    Becky - Take it one day at a time - don't worry about the scale so much - some weeks it may not show a loss but your clothes will feel loser - just stay on your game plan - as long as you do that this does work - I still am so surprised that it has worked. I have never been a big chip eater myself - but the urge does hit me everynow and then - I buy pringles that are made with the olersar (sp the fake fat stuff) 14 chips for like 70 calories with a little light sour creams - Getthin.. We are suppose to take the liquid stuff and that's what I do - expecially 10 days out - I would not take the pills you are still healing. The leg cramps could be lack of potasium (sp) but I am no doctor - so you must call your gp and talk to him or her about that and your swelling - and I would think that if you think you have blood clots that your insurance would cover your doc's visit - you insurance may have excluded lap band but it covers you for other medical problems - this would be a separate problem.. Nancy You just have to plan - that's it - you take your food for Breakfast - lunch and dinner to work with you - on your days off you cook for the days that you work. That's what I do - I don't work 12 hrs shifts but I am at work at 7 - 7:30 so I plan my breakfast & lunchs for work - I cook on Sunday's for my lunch for the week. I totally get the eating to stuff down feelings - I think we all do that - I used food to self medicate - eating makes me sleepy - eat - sleep - eat sleep that was my life... Eating fast - ya don't know why we think we have to eat so fast like the food is going to dissappear.. or that it won't be there for the next meal... Like I always say - this is just as much a mental thing for us - we have the help with the physical - but we gotta work on the mental part to be successful.. The band mades a hard job easier - but we still have to do the work. Ellen You need to up those calories - we aren't meant to live on 400 calorie your body is hanging on to the fat as it thinks you are starving - and limiting yourself so much can cause to go back to over eating - you have to find a good balance - eating healthy is about eating not starving yourself - low fat foods - limited refined carbs - lower sugar foods and phyiscal activity - this is the key - we aren't dieting we are learning a new healthy lifetime change in our eating.. PJ - I do have the smaller pills and will take them in a pinch if I am out of the liquid stuff - but I make sure I take them on an empty stomach - the liquid stuff works faster.. But for you who are newly banded - you really gotta follow your doc's order - and stick with the liquid stuff..

    BevDi - Thanks for missing us - I have been busy at work - then My DS came for a visit (Wed til noon today)- Had my biopsy on Friday - won't know til Tuesday - and just have been a little pooped. Going out tonite to see a door band that imitates Janis Joplin - but it doesn't start til like 9:45 heck that's my bed time :Banane34: but may just have to go to the club upstairs to get my groove on - we will see - if i have a couple of drinks the wild girl in me might just want to make an appereance :party: She has been locked away for quite some time... Phyl is with her Sister's in NY - she doesn't have access to a computer on a daily basis - and she left her laptop at home.. If you guys want to see our pictures - go to the July 2007 monthly thread and look for MofA pic thread... Ok gottta go figure out what I am going to where - this thing is outside and its hot 107 right now and at 9 it will still be 105... and it's humid here too for some reason... Talk to ya'll tomorrow if I don't have a hang over :huh2:

    Nancy You aren't alone in this struggle - here's what you do - if you buy something that you just eat too much of - I don't care if it's the sugar free low fat stuff or regular food - just throw the crap away and say better in thee than in me.. You don't know how many jar's of peanut butter I have thrown away - Too much of anything is bad - that's one reason I don't buy the 100 calorie snack pack boxes of say cookies - cuz I would keep going back and 100 calorie serving would end up being 500 calories - so it defets the whole purpose.. If I know I can't control myself - I just don't buy it... if it's not in the house you just can't eat it.. That's always been my phylosiphy (sp) You can't change the past - all you can do is learn from it - pull up the boot straps and move forward...

    Steph - I gotta say that since our trip I have been pooped and really can't seem to get super motivated -you have done alot this last week and had a lot happen to you - nail wasp kids shopping :0) take a bath and relax... Drink plenty of water to flush your system.. Rest... Watch tv but not qvc - you are going to take over the title of shopping queen....

    I really like homemade foods they are so much more satisfying - I am the kind of cook that just goes in the kitchen look at what I have and make it Ok here is something else.. Fine chopped onion, bell peppers sauted in a little evoo (salt pepper garlic)- add thin sliced yellow squash & zuchinees - add some spahetti sauce cook until squash is super soft - it should be soft enought when you stir it up it turns to mush -put in a bowl add a little parmensean cheese.or ricotta Butternut squash is great too - cut in half scoop out seeds - put in a shallow dish put some Water in the bottom - cover with saran (sp) wrap and cook in micro wave for 10 - 15 minutes - scoop out into bowl - spray with I can't beleive its butter spray - yummy.. You are on soft or mushie???

