Karri You have 4 yrs to train for the next Olympic's - Take that NO OUT OF YOUR VOCABULARY!!!! You could do it.. Ok I gotta see how far Eugene is.. I may just come Phyl I hope GS & GF go as long as the fighting is a minimum - I would love the scenery of the drive !!! I always liked my sweets but seems like I have been wanting them more than I remember wanting them prior to banding - but who knows selective memory and pre banding I never really paid that much attention to my eating. I just knew I ate alot - but not as much as pple would think - my weight was a combination of eating and exercise (lack of) But I know I didn't eat sweets every night before banding and it seems like now I do have a pudding or fudgecicle most nights. Well off to bed - just stopped by the computer to turn it off - never posted in my 50 thread - well there's always tomorrow... Sweet Dreams Gang - TTYL :tongue2:

Lori Don't be too upset - Sizes vary so much - I can have 3 diff sizes of pants from NYMJ - so don't let the numbers get you down too much.. Your doc support groups sounds great. Oh take the word hope out and replace with They Will be Smaller Sizes :tongue2: -
Karri - It must be something in the air about the sweet tooth issues - I have had them too.. When I was away this weekend bought oatmeal Raisin Walnut Cookies - I was tired and hungry after my 6.5 hr drive with 3 kids (17 13 10) 2 dogs - well ate a few Thurs - Frid - Saturday - I don't know why I buy stuff like that when I am away from home - I won't do it at home - but did ok otherwise and scale was up only a pound when I got home - so I feel ok - I have quit keeping a food diary - but still think about how much calories are in whatever I am eating - I am eating healthy (well for the most part except when I am away from home ) At home only sf stuff is allowed:tongue: OMW 8 lbs fluctuation in one day - that's crazy - I know that when I was 1st on zoloft i didn't think about food but that did change.. I think the running will help and we don't want you to have the anxiety or the weight gain - so just be patient and see what works for you once you can start running again.. Phyl the sweet tooth fairy must be hanging around your house too.. Mindless eating - popcorn is my food of choice for those times. Your trip sounds fun - how long of a drive?? I was suprised that my GS went on this last little trip - It was good to have all the family together. --------------------------------------------------------- Well it's 7:17 - turkey meatloaf in the oven (will have meatloaf sandwiches for lunch the rest of this week on light bread)- think I will have some carrot to.. Well off to watch my Olymipics from last night (went to bed like at 9 p.m I was pooped) Karri you are going to have to run in the next Olympic Marathon... You can do it we will be there to cheer you on... CBL :tongue2: P.S. Phyl good for you to be pampering yourself - and did you get another set of holes in your ears ??? While you were in NY

Good Morning Gang Yep yesterday was a sucky day for lbt - I lost like 3 post  Jackie - Hope your daughter gets approved and that your mom will improve once she gets home - hugs loves and prayers. I wouldn't freak over to pieces of chicken if that's all you ate - but you know your band the best.. I guess I am just lucky - I am at my sweet spot 98% of the time. Candice - How cool to see the bears - isn't it funny how much better in shape you are today - great - Was Linda's son's wedding this past weekend??? Have you heard from her?? Karri - As Ruby said it shows what a great teacher you are - If my kids went to your school I would request you too.. But there does have to be a limit on how many kids you have... Hows the exercise going and maintenance... I am ok - ate too many sweets this past weekend but only gain a pound whihc will be off by thrusday so I am not freaking - I have this new thing when I am on vacation I allow myself stuff I don't eat at home - so it's a good trade off.' Ruby - has your Son started back to school yet - I bet you will enjoy having the house to yourself and the computer too :biggrin2:
-
Hey Gang - I responded last night to Pj Becky & Kathy - but it looks like my post didn't post - the server went down again !!!!! So here is a recap of what I wrote - well as good as this old memory is  PJ - Amount of food per serving once you have proper restriction: I agree with your doctor - I let my band tell me when I am full.. If I am eating hard Protein (food with substant) I would say that I get pretty full on 3 or 4 oz - with a little room for 1/2 c soft veggies and maybe 1/4 cup rice. that is my normal dinner - Breakfast and lunch are ususally 1 cup of food . As I said before I could not live on 1/2 cup of food per meal - I don't think it's healthy - pple need more than that to live on - normal pple eat more than that per meal - heck you can't get enought calories in on 1/2 cup of food 3 x day even with 2 healthy Snacks unless you are eating high fat or high