    OMG You have me cracking up !!!!! Ya he's with the driver rolling his eyes - telling you to behave :lol::eek: I am usually tighter at night than in the morning... I have had 3 bites of steak (not tiny ones - I know bad but I did chew) and I am full but still hungry... After a pb I usually wait like maybe an hour to finish my dinner - it all depends on how stuck I got - for me it's usually cuz I ate one bite too many... OK I am giving notice - Food Cop won't be on patrol next weekend... So here's the plan - one dessert divided by 6 - heck we most likely won't even have to worry about the 3 bite rule - 6 sharing one dessert - one bite each.... :eek:
  3. You should be fine to travel 4 weeks out - I was back to work day 6. You shouldn't have any issues - you won't even have your 1st fill yet and barely getting to regular food (depending on your doctor)... Why put it off - but that's just mho...

    Just got banded on 7/16/08

    Me !!!! That's exactly what I thought - but each day you feel better by the 3rd day I was doing really good - 4th day even better and back to work day 6.... Port site hurts the longest - but that goes a way in a couple of weeks. Wanta know how I feel 1 yr later.. LIKE A BRAND NEW PERSON !!! I HAVE 200% MORE ENGERY !!! I FEEL TEN YRS YOUNGER !!! I WOULD DO IT AGAIN IN A HEART BEAT !!! Here's what 100 lbs and year later looks like on a 50+ woman.. Work your band and this is what you can acheive - Remember it's only a tool - you gotta do the work by changing your eating habits & exercising - this is truly a lifetime lifestyle change..

    Karri Where are you girl - did you get to go walking today??? How are you feeling??? I may just follow in your footsteps and get some p.s. - at thanksgiving time.. Delima - though my sis turns 60 (the day after thanksgiving) so I thought I would go up there but if I get surgery i can't - well gotta see the surgeon 1st she might have requirements like have the weight off for 6 months or a yr.

    Long - Congrats on wearing the 5 yr old clothes - that's a Great NSV!!! I want to see Mama Mia too.. Enjoy your show., PJ - you would really have to ck with them but I bet it means 50 grms max - 1 oz protein = 7 grms protein... But double check with them - As for breakfast - you can have meat - it doesn't have to be breakfast foods - yogurt/furit - meat & veggie omeltte - I will have meat for breakfast some days - I don't like sweets in the morning too much - tuna salad chicken salads (make with lite mayo or fat free - I prefer lite) I did shake breakfast & lunch - had salmon and veggies or salad for dinner.. Charlene I hear you girl - When I start eating watch out just want to keep eating that band helps some - but I would say most of the work is up to me cuz I could eat slider food - but I really try and stay away from them... Food channel - fat chick's best freind - skinny's chick worse enemy... I have been watching the food channel when it first hit the air here in the desert about 17 yrs ago... I found watch it made me want to eat 24/7 so I quit watching it all the time like I use to way before I got banded - but emril - paula dean are my fav's pork fat & butter - uhm I miss it ...

    I got all my clothes that I am taking on one side of the closet - and I will pack Thursday night when I get home from the hair dressers Size of suitcase is a whole nother matter - cuz what I am taking would fit in my carry-on- but I won't have enough room when I return with my purchases :eek: Well who knows I might not find anything doubt it cuz they have stores we don't have here - blooningdales - and at the black/white store - I get free shipping - so I could ship those home and I think Nordstoms does that too... I think I will take a bigger suitcase so I will have room coming home and just ck my bag and they better not lose it..:eek: I had Starbucks new banana something yesterday with the whey protein and I had to go slow.. it didn't want to go down - thick and cold i guess. Candice I just wanted to know what everyone was taking as far as clothes goes.- really 84 is almost cold for me and 64 is cold for me :biggrin: but if I need a sweater I will just get one there.. Food Cop can't say much today as yesterday I grazed a bit - but did make up for it by going to the gym today and I RARELY ever go on Sunday's and today I had a salad for lunch - got the bbq going steak for dinner.. But I will say that you need to get some exercise tomorrow to make up for today and eat light tomorrow too :sneaky: oh i just thought of something - we need to get our picture taken and put on coffee mugs as our souvenies.... OK someone needs to remember this incase I don't... OK gotta go put the steak on...

