[quote=mrsivo;981530]Lucky 7, I have not been on line for a while, but I am really down about my lapband and needed someone to talk to...I have no idea how I got to this thread, but I read some of your support e-mails and thought you might be able to help me. I was banded in Oct 2007. My doc did not put any fluid in at surgery, so my weight loss was slow. It took a while, Jan 2008 to be exact before I had an restriction. I currently have 7.5 ccs in a 10cc band. For about 3 months after the Jan fill I would throw up because I was so used to be able to eat whatever. It took a while to get back into the swing of things, but during that time I developed a habit of eating soft foods...fatty soft foods to be exact!!! Now I have lost 40 lbs and beginning to gain weight. I am so excited to be able to eat and not throw up and be able ta acutally swallow the medicines I am on that I don't want to be too tight again, but there has to be a happy medium where I'm not hungry, but don't throw up when I eat. Can you give me some pointers?? Mrsivo - Hugs I am sorry for your struggles.. Here is my tough band love (but note that the operative word is love) #1 You may be too tight if you can't eat hard protein without pbing. Are you taking tiny bites and chewing and eating slowly??? If you are doing these things and can't eat hard protein then I would suggest going back to your doctor and having a little taken out. I am at my sweet spot - which for me is 1 cup for breakfast and lunch and dinner can be 1 to 1/2 c of food - I choose to eat healthy - lots of fish (I like it) veggies - brown rice etc. But I will tell you that I can be physically full from my food but still want to eat - this is our head hunger talking to us and it feels like real hunger - Also for me my band does not take away my hunger - yes I will stay full longer but I still get hungry. IMHO the band is a great tool - but it's only that - a tool - the band its self isn't going to make you lose weight - only you can do that by choosing healthy foods Secret - There really isn't one - I had major frickin surgery - I was 52 when banded - I have fewer yrs ahead of me than what's behind me and I want to extend the years I have left and I wanted to improve the quality of my life. So my head is totally in the game. I was told over and over again here on LBT by my 50+ ladies that the band was only a tool - So I knew going in that this had to be a LIFETIME LIFESTYLE change in my life. Also, I have the experience of all my other dieting efforts - and I am able to use the information I learned in Weight Watcher in helping me eat healthy (not diet) and exercise. I eat healthy 98% of the time - I allow for treats 2% of the time - but those calorie are not in addition to my daily budget of 900-1200 but included in. I exercise 3-4 days a week (2 cardio - 2 weights) - I also keep a food diary (on my 5th book) where I track my calories & pt grms. I bought a scale that gives me all the info on whatever I am weighing - I used it alot in the being but now I know what a portion size looks and know most of the calories by heart of the foods i eat (I still pull it out when I am eating something different) I eat off of a sandwich plate - use children's utensils - and have a little bowl that holds one cup. I still eat out - Mexican or Chinese - but I eat 1/4 what I ate before - I eat minimum 1 cup per meal - usually 1 to 1/2 - but some nights it can be 2 cups.. I eat low fat - mostly sugar free - and I do eat carbs/starches I always have some form of starch with my dinner - usually 1/2 cup of rice. So if the above is a secret - it's not any longer I am more than willing to share - as I know how it feels to be the Fat Chick - and in my head I still have her - but before long she will be replaced by the new thinner & healthier chick and I want everyone here to share the joy in meeting and exceeding your goals and to feel so much better. Heck no wonder I was so tired before I was carring around 105 sack of potatoes on my back. I firmly believe that 75% of the work is mental and the band does the other 25% by providing restriction. (this is the real secret - knowing that you are going to have to work at this - that the band isn't going to do it by itself)

