    I'm here to help...

Ok - I have a large a/p band and I have 5 in mine - I don't know if it's 14 10 or 4 But mostly we were talking about how some doc's only give 1/2 cc at a time and they have no restriction - it also has to do with the fat around your stomach - and as you lose weight the band has to be re-adjusted.. I'll ask my doc how much mine holds..

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Gwen - My doc does blind fills - and really when I went for my last in January I was able to drink the water and then they gave me a pt drink - had no problems - but in a day or 2 it settled and omg - awful could barely drink coffee in the morning and I must have my coffee. Took most out - really I only needed a tweak - I sometimes think that fills can be more physicological help than physical - that last fill was like .01 or .02 I can't remember - and even now when I can eat 2 cups of slider foods - I think I need a fill- but but in all honesty I don't - Hugs GF don't have an answer I only take pills on a totally empty stomach never after I have eaten a nd I think only once did I every wake up with the reflux at nite.. Lory - I would offer to get you a ticker - but another member can't do stuff on your profile - I will look for the section that gives you directions so you can have a ticker too - it can take a couple trys before it takes No water as you have learned - it makes it worse - Congrats on your 35 lbs that's GREAT  Teresa - Oh I am so sorry about your DH and for the loss of your Dad :rolleyes2: Prayers & good thoughts to help you get thru this terrible time - We are here for you anytime !!!!! Lizalee - We were all newbies once  Heck Denise is the only one still posting from when I joined in 5/07... Phyl, Peaches & I are Lucky #7's (all banded in 7/07).. A whole ruben - ya girl you need a fill - that's for sure... As you know even with good restriction your band doesn't make your food choices - Becky- you are like me - you need to feel full - eat hard protiens first and it should help til yo get your next fill Lory - do you have any kids who have myspace profiles they can help after I finish this post - I will get the link and come back and post it for you - just keep trying - till you get it - it's sorta like the band - you just gotta keep at those new good eating habit for them to work

    I'm here to help...

I'm here Becky - you and I must have been posting at the same time... 5 oz is a lot - but it's better that 2 cups of ice cream and 10 Cookies - you don't have good restriction yet and when you do - you won't be able to eat 5 oz of steak - tatoes and veggies... Yes and as you will see by my post above yours - I agree - you need to eat more foods that have more substance to them - you eat alot of slider foods and that's why I think you are hungry so much.. Breakfast is about my only meal that can be consider slider - yogurt usually - weekend eggs (but some pple get stuck on them) - lunch is alway protein and veggie and now a little starch - dinner the same protein 1st - I ALWAYS EAT MY FISH/MEAT 1st - then veggies and if any room left my rice.. Well, it's 7:09 - gotta go cook - feed the dogs and change out of these sweaty workout clothes... I will ck back in a few once I get dinner in the oven...

Ruby OMG GIRL YOU HAVE ME :lol:LAUGHING MY ASS :lol:OFF ON THE FISH BTW I had ground beef last night for dinner and lunch today - but yep tonight is Ya I'm with you - you gotta find what works for you... I talked about that to a patient coordinator (sp) at the lapband council I went to... I really really can't stress that enough - cuz we all are diff - we have diff taste and needs - it's like me -I budget my calories to feed my night time hunger - I am not trying to win that battle - cuz I would fail - so I found my way around the problem it works for me.. I am with you on the sag and bag issue too - it irks me to no end when someone ask "will I have saggy skin if I lose 100 lbs" I want to say - "Oh what you think that skin looks better with all that fat" You don't want to lose the weight cuz you are going to have saggy skin - EXCUSE !! I am always saying that's why God made plastic surgeons !!! I go in Dec for my consultation - I will have my eye and arms done - for sure and will see about the rest - it will depend on the $$$ - but I would just as soon get it all done at once and be done with it.. StepH GLAD TO HAVE YOU BACK -WE HAVE MISS YOU - YOU HAVE BEEN GONE FOREVER..

    I'm here to help...

