Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Hey Beth - Congrats on your 105 lbs - Great job... Yep you young ones (You, Karri & Steph) can be our runners - I don't really aspire to be one - am happy with my walking and weight training :0)... Bat wings - fact of life - sorry to say - working out will help some but DNA is the one that's going make that call - for me it will be surger - but who knows when - $$$ - maybe in the next year ...

    I'm here to help...

Ellen Hugs 1st and foremost and now let's dissect the issue. Are you tracking/logging your calories - you can be under eating... Go get some ducolax (tiny orange color pill laxative) you most likely are retaining Water due to the constipation and drink tons of water today- ice tea etc and get some walkling in - don't fret about the stupid scale - I bet tomorrow or the next day it will be down again once you get this consitpation out of the way.. I find that if I have 2 chew-able Calcium at bed time the next morning i have no problems with my bm's - it's worth the try... It's most likely the constipation and again some pple do gain a little bit before their 1st fill - which if I remember correctly you get in the next week or so - Also, I would say don't wait 5 days for a bm - I will go 2 but no more than 3 - but since I have been doing the chewable calcium I haven't had to take a laxative... Hugs - Just keep up with your healthy eating and depending on what your daily calories are you may want to add some healthy carbs - I have a starch with my dinner - I limit them but I don't exclude them from my eating plan... xoxox Janet

    Tasty recipe for beans??

I make fresh beans - pinto with hamhocks onion jalapenos cummins (sp) and chili powder - if you are on full liquids - after the beans cook - but them in the blender and puree add back to broth and you have cream of bean soup. You can do this with any beans that you like - I make navy beans too with turkey ham -

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I met a girl when in Vegas in June who had the surgery - you could see the scar but it wasn't that bad and she was only like 6 months out from the arm surgery.. They do have a new procdure where they make a hole in your arm pit and pull the skin up - but I don't know how tight they can get it - I think it would depend on how much saggy skin you have. IMHO I think I will take the scar over they saggy skin and scars do fade with time - I had my gallbadder out 20 yrs ago when they still cut you open and that scar has faded.. I'm a yr out from my band surgery and the port site has faded some still a little redish but not bad..

    11 months 1 week - 100 lbs Gone

Thanks Health4life.... Congrats on your being banded.. I do feel wonderful !! Advice - the band is only a tool - the real work is up to you... You have to look at this as a lifetime lifestyle change in your eating not as a diet... I have never looked at this as a diet - I now eat healthy. Diets don't work.. You go off them - go back to eating like you use to (which is what got us fat to begin with) and you regain your weight. Exercise - Physical Activity - You gotta find time (it's there if you quit making excuses ) to walk - lift weight etc - start slow and increase your intenstiy slowly and you can once the weight comes off. Come join my mentor thread - I'm here to help.. Again - Congrats - the band does make a hard job a little easier once you have restriction but again it's won't make your food choices or exercise for you.. That's all up to you. Hugs, Janet

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hey Penny glad to have you back - yep our thread was slow for a while and now it's picked up again with the new banded and to be banded 50+ gang... As far as PS goes - I think it's up to the doc -I have read here where some pple get PS before they have lost all their weight. Me personally I would wait til I got to goal then go for a consultation.. I wouldn't want PS when I still had 50 lbs to go... My girls weren't great before I lost the weight - they are now TOTALLY defated but what bugs me the most is my arms - the rest is taken care of by good foundation - when my $$$ is right I will look into getting my arms done and my face.. And will aske about the rest of the body - who know how much it will cost to have a body lift - but I think about the pain - I don't like pain.. even for vanities sake... Don't know what I will have done..

CONGRATULATIONS !!! When you start back on food it's really no diff than before - except you will be full on a smaller amount - you will now have to eat slower and chew and no drinking with meals and when you forget these rules and you will - your band will remind you.. Lori Congrats on your 2 lbs - that's fantastic $80 for parking are they crazy - ya the whole crowds thing might have been a bit much for me now too - but loved watching it on t.v. but what a rip off on the parking - unbelievabe... PJ - Navy Beans, onion, garlic salt pepper Water ham bone but since it's not thanksgiving - you can use turkey ham cut up in cubes.. Put all in a pot and cook til done - a few hours - I an the kind of cook that just cooks I don't measure or time unless I am bakeing.. If you are all full liquids you take the beans & ham out and put them in the blender and puree them and then add back to the broth - Cream of navy bean soup - I do this with pinto beans too. You can do it with any bean soup you like... Restless - I think we were raised by the same Mom..:w00t: I don't burp often but it's not like a big ugly burp it more like a hicup.. But I rarely do it.. I chew gum, I do straws and I eat popcorn - but I'm a yr out. It is a some pple thing - doesn't happen to everyone Gettin - Can't help on that issue I have had the same job for 29 yrs. Good morning gang - sorry I wasn't around yesterday - had a tad of a hangover - then had to take GS for his back to school haircut then one gf came over to get some protien stuff (she is going for bypass next Friday) and then another GF came over for dinner and visiting.. Hey Gang... Had a bit of a headache yesterday - I now know that 2 drinks is all I can handle - the 3rd one puts me over the limit. So for having a hangover I was pretty busy . We had rain and thunder storm yesterday - so it's quite humid right now. No I don't have an espresso machine - I just bought espresso coffee in a can - I like a dark strong coffee. 3 shots of espresso - omw - I have been getting mine with a shot of expresso - I will have to try the 3.. I really like the Caribou coffee they had in Minnisota better than Starbucks - but heck $4 buck for a small frappachino.. I don't do them too often.. It's over casted here - 102 28% humidity (feels like more) suppose to have a chance of rain tomorrow and Sunday... The Rock Yard where I am going tonite is outside - so have to dress for the weather... But after a couple of drinks it's not bad

Lori You have done better than me - as a kid my family drove across country twice (3rd grade & 5th grade) my Aunt had a house on Lake Champange in Vermont. We drove thru Canada the 2nd time - had maple candy & suryp from vermont - but we ate at regular restaruants - Howard Johnson had terrible food I remember that.. and that Canada was beautiful - so green. I have a friend Mango from my lucky #7 - she lives in LA and that's the #1 place I have always wanted to go to eat.. Osyter - crawdads - aligator - creolo food cajun foods - #2 Eastern Seaboard for the lobser, claim chowder fish et - #3 South for the BBQ but I don't like vinager bbq sauce I like sweet  - I have been to the islands and had jerk chicken - tamales in banana leaves - and a few other local favs - .
