I HAVE SUCCEEDED !!!! I HAVE A NORMAL BMI !!! Gang Just want you to know that it is possible . Truly I never thought this was possible even with the surgery. I was happy in Dec when I got below 199 and in a size 14 and thought I look good and felt good too Now 13 months after surgery I am 145 size 6 or 4's.. and have a normal bmi :thumbup: Just want you all to know it is possible and I am proof of that I am no diff than the rest of you - I have struggled all my life with weight issues (heck when I was in like 4th grade they had me on a diet) Just take it one day at a time think before you eat - increase your physical activity with the help of your tool you too can acheive your goals.

PJ - It's hard to get all your protein in at first - just do your best - sip all day long as you heal you will be able to get more in - but you gotta keep your strenght up to heal. I am glad to hear no more throwing up and keep an eye on that fever... Hugs.. -

Hey there gang what's up - the site is slow... well at least for me.. I went to the gym (arms tonite) came home messed with pictures collage (sp) then came here.. Dinner is cooking fish (I know as usual) butternut squash (I love it but it's a b to cut in half if I didn't have some muscles I most likely couldn't) No much to report - went to chinese with gf for lunch - had a orange chicken and cripy shrimp and 1/2 bite of rice - I got full on about a 3/4 cup of hard protein but was hungry about an hour later.. I watched gf eat the shrimp in one bite where mine were either 2 or 3... Well there goes the timer - gotta ck my veggies - If I don't get back on - have a good nite and talk to you all tomorrow Kari where have you been???? Hugs & Love - Janet

Elayne - you are too funny ... Yep you are in big time trouble - once banded no more big bites - no more 2 chews and swallow - and no more shoveling fork or spoons full of food in your mouth really fast. If you keep those habit you will be pbing every meal.. No more pina colada on a daily basis anyway - It's all about tiny bites chew chew chew eating slowly and staying away for the liquid calories Good Luck :0) Cindy you can do it all you have to do is get your mind in the game - healthy eating - exercise and the weight will come off.. But you gotta do the work - you know the band is only a tool - now you have to use your other tools (brain & muscles) to do the rest of the work and yes it is work but so worth it.. Losing weight isn't about not eating - it's about eating healthy food - varying your calories and exercising... Yep you need to see your doctor and get back on tract - no more excuses - We are here for you... Mary - You sound like you are doing super - Welcome to bandland PJ - are you throwing up anymore??? Did you call the Doc.. Do you have protein powder to mix in your soups or yogurts .. No more gulping sips sips sips You can make a smoothie with your yogurt (dannon lite & fit) add some fruit and protein powder ice and a little skim milk in a blender You are going to have to read labels and do the math to figure out your protein - but my protien smoothies had about 25 grm pt in them 20 from the powder and 5 from the yogurt.. Hey there Mommylambert - long time since you posted... I still am hungry even at my sweet spot - for me the band doesn't take away my hunger like it does for some - I had lunch today orange chicken & crispy spicy shrimp (hard proteins) I was full but about 1 later I was hungry again and could have eaten.I didn't but wanted to.. For my my sweet spot has been when I am full on 1 cup of food.. I know from the last time we talked about your troubles and you have done very well consider all that you have had to deal with this last year - Hugs Janet Fluffy - our bands can hold more than what they say - mommy's doc is very conservative with his fills .. -
Ellen - this was my second biospy last yr at this time it was calcifications - have a diamond marker for those and now a ribbon marker for the fibrous mass. I was more upset this time when they said I had a lump - so hopefully when I go back on 2/3/09 and then again 7/09 I won't freak out if I have to go back for another biospy.. Hugs Janet

Charlene - I am totally with you on the closer is better - My gym is across the street from my housing development so it is super easy - I could walk - but like you I live in a hot climate too (DESERT :wink_smile:) - if the gym was on the other side of town - I wouldn't go... Kathy - I LOVE MY trainer and he said that I should have come to him at 250 - but I was too embarrassed - I love my muscles... I just don't want any of you to judge yourself to my weight loss - I think I need to put a disclaimer (not typical resluts) Yes I lost fast - but I really really worked at it with my healthy eating and exercise - I am single so I don't have a family to cook for - just my GS and 1/4 of the time he fends for hisself and the other time I cook for him but Hamburger helper was never my thing anyway... Focus on being healthier and more active - the band does work...

