    Well said Wasa -:teeth_smile: I don't care which WLS you have - it's really all about what's in our heads more than the surgery surgery is only a tool and not the miracle fix that everyone thinks or hopes that it will be- the surgery isn't going to change your brain only you can do that - it's all about eating healthy - this is a lifestyle change not a diet This is why I have said that 75% of the work was up to me and my WSL did the other 25% Eating healthy + Exercise + WLS = Success.. I do eat some white carbs but they are very very limited ...

    Lori Congralutations on the pants and not buying them too - I bought so much as I was losing thinking that I wasnt going to get smaller - but alas I did - as much as you can keep the shopping down - wait til you get to your goal weight and then go CRAZY :0) I ate more than you durning my weight loss phase - but agree I don't exersice for food - I will exercise more if I have had a heavy eating day though.. Mary Welcome glad to have you - the more minds we have together helps us figure this out - we can learn from each other - we are all diff but really the same when it comes to our issues with food.. Look forward to having you in our group - Hugs Janet Mia - I agree with the slipper slope - we just have to take the time and find out what works for us - I agree 1200 max with the food and zig zag and increase your exercise intensity every couple of weeks... Tuesdays are the only days that your weight counts... I have been very fanatical on getting on everyday lately but - Thursday is the only day that really counts - so if I am down to 142 on Monday - but back up to 145 on Thrusday - Its the 145 that counts... We are all here for each other - you guys all keep me honest too.. I thank you all for that - you help me just as much as I help you... Well, I am a tad peckish (for you Mia :wink_smile:) so I think I am going to go fine something to eat... CBL:tongue:

    Ruby I want to talk about this net thingie - Me personallly I don't like it - I think it gives you room to eat more (cuz you really can't be 100% sure on how many calories you are really burning up)- and in the end when you look at net calories I would be feeling deprived... If I had done than my net calories would have been 500-700 a day on the days that I exercised and I don't know how many calories I burn doing the weight - the treadmill says 300 to 350 depending on my intensity and on it I can input my weight & age so I would say it's a pretty good estimate - If I had thought that way I would have eaten more - (excuse for the ice cream) I know it stamtics - but think of if this way - eat between 800 - 1200 calories max a day and vary them from day to day - then your exercise is a total calorie burn and not compensation for your eating... You food is your fuel and the exercise is what is going to get the weight off.. And those models are just that - they are giving you estimates - heck I went to one site that says for me to maintain my weight I should eat 2400 calories a day - heck - I would gain weight it I ate that much food... As it stands now I eat about 1400 to 1600 a day. Exercise 3-4 times a week - and I am 142.5 this morning Allow yourself a treat once a week - not every night - once you get to goal you can fiddle with the treats - but that's where we have to be careful too many treats got us where we were.. "Our emotions get the better of us and we tend to forsake our long-term goals in favor of short-term desires" Candice hugs - I know how hard it is.. You are not a bad daughter - your Mom is just playing you - My Aunt is the same way - but she does take her pain meds but is always having tummy problems cuz she is always constipated - I just tell her to take a laxitative every day to prevent that - heck at 92 who cares if you get addicted to them - as long as it works and your tummy doesnt hurt... Phyl - Sorry - that neither of the games when in your favor... Hot in the bay area - - I know yesterday it was 73 in SF as my DS & family went to alcatraz.... It's hot here today 107 and it 6:14 pm Steph - I don't know what happend to your quote - i like doing them cuz it's easier to refer back to them as my response...     Becky - Congrats on your inches - That's a GREAT NSV to be proud of!!!! You can click on my ticker and it will show the graft and weight loss history it's easier to read - cllick on the show all.. Ya I get you on looking at yourself at home and thinking oh I look pretty good then going somewhere else and seeing yourself and say Omg I'm look awful - it's just the surrondings - maybe you were thinking about a size that you can't get yet - or looking at something that wouldn't fit yet - and that's the reason. Heck I went to the beauty shop this morning - and my makeup looked awful - at home it looked good but at the shop I saw more wrinkles sags and bags - Diff lighting I guess - who know's - but it depressed me !!! Mia NEVER ARE YOUR ANNOYING !!!! DON'T EVER THINK THAT !!!! Ok here's the thing about exercise (these numbers aren't exact this is just an example) - if you weight 250 lbs and walk 2 miles speed 3.0 to 3.5 you will burn 300 calories - but at a weight of 190 doing the exact same thing you will only burn 275 - then at 180 you burn 250 - so on and so forth - as you lose weight you gotta increase your speed and intesnity to burn the same amount of calories as you did in the beginning... In the beginning I walked on the tread mile for like 2 miles - no incline speed 2.7 - 3.5 and I burned 300 calories - but as I lost weight I increased my speed and had to walk longer to burn that 300 calories . Now if I walked at that speed 3.5 for 3 miles I bet I would only burn about 240 calories. So now I have increased my speed to 4.0 for flat and do inclines from 4 to 15 at diff intervals and burn now anywhere from 300 to 350 per work out.. I am working differently no more intensity and for a longer time - but the upside of that is I feel