Phyl - Super Target is suppose to open 10/12 - the Winco is suppose to open today 9/8 - I didn't food shop this weekend - will go after the gym tonite and ck it out. Blackberry pie w/ice cream  - I had one mex wedding cookie  Ruby - Great on your tracking - would agree more protein - but some days I don't get enough - I know that I have a hard time when out and about on my food choices - there really isn't anything too healthy at the fast food and that's when the old brain takes over for me - but I can't eat most of it.. Nope - I think we all need to email them.. Steph - what's your mom's Handle her - Rose don't lurk post - you are a lucky #7 even if you aren't banded - you can be our mascot  Zolfot had me not caring either... Candice Ruby you did great yesterday too... Both you and Candice are going to be to goal before you know it... ------------------------------------------------------------------ Good morning Gang - Just cking in - never turned on the computer yesterday - I wasn't in the mood to use my brain  or fingers. Washed - did my Target shopping - came home read - gave the dogs baths - watched tv... I ate a whole chicken enchilada last night (well really it was made with turkey breast but dont tell andrew he thought it was chicken) So didn't have much restriction last night - Well, gotta get my butt in gear - I will cbl

Lexi yes you are doing this right - all you have to do is post your questions here and we will answer - when you come back go to user cp and this thread should pop up or go to subscriped threads too.. Here for you. Deb - It really doesn't matter what band you have - and our bands are fickled some days we can eat others we cant - and we can get stuck on soft foods if we are eating too fast or taking too big of bites.. Becky - I have an in ground pools and I don't heat it in the winter but it still has Water - 110 yesterday- the pool will still be usable for another month till the weather starts cooling off - which usually isn't til Oct. Then it just sits there full of water and not used (cost too much to heat) until next April/May - but still have to pay the pool man.. Love the look of the pool but not the expense. Congrats on your new undies - & good food choices  Lori - Next is no more lane bryant - it will be difficult at first - but it is great - I still don't shop at victoria secrets - those bras & panties in their stores seem like they are for the younger girls who don't need as much support  Antique - The #'s you quoted are average (I don't think they give us enough credit and that was a motivation for me) - I lost 100 lbs in 11 months and 1 week (banded 7/17 250 - 6/24 150 - today 145) - there are alot of pple who lose 100 lbs in less than a year - it's up to you and the work you do to get it off. I changed the way I ate - I added exercise in my life and I lost the weight - The band makes a hard job a little easier... Glad to have you..

Steph - CONGRATULATIONS 80 LBS - WTG GIRL  Candice - CONGRATS on getting a SIL  I remember you telling me how much you liked him - How sweet that he proposed in front of you and DH... Tomorrow you can ask all those questions:lol: Your calories are great and I am so glad you are back on track - now you really have a goal to strive for your MOTB DRESS  Well I don't think I am going out - it's hot and I really don't feel like it - infact all I did was get my nails done today then came home - watch my soap from last week (amc) and tried to nap but really couldn't - The new Winco grocery store opens on Monday - but I don't think I want to go on opening day - but who knows - I don't know if I will like it cuz it's a bag your own grocery kind of store - but the prices are suppose to be great - so we will see.. Well just cking in- will cbl

Becky CONGRATS ON YOUR 35 LBS... Yep we think if we drink it will wash it thru - BIG mistake - I did it too but no more. Some pple chew papaya tablets when they get meat stuck - you can get them at walmart. I don't use them but a lot of pple do. If I get stuck - it either goes down in about 10 mintues or it comes back up. I find that getting up and walking around helps - some one says to put your arms over your head... Glad you are doing well and that the execise is getting easier - it will I know 6 months ago when I got my trainer he put me on the treadmill with incline of 3 or 4 speed 2.5 and told me not to hold on - he didn't care how fast my speed was - but to walk on incline and not to hang on.. Ltt me tell you it was hard... I could barely do this and I had been on the treadmill for 8 months Today I did incline of 12 - speed 2.5 without holding on... Great NSV..