Froggi - someone on the web was saying that the baby wasn't her's but her daughters baby - that's how this all got started. The party had to but the truth out there - McCain knew all this when he picked her. What are they going to judge Palin about - cuz her daughter got pg ?? Come on you aren't to far out of your teens yourself - did you do what your mommy told you to do.... For me it's been quite a few years since I was a teen and can tell you I did what I wanted to do not what my parents said.. -
Gettin - How often are you weighing in - it can be Water weight - Sunday morning I weighed 148 - Monday morning 145 - just cuz I weighted 148 on Sunday - I didn't say F it an eat - We can never say F it and eat cuz the scales went up. We just have to keep plugging along - Bandster Hell is really hard for some - I can't say that it was that tough for me as ya I might not had much restriction - but with my healthy food choices and exercises I still managed to lose weight... Just cuz the scales went up one day - allow your self to say F it - this isn't a diet it is a lifestyle change... RestlessMonkey - Thanks so much for your great accolades.. They are much appreciated - but as I have said a million times - I am just a fat chick talking fat chick talk - I an no diff than any of you and I want all of you to feel 10 yrs younger feel 200% better and start enjoying your lives.. To fill empowered by your accomplishment in making a change in your lives.. Hugs - Janet

Denise from what the news says - looks like your house should be ok.. Still keeping you in my prayers thought they are talking about more hurricanes but looks like the east coast is going to get the next one but I don't know about the one behind that one - and we still have to worry about the butthead looters... Linda you gotta tell us about your new GD - she is BEAUTIFUL.... So talk to you all in the morning - sweet dreams OK I am off to the couch and dinner - back to work tomorrow

Hey Becky Are you full on what you ate? I think the amount of food that you can or can not eat is really a personal decision - How much salad a big bowl or a cup - you are eating normal portions - this isn't about eating 1/4 of a cup of food to me that's not normal - Eating a sandwich (talking a reg sandwich like you are eating not a 12 inch sub - I don't think I could eat a big roll like (even a 6 inch sub) that but I can eat sandwich bread (lite) and being full from it is normal - The band is not about starving yourself - and not getting enough nutritions ..This isn't a diet remember that. It's about restriction - how much you can eat at one sitting if you could eat 2 sandwich's then I would say you need to be tighter but you sound OK - Are you losing weight each week? You are making healthy food choice and that's what's needed - you aren't eating tons of fat or sugar . As far as being beat from your exercise - ya if it's a chore and you are to wiped out afterward - i would slow it down some - you can either walk a shorter distant every day or longer ones every other day.. If you make it to hard on yourself you are going to quit doing it.. On the exercise front - I would go 4-5 days in the beginning and about every 2 weeks would increase my speed and distant. Even now - I go twice a week for cardio (treadmill) I walk 3 to 3.5 miles in 52 minutes - some days I increase the incline more and do just 3 miles and other days I increase the speed and do 3.5 and every now and then I may do 4 miles on a Saturday morning if I am feeling particularly Strong.. But I don't make it a chore - I do work out but not to the point of being too tired. Slow and easy the turtle won the race. Are you drinking enough Water and are you taking Vitamins?? Yes it takes work on your part for this to be successful - The band is only a tool - you make your food choices you decide if you want to exercise - I say that 75% of the work is up to me by making healthy food choices and not eating around my band which I could easily do - and me for the exercising - the band does the other 25% by providing restriction. But this is my personal opinion - Some pple say it's 50% 50% -- This is how you are going to live the rest of your life. This isn't a diet.. During my weight loss stage I was happy eating a cup for Breakfast & lunch and dinner sometime would be 1 to 1 1/2 cups - but I was physically full on this amount of food (not alway mentally) Was/am I still hungry at times - yep - there are still days that I want to eat - and I could graze all day on high fat or high sugar foods - but I choose not to My doc decides if I need a fill by the amount of weight I would lose between appts. I will tell you one thing - you don't want to be too tight it's awful being too tight - I was for 1 week - could only eat Soup and maybe 1/2 cup - I hated it I wanted real food and more than 1/4 c of it..- I had to take tiny sips of water - eating was just to hard - it hurt ... But I will say all it takes is one time of being too tight to know that you don't want it again..

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?