    Lori yes that's normal and it's a stuck - most pple are tight in the mornings (I'm not I get tight after exercise) and can have a hard time with eggs.. I am like you I only get stuck for a short time - it either goes down or comes up - I'm not like some who seem to get stuck for hours.. It could be eating too fast or the bites - you just gotta remember what you did before it happens = we eat on auto pilot so sometimes its hard to remember - but when you first start to eat pay attention - that's usually when I get in trouble - those 1st few bites when I am hungry... Didn't your doc tell you to change to chewable Vitamins & calicum?? I have some petiti calicum pills - but I take them in the moring when my stomach is empty - I also have some small vit b pills but I just make sure that I take them before I eat or along time afterwards (after I know food had gone through pouch)

    Well back from the gym for a bit now - I guess I am a gym rat - I went on Sunday which I rarely ever do - but since I ate yesterday (oh ya forgot about the tato chips & sour cream (lite) 150 cal max) and haven't really worked out my hardest since my training partner has joined me.. I really did need to go sweat... Feel really good - the Power starts with you - Power is strenght.... those are the words painted on the walls at the gym.. Well I need to figure out what I am taking on our trip - ck out the weather forecast, plus I gotta get dog food - but don't want to get dressed.. cbl.... :thumbup:

    Thanks - The Look is just icing on the cake - what I love is feeling so much better having so much more energy... BeverlyDiane - It's not a dream it's possible... But I gotta tell you my original goal was 80 lbs (100 lbs seemed impossible in the beginning) - but once I got to 70 loss I realized I could push for 90 - then I just let the rest happened. Our weight loss is going to be diff for each of us - due to physical limitation - metabolism etc - So I just don't want any of you to get discouraged if it's not coming off as fast as you think it should - if you do your part and have proper restriction it will come off - maybe not as fast as others but remember the turtle won the race !!!! Prayers will be said for a safe surgery & speedy recovery on the 28th.. Pat Welcome !!! We are happy to have you - the 50 thread is one of the 1st threads I started with in the beginning of my journey - I found that I could relate and they were the most helpful - they are the ones who told me "the band is only a tool and not the magic cure all to our issues with food" They are the ones who prepared me for surgery answered my questions - Long - Of course GF I don't want you to hurt yourself more and then can't do anything - this is why I say we all should start out slowly and work our way up each week - for us who NEVER exercised prior to being banded - we gotta be careful not to injure ourselves . Again the turtle won the race and the little train did get up the hill :thumbup:. Charlene - Your doc says no caffeine?? I am sorry !!! I am lucky I can still have my coffee (1 or 2 cups max in the morning) & ice tea. You maybe like me - once I start eating it just fuels the desire to eat more.. Don't ask me why - but it's my addiction I guess - just like an alcoholic one drink is too much and 10 not enough - I am that way with food - I eat I am full but I still want to continue to eat and if I am busy doing stuff I don't even think about food .. Elaine - we have a food thread - go above to forums and look for the food thread - I too am a cook (I got fat from eating my own cooking I prefer home cooked foods to fast foods or restaurants ) It will give you ideas for diff protein drinks Pre-op will be determined by your doc - could be 2 shakes 1 meal (high protein low fat no carbs) or could be all protein shakes soups. Post op diet the same - some have clear liquids for a whole week or more some start out on full liquids which includes cream type soups. Pre op - I make my own chicken broth (it tasted better than canned) and the same went for the creamed soups most of the time - I just used my imagination - but changed my cooking from high fat to low fat - counted calories and protein grms - weighed & measured everything. I would make a pot of beans (pinto or navy) and puree the beans and add back to broth and I had cream of bean soup - which was more satisfying that the canned stuff MaryD - Welcome!!! Yes you are giving yourself the best present you can. Gotta whats your bmi - I thought that 40 bmi with out co-mobities was usually approved.. I really can't help on the appealing to the insurance issue cuz my bmi was 42 with high blood pressure and sleep apena - so I was approved right away (but again 42 was morbidity obese) Have you ck'd out the insurance thread - I think you will find help there on appealing to your insurance Good luck..