Deb - sorry for your struggles but there is no secret really - it take will and determination to change your life - it's work - but the lapband makes a hard job just a little easier This has never been a diet for me this is a lifetime lifestyle change in my eating and exercising. In my weight lost months - I kept my calories between 800-1200 and I varied them - I exercised 4-5 days a week - the 1st 8 months just the treadmill - but in March I got a personal trainer and I now work weights twice a week and carido twice a week - I am in the gym 4 days out of 7 most of the time.. I kept a food diary and counted calories and Protein grams and had limited carbs - The band is only a tool to help with your portion control it doesn't make your food choices or it doesn't do the exercise. Losing weight is all about calories in vs calories burn - plan and simple as that. I am 1 yr 2 months out and I am still learning how to control my head hunger issues ... I can be physically full from my dinner and still want to eat Our head hunger issues are our real problems - As fat chicks the minute we thought we were hungry we would eat - then eat again - we would eat past full - All of us have diff issues with food some more complicated and some as simple as boredom. We use food to soothe us when we are upset, angry or sad - we use food to comfort us - we use food to Celebrate and as reward for something or cuz someone told us we shouldn't - we use our fat as a barrier against the world. All these things are the mental issue that must be dealt with if we want to lose the weight and keep it off for good Diets don't work cuz the minute you go off them and go back to eating normal you gain all your weight back - eating normal for us is what got us fat in the 1st place. I just want you to know that even with the band it's work - it's still hard -- it takes will power to make good food choices and discipline to go to the gym or workout where ever you choose You gotta follow the band rules - protein 1st - veggie 2nd and if any room starches/carbs. Tiny bites - chew and eat slowly. Attached is a menu - I hope it helps... Track your calories & protein (60 grms a day) for a week - get in 30 minutes of exercise at least 4 days a week and I bet you if you do that at the end of the week you will see a loss on your scales. You can do this !!! When you need a distraction - come here - post - we are here for you... Hugs - Janet

Laura - I don't know how to help in this but my experience was I had my consultation on 5/31 - this is where the discussion was on if I was a candiate and if the band was a good choice form me - I had tons of pre op test - My doc office called all the doctors that I had to see and had them call me to set up appointment - Once I had my shrink appt and they sent to insurance got called on 6/21 with date (still had testing to do but had a date) at that time we set up pre-op visit an at that visit 7/6 is where they gave me the food for my preop diet (only 1 week for me) I never asked what kind of band he was using - they don't know what size to use until they look inside you. - When surgery was done the doc told my son that I had the new cadillac band (a new ap band came out in 7/07) Do you have approval/date yet?? Once they get approval from insurance is when they will call you.. As to them not calling you back - yes I would be a tad concern about that - are they close enought for you to just show up on their door step and when you see the doc I would voice these concerns to him.. I guess I am a lucky one - I have my doc's cell phone #.. All doc's are diff but I sure would tell him - not the staff about your concerns he may not know whats going on..

I just lost my fricking post  ok here is a shorter verision cuz i need to jump in the shower.. Ellen - your fill will be fine - it most likely will give you just a hint of restriction but you will learn what to expect from feelling restriction cuz most likely right now you don't have much.. Yes the more you move the more you can it - and if you vary your calories (eat light one day - eat a little more the next) you will see the diff on the scale more than if you just stick to a lower calorie food intake. Ok sorry this is shorter - but i need to get going... Nails, food shopping dog treat shopping and house to clean - so I will cbl. Have a great time at your bro's bday party.... Hugs & Love - Janet

Steph isn't it funny when we were in plus sizes our size was always gone and now in regular sizes and our size is always gone still.. When you wanted a 12 all there was was 10's & 6's now you want a 10 8 or 6 and all there are 16 14 12's - I really would love to know whats up with that too.. Ruby - CONGRATULATIONS !!!! You will get your 170 next week - we will keep you accountable... I think the reason I am doing ok - is that I am not looking at the last yr as a diet - I know now that this is the way I will eat for the rest of my life and that I will exercise for the rest of my life - I am loving life and living it for the 1st time in a really long time - I am doing things I havent done in yr s- like going out and dancing (it wasnt my apperance that stopped me but physically I could barely dance one dance at 250 without my legs hurting and sweating like a pig) Well got email from Karri she said to say hi to all of you - her lastest meds zolfot aren't working too well - her mood is she doesn't give a crap about anything but work - I remember when I was on it I got that way too had no real motivation - One good thing is she doesn't crave sweets like she did on her other meds - she sticking at 146 on her weight and is doing ok with that - but she still trying to find something that will work and make her feel good at the same time - So keep good thoughts that she & her doc's will get this worked out soon.. Ok of the shower to wash off the gym sweat - nails - dog treats - food shopping and most likely going out again tonite - Eric Clapton door band at the rock yard - Yes I am going out again - but 2 drink limit  I will cbl - Love & Hugs Janet