sugar foods which is unhealthy As far as the medical issues with the band (slips/strech/erossions) - I am not an expert on these issues - I know that there are complications and sometimes crap happens even when you follow the rules - so I just don't concern myself with all the problems that can happen - I am not a worrier I can only control what I do and that's its. That being said - what I have read - slips happen from too much pbing - eating before you should while your stomach is still healing (they stich the stomach around your band) errossions from being too tight - and there is always the factor that the doc didnt place the band properly and there is the factor of crap happens.. PJ when are they going to refill your band?? These instructions are mostly for a properly inflated band - prior to my 1st fill I was eating almost 2 cups of food - one being mushie (slider) veggies the other was 4 oz fish and 1/2 c rice. I just ate healthy and did my very best until I go to my sweet spot.. Becky - Yep Trace is one heck of a man - Hope the fill helps - you will know once you get back on regular foods - and sometime it can take a bit for the fill to settle in - Kathy - Being away from home is hard for me to make good choices especially when I don't have alot of choices (like airports) but if you are eating in nice restaurants then you are going to have good food choices to choose from and why can't you have 1 glass of wine?? My doc allows a glass or 2 max but he wants us to live life - this is not a diet this is a lifetime lifestyle changes and we must understand that nothing is off limits - it's everything in moderation - that's where the band is our tool (well except for liquid calories:smile2:), Cathy - Hope all is well - good to hear from you... oh ya - Pj - no more traveling til turkey day:biggrin2:.. I am on vacation next week but plan on staying home and taking GS school clothes shopping and maybe a day trip to the beach...

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
IndioGirl55 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm Back.... Well some of you knew I was gone for a long weekend visiting My Son & My Sister .. First of all I haven't read all the pages - you guys are a busy bunch :crying: But did skim this page and gotta say thanks to you all you complements about my post.. You all are really all too kind - I am just parrotting everythng I learned in all thosse programs I have done - I am just speaking from my heart about my experiences and as we all have figured out we really are all the sames (mostly) I will say something and you will say to yourself - omg I thought I was the only one who did that. You guys really honor me too much... Just want you all to know I appreciate your kind words.. Marie - Welcome - Glad you are posting You have made the 1st step in getting healthy.. You admit that you haven't made the best choices and are in need of a fill - for your band to work you gotta maintain it. You aren't the only one who is struggling - your doc most likely has other pple just like you. Talk to him - tell him your struggles (that's what you are paying him for) Come here - we are all here for you.. Clean out your cupboards (if it's not there you can't eat it), replace the junk with healthy stuff that you enjoy (low fat - sugar free) Also another suggestion - keep a food diary - for me it really helped - I counted calories for the 1st yr - I bought a scale that gave me the calories & Protein grams and all other nutritional info - I learned what a portion size looked like - and how many calories were in the item I was eating.. I'm not saying you have to do this for the rest of your life but it's a great learning tool. Keep up the exercise and each week increase the intensity &/or length the more muscle you have the more calories you will burn. Again, glad to have you - when you want to falter - come and read and post - I find that it takes my mind off food :tt2: Nancy Sorry for you pb struggles - how are your bites and how fast are you eating - for me that will cause a pb ... and that one bite too many too. but most of the time I know when I am forcing it - last night got up and had a sf pudding in the middle of the night (for you who don't know I am a night time eater - still am with the band - but it's planned for and within my calorie budget for the day) well - I ate it too fast and almost pb'd it had to get up and streach to get it to go down.. Ok - just got back from the gym - gotta ck on my other post - so will talk to you all later Oh, Denise your son is getting married - Congrats - are you in AZ - I agree when I am not at home my food choices are so much harder. But the diff between a yr ago and now is that you know what you have to do to get that 5 lbs off - now you don't ignore those 5 lbs you get them off.. -
No I feel like I got a bunch of new sisters ;0)... You did quite well on the support issues Joannmarie - you are going to be a perfect bander when you get banded ....