I don't do high Protein only - I have a healthy mix of foods and have never had this problem - you may need to look at what you are eating - our bodies do need carbs just healthy ones.. When I get hungry I eat extra veggies - I don't find that for me that my band takes away all my hunger but do find if I eat hard Proteins and not slider foods that I do stay full longer.. Gwen - Well said - We are doing the work - the band is just a helper.. BevDi - Congratulations !!! JoannMarie - I set my original goal at 170 (going from 250) then moved it back to 160 when I got in the 180 - moved to to 150 then back to 160 cuz even when I was 170 I didn't think that I could get to 150 (haven't been there since my early 20's) I reached goal 11 months 1 week out for my goal of 160 and have continued my losing - 145 is my stopping point - I just want a healthy bmi - I look like i weigh 120 and I don't want to lose anymore weight and am happy where I am at. I now have to learn to maintain which is a whole nother issue - I was rewarded each week from all my healthy eating and exercise by seeing the numbers on the scale go down - now I have to work on just keeping the same number all the time. I have to learn that I can add a few calories to my diet (what a person or animal usually eats and drinks; daily fare this is) This in it's self is scary adding more calories to my daily intake and worry that I will keep adding and then gain - I have given myself a 5 lbs limit - i will never again allow myself to gain more than 5 lbs without taking it off immediately - no more ok 5 lbs no biggie then 2 months later another 5 lbs - so on an so for then I will be back to 250... Mary - Hugs Love & Prayers... Elayne - Love your ramblings... I talk about food alot myself even now, if you go to parties have family gathering etc - it all seems to revolve around food - it's on the bill boards - tv - radio etc.. It's a fact of life it in our face 24/7 - I notice now how pple eat (fast slow shovel) and what they eat (sugar - greasy) - I am still a food addict - and just for today I have control - I do feel empowered by my exercise eithic - my healthy eating eithic and my whole new energy levels. But I still think about food.. I still miss pigging out at time.. I am a food addict ... PJ - CALL YOUR DOCTOR - YOU SHOULD NOT BE THROWING UP.... Didn't they give you any guide lines to follow - I think I was full on 4 oz this soon out.... Call your doctor and tell them what happend - do it now... Welcome - yes it takes awhile to learn :wink: -
Good Morning Gang Our computer is down so thought I would pop in and say Hi since I never made it here last night. Ruby - Even though Aunt Flo doesn't visit anymore (well maybe once every 6 months) I still get moody. So when you want to be a b just come and say it's just one of those days and we will understand. Linda- I love the story about your son and his success - I think of it often when dealing with my GS :cry_smile: Steph - I totally get where did my sweet baby go... I have these pic's on my computer of my GS when he was 1 - 2 - 3 and he Idolized me and I was his world - now some days I am lucky to get 5 words out of him It will get better but in the moment I know it's hard to see that - HUGS.. Cleaning - oh my house is a mess since I am off Friday I hope to get something done... Oh ya - my son just turned 37 and seems like he is finally getting it to get his crap together :0) Phyll- Glad you are having a good time with your Family - HUGS about the dog.. :drool: it's my lil bears bday today - I just love my doggies and hate to think about them getting sick... Thanks for prayers! Edouardo turned out to be a whimp. We just had blowing rain. Now, I have plenty of tuna for the week. I am frustrated with my loss. I increased my calories to 800-1000, ....I am walking 30 minutes a day, and I am drinking 8 glasses of water a day. I lost 3lbs since last wednesday and gained back a pound. I am eating more carbs.....could that be the problem? Charlene & Becky... Girls Girls Girls - You gotta quite worrying about losing 2 - 3 - or 4 lbs a week - You aren't going to keep losing weight like that every week... Some weeks you may only lose 1/2 lb others 2 then maybe 1/4 - Yes being banded is about losing the weight but also about learning new eating habits - how to deal with your emotions - learning to be phyiscally active which you are both doing... Be proud of that and what you are changing. Don't totally fixate on the scale. You gotta be happy that you are making the changes in your lives to become healthier - you have to know that there were weeks that I only lost 1/2 a pound and I gotta tell you I was happy with those 1/2 lbs losses - cuz they all add up. It's been said a million times before - it seems like we should be losing 10 lbs a week with the addition of exercise in our lives and our new eating habits - but it just doesn't work that way. This is a process - if you are doing the work - it's going to work. But we all lose weight at a different rate and this isn't a race. I really think for me that exercise is esseintal - a long time ago I took up dance - did it twice a week 3 hrs each class - I lost 20 lbs and didn't change my eating at all.. My body responds well to exercise - this is me - your Some weeks the scales might not even move at all - if you keep up this way of thinking on those weeks you are going to get depressed which can sabotage all the work you have accomplished. Again you cant get on the scale every day - our weight flucuates too much - I can get on the scale 3 times in one day and each time it can be different - I can do this every day of the week and it will always be a diff weight. It's summer and I find that I will retain more water in the summer - don't ask me why - but I do. Charlene - As to eating carbs - I am not an atkins girl - I do eat carbs but limited - as long as you are exercising - eating healthy (logging calories too) and getting your water in - the weight will come off. Also - as time goes by you are going to have to increase the intensity of your exercise - example @ 250 walking 1 mile burns like 150 calories but walking that same mile @ 150 only burns 100 calories - so you have to increase your time or the intensity as you lose weight - Now If I walk 1 mile on a flat surface (i use treadmill at gym) at 146 i burn 98 calories - but if I increase the incline to 6 and walk that mile i burn 125 caloires (these aren't exact #'s but estimates) . Becky - Have fun at the fair and seeing those bands - be prepared though the fair doesn't have healthy food :cry_smile: When I went to our's I had corn on the cob and 1/2 egg roll but again I was 7 months out - Oh ya I bought a cinnimon roll but ate only 3 bites - (3 bite rule - if you really want something like a sweet - limit yourself to 3 bite and enjoy those and then toss or give away the rest) Ok gang I gotta get my butt in gear... Trish once you post in a thread it usually subscrips you to it - then when you get on LBT - go to User CP and any new post to your thread should appear there. I am answering you all about the saggy baggy skin... My tummy isn't too bad - my legs not great (but I ain't wearing a mini skirt) my boob well even fat they were sagggy grandma boobies.. My arms are the worst and what bothers me the most (the rest is covered up by clothes - good bra and shape wear) - You can see that I have muscles now but when I get surgery on them (will eventurally) I would have Kelly Ripa arms (well maybe a bit of a streach but they would be cut) But heck like it was said above my body didn't look to frickin hot when it was full of fat - my skin was saggy even 104 lbs ago- heck we ain't in our 20's even though in our brains we are. The saggy skin depends on your DNA - how long you were overweight etc - but I can tell you from personal experience I would rather have the saggy skin than the fat... Thanks so much BevDi !!!! clc - it's diff for each of us - I am there - but there are some days that I can eat more than others - its just our bands they are very fickle some days tight other looser - Welcome April - this is a great place - looking forward chatting with you Lynn have fun - let me know how you like Mama Mia.. Skinnyme - Call your doctor on your shortness of breath - None of us are doctors and you should be talking to them - I hope you have already called them... You just gotta find one you like - I don't care for them - and I have tried a few - I have to take them so I just do it - I have centritum chewables... -