Katarina - Our fill amounts are so diff for each of us - plus I think my band is a 14 not sure I just know that I had the new band ap that came out last july and I think he said large.. Again i dont really care I just care that it works  - Soft food moves thru the pouch faster than solids - so you sound like you will do very well once you get solids. LORI CONGRATULATIONS 60 LBS GONE WAY TO GO BE PROUD OF ALL THE WORK YOU HAVE DONE TO LOSE THESE 60 LBS IT'S JUST THE BEGINNING - YOU WILL GET TO GOAL.
  12. No I am the last one - No Not really - but I stay full longer .. I did this poll cuz all the newbie are always saying I want a fill cuz I am hungry - well the band never took away my hunger as I feel that 99% of our hunger is really cravings and not true hunger but as fat chicks we don't truly get that connection - we think that we are physically hungry when really we are craving food - big diff.. I will be physically full from eating - but still want to eat for the taste of it - I am a food addict.. Plain and simple I like to eat.. The other night one bite too many and you know what happened - it came back up - but even then I still wanted to eat - waited an hour and made my little snack pack of popcorn - that is my life saver - I eat one piece at a time and it feeds the hand to mouth thingie.. For me this has never been about diet - but a lifetime lifestyle change - I am at the gym 4 days 2 days weights 2 days cardio. I logged my calories for the 1st yr now I just sorta keep track in my head.. I totally agree with the soft food issue - if I eat soft I am hungry within an hour and my Breakfast & lunches are usually on the softer side.. dinner is usually fish rice and veggie.. Keep up the good work - tweak it so that it works for you - you will find your groove.. Hugs Janet

Ruby Maintenance isn't so bad for me.. I may go up a few (148) then down to 144 - I feel ok - I am eating the same truly - I may add a pt bar or a little more fat - and for the last few weekend I have gone out had had a few drinks - Last Sunday 148 :scared2: so Monday morning got dressed for the gym (extra work out due to the 148) - got on the scale 145 so I didn't go :lovechoc:- then Wed 144 - then Thursday 146 - this morning 146 but am going to the gym cuz it's Saturday and it's my normal work out day. I am no longer logging my food - but I sorta keep track in my head - I am sorta programed.. I am eating the same food (healthy) but may eat a reese pb cup if the mood strikes when I am at the store and not feel guilty about it - I gotta say when I was in the weight loss mode I really didn't do it too often - That why I say avoidance - I still don't keep thing in the house that I would pig out on.. Emotional eating (night time for me - same hours as Candice) - I have always budgeted my calories to deal with that - I eat lighter during the day and then if I want 2 fudgecicles I can eat them without guilt. Yesterday was a light food day for me 1 hard boiled egg - top of a salad (cheese turkey avocado bacon bits tomatos and some lettuce) was full all afternoon - a lean cuisien alfreado with scallops and shrimp - yogurt and that was it.. Heck I went to bed around 9 ish.. I have really made this about a lifestyle change - ya I still want to eat tons of food - I would love some brownies (my total weakness) but I am feeling too good to go back to my drug of choice (food) And this is where the avoidance comes in = just like an alcohlic 1 drink isn't enought and 10 is too many - I am the same way with food - Ya I have to still eat to live - so I know that I have about 1500 cal to play with and I want the most out of those calories - so I don't squander them on junk - I am still a volume eater - I would rather have fish rice veggies for 400 calorie than a piece of cake.. So I gotta say ok - I am lucky that I don't have the medical condition that Karri has - I am aware of my eating but not consumed by it. The icing on the cake is being called tiny by my freinds - that in its self is a enough motivation for me Well off the gym for my 3 miles - I am totally routine Monday Tues Wed and Sat - my exercise days.. Will cbl:tongue: Hugs & Love Janet

Well I gues your friends are going to cancel out my friends votes - who are all super republican's - party all the way kind of pple - they are voting Obama La Biden cuz they don't like Palin .. So I guess they are more sexist than racist - cuz both still are alive and well in this country of ours - it's a shame to say it - but it's that same big red flag you are waving if you are telling me that you wouldn't vote for him cuz of his name and not his politics ...