-
Lori CONGRATULATION !!!! :thumbup:WTG GIRL :wink2: You are doing great..... ' Yes i will get stuck on watermelon sometime too. For me a good sign of being at your sweet spot is when you eat 4 oz of hard Protein (meats or any food with substains no silder foods) and then a 1/2 cup of veggie and are full - I usually eat about 1 to 1 1/2 cup for dinner and 1 cup for lunch and Breakfast. Yep your band can be very fickle some days you can eat more than other.. this is why I have always been a calorie counter as you have to also know how many calories you are consuming and slider foods go down too easy. I go out to lunch I can eat about 1/2 to 3/4 of my taco a few bites of Beans and some chips & salas and that's it. Saturday ate 4 or 5 oz hamburger patty and was physically full - can't say mentally but physically full that was around 5 - and about 7 or 8 had popcorn and 100 calorie ice cream.. You will know when you are at your sweet spot just like you will know if you are too tight - if you can guzzle Water I would say a fill would be in order - I still can't guzzle water'

Thanks Noela !!! Yes you can !!! -
Hi Ladies I am back !!!! Sounds like everyone has done very well while I was gone... On the aniexty issue - I think some of it can be cuz we no longer soothe ourselves with food.. Before we would eat to calm us - plus Charlene with your daugther you have had reason to have it.. Hope all is going well on that front. Becky - I saw Trace in May - OMG that man can park his shoes under my bed any day - That's one hunk of a man... Hope your fill goes good.. Lori - Congrats on hitting the 50 lbs mark... WTG:thumbup: I had a great time with my family !!!! Well, gotta get my butt in gear - Will CBL:tongue:
-
Denise - Good we know your band is working - and yes this is how my doc fills - but he gives a shot of novocain 1st (sp). I still get plus size catalogs - and I still gravitate to the plus section - but I love shopping in the reg section Steph - Yes my doc is great i truly do love him.- but to tell you the truth in a way I think I have surpised him but mostly maybe cuz of my age.. He has always said I have lost weight like a bypass patient - but I am like Michael Phelps - tell me I can't do something and I will sure in the hell do my best to prove you wrong  Thanks - I am really lucky the ladies on my mentor thread are in the right frame of mind... They are doing great. Jackie - I am glad your Mom is better... Yes it's so hard to find a new Doc. Congratulations Kari ~~~' I am back - got back yesterday around 2 - 420 miles of driving (that's one way) so I didn't get on the computer - took a nap - watched the Olympics and then to bed around 9:30.. My doggies are glad to be home - Angel the little poodle pooped in my son's bed room - but he was so good about it - said he would take a little poop if it meant seeing his mom My eating was terrible - I ate too many sweets !!! but only gained 1 lbs so I am fine - didn't get really any exercise except for walking in the river on Friday but it was low so not really too much of a work out.. I had a good visit with my Son & Dil - we all like to watch the Olympic's even stayed up late to watch Darra Torres & Phelps on Saturday night (they don't have tivo)... Well, everyone sounds good - I gotta get to work so I will ck back later... Hugs...