    Hey Gang Karri you had me cracking up on the import/export thingie - to funny - ya mob $$ would be great - but not the risk :0) Yep matines are cheaper 11 for my DS and me yesterday - 1 small popcorn for me and nacho's & large coke for DS $17 - go figure. $28 for a show.. I am doing that one day a week and not counting - I love that idea.. I have heard of pple doing it before - but I think I am going to try it.. Steph Exercise - after my workout this morning arms - I told my trainer my thights were tight and i felt like i need to leg press 200 lbs - he took me over and I did some deep squats - it helped - I told him that I was glad that this week I would be back to normal schedule - M/T/W gym and I am off Friday again so I will go Friday & Sat Morning - I really can't beleive that I want to exercise.. Oh I rubbed off on you for your shopping - Love it or was it the exercise either way - good - I have been watching QVC today it's fashion day - but I haven bought anything - Marvali - You have done well over the last year ... You will be a welcome addition to our group.. Candice Congrats on your loss - you are doing great !!!! I am going to one of the casinos "fantasy springs" they have a place called the rock yard (it's outside)- door bands play tonite Janis Joplin imitatior.. So now just gotta figure out what to wear (I didn't get any summer tops on our trip mostly winter stuff) and be like Steph and practice the 1 water 1 drink - the show doesn't start til 9:45 - so I guess we will go around 9 - omg that's my bed time :0)....     Ribearty Congrats !!! So happy for you - the exercise - most of us have just added it to our signatures and update it when we exercise - We set a personal goal and strive to make it - for me it's 15 days a month - Since I haven't be on the computer since thursday mine isn't updated but I know that I have gone over my 15 day - need to change for the month of august... Ruby buy one candy bar eat what you want and throw the rest away - that's what I have done when I can't deny the craving.. Karri - I am so happy for you guys that's great that DH got a job... Happy that you are going to get back to exercising - yep it's funny how we now want to exercise where as before it was the last thing we wanted to do.. Marvell - Yes you can join us if you want we are July 07 banders. How much more weight do you need to lose if you are a 5 - Were you banded 7/23 or 9/23??? This is a learning process and yes it's hard for us to see ourselves in a diff way - I will still look in the mirror and say oh you look fat - but then I tell myself - you are a size 4 or 6 you aren't fat a size 18/20 was fat.. Steph - OMG my finger hurts just thinking about your pain - Hope it's better today... Steph I saw the TSV - but didn't know how I would like the suede part against my body - thought it might be too warm for the desert.. But ya it was cute and saw a little of Lisa's jewelry - I am trying not to watch too much qvc - I gotta pay off my MofA bills first :thumbup: Ruby no guilt - for one candy - it's only if you ate a whole bag of it. Steph Phyl doesn't have a computer with her - she is at all her fish frys.. She sould be cking in any minute now Linda - Yep I haven't been on the computer much - Yesterday my biospy- my son is here and he went with me.. That was very comforting - I think I can do all this stuff alone but it is nice to have support... The biospy was painless - now just gotta wait til Tues to get the results.. I am still trying to catch up on my rest - yesterday afternoon DS and I went to the movies and saw Stepbrothers - Cute movie - my DS wore the shirt I got him at Bubba Gumps "My Mamma Says I'm Special" My DS is a Mama's boy... Well, just wanted to ck in - I go to the gym in a bit to me with trainer to make up for missing Monday.. Then off the the airport to take DS.. So will talk to you all later Have a good day....     Thanks Katarina !!! Lori - You will be fine - your gallbladder surgery will be a breeze - we will keep you in our prayers anyway - I know that it's still scary to have to have another operation... Charlene - you are so right we are trained to think that we need to eat less to lose weight - yes we need to eat less than we use to but we still need to eat - healthy foods - I have always ate between 800 to 1200 . Kathy - the feeling you are discribing sound like full to me - for each of us it can be a little diff - but I would say that's full.. Nancy - You have lost weight that's the postitive - You do need to try and eat hard Proteins - you shouldn't be eating just soft foods if that's all you can eat then you may need more fill taken out.. Some pple don't need fills like others do - Try and eat a hamburger patty - tiny bites and chew super well - you can't live on eggbeaters & cottage cheese.. Talk to your doctor.. Barb Yep family issues can be stressful and we have to learn to deal with them in a diff manner.. This is a learning process. I gotta say for the most part I am a eater out of boredom more than stress - but what I do when I have the urge to eat and can't fight it off is to find something low in calories to munch on -- my 100 c popcorn packs usually does it - or if it's sweets i want - a healthy choice fudgecicle - also i try and find something to do - I ususally get on the computer and come here to LBT - It's my transfer addiction..