It was so nice to meet my Lucky #7 gals - I have a bunch of new sister... PJ - you are doing great... I am glad to hear that - especially the no gas cuz that's the killer for most of us and the port site... I had a scrip for the liquid vicodin - (a giant bottle which I still have) but I never took it or anything once I got home. Enjoy the not being hungry - it will return Lori - Thanks - yes I was relived - but go back in 6 months for another ultra sound & mamo on my right breast - so if I get called back again I hope I won't be in such a panic.. Just fybros - I thanked the man up stairs that it's nothing worse. Enjoy your support group tonite - I went to one my doc has - but it's 20 miles away - I don't get home til 9 and prefer my LBT group - this place is open 24/7 you talk to each other daily (well mostly) and you connect. Being hungier is a sign that you are healing and you are entering Bandster Hell - the time between banding and getting your 1st fill - you are hungry you don't have much restriction etc.. Just eat extra veggie when you are straving and just can't ignore it anymore - that's how I survived.. Plan prepare and you will survive.. Sorry gang for not cking in this morning - work is CRAZY :bananapowerslide: and just haven't had time to pop in during the day.. Just want you all to know I haven't abandon you all.. But I gotta say I think I have the best group - you all are doing so well - having hurricanes and being prepared - eating healthy and exercising - I am really proud of you all.. Keep up the good work... With that being said - if any of you are or do struggle come and let me know - I'm here to help in those times too.. Remember this thread is for all our issues as it's our lives that affected how we ate - happy sad mad etc - we are still going to have these emotions so it you want to talk about those things feel free..

