake sounded good - but that's cuz I was in a nice warm house.. -
Good Morning Gang Apples I was going to complain about how cold it is - my car was left in the street last night (Andrew blocking driveway and after he left was to lazy to put it in the garage) omg there is a big diff in a car being in a garage vs the street - but nothing compared to -18 .... I would be ready for the warmer weather too.. Meredith ;0) - I love my vanilla cream ready made shake by pure pt - I add a banana and the PB2 (powdered peanut butter) and it's to die for - I want to get an ice cream maker and make it into ice cream - 200 cal approx and it makes a big shake so I would assume good amount of ice cream and 20 grms to boot.. I will have one in the evening as a snack. Take your butt to the store today.... Like apples said - get some deli sliced turkey - roast beef and eat that when you want to munch.. Eva - I'm not much motivated myself to work LOL - You get your exercise with all that yard work you do - WTG on stopping the grazing... IMHO that's where pple get in trouble - a bite of this or that and you think oh it doesn't count - well it does cuz everything has calories - I could sit and watch all day the humming birds- but if I had a feeder my cat would love it - she loves to hunt birds and bring me presents - luckly I have saved a few - not humming birds though - ;0) Julie - So glad Mimi has a Daddy !!!! Is she going to call him Daddy or is she already?? Hugs on your pain.. Linda - Yep we crave healthier food now a days - I know I do - Glad work has picked up - it's funny when it's busy we want slow when it's slow we want busy how come we can never seem to get just right ;0) Well I'm at work - on my 2nd cup of coffee - didn't get to bed till 11 - woke up a few time to potty (terrible side effect of Water lol) and am sleepy right now and it's 7:45... Have bootcamp tonite - ugh - I guess I will be having coffee this afternoon Planned food for the day BF - Pt Shake w/banana & PB2 lunch - Green salad & chicken dinner - Fish & Veggie (left over from last night) Snacks - ??????

Karla - Sound like a plan - I didn't go to bed til around 11 - which is a little late and had to get up to pee a couple of times - that's what I get for drinking my water LOL Hugs on the 5 degrees - I think its like 40 something here - it 66 in the house cuz the heater just came on.. Well off to finish my coffee cbl -
Continued Prayer Lori.... I've been terrible about water .... So that and vitimans ;0) You will do fine but as LauraK say - sending good ju ju your way where was your Protein ???
-
Melissa - Well don't know when Obama medical is going into affect - but that restriction is suppose to change - I know that here in Cali - if you are coming from one group to another (had prior insurance) I am pretty sure they have to cover you - I'll ck with the pple who handle our health insurance... Not to be political here - but everyone deserves to have health insurance at an affordable rate.. I don't understand if you got full time then Sam's Club would cover you - but a small group can exclude you - doesn't make sense.. But again I don't do health Insurance.. When you get in bed at night - take that time for you, have that be your mediation time. Thanks for the info Jessica - don't have time to try it - but now I know how (hopefully) Great - WTG !!!! Proud of you - it's going to take a couple of days but you will get through these withdrawls ;0) - I was reading somewhere that when you think you are hungry drink water cuz our bodies sometimes can't tell the diff - I know that I don't drink enough - so it's something I am going to try.. I guess I might have to try the zumba - how much does it cost?? It would be fun.. Well it's 8 - need to go cook - food today BF - 1/2 ck sandwich on one of those wheat thins Lunch - Chicken on top of a green salad Dinner - Baked Catfish & veggies Snacks - Popcorn & fudgscile..

How to attach a picture in a post?
IndioGirl55 replied to Humming Bird's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
Janet, First I upload the pic into the gallery on LBT. Then right click on the picture and select properties. The url for it will be there. Be sure you right click on the picture that is smaller in size, like the thumbnail. It will post the same size as the pic you right click on. The size is adjustable but that is a little more detailed. I got this from a friend in my thread who was able to post a pic in the thread - hope it helps - I haven't tried it - I'm late for the gym :0) -

Jessica - How did you insert picture - no one has been able to figure it out - we don't have urrl (or something like that) I don't think the cut is bad - color hard to tell - and since I first knew you as a blond that's how I think of you ;0) Meredith - You are taking the right steps - with planing your food - you go girl ! I'm w/Apple - give me words to deal with not #'s - they aren't my forte ;0) Apples 12 pairs of shoes LOL - You are a clothes horse arent you - I would take lets see 5 pairs of sandals - 1 pair tennis - 3-4 pairs of heels/wedges and maybe a pair of boots - say 10 pairs of shoes ;0) Melissa - I think you need to get to the root of why you are killing yourself... We love you and don't want you to die - Again have you tried to see what a group policy would be under your dh business - it might be cheaper than corba.. Charlene - I take lapband chewable vitiman - lapband chewable calcium and b12 too.. I think calcium/boition are both good for your nails. A lack of several different Vitamins and minerals can cause brittle nails. To treat brittle nails, try taking a Multivitamin with 100 percent of the daily value of the essential vitamins. A multivitamin and mineral combination may provide some added coverage for possible deficiencies. Deficiencies in Vitamin A and B vitamins have been associated with brittle nails. Iron and calcium deficiencies may also be to blame. These vitamins and minerals been associated with nail health and growth. But there are no studies that have proven that supplementing with these vitamins improves the condition of nails. A lack of vitamin H, also known as Biotin, may also lead to brittle nails. Two recent studies showed that taking biotin helped improve nail strength. While the evidence isn't especially strong, a biotin supplement may be worth trying if the nail condition bothers you. Biotin supplements come in doses of 300 to 1000 micrograms. Two doses of 1000 mcg with meals, in the morning and again at night, will provide doses similar to those used in research studies. If nausea, cramps, diarrhea, or other side effects develop, stop using it. Tina did they say why they cancelled - Hugs I know how dissappointed you are - well Thursday will be here before you know it.. Well back to work - have gym tonite...