Becky - See you ate hard Protein you were full... That's the biggest secert to control your hunger... I am glad you had a good day... Mia - OMG I think we are related you sound and think alot like me - In fact we could be related my GM was from England - Durrant - Sidney - Woolletts are my ansector from England  I got banded cuz I wanted the improve the quality of my life and hopefully extend the years I have left too.. The looks and size 6's & 4's are icing on the cake. I just feel so much better.. Before I was a total slug bug/couch potato - today is my cardio day - i really was trying to talk myself out of going - for the last couple of weeks I have only gotten 3 days of exercise in each week instead of my 4 (my weight has been stable - infact went down to 142) so figured ah you don't need to go.. Nope that's the kind of thinking that got me fat - so I went walked 4. mph on flat surface for 2 miles - walked 1 mile on incline from 8 to 14 speed 2.8 to 2.0 - total of 3 miles 58 minutes... I feel so proud of myself for the changes I have made I'm thinking with a normal woman's brain and not making excuses with that old fat girl brain any more:lol:

Ruby - I understand if you don't want to reduce your exercise then you get to eat a little more... No not donuts, cookies - candies - but real food.. Healthy stuff ... The whole thing about getting to goal - there was a big fight once on this - and something someone said really hit home for me. This isn't the exact but something close - the conversation was going like this. Person #1 Said - I weight 240 - my goal is 160 - my bmi will be 26 - but if I get to 140 my bmi would be normal - Person #2 Said - Yes 160 would be a great improvement over 240 but why wouldn't you do your best to get to what is considered a healthy weight of 140 - why wouldn't you strive to do your very best with the help of your tool - Why are you settling for less - You don't think you deserve it or what.. It really boils down to what you want - are you going to be happy at 170 or are you really going to be dissappointed in yourself - for not giving it your all and getting to goal The settling for less is what got me - as fat chicks we are always settling for less - that's been our life story Ya when I look back on my progress pictures - I thought I looked damn good in my 12/15 Inspired Red tshirt pic - but you compare that picture to todays - No I was still fat in that 12/15 pic - no not as fat as in my before but I was still an over weight person... I wanted to be normal ... Yes I was afraid - to put it in writing - I left my goal at 150 cuz at 190 I was still afaird I wouldn't get there.. At 150 everyone said I had lost enough that I was fine - but to me I wasn't I was still over weight and why would I settle for less - why don't I deserve to have a normal weight.. I wanted that 145 more than anything - so I just kept plugging along - doing what I did for the prior 11 months and it came - and that is the biggest thing I have ever done.. That is what I am the proudest of -for not settling for less - for being the best that I can be... Why settle for less - why don't you deserve to be the very best you can be - the healthiest you can be.. You didn't get banded to do it half way - why not go all the way.. You can do it - look what you have done already that's the proof that you can do it.. I don't know if I really got my meaning across but gotta say you always understand what I am trying to say when I can't find the words.. Plus I Had and interuption - got a call from another patient of Dr Bobby who he asked me to talk to about the band - she wanted to talk with someone who has lost 100 lbs - well we are meeting for lunch on Friday... Now it's 8 - I haven't cooked yet and dancing with the stars is going to start... So I hope you understand what I am trying to say Hugs - you can do this and don't settle - do the very best you can do .. Then end result will make you so very happy - it's that acheivment that feels so good and make you so proud - it's better than food - it really is.. CBL Love & hugs - Janet

    I'm here to help...