-
Ok girl you go out and by a cute nightie (you can do it now with that flat tummy) and get a bottle of wine (for him we want you awake) and when you have been released - candles - dinner - wine - and :thumbup: . You need to reward that man big time for being such a good nurse while you were recovering.. Jackie you are too funny with that dream... Well I am glad you had it if it will make you come to our next Lucky #7 vacation... Hope your daughter can get the band - There is a program somewhere that takes kids - it was on Ophra I think.. ___________________________________________________________ Ok gang this is going to be quick - I gotta back and eat - I have burned up 2 veggies being on this stupid computer - I answered and email then pm and the my mentor thread - I have burned up asparragas and spinach - so no veggies tonite in fact I forgot to get my fish out of the oven and the timer went off.. I am gone for a long weekend - so I most likely won't talk to you all til monday Have a great weekend !! Hugs & Love Janet
-
oh ya I forgot - Here's the article in Palm Springs Life magazine that was done on the top 100 doc in my area - my doc was one of the featured doctors and he had them contact me for an interview since he calls me his star lapband patient.. I gave the interview in May but if it was written today - it would say 1 have lost 105 lbs - I wear a size 6 or 4 - I no longer take any blood pressure meds and got rid of the cpap machine..
-
Charlene - Prayer are being said for your daughter - Hugs how scary.. #8 - omw you have a ton of grandkids... I have 3 and thats enought  Lori - 45 minutes ya a little too far - I am lucky I have a gym right across the street from my community - so it's easy - i could walk if I wanted to be it's either to hot during the summer and gets dark early in the winter when the weathers nice.. Pluse for me in the Desert not much to look at when walking outside  Yes it's easy to forget when you are feeling good that you had surgery .. But that's a good thing  OK gang - I am off for the weekend - I won't be back online til Monday morning - So remember good food choice - exercise - follow your doc's order.. Be here for each other and I may have access when I'm at my son's but don't know what's planned for the weekend - Since most of you are also 50+ thread girls - go ask Phyl or athinerDenise your questions.. Have a good weekend - I will talk to you all later Hugs & Love Janet ------------------------------------------------------------
-
Well Phyl it's a good thing no champange or cookies - DH would have come back 15 lbs heavier:lol::Banane37: He gained that much on your trip.. You did execellent... only 1.3 and ya you still have water i bet.. Good Job.. The cat really tore up the house - OMW... I am taking my fur babies with me this weekend as gs is going with me and I don't want to kennel them... Will be an adventure... Congratulation Karri - Our Ms Marathoner !!!!! (anything you mean you can't do ANYTHING right now :sleep2::crying:)
-
Lori - CONGRATS ON THE 49.5 - They open our mall like at 6 a.m so during the summer (maybe winter too) so that pple can go walk - and if you wait for the weather to cooperate then you are not going to get much exercise - can you go to the mall to walk a couple times a week or do you have a gym or Ymca or rec center that you can go to.. We have a rec center where you pay like $10 a year and they have classes and track you can walk. CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW GRANDAUGHTER CHARLENE... Is it your 1st grandchild??? Yep sounds like you got stuck... I find getting up an walking to help too.
