Ruby - But all those bites of this or that add up - for me it was mostly avoidance that got me to goal - I didn't do too much tasting on a regular basis - Most of my treats were sf - so I saved a lot of calories. High protein - limited carb and tons of veggies and I do eat sweets most nights just sf treat. Also for me I was challenged by the fact that they say we can only lose 50 to 60% of our excess weight - hell no - you are telling me I can't lose my weight - that as a fat person I am incapable of losing all my weight even with WLS.. That was another thing for me - I will prove you wrong. Kari - you gotta cut the treats - eat them less often - til you get to goal push the protein & veggies - limit the carbs and sweets - you will get there.. Phyl - Hugs on the bad day - Today is a new day better choices. !!! Candice - those are still my hours too... just budget your calories to allow for them - That's what I have always done - skip the morning snacks eat light for breakfast and lunch - save your caloires for night - I figure I am not going to be able to change my night hunger no matter how hard I try - so I just have a workable plan - so far so good.. Well, I can't change my fonts or colors - whats up with that... cbl..

No Plain - My deductible went up because my employer chose to go with a plan that would give the the possibility of a credit at the end of the year back to them. I work in the insurance industry (pc side)- I know why it was done. More $$ in their pockets - Most employer in this world don't really give a darn about their employee anymore - not like in the old days (yes I am old enough to say those kinds of things have been working for 34 yrs) Like I said - I don't know how it can be done - I will admit to being an Idealist and wish for a perfect world. I do think that we have to take the steps needed in order for pple to be able to get coverage - Lady lost her job - cobra ran out - got breast cancer - what's she to do.. The government doesn't run the banks - those mortgage brokers made boo coo bucks on their commission by getting loans approved Job outsourcing is part of the cost of doing business and the pple who own those companies can outsource so they don't have the spend as much $$$ for payroll - health care etc - governments fault how - should there be a law that you can't outsource - it's their fault they want to make more $$$ - are we to regulate how much money a company or person makes. I don't know about a whole bunch or government regulations I want in this world - We don't live in cuba or a communist country. I don't agree with it but it's their right - maybe if we the pple of this nation - stockholders etc got together and spoke about these things to the pple who outsource then maybe there would be a change. I agree 100 % that our government is for all pple and not just the wealthy and agree with the tax cuts for the wealthy and that they don't always pay their proportioned share in taxes. It is proportionately shown that the rich do pay less than the average joe. I don't have the answers - if I did I would be President I guess or a zillionaire - I know how to run my household - I know that right now I don't have as much $$ in which to do that this year - that the cost of everything is going up. I am fortunate that I make more than $10 an hour - I am fortunate that I do have health care I do believe that we need a Change - But I am not willing to put all the blame on our government ( Obama said this too in his speech) Pple do have to take responsibilities for the things they do and no the government shouldn't be giving tax cuts to these corps that outsource etc - the oil companies profits - I gotta say - I disagree with them raping us pple to put more $$$ in their pocket - but again government regulations on how much $$ a company can make.. Where does it stop - I am not super well versed in all this political stuff - to get in a full on debate on all these subject - I am just an average person who is trying to live my life the best that I can - and I am willing to give a hand up to those who need it - but I can't dictate to others that it's their moral responsibility to do the same and believe the same as me. Who am I to dictate anything to anyone - We don't live in a dictatorial country - we live in a Democratic country and if pple would get off their butts and write a letter - speak their minds to the pple that matter and who can change things - then maybe things would at least start to change. Our government is letting a genocide continue at this very minute - in the year 2008 we have a Holocaust going on - we are pples voice about that why is our country looking the other way. Well said - I hate the personal attacks from either side !! I listen - I thought she did well but not sold on her either and don't know if I every will but I will listen to her and McCain - lets see how the debates go.. -