    Hey Gang this is short and sweet as I got tons to do - being off monday and won't be here tomorrow (biospy) and my son is visiting... Today was my weigh in - 146 - so I only gained 1/2 lbs - for all that eating I did I am very happy.. My suit case was 48 lbs :0) so just made it. Karri - Hope you got the help you needed with that fill... You go the tools so don't feel bad for maintaining it :biggrin: Phyl - OMG - You have the paitience of a Saint - I would have cussed someone out .. Ruby - Glad everything is working out with stepson Steph - We loved your Mom - she fit right in... Denise - hope the fill work - if not demand the fluro and don't you love it having to return for smaller size:lol: Jackie - we would loved if you could have come - we really missed having the rest of you - Karri - Denise - Kari - You - So you guys really gotta plan for next year..     Hi Gang - Sorry for being MIA - but busy at work cuz I was off Monday and will be off Friday for my biospy and my Son flew in yesterday - So I really apoligize for not being around like I should.... Some days - nothing to do and am bored as hell - then so busy that there aren't enought hours in the day... Here's the link to Lucky #7 MofA picture thread - you can see the pics that have been posted so far - Steph & Phyl haven't posted theirs yet but mine are there http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f94/mall-america-picture-thread-71107/ Becky As to how my other lucky #7 are doing - Linda 120 lbs gone in 1 yr - Phyl 86 lbs - Peaches ?? her #'s aren't on the top of my head plus she had a hole in her tubing and just got fixed a few months back - but she's has lost like 50 or 60 lbs - Steph is really a Dec bander but we adopted her and I think her #'s are like 50 or 60 too. We all started out at diff weights - some have more to lose than others but we all have been successful at changing our eating habits and adding exercise into our lives. We are all empowered by what we can do this yr opposed to last year - we all are in shock that this really works - as none of our other attempts to get healthy have.. Steph is the baby of the group but the rest of us who went are 50+ - We understand that this is a lifetime change - we all struggle at times - but with the help of our band we are doing it.... You are doing great on your weight loss Yes protein 1st !!! I eat carbs/starches - you gotta vary what you eat - you need starches so if you eat too many one day then the next day cut back a little.. Ellen - Ya you gotta up those calories some - If you are on full liquids - make some Soups - then blend them - I found homemade food so much more satisfing that processed stuff. This is a learning process so for a while you are going to have food on the brain - you have to plan and think about your choices. I still do 1 yrs out I plan 98% of the time.. Jill - Size 2 is a fluke no way 145.5 lbs is a size 2 - but heck that's the size on the pants so I will take it:tongue2: - I am normally a 6 or sometimes a 4 (my trainer guessed my size as a 4 last night - that's the kind of reinforcement I need - cuz I will still put on something and think I look fat and then have to talk to myself and say Janet those pants you have on are a 6 how in the hell do you think you look fat ) Yes I do eat salads (not often but I do)- I just hate making them and hate the low fat dressing as they are too sweet. I make ranch from the packets with light buttermilk and nf mayo - it's good and like 35 cal for a tablespn.. The problem with salad is that if I don't have homemade dressing and use regular - I feel I am defeting the purpose of eating a salad - I like dressing on my salad not drowning but too much... I use the dip the fork in the dressing then in the salad trick. I didn't ask about how much he put in on my 1st or 2nd fill - to me it doesn't matter and I never understood why everyone want's to know - what does it matter - all that matters to me is that the darn thing works - I could have 4cc and be too tight and you can have 8 cc and still have no restriction - it is diff for each one of us.. I got to much to remember without adding the #'s of cc's in my band :thumbup: Plus my memory is shot anyway .. The only reason I know how much is in my band now is that my 3rd fill was too much he said he put 1 cc in and I was back a week later and had .08 taken out - so if I remember correctly I have 5 cc even - but not sure on that. My 1st fill lasted 2 weeks then when back and my 3rd fill in Oct really put me at my sweet spot.. Kathy - I am so glad you didn't order that gravy - cuz you would have made the food cop come out :biggrin: - I am so glad you made the more healthier choice of yogurt Yep - us lucky #7 feel that we have gained more sisters - that's how we feel with each other - just think - we all met online a little over 1 yr ago When we all met for the first time it was like we had known each other for years - we have shared so much thru the last yr - our struggles with the band - our families - our jobs - this site is more than just band related it's about who we are. So gang I want to you to know that you can share and vent as much as you like about whatever is going on in your lives - this support isn't just for the banded part of your tummy but for the whole you.. Maybe we all can meet somewhere next yr.... Think about it.. Lori - in dresses I usually wear a 10 - it's my pants that are 4 or 6.. Don't ask me why - but I can't explain the 2 either:biggrin2: Becky CONGRATS ON YOUR 25 LBS - THAT'S GREAT... I can't say I have ever been queasy due to my band - maybe you have a little bug... Cathy Quick adding of your calories maybe you aren't eating enough food and that will stall your weight loss. Last weekend on my trip had a few drinks - ate out every night - even had some Cookies & ice cream - didn't exercise from Wed til last night (well all the mall walking but no real exercise) and I only gained 1/2 lbs I really expected a bigger gain - more like 3-5 lbs... But it goes to show that you do have to vary your calories... Ok I gotta get to work - I will ck back later....