-
Denise glad your band is working :0).. I have a dvr - I can't stay up until mid nite :Banane37:) - I get up at 5 - so I watch til 9:30 -10 when I go to bed and then in the morning - fast forward to the events I want to see (don't really care about the volleyball) I agree I love the orange yellow red combo of the chineese - why were our outfits in the opening ceremony black and white - they should have been RED WHITE & BLUE. USA ALL THE WAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Becky - I can't tell you and I won't tell you not to follow your doctors orders or diets - but I will tell you no matter what type of healthy diet you choose be it Atkins - South Beach - Weight Watchers - just pick the one that works for you. This is a total lifetime change in your eating and if you can't live without a baked potate (1/4 or 1/2 of one) with your dinner and your other meals are starch laden then have it - this is my personal opinion - I could never live on an atkins type diet and have looked at south beach and it's pretty much the same I think - the south beach allow for more healthy carbs/starches than adktin... I must have carbs/starches in my daily diet - I just don't eat the for Breakfast lunch and dinner - I usually have some form of starch with my dinner and once every few months a sandwich made on lite bread.. Yes starches turn to sugar - truly we should all be eating a diabetic type diet - which is high Protein - I have a gf who is a total atkins girl (she banded) she does fine on it - I guess this is why I say I am a ww girl cuz they allow carbs/starches - just limited. OH Ellen - I didn't take offense or think there was a secert club - I just wanted you to tell me your experience regarding the Dr Phil show... OMW girl - I didn't think anything - I know how long it takes to write what you wrote - (well at least for me it would have taken 1/2 hr or more - cuz i proof it don't like how I worded it - have to change this or that) that's all I mean when I said when you have time - tell us your story... Yes I think you and your band are going to be a perfect fit... You understand the head work that goes along with the band work... Lori - - I didn't think you were having a free for all You had already mention the ice cream.. I really think your body is trying to heal from your gall bladder surgery - I would have had the ice cream too - that's all I was saying... Food and why we eat - Yep its for many different reasons -for some it was that they have been sexaully abused and don't want to be attractive and for others it can be the simple case of being bored. I haven't read the Dr Phil book - but I like some of the things he has said - the latest book I had gotten was Dr OZ you on a diet when he came out on Oprah with it (Dr. Phil & Oprah come on the same time here and I can only record one shows) That's where I came up with the it's not the one piece of cake that made you fat - it's cuz you ate 3 or 4 pieces instead of just one small piece occassionally. I think they all have great things to say and make us open our eye and like Ellen said - she learned no matter where you come from we all are basisally the same. Ladies - I will never get after any of you for living life - and living life means having a piece of cake - or a candy, cookie or ice cream occassionally. This isn't a diet it's a new way of life - we use to eat the whole half gallon - we use to eat the whole bag of candy not just one piece - we didn't move we were couch potatoes - we use food to soothe us Heck I have lived my life during the last 12 months - at Christmas time I did avoid the goodies at work (we get tons of stuff from insurance companies and I even got a box of candy from an insured - which i regifted to someone esle:lol:) but I make xmas Cookies with my grandaughters every year - I allowed myself a few cookie when I made them with my girls - I just didn't go hog wild from Thanksgiving to New Years.. I have cake at birthday parties - I just have 1 piece not 10.. At halloween I had a few trick or treat candies.. I am not this super dietier - I just don't consume the quainties that I use to - I no longer eat high fat or sugar foods on a daily basis - I now go to the gym 3 - 4 times a week.. I have changed my lifestyle.. If I want a treat - I just budget those calories into my daily calorie budget and I don't add to them and if I happen to go to high one day then I cut back the next day and do an extra 1/2 mile to a mile at the gym.. This is what healthy pple do... and that's what I want for all of you to become healthy strong women.. Hugs to all of you - my dinner is calling me (ground beef/bell pepper/onion garlic/corn cooked in tomatoe sauce 1/2c - over 1/2 c mashed potatoes) total 1 cup food 340 calorie.. I will ck back later ...
-
Kathy even with restriction there are days you are hungrier than others and you will find that more sold foods do keep you fuller longer and your 1st fill will help - it might not get you to your sweet spot but it will be a beginning - Just keep up the good work !!!! Lori - Yep the more you want that # the harder it is to get - it's been 4 days since your surgery and you might be feeling better but your body is still healing and as you said you haven't made the best food choices - I can tell you for a fact that if I had surgery - I might not be making the best food choices either - but your body does need a few extra calories to heal.. As to changing your ticker - I don't think anyone ever increases it upwards - only down wards... I know that if I have gained weight after going to my sisters in June - I didn't change my ticker - so that's cool don't worry about it :0) Ok Ellen - I know that you and Long were on the show together - but that's about it - I don't watch dr Phil much - I record Oprah :0).. So yes you both need to tell us the story,... Eating - I can tell you that I truly think about everything I eat before it goes in my mouth.. I really haven't had to many screw it moments since I have been banded - Well 2 weekends ago when I went out and had a couple of drinks (well more than a couple:tongue:) when I go home I ate the dips (like bon bons) that my son had not finished before he left and I didn't care - I did say screw it I am eating them - but I gotta say that was the 1st time in the last yr that I had that kind of thinking - but judgement was clouded by the alcohal :whatchutalkingabout:lol: I am glad the services went well.. And yes you are more than 1/2 to goal already - way to go Hugs Janet Joannmarie - my starting bmi was 42.9 and I have lost at a good steady rate - but remember this isn't a race - some are going to lose faster than others - as long as it comes off that's all that really counts, Yep we all want it fast - I can't say I didn't but the weeks that I only lost 1/2 lbs - I was very happy - all I cared about was loss...