Ellen you are doing !!! It takes a while to get the hang of this and proper restriction really does help. I am very fortunate that I got to my sweet spot on my 2nd fill. So I had that going for me.. But that being said I did go thru Thanksgiving and Xmas - and the band doesn't stop Cookies or candy - I said no - I am not starting and I didn't - I avoided all the junk in the office - How you might ask - well my trade off was if I said no to all the office junk then I could say yes when it came time to make Xmas cookies with Granddaughters.. That was my trade off - I also exercised more another trade off.. It's all about the trade offs - If I have this treat - I have to exercise more or eat a smaller meal the next time I eat - Well that little bit of candy or cookie wasn't and still isn't worth the extra exercise or less food at my next meal.. I look at a piece of cheese cake 700 it will be gone in 5 bites and I will still be hungry - well for 700 calories I can have 4 oz of fish and some veggie and rice and still lose weight.. I still read lables - look at the food you want to eat and subtract those calories from your budget - I rather have real food that will keep me full longer than the junk - Well 98% of the time For me I find that my head hunger manifest it's self into me truely thinking I am still hungry... And this in its self is a revelation - I am stuffed after dinner - but I still want to eat - I feel hungry - but my tummy is full - it makes no sense - but once you get good restriction you will see what I am talking about.. Yep it's those little things that we snag that will get us stuck - it's that one more bite

Good Morning Gang Happy Monday :tt2: Not much to report since yesterday except - my pool's pump motor has had it  $500 :girl_hug: to replace/fix . All these additional expenses that I have had lately DG car etc - has totally screwed up my shopping Well - such is the way of life - haven't looked at my 401k - broker told me not to for a while :rolleyes2: Well I guess I will be working for a while . Candice - hope things are going a little better for you Denise - what's up girl you haven't been around Ruby - how's the protein going  I am on my 1st water bottle Kari - I don't know why the pic's aren't bigger when you click on them sorry - I don't know how to fix that - but girl you are looking great Karri, How are you the morning after your run Linda, How did things go at the doctors you haven't ck'd in Phyl, Hope you are enjoying the road trip and looking at the beatiful ssites - it's 66 here this morning :girl_hug: Steph - Girl when are you getting back we miss you.. Donna - We haven't heard from you since before Ike - hope all is ok.. CBL
  13. The hospital billed my insurance like $64k for my surgery - the kicker is that insurance actually only paid $4000 - they write off the rest - makes no sense - but I guess that's the way it goes.. I'm not a big risk taker either so I understand ... My commercial has been delayed until 10/1 - the others who are in it couldn't make it last week

my first experience eating out since being banded

I never thought of it that way - great example.. I haven't gone to a buffet - since you can't have doggie bags with them and it's to much $$$ for what little I can eat.. I still go out but always have a doggie bag now a days ...
  15. I was lucky my insurance covered it Also it is not considered experimental any longer - I think for a few yrs now - like 2001.. So that excuse is BS... If that was true other insurance companies would not be paying for it... Insurance companies don't pay for experiemental procedures. You should post this in the Insurance section - you might get more response.. But from what little I know about this - self payers to get a diff price than insurance - you negotiate with your doc and hospitals. Financing is usually done with outside financing - I did look at the brochure at my doc's office - there are financing companies who just do medical financing - plastric surgery for one.. Again I don't know alot about this subject - just from what little I have read here - but I do know that Lapband is not experimental... Post in the Insurance thread and see where that get you... Good Luck !!!! Also there is always Mexico it's alot less than USA - I know alot of pple banded there and have had excellent care...

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

NM BRENDA - YOU ARE TOO TIGHT !!!! YOU CAN DAMAGE YOURSELF BEING TOO TIGHT - THAT REFULX CAN BURN YOUR STOMACH - GO GET A LITTLE TAKEN OUT... I am no longer on any med's but when I was I always took them on an empty stomach in the morning so that they would go down and not sit in my pouch. You should not be pbing on WATER :girl_hug: Becky & Charlene - YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE TOO TIGHT... I know that you both have had to struggle to get restriction - but being to tight can cause problems - slow and easy - good choices - it will come..

For those of you that have reached goal...

It's cuz I am the JEDI MASTER at figuring out how to fool the head hunger issues - either fooling them by distraction - or feeding them with good but low calorie things...:girl_hug:

For those of you that have reached goal...

RestlessMonkey I have no problems with tonic Water - beer tiny sips and it gets hot before I can finish and I hate hot beer - today I had a diet soda (something I do about every 3 months) I pour it in a glass and let it get a little flat and take tiny sips... If I am super hungry (head) and want to feel full - will have a soda - the carbonation does the trick...