McCain has the same NV on the issues too except the stimulus pkg They were both out trying to get nominated as their parties presidential candidate and truely their one vote wasn't going to be a tie breaker.. Project Vote Smart - Senator John Sidney McCain III - Voting Record Also Barack isn't going to have the same number of votes as McCain as he hasn't been in the Senate as long as McCain.. -
Are We Ready For A Woman VP?
IndioGirl55 replied to Daisalana's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was 15 when I got pg - 16 when I had my son - My Father wouldn't allow me to marry (my Dad was a Republican) - Did that make my Dad a bad Dad from what I did - Nope.. Do I think it's a wise choice as a VP candidate... Don't know.. Time will tell.. -
Watching the RNC - Laura Bush is talking so gotta go and see what she has to say - The poor Republican's and the hurrricane... Now the teenage preganacy of vp daughter -- well, just goes to show you that is doesn't matter if you are republican or democrats crap happens - too bad that this has to be blasted all over the news. Don't know if McCain was really thinking when he made this choice... I could see it hurting him with the right wing religous pple... I don't think that her getting married is necessarily the answer... Feel sorry for them - this is why I could never be in politicis - NOTHING IS PRIVATE NOT EVEN YOUR HEMROIDS
-
Well have done ok - 2 egg omlett with cheese & salsa for bf - then 10 chips & salsa - crystal light - 1 oz cheese 2 crackers - 1 cup bean soup broth. Dramabean (sp) less drowsy - take it the day before you go and agian the day you go.. I don't get sick on rollercoaster - sometime in cars or airplane and boats - the trick with the dramabean is to take it 24 hours before you need it - I have done that and it did help... I remember you saying that you were going - I thought your Mom was getting her surgery in Sept so maybe it was the trip that was happening in september

Why do we follow a LF/SF diet after banding?
IndioGirl55 replied to Maribelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree 100% - this is how I lost 100% of my excess weight - Plus you gotta add exercise in the mix too.. I also weighed and measured food and kept a food diary for the 1st year -
Steph Sorry DH & you are having a bad day - sometimes it's just that way - you know men pms too  I am lucky my little angel is like a cat - she doesn't require too much attention - Lil Bear is the one who likes to play fetch and wants more attention and he's my runner - don't leave the door open or he's out the door - Angel will go out but come back/stop when you tell her to - Bear want's to go mark up the neighborhood.. Diff between boy & girl i guess. OK gang - I want to eat - I have had 2 egg omeltte with cheese and my homemade salsa and now 10 chips and salsa - it seems like when I start to eat I just want to continue... But I just paid bills and don't have the $$$ to go shopping so can't get out of the house and distract myself with that - and no ones here - well I guess I will surf the net and board for a while to keep myself out of the kitchen... CBL:tongue:

Ellen Yep getting on the scale daily is not good for your morale - Once a week is my suggestion - it's what I do - I may step on during the week - but the only day that really counts is Thursday which is my weigh in day... I have attached my menu - it's mostly about regular food though are you on regular food.. I really sympathize with the family situation - I am lucky that I don't have those issues (some good things about being single:tongue:) But look you didn't eat the chips or anything else in sight that is something to be proud of.. Just enlist others to help so that you don't have to do all the work - that's how I entertain - here's the food & drinks help your self - I want to enjoy the party too.. I know you are pooped from taking care of everyone - but you MUST carve out 1/2 to 1 hr just for you - tell your family that you have to do this for your mental healthy or you can't be held responsible for your actions (going crazy on them) - go to curves or walk - but this is your time and you will feel more energized after you have done it... I always do.. Hugs.. Janet

Kathy When I woke up after surgery the 1st thing I thought of was WTF have I done :frown::frown: - I don't like pain at all.. But I can't say I had a panic attack - I did have bad gas pain in my shoulder the 2nd day - but day 3 was better - day 4 even better and was back to work day 6 (desk job) Just take it one day at a time - it does get better it really does  Hugs Janet