-
Karri - Belated Band Anniversary 8/9 - OMW what you have done in a year's time !!! So Proud of you - and I am not to worried about your 3 miles... But agree with DH - don't push too too hard. I can't stay up to 11:30 or Midnight on a weekday - so I watch till I go to bed 9:30 - 10 ish - then in the morning while drinking coffee watch the rest of it... But my dvr stopped before the whole medel ceramoney was over and I didn't get the one from last night with the men's gymnastics. But they did great I am a BIG OLYMPIC FAN !!! I was just as pumped as Michael was when the won the relay - Screw you France for talking crap - and Michael did so well to shake their hands... USA ALL THE WAY !!!!! Steph - you have been a welcome blessing to our group - I forget that you and Karri aren't original Lucky #7 - As far as the leather coats go I want a bradly bardo (sp) or whatever his last name is ... Sunday is gold rush - but I won't be home - but lately I haven't really liked what they have had on gold rush days - plus now the cost of gold is up so much 200 calories bf - lunch 300 - dinner salad 300 - fudgecicle 150 (ate almonds with it) - pudding 60 with almonds so 100 total -chips & salsa 130 that's only 1180 So Karri I totally get how hard it is to up your calories.. Well gotta get to work - Hugs everyone CBL
-
You may want to up calories a little (and keep them varied) and what are you eating (drinking) Soups with sodium?? Are you getting on the scale every day ?? If you are - don't once a week. Our weight flucuates too much - I am big beleiver in once a week - that's not to say that sometime I will jump on it - but it doesn't count until my weigh in day on Thursday.. Just keep following your docs rules - exercise and it will work out in the end.. JoannMarie - My GF Billie who passed away in 93 - she and I would watch the Olympic's on the phone too. :der: Her Mom would call and say what are you doing - watch the Olmpic's with Janet over the phone...:tt2: too funn I thought we were the only ones who have done that.. Well another busy day for me today - I am trying to get 5 days of work done in 3 days - I will be gone Thrusday thru Sunday - going to visit Sister and Son for a few days.. So gotta have a clean desk when I leave. Well of to get my day started - will CBL..

I remember you were struggling back then.. I have another short week - Off Thursday & Friday - so busy at work.. Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
IndioGirl55 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I picked my goal weight from my lowest weight when I was in my 30's which was 170 and that was after losing 40 lbs on weight watches & diet pill - I had never gotten lower than that - so that's the # I picked (250 vs 170 = 80 lbs for a 52 yr old chick was a good amount of weight to loses and again the most I ever lost was 40 on ww) Well when I got to 190 I move my go to 160 - made that on 5/8 and then wanted a normal bmi which for me is 145 - also becuz the statistic say that we (obese pple) are only capable of losing 50-60% of our excess weight with the band I wanted to prove them wrong - that we can lose 100% of our excess weight - what are they saying about us that we can't do it.. It;s a personal choice ... or your doctors... Becky 26 lbs in 6-7 weeks is excellent - I am going to kick your butt for the ONLY word:lol: - you are doing great and you arent going to lose it over night - Patience.... You are doing the work - it will come off.. Hugs J