Does Your Band Stop Your Hunger

After Katrina I am so terrifed of what those hurricanes can do - One of my Lucky #7 girls lives in New Orleans and I was watching the weather channel and it showed that it miss NO and hit you guys.. Hugs - that has to be horrible to live thru - thankfully your damage wasn't worse.. I will take my earthquakes over your hurricane any day.. We have no warning which isn't great - but the odds are more in my favor - you get hurricane annually were as my eq are 1 - in a 100 yrs that really do any damage..

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Mary Yes you will have to experiment we all do - small bites - chew chew and eat slowly and you should be ok.. I don't find that my band takes away my hunger - but I do get full on a small amount of food. In fact I have a poll going on the at the near or at goal thread asking if they found that their bands decreased their hunger - I just started it so only like 5 votes I think that pple think that their bands are going to stop their hunger issues 100% where as for me - it hasn't - it helps me feel full faster and I am eating healthy - but I still want to eat even when I am physically full or when I an not necessarily full but have eaten and am bored. This is the reason for my poll - I want to know from pple who have been banded awhile if it took away their hunger...

I also make my own sf banana puddings with the mini vanilla wafers sf banana pudding - lite cool whip - mixed together then I have these little 1/2 cup container that I put a wafer in with a slice of banana then spoon in the pudding add another wafer and slice of banana and the more pudding - Yummy

I am glad to hear that you would rather shoot yourself than damage your stomach - That's refreshing - I read so many newbies who have written 3 days out ate ck nuggets - hamburger - whatever - but that they ate when they weren't suppose too... Ya liquids is hard - mushies a little better and soft to regular is heaven.. Have you ck'd the food thread they have recipes on there for diff stages too..

Does Your Band Stop Your Hunger

I can go all day without eating - if I am out and about doing things I really don't think about food - never have - even when I was 250.. I never had the light headedness that pple talk about nor have i ever felt weak from missing a meal or 2.. I haven't tried a donut since I have been banded - cake/cookies can eat with no problems - but like Snowbird - I don't keep the stuff around the house and if I want one - I buy just one. My neighborhood store sells individual piece of cake, pie, cheesecake - Oh I will pick the item up turn it over look at the calories - 1 piece of cheesecake 700- choc cake 500 and I just put it back and say oh no that's too many calories - so I stick with my sf pudding & fudgecicles

No I hear you girl - I was sick of the sweet crap too - never though I would have said that - but I got fat on real food not so much sweets - don't get me wrong I do love my sweets too.. But I got sick of it 24/7 Clear Liquids is just that - clear - broth Full liquids cream of whatever soup - pudding, yogurt, fudgecicle, shakes anything you can suck thru a straw and no we aren't suppose to do straws but it's just an example (don't know why on the straw issue - but i do drink from them now but didn't in the begining) Do you like Beans - make a pot of beans (I have done both pinto and navy beans) when done scoop the beans out but them in a blender add a little broth and puree them - then add that back to the bean broth - Cream of bean soup and it's so good and has Protein !!! I also made cream of potato soup too. These are the things that got me thru til I got to the mushies stage... I found homemade stuff tasted so much better - so make whatever kind of soup or beans you like - puree the guts of the soup and add it back to the stock - it's yummy..

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Mary I have heard of one person here who had the 2 point entry - could have been you I heard it from but I did read it some where.. You were lucky to get a fill so fast - most docs 6 to 8 weeks for a fill (mine was 8 weeks). My doc does blind fills too (no fluro) As to what we can eat - each doc is diff - but no mine never said that I couldn't eat chicken or red meat or bread.. Are you just suppose to eat fish & pork to get your Protein?? meats in general (chicken - pork - red) can be tough for some - if it's dry and if you take a big bite and don't chew.. I can do chicken but needs to be moist and tiny bite and chew - Red meat - I can do hamburger & ground turkey (I know it's not red ) no problem - Steaks - I have found that I can do a costco Filet Mignon with no problem - but have tried rib eye and they are a little too fibrous (sp)... I don't do pork often but its ok to as long as I follow the bite & chew rules.. Bread - I use to love sour dough with butter and garlic - or cheese - or a good submarine sandwich - I can eat sour dough but don't due to the carb issues (I do eat carbs/starches but limited) I don't think I could eat a sandwich on a roll - too much bread... I can eat a sandwich made on regular bread but I buy the lite stuff - I don't eat a lot of sandwiches though.. Also, one day you can eat it and the next day for some reason you can't our bands can be very fickled...