Thanks Barb - Which one on the VP that I own a gun I should be VP :0) I just couldnt help that one - when they showed her on tv with her rifle and that she's a member of the NRA - big whoop - what does that have to do with the price of tea in china and having a handicaped child or son in the army or being a soccer mom... There are a ton's of pple who are in the same boat - I guess they are just trying to make her a regular joe.. But the gun thing just got me.. Things that the news tells us is just plain stupid - are you going to vote for someone just cuz they are a member of the nra... Come on now we Americans are smarter than that I hope... I respect each persons decision to vote for the person they want to as that's why we have the diff parties - it the American way.. Well don't be too proud of me on the exercise issue- I didn't go to the gym this morning after all.. I had a few drinks Friday night and yesterday the scale said 148.. I jumped on the scale after I got dressed for the gym this morning - and guess what it said 145 :frown: so I figured that once today was going to be enought to maintain my weight.. Had the scale said 148 I would have gone and walked this morning.. Yep GS is better - had to get after him yesterday to wear his brace - so his pain level had decreased - but he did put it back on... and yesterday he drove for the 1st time since his accident - School starts tomorrow and I guess I will have to drop off and pick up for a few days until his car is ready... Lori You did excellent at your bbq - and there are going to be days that nutrition isn't going to be 100% but heck that's life - and some days you are going to have 150% nutrition so that will make up for the days that you don't. Yep be proud and energize... This is really doable... LOL about your Sisters... Maybe you will be their motivators
-
Good Morning Gang... How is everyone doing on this last day of our 3 day weekend??? Ellen - How are you doing today ??? I know that alot of you will be at bbq this weekend - enjoy yourself remember this is not a diet - moderation that's the key - When I was still in the weight loss mode and at a bbq - I would have a little of this or that but just a little - even a piece of cake - this is a lifestyle change not a diet and if I did have that cake then I would just amp up my exercise a bit to compensate - that's what pple do who have a healthy lifestyle ... Well, just cking in - going to the gym this morning to walk since I didn't on Saturday and will go back tonite to meet with trainer.., So I will ck back when I get back
-
Congrats on the weight loss - That's why I don't have a bike - I have had too many crashes... Steph - you want a greyhound dog ???? You did good on your calories and protein... ------------------------------------------------------------------' Good morning gang... Looks like Gustav is going to miss Denise's house - Thank the Lord... From what I see on tv it's not a direct hit - they do have wind and one of the canals is leaking but not a direct hit .. Well fur babies woke me at 6:15 but laid back down on the couch and napped for about 1 hrs... Up now and drinking coffee - going to the gym and get my walking in this morning - I didn't go Saturday and I am feeling it.. I go back to night for weights w/trainer - but I am feeling really blah I need to sweat and walk... Well, back to work for me tomorrow :frown: Checking in will cbl :frown:

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?
IndioGirl55 replied to Daisalana's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
From what I can tell - it is a fact based site and it helps with the BS that both side put out - or what one person says depending on their political view. Now a days it's hard to get an unbiased opinion any subject. I really don't think any of us have the time to peruse either candidates voting recorders or parental lineage.. So we have to base our votes on what we get from the media - which IMHO is skewed most of the time. If you choose to vote Republication Great - If you choose to vote Democrat Great - That's what the USA is about - to be able to vote for the person you feel will serve you best in office. It's not about putting anyone down for their beliefs. We all are entitled to our personal beliefs and it doesn't make you right or me wrong - it just means that we have a diff of opinion... -

Did you take a picture ?? I think I remember that - btw - the girls voted that Linda & I had the same bat wings. But I think she thinks her's are worse and I think mine are - but you know how it is we are hypercritical of ourselves.... I am trying to learn to live with it and winter is coming so will the longer sleeve... Yippie !!!

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?
IndioGirl55 replied to Daisalana's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Nope !!! Hockey Mom as President nope - what 2 yrs experience as Governor.. What credence does it give her that she has a handicapped child or son that went to Iraq ... Big whop - how many other women in this world have the same issues - does that make them right to be VP or president.. I don't think so.. I think this was a move on McCain's part to distant his self from the same old republican party = trying to get the Hillary vote. I don't agree with her with alot of her views - and just cuz she is a member of the NRA so friggin what - I have a gun too - so I get to run for VP maybe he should have picked me :wink2: Drilling is not the answer we need to have alternative renewal energy...