    Kari - Congrats on the XL thats great and acheivment in its self :teeth_smile: Be happy... btw my dresses are 10's for some reason and even 12 - I don't know why but that's what fits.. I and was thinking this morning I gotta start figuring out what to take for our trip - I gotta be at the airport 4:45 a.m. on Friday - plane leaves at 6 a.m Phyl - you had a large fill - becareful that you aren't too tight... but I see that you did get something in for dinner.. 1 cc is alot per my doc.. When do you get on train?? 4 more days.... or sleeps like Candice says (not counting today) Steph I am tempted to go to the gym this morning so that I can really push up my pace - Yes I can be nice but not so nice that I am not going to complain a bit to you guys so that doesn't help my karma - yesterday wasn't a good food day for me - cuz I was tired - I had some almonds (170)- 2 pieces of sf lemon cake (260 calores) soup for dinner (??? 300) - some jalapeno bread (200 includes butter) popcorn (100) 2 puddings (120) just seems like I ate alot of food (grazing) am alot of starches - I am no longer keeping food log (well at least for now - we will see how the maintaining goes - if I start gaining then I am going back to it - but I do keep a tally in my head - but worry about my forgetfullness - you know a bite of this or that :thumbup:) Well, I am going to the gym - see what you guys do for me - you just made me realize that I gotta get my butt in gear - I need the exercise...     Hi Ellen & Welcome... Yep Grandma's can do this too :thumbup: For us it's about our health and being around for our grandkids. Just remember this is not a diet - this really is a lifetime lifestyle change in our eating & exercise habits - the band is the tool that will help up accomplish those new habits. As far as the band goes - I am prejudice - I have the new AP band (allergen - that came out last July ) I really don't know anything about the realized band - I would say it's up to your doctor.. Lori - Ok you and Ellen - we have t.v. stars among in our little group - how cool is that - and you are the jedi knight (really all you are) cuz you are listening and repeating my mantra - this is a tool it's about eating healthy - exercising and planing... Taking hope our and replacing it with I will.. Becky - Sometimes we just get tired (we do have to face our age issues:tongue:) I was beat yesterday - I hadn't sleep well for a few nights between GS coming in late - dogs barking tooth etc) Yesterday got nails done and food shopping (made abondagas Mex Meatball Soup with ground turkey) and that was it - I was beat - a girlfriend came over for dinner - we gabbed - she left and I was in bed by 10 - finally got some rest - I slept in til 7 which is late for me... Eating everything but in limit portions means your band is working.. Your dinner didn't sound like enough to me just a piece of cheese and ham but again I am a dinner person - I guess it goes back to my childhood when we all sat down together and ate.. Yes as you all know I am a total WW girl as I think it is the most balanced eating plan out there - you get protein - starches - veggies - dessert - You get real food Yes, you most likely need a fill at your next appointment - depending on your weight loss (good girl on weight only 1 week) and the amount of food you can consume at one sitting - You need to try some hard Proteins like steak, chicken even hamburger - to test your restriction - and you need some veggies - are you taking your chewable Vitamins??

    Alice - 5 lbs a month and he won't fill you - that's a little low imho - I lost 17 in 2 months and my doc wouldn't fill - but that's understandable - but 5 lbs - well that's 1.25 lbs a week which is good loss - and that's going to teach to better eating habits - sound's like he is making his patients work for the weight loss and not to just rely on their bands - some docs do let their patient have their bands really tight - which isn't good either - it's so hard to find the happy medium.. Jb- Have fun !!! Booklady - Line dance is fun - did it back in the early 90's "achie breaky heart - boot scoot boggie" Long you are doing great on the exercise and you gotta watch out for that knee - I am a firm believer in starting out slow and working into it - if you make it so hard (exercise) where it's not enjoyable you are going to quit - so do make it enjoyable and don't hurt yourself.. Lynn I am jealous - beach - sand - Water - books - My kind of vacation.. Elaine - it's normal to have the doubts - but this is for you - this is the tool that you feel you need - I had pple tell me I didn't need surgery - I wasn't fat (250 @5'4 - ya I was fat) I did this cuz I wanted to - and this is a great part of being in your 50's you don't need approval of others - you can do what you want... This is your life - your health - it's about you and not them - so don't worry - tell them if you choose - or don't and if they give you a rash of crap - tell them that you feel you need the help of this tool to make yourself healthier. Hugs - I guess I was lucky no one really tried to talk me out of it - but they couldn't anyway - once my mind is made up it's made up.. 2bthinagain - Congrats on your 50 lbs LOST - that's whay you have to concentrate on If you aren't able to exercise this is going to slow your weight lost down -Keep up the pool walking That great form of exercise... - get yourself some dumbells & or/bands and you can work your arms while watching t.v. - You may need a fill - when was your last one - how many calories are you eating a day - are you logging your food intake - I think that this is a good learning tool - dailyplate.com or fitday.com. What is your typical daily menu .. Are you eating real eggs or eggbeaters (just as good but 1/2 the calories) Most of all you have to be happy that you are 50 lbs lighter than you were - that is a fantastic thing - this is not a race - we all lose weight at different rates and we can't compare ourselfs to each other - this isn't a competition - (even though friendly competition can be a good motivator) Just keep up the good work - you are succeeding - and you will be able to do more (exercise) as the weight comes of - just be like the little train... I Know I can I know I can = and you will :smile: PJ - You all are taking the word hope out of your vocabularies and replacing it with WILL!!!! I LOVE IT! -------------------- I am attaching proof that the band works as long as you do the work.... Yesterday - I was able to shop on El Paseo (it's like Beverly Hills - Rodeo Drive here in the Desert) And this was my reward to myself for reaching goal weight - Walked in to a shop called Black/White - at first felt like an imposter - went to a rack with white jeans - pulled out a 6 and had the lady start a dressing room - Well you know what - those 6 fit.. I still am astounded by this - I know I am thinner than a year ago - but I just don't see myself as small as I am.. But if I can fit size six I am small - so that was some validation and hopefully my brain will catch up with my body..