Imb You are missing the point - you were banded to control your portions and to learn a new healthy lifestyle This is a lifetime lifestyle change in your eating behaivor - this is not a quick fix to turn on and off - that's yo-yo dieting... What's more important to you eating "normal" (like said above is what got you to 231) or your Health. Good luck in figuring it out... I wish you the best

    Ok here is pic's of my purchases #1 was from Saturday - I stopped and ate lunch that day (Bubba's) #2 is all my purchases - I didn't eat lunch on Sunday - I was a Mad Woman Shopping on Sunday... I came with an empty suit case - and guess how much it weighed going back - 48 LBS... I barely made it..

    Linda I'm about 80-90 miles east of Chino Hills where the 5.6 hit - we felt it but not bad - I am in a 2 story bldg (top floor) and we swayed a bit - no biggie for me I have lived thru tons of EQ's all my life - they are far apart and not like tornado's or hurricanes that happen every year.. - I don't think there was any damage in Chino Hills - I did't get on the scales last night - I will get on them Thursday - I don't like airport foods - over priced and I have to throw 3/4 away - I had the inside of a jr whopper (meat cheese tomato) and 4 onion rings - Inside of egg salad sandwich - 1 100 c snack pack cheezeits and a package of those- cheese & pnb crackers and here is the BAD BAD THING I ATE - 2 Oatmeal raisan cookies (one on the plane and the other one when I went to bed last night) oh ya a glass of wine during my 2 hr lay over in Denver. Being tired - I make bad bad bad (i mean bad) food choices and I really do tend to eat the sweets & starches more - but all they have in the airports is pasta - pizza - hamburgers and salads - yes I know I could have eaten a salad but with the dressing it's just as fatting as eating cheese & crackers... and again I make bad decisions..... Today I am back on tract with good food choices - breakfast tuna - lunch a ham sandwich and dinner will be fish and veggies - I am going to store after work and skipping the gym cuz I don't have any food and need some good stuff and I will go tomorrow for my trainer workout...

    Hey Lori - Yep - I am going to die when I get my credit card bills !!:wink2: It's funny - I got Size 6 - 4 and even a size 2 and no way in God's green earth is 145.5 a size 2 but that's what the size on the pants say ! so I will take it:thumbup: - 6 pairs of pants - 1 suit - 2 dresses - 2 pairs of shoe - 1 jacket - 2 tanks - 6 tops... I will upload pictures tonite. Thanks Charlene for missing me :0) Make cream of pinto bean Soup (or any Beans that you like) - make pot of beans - strain the beans from the broth (keeping broth) puree beans add back to broth !!! Refried beans are mushies - go to the food thread there are tons of receipts for mushie stage.. Scrambled eggs - cottage cheese - yogurts - puddings are all mushies - there are some good receipts for spaghetti sauce (or marnara sauce & ricotta cheese ) - oatmeal - cream of wheat - cream of spinach - mashed potatoes I ate all these things.. I hate hamburger helper (my GS loves it) and i took it and put in my magic bullet and added tomato bisque soup - it was ok not great but I was hungry... You need to eat real food not so much shakes - I found for me homecooked real food more satisfiying... Ok Back to work - talk to you all tonite