Lizalee - Hugs sorry for your struggles - Yep a LONG walk is in order My suggestion is advoidance - I still avoid foods that I know I can put me back in the other direction - I do have restriction on my side though but it doesn't help with sweets.. You could eat a bun?? if you can - you need to call the doctor for another fill cuz you don't have enough restriction - I can eat sandwich bread but I know that I could not eat a bun. You just gotta say no - you are stronger that that stupid food - if you want a sweet - eat a sf one - I do every single night - 1 -2 or 3 of them - the total calories if I eat 2 pudding and 1 fudge cicle is 220 . I still get the quanity I want but not the calories if I ate non-sf.. You got banded to live a healthier lifestyle - and a little fair food isn't going to kill you but you have to say to yourself - this is my treat - I am going to enjoy it but no more after this.. This food doesn't fit into my new healthy lifestyle.. I guess it's easier said than done - I went to the fair when it was here ate 1/4 corn on the cob - 1/2 egg roll - 1/4 of cinnimon roll. But the very next day went back to healthy eating - I threw away the cinimon roll cuz I knew I would keep picking at it... For me none of the stuff I ate really tasted as good as I had remembered - that being said I have not had a brownie in 14 months. I would never dare to make a batch and have them in the houses.. Advoidance... I just don't start so I don't have to stop.. That's what works for me... Especially at home.. Phyl - Hugs on the bad mood - Good for you for compensating for your wine... Lori Congrats on your loss and hope the shot and meds fix that darn rash... Well the RNC is coming on - and since I am an equal opportuintiy person - gotta go hear what Palin has to say - will be interesting... I agree with you to a degree - but how is it the government fault that pple are losing their house - that's not the governments fault - that the mortgage brokers and their creative mortgaging - making it possible for pple to buy houses that they couldn't afford. Our government will not let the major banks fail - and I agree we are in a resseccion I am voting for Obama - but he to doesn't have alot of experience either - yes ihmo more than Palin - and he will have Biden to help (that's why he was chosen imo) I agree we need universal health care - how they are going to pay for it I don't know - but I do agree that if you are sick and can't afford it - you should have access to medical services - How is someone with a $10 hr job going to afford health care when their employer doesn't provide - Heck I have it - but now my deductible is $1880 vs $250 last yr. I believe in giving pple a hand but not a hand out.. I believe in the freedom of choice - but I don't think that we can blame all the problems we have on the government (dem or rep).. Some of it is our own doing - litigious society - pple looking for hand outs and not the hand up.. -

Ya you have no restriction - give this fill a day or 2 and if you still don't have any call your doc and get another one... I guess I have been very lucky my doc was agressive by my 2nd fill I really was at my sweet spot -

Why do we follow a LF/SF diet after banding?

I had to do 10 days each phase - full liquids - mushies - soft - regular and didnt get my 1st fill till 8 weeks out. You will find that all the doc are diff and as restlessmonkey says - you gotta follow your doc's advice... For me full liquids included yogurts - pudding - fudgecicles - popcicles which all were to be sugar free. I still eat all these items - and still use the sf verisions - I don't want 200 caloris for a yogurt or ice cream - which i eat daily - I do allow for treats - real sugar & something higher in fat about once a week - but again I am trying to maintain my weight not lose any more - the sf/lf is all about calories - cuz it all boils down to calories in vs calories out to lose weight. IMHO - if someone want the full sugar stuff and higher fat foods in lesser quanities and are still losing weight and it works for then - go for it ... For me I like the sf/lf stuff and it works for me... -
No problem - I am the worst in my grammer - we aren't english teachers here and the ones who are over look it - we had this discussion a long time ago.. Cuz my spelling is bad and I don't always spell check and am a terrible proof reader of my Ok with that info - I would quit going too.. Really my girls here have been my support - and agree we aren't suppose to drink our protein -8.57 oz of meat provides your 60 grms of protein - that's 2.68 per meal and doable even with good restriction. Sorry you don't have restriction yet - but know it can take a few days for a fill to settle in - and again for me the fill doesn't take away my hunger - it just restricts how much I can eat. How much can you eat per meal - what are you eating..

Brand Name - Pure Protein - I got mine at Target but see them everywhere now - cvs - walgreens and even Stater Brothers.. 20 grs of protein - I have the all choc one and choc Peanut Butter ones - my freind told me to put in the fridge - they are good cold - chewy and filling - for me like a candy bar 190 calories though .. I like the southbeach bars too 19 grs of pt 210 calories and they are big...

What advice are they giving you??? Whats the cautionary tale. Have they pple been banded longer than you. Have they been successful or not as successfull as you.. My 2 cents - I don't go to mine #1 cuz it's too far away and it's on my exercise night and 2 girls there were I can't do this or than and it's very small - for me I found that my Lucky #7 and 50 + and LBT in general was all the support I needed. It depend on what you want - abd what you get out of them...