    Nothing wrong with being a Princess - You are... Not ready to give up my cigs - I can do 10 incline on the treadmill so I can climb the mountain :biggrin2: I wouldn't like to bugs either ... So I would have to spray myself with deat (sp) and wear the bug suit... -------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok back from gym - I really prefer to workout alone - my partner is just starting and it's slowing me down some (only did 2 miles today) and I miss listening to my music - I did put in one ear phone for like 2 songs - but feel it's rude to be listening to music and she isn't. Hopefully next Tues when she comes - she will have her ipod... Well, I gotta get in the shower and get ready for my day - it's 84 with 72% humdity - feels like 92 - yesterday car said it was 115 so our summer has finally arrived :wink2:- got my elect bill but havent opened it yet:confused: Well - I am off - CBL :scared2:

    Good Morning Gang.. No sleep for the wicked... Between GS coming home (dogs barking) then getting in the pool (more barking) then getting back to sleep then dogs wanting up on the bed - I have been up since 5:30 :scared2: Now getting ready to head to the gym to meet with my trainer partner (my trainer want me to get her motivated) Today's agenda - Nails - food shopping - gf coming over tonite for dinner and video.... Maybe I can get a nap in.. Steph - I love diamonique - I but lost one once (on my honeymoon) and I was sick for weeks - still get sick when I think about it (they were my stepmom's) -have diamond earrings (dh replaced the ones i lost) - so now my earrings are diamonique.. If I lose one so what - and know one would know the diff... Karri I am just still so in awe of my body - I just can't beleive I am a six - when I get ps (yes i am doing it Monday going to call the p.s. that my doc referred me to to make an appt - eye - arms and the 2 major areas - but will ck the cost for body lift and boob lift - don't want fake boobs but would like them lifted I don't care that they are small) After all that I would be less than a 4 too - you are most likely a 2 now. Ok just ck'd the time - I gotta split... Cbl

    Hey Kristen - I was wondering about you - I thought I p.m. you a while back- Your fur babie is cute - I voted - Please try and come back- tomorrow's you Band Anniversay !!! Phyl - Went to the dentist - and finally made it to El Paseo (it's the Rodeo Dr of the Desert - All you non-Ca or USA pple know Rodeo Dr) Went to a store called Black & White - and I think it's setting in that I am small - I can go get a size 6 and it fits... Even White jeans.. Then went across the street and visited with my GF who I haven't seen in ages - in fact she's my son's godmother - We have been friends since 3rd grade... I say Creative Salon and thougth to myself -that's where kathy works.. So visited her for a while.. Then went to the mall - go a dress for $ 17 and OH YA bought a PALM SPRINGS LIFE MAGAZINE - My interview is in it... I will copy on Monday when I go to work and scan and attached... But that was it - all the stores are having summer clearances - and not much to choose from - came home... Candice - The bugs are that bad to have to where that netting - OMW I have never been anywhere that bugs were that bad - I would not like that how could I smoke in that suit :thumbup: Steph Well - when we go to the QVC store - I will show you what to do :biggrin2: Kari Loved it - are you feeling better.. Kathy Yep a week from today - we should all be having cocktails about this time. well lets see in Minn it's 3 hrs diff so ya 9 p.m. heck we may be asleep...     Muszkluvr JoannMarie is right - 16 lbs in 6 weeks is 2.67 lbs a week - We think that cuz we are eating 1/4 of what we ate before we should be losing 2 bs a day :drool: but it just doesn't work that way - it didn't come on over night it's not going to come off over night - like Joannmarie said 1-2 a week - but I will tell you there were weeks that i only lost 1/2 lb - I was happy with that - if you eat healthy - exercise (which it sounds like you are doing )it will come off. If you are a slow loser so be it - you still are a loser :thumbup: and this isn't a diet - it's a lifetime lifestyle change Good luck on your journey - keep us posted

    Hi Valleylady - This thread really doesn't get alot of action. Can't help with the surgeon cuz I am in the palm springs area... but suggestion ck your insurance first - if they do cover it you may have to go to their docs I had blue cross CA and i was required to go to a center of excellence for my surgery to be covered... Insurance is the 1st place to start - unless you are going to be self pay.. Good luck on your journey - I love my band - yesterday was my 1 yr anniversary 102 lbs lighter :wub: Know it's only a tool - they band your tummy not your brain - you will have to change your eating - this is true a lifetime lifestyle change in your eating - and adding physical activity too to your daily life. If you do your part the band will do it's... Again good luck - and LBT is a great site for info and support..