Steph I started this - this morning and now 3 p.m. and still haven't replyed - No plan of action I just have to go back in 6 months for another mamo & ultra sound on my right boob... Your DOCTOR IS STUPID - STUPID - STUPID YOU NEED TO FIRE HIM. You know that there are successes with any bariatic surgery and that there are successes with addiction - not everyone fails and we Lucky #7 are the exception to the rule - Your DOCTOR CAN GO SCREW HIS SELF WHY WOULD HE BE SO INSENSETIVE - I JUST CAN BELEIVE IT - HE SHOULD BE CHEERING YOU ON.... OH I AM PISSED AT HIM YOU ARE A WINNER AND YOU WILL/ARE SUCCESSFULLL Thanks Denise - How are you - I heard something on the news this a.m. about edwarduo and LA - are you going to be ok... Thanks Karri - they called right before I left work and yes it was good news I was pretty sure it was going to be that but you know how there is still that little bit of doubt in the back of your mind. Congrats on your 1 mile - I am glad you got to run and just did a little and not too much - I bet it felt great... Candice Thanks and Hugs right back - they are leaving it alone - she said the word fibroy (sp) but I really didn't listen to anything after the words all clear no cancer - the lump was 1 cmm - size of a pea i guess - i don't know metric but did look on a rules and came up with the size of a pea and I know that they put another marker in (now I have 2 a diamond from last year and ribbon this year) I will go back in 6 months for another mamo on my right breast.. The doc did say that losing the weight makes for better pictures.. Candice - I had a few drinks (3 or 4 tequilla & tonic's) Sat night and then came home and ate the dips (like ice cream bon bons but tinyier) that were left by my son - I gotta say drinking is not a good thing when you are trying to eat healthy cuz I just said "f" it I am eating those and did.. Linda - I cancelled my fill appointed that was for Wed - I agree - I don't need a fill - just some days you think you do - it's such a mental game sometimes. 2 more weeks to the wedding - remember we want to see picutres. Ok - got my bills paid and it's 8:15 - gotta go eat - will talk to you all tomorrow - I have emailed Phyl - if I don't hear from her I am going to call her just to make sure everything is ok.. Denise - Ya I am still around :thumbup: You haven't been to super active either now you got a BF :biggrin2: On this subject - I can say that I now eat to live and no longer live to eat Nancy I totally understand - some food are just to dangerous - Good for you - you can do this - !!:thumbup: dgf - Men just seem to lose weight better/faster than us and some pple who are banded do choose to eat the same way as they did before - just in smaller portions - it's what works for each person - But I too took it that the o/p was still in the live to eat mode and not the eat to live mode. You are doing great with your 53 lbs in 3 months - keep up the good work Lynn - herina??? Yes if you miss a day or 2 - there are so many post to reply to Sue you will do it -and feel so empowered by acheving your goals.. Harmonygirl - I can tell you it's the best thing I have ever done I am just a little over a year out (banded 7/17/07) and I am 104.50 lighter - I am no long on a cpap machine - I am no longer on blood pressure meds - I feel 10 yrs younger - have 200% more energy. I have muscles that I never had before. I am more confident - I am loving life.. I am attaching pic to show you the diff - but let me tell you I did this for my health not for the looks - I want to extend the yrs I have left on this earth - see my grandkids get married and maybe even a great grandchild (not for a few more years but I would love to be around when they do come) Linda a pound a week is very good - you are doing great :thumbup: NLONLIFE - Welcome !!! you are doing great - I agree with you 100% I too feel that I living again for the 1st time in years... I have flown twice now once to vegas and then to St Paul for my Mall of America trip and it didn't bother my band at all. Some say it gets tighter but I guess just like everything else - for some it does and others it doesn't PJ - Prayers are with you for a safe surgery and speedy recovery... Ok gang got the results from my biopsy - All Clear - No Cancer !!! Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts. Well, I gotta go pay bills I am 3 days late :eek:- Had a good time Sat Nite danced a little and got a good buzz enjoyed going out it felt good - saw my Nephew and friends and they were shocked at my weight lost - some of them have never seen me this thin (haven't been in the 140 since my early 20's) Saw some pple from high school who I hadn't seen in years. I won't know the result's of my biospy until tomorrow.... No we don't have any holidays until the 1st Monday in Sept - Labor day for us so might be like your Civic day - I took Friday off for the biospy and cuz my son was here - I am taking this Friday off and then 14th & 15th (going to visit sis and son)- and the last week in August off - I have 25 Vacation days each year - I still have 9 days left - will take the week of Thanksgiving & week after off to get my Xmas shopping done.. Will be going to my Sis's for Turkey day as her bday is the 28th of Nov and she will be 60 You are doing great on your exercise - :thumbup: keep up the good work

Hi Jill I never used the protein bullets - My doc's office sells these Protein drinks you add to water (like crystal lite) and they have 15 grms pt for 70 calories - I used those in the beginning - and still have some - but don't use them often. I have read the same thing that the body can only process so much protein at once - I thought it was like 30 grms but like you said they are great when you aren't able to get all your protein in via regular food.. Yep we need to think of our losses in those terms - I use 10 pound bags of potatoes - we all know how heavy those are and how big. I have lost 10 of those - it's funny how we don't think our fat in poundage.. Visualize 1 10 lbs bag of potatoes and 5 lbs bag of sugar and 3 lbs of butter.. You are doing great :thumbup::thumbup:

Linda - I think I got caught up on my rest yesterday - with the help of the tequilla I drank Sat nite :0) - but ya going back to work :0(... We have a jjill here too - but I am not shopping for a while- I got school clothes for GS this month - ... Denise - I dislike my job too - so Hugs... Karri - You look fantastic - those scar's aren't going to show after you have healed 100% - she did execellent work... Steph glad you are feeling better !!! Ok gang cking in .... 11 months 1 week - 100 lbs Gone

' The 1st 8 months I did treadmill only 4-5 times a week (45 min to 1 hr each day) - and then in March I got a personal trainer - now I do weights 2 x week and treadmill 2 x week 3 to 3.5 miles