Have you tried the sf Jello dark choc puddings - very good too. Last night Snacks after dinner was 1 sf pudding with some almond added and 1 pure Protein choc bar that was in the fridge makes them nice and chewy...

Linda Drink more water - which will make you pee more to get the water off - Only 30-40 protein - I am suppose to have minimum 60 - reduce your carbs - I know a girl who says that for her carbs make her retain water and my trainer told that to my workout partner too.. He is going to understand if they have taken away your water pill - they may need to put you back on it. Are you tracking your calories have you changed your eating or exercise since going off your pills and gaining the 5 lbs - if you haven't changed your eating then I would say it's water weight.. Becky - it's normal to be hungry before your next meal and if you are not making it between meals then add a healthy low calorie snack. Yes you are doing excellent on your weight loss and you should be very proud of that.. Yep exercise does get easier as we get healthier... Keep up the good work Becky... Getthin - Yep this is a big mind game - the band helps but our heads keep getting in the way sometimes

11 months 1 week - 100 lbs Gone

Yvonne - Yep every single doc here is different - I only had to do 1 week pre-op 7/8 to 7/17 - my doc supplied the food - oatmeal - shake - Soup - Protein Bars - the soup was awful (they were out of a lot of stuff the day I got my food) so I called and asked if I could have a piece of fish and salad for dinner as I wasn't going to be able to hang with the awful tomatoe soup - they said ya it was ok just stay away from the carbs.. I was lucky - plus I have read that it takes more that 1 week of pre-op to shrink your liver and during that week I still had my colonoscopy to do so that was a clear liquid no food day besides the clear liquid no food before surgery.. I have a gf who has surgery on Friday - she too had to do 6 month diet and has lost 60 lbs in those 6 months and she feels that it has helped prepare her for her new lifestyle.. The only thing I can really tell you is that this is not a diet but a lifestyle change and the band is only a tool - those are the 2 most important things to realize before surgery - There are some who think that the band alone is going to do all the work - well that's a falsehood - the work is up to you the band is only a piece of plastice - it doesn't have a brain Good Luck on your journey - you are learnig new habits which will help you once you are banded. I agree - in watching Lieberman last night and he has switched - well really and independant - but for McCain - Wasn't there a guy at the DNC who was Republican and switch.. That's interesting that it's the 10% flip flops that win the race.. And I can say in the past that I have been the flip flop I have voted Republican it's not just the party thing for me.. -
Hey gang - I know a few of you are 50+ers so you have read this post already - but thought I would share with the under 50 pple too :party: Charlene I usually eat 1 cup per meal - this morning dannon light and fit yogurt and 1/4 c granola - starving by 11 had a Fiber one bar - lunch 1 cup if not a little more of pinto Beans with some ham - 1 bite of lemon cooler cake (sliver bite) - this afternoon hungry but didn't eat anything that's a lie I remember i had one 2 x 2 chunk of watermelon and drank my Water - just got back from exercise and am not hungry right now - dinner will be 4 oz fish - 1/2 c rice and 1/2 c veggies - then a pudding - fudgecile or popcorn -depending on my hunger it could be 1 or 2 or all 3. I am a night time eater I have always been and always will be - I have always budgeted my calories to compensate for this - I usually don't eat Snacks during the day cuz I have to save those calories for my night time munchies - I tell you all that I am a food addict as longs as I don't eat I am fine but once I start - it's like someone opened the flood gates - this is mostly at night but I am always tell everyone - I can eat dinner and be physically full but want to eat more.. My band stops me from eating a lot at one time but it doesn't stop me from grazing.... And I could do that.. Last night had 4 may 5 oz of steak - small read potato and 4 small Brussels sprouts - then about 2 hrs later had fudgecicle and 2 pudding all sugar free - Snacks - 100 calorie popcorn - sf choc & banana & choc puddings 60 calories - string cheese -80 calories fiberone bar 130 or a Protein Bar 190- watermelon 100- sf fudgecicles 100- pringles lite (made with that olseo something - 14 chips for like 70 calories - and may have with lite sour cream - 24 tostedo bite size chips 130 calories - Attached is a sample menu... A lot of pple say that fill helps their hunger - for me it does and it doesn't - I do stay full longer (as long as I am eating hard protein) but I can't say that it takes away my hunger 100% - I still think about food and want to eat food - and I do - now it's just healthier food and less of it and not as often - I have learned that being hungry isn't going to kill me - but being fat was - and when I can't ignore it any more - I find something to eat that will be filling and not full of calories.. My doc told me I need to eat more during the day so that I didn't want to eat at night - I have tried and tired it doesn't work for me - so I do what works for me .. I budget my calories to feed my hunger when I don't have the control - which for me is at night. I am a firm believer in doing what works for you - if eating 1 cup for the 3 meals makes you feel full and for a longer period then do that.. It's up to you but you really do have to find out what works the best for you - so that you will be able to make this a lifetime change... Ok another book of Janet's - I am sure glad you guys don't complain about my long post:lol:

Pple seem to ignore that when Clinton came into office our bank account was in the red from bush sr - when he l(clinton) left office we were in the black - both bushes - seem to like the color red better than black... cuz we are right back in the red again.. And it's your interpretation as to what the book of revelations means - again it was written by man - don't get me wrong I believe in God - it's just like politics - it's your interpretation.. To each their own. As for having to serve in the military in order to be President - That's BS What does taking order have to do with the price of tea in china - shooting a gun - most of our military are grunts - they aren't officers so would that be the next requirement only officers could be president - As to being Lapband - we talk alot about life in general - I really don't think here or in person that these discussions are going to change anyone opiionon on who they want to vote for - Do any of you think that you are going to be able to convience someone of the other party to vote your way... I don't - I know that no way am I going to convience Gadgelady to vote Democrat - Just like she isn't going to get me to vot for McCain This really all started out about do you think we are ready for a women (no name just a female) vp and you know what I think that we all can agree on that one YES.... -

PHYL OMG ANOTHER CONGRATS FOR YOU TODAY 30 TO 24 IS FRICKIN GREAT !!! AND FOR $6.75 WHAT A STEAL - YOU GO GIRL !! When you come back this winter and we get together we will have to take a pic and compare from last Nov... You might not see the diff - but I have from what April to July you are just doing great... You really really have done so well with this - especailly considering that you can't exercise like the rest of us can... You are an inspiration... Steph - I love it faking yourself out - yep when you are sick you are not suppose to exercise to strenously.... Good for at least trying.. Kari - I like Curciut City or Costco - 42 inch - I buy the one that I think has the best picture for the $$$ i want to spend.. I have like a 47 inch projection - got it 4 yrs ago - the flat screens where still priced out of my league back then - the have come donw in price alot in the last 5 yrs - but I think my son said Viso is the best - but that most likely means $$$$ Karri - I have been wondering - but figured since you can run again you have been busy doing that and getting ready for school... Miss you though

Mrsivo - Yep sweets are a hard one - I like my sweets too - but now I eat sf ones 98% of the time - every now and then I will have a real candy bar or piece of cake or cookie - but like once a month. I make these little banana pudding cups - sf banana pudding - lite cool whip - banans - mini vanill wafers - 1/2 cup containers - Make pudding as directed add some cool whip to it and blend it - put a mini wafer in the bottom of the 1/2 c container - top with a banana - spoon in the pudding mixture - another wafer another piece of banana and then more pudding - it's great.. I eat my sf sweets most nights - sf pudding or ww fudgecicle - I also will eat a snack pack popcorn to - to feed my head hunger issues. You can do this - no excuses are allowed - when that little devil is on your right shoulder telling you it ok to have this fat or sugar laden food - I am the little food angel on your right shoulder - tell you that a sf treat will be just as good and if that darn little devil keeps on talking to you then the little angel on your right shoulder is going to turn in to the food cop and pull her gun and shoot that little devil - so play that scene out in your mind when you want to go against a healthy eating lifestyle - and if nothing else you will get a laugh and make you forget about eating :blushing: Neen - Sorry for your struggles too Hugs .. I am glad you are going to go in for another fill - the band is a tool but that tool can't work properly if not maintained.. So you need to keep it maintain.. That being said - it's only a tool and only you are in control of you and your food choices - you band is going to control your portions. Darling, you and I are the same age and I can tell you this - I really do feel 10 yrs youngs - am so much stronger - the quality of my life has improved vastly and above all else have prolonged my life for a few more years. I am off all blood pressure meds - no more cpap machines and those are all the reasons I was banded in the first place - but got to admitte the icing on the cake is when pple call me tiny... Yes me the former 250 50+ chick is now refered to as tiny.. Loving it.. You can do it - I did it and I am no diff than you - Just pull up those bootstraps and move forward... One day at a time...