good after my work out not beat like I did in the beginning - I enjoy goint to the gym - putting my Ipod on - and grooving to my tunes - you know 70 & 80 disco stuff On the net issue - i never did that - I just ate 800 - 1200 calories and exercised I didn't subract the calories burned from my daily calorie budget I guess that's why I lost like I did. I ate 800 to 1200 calories plus the exercise - so doing it your way I had 500 to 700 calories a day I don't like that way of thinking - I would have felt very deprived and though I could eat more - NO NO NO don't do that net thing IMHO - eat 850 to 1200 PLUS your exercise I guess my exercise is what boosted my weight loss and why I didn't hit a platues - as those calories burned were a defecit and not a counter to the things that I ate.. Ok just say it takes 2000 calories just for you to breath and maintain your current weight - to lose a pound a week you have to cut that number by 500 calories a day - so that gives you 1500 to eat - but if you want to lose it a little faster cut another 300 calories from your food and exercise 5 days a week buring 280 each session 3x7=2100 calories + 280x5=1400 calories = 3500 calories = pound 2 lbs a week... I just ck'd one of those sites and it says that I should eat 2400 calories a day to maintain my weight - That's BS imho - I would gain at that many calories - as it is I am eating 1400 to 1600 a day and exercising 4 times a week (well most weeks sometimes just 3 :wink2:) As for breakfast - I too am at work early 7:15 - I don't eat at home I eat at work - I don't eat eggs during the week usually- Sometime I will take hard boiled eggs or egg salad (made with just a little lite mayo) - I will have a sandwich made on lite bread (90 calories 2 slices) with shaved ham 5 slices 50 calories - 2% cheese 50 Calores - mustard 190 calories - that one reason I eat yogurt & fruit or 1/4 cup granola 100 to 150 c) and weight control oatmeal (160 c) cuz those things are easy to eat at my desk.. I used eggbeaters at home on the weekend 1/2 cup 60 calories and add a little cheese bell peppers & Onions - yummy - I have made it at home before I left for work and taken it with me to eat at work. I will also have a fiberone bar 150 cal for breakfast some days - those are the days that I am straving by lunch Stay focus on just today - that's all you can do and you are doing very well on focusing on eating healthy too - that's what you are suppose to be doing I just think you gotta bring your calories down a little - not a lot but just a little and not every days - every other day or every 2 days.. Just play with it until you find what works for you !!! Joann - I am going to nominate you for the Band Poster Woman award - you got it 100% - Find out what works for you within the guidlnes that you will be able to adapt to a total lifestyle change... ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey Gang - Well I know I am late today - but got up around 6:30 had my coffee - gym by 7:30 - home by 8:30 in the shower by 9 had hair appointment at 10 (covering the gray ;0)- then went grocery shopping - OMW that took 2 hrs.. It takes alot of time picking up boxes reading calories - wanting junk looking at the calories and saying oh no and then putting it back.. Trying to figure out what you are going to eat for the week - then bagging your own groceries (Winco is my new store right around the corner from my house - it's like a food 4 less or super saver - you gotta bag your own stuff) Pluse it's like my 3rd time there so don't know were everything is but almost.. Came home cleaned out the freeze - had stuff in there that was over 8 months old - then cleaned out the pantry - had crap in there from when I had surgery 14 months ago... Some of the stuff expired late 07 and early 08 I gotta great NSV to report - I think I might have some mice in my attic (crawl space really we don't have true attic's here in the desert - just enough room to stand up in the center of the house but that's it) Well I got some sticky traps at the store and GS just had showered and didn't want to go up there so I said what the heck I can do it - so I got the ladder - which really isn't tall enought - but i grapped the rafters and walked up the wall - got my feet up in the space and then pulled myself up there :eek: Set the traps - then wondered how I was going to get down - cuz like i said the ladder is really too short - so I let myself down - stepping on top of the door and then to the ladder. This is not something I would have even attempted a year ago :tt2: Ok - started this and hour ago - I need to drink and kick it in front of the tv for a while and figure out what I am going to make for dinner - I put all the meat in the freeze :eek: So I will ck back in a bit...     Mia No offense taken - Thanks it's a complement in my book and I do feel 10 yrs younger...:tongue: For me I did this for my health - the look is icing on the cake.:tongue: I really don't think it was super strict... I truly didn't and still don't find it that hard - I feed my hunger and truly don't feel deprived.. I zig zag as some days I was/am more hunger than others.. I have good restriction too. But there are times I am hungry - especially during the day at work.. But i just drink my Water - or maybe have a v8 (veg juice). By the time lunch comes - I am ready for it - after work I have gym so I am not hungry til around 7 ish - Normal/skinny pple get hungry too when it's time for a meal. You aren't that heavy 212 - so yes I think 1400 is too much to lose 2 lbs a week - most healthy weight loss programs are 1000 to 1200 If you just cut your Snacks to 100 max that would save you 300 calories that's 2100 calories a week - to lose a pound a week you have to reduce your calorie intake by 3500 calories - by either food or increasing your exercise.. How tall are you?? I know you say you exercise and that you burn 250 calories - what do you do and how do you know you burn 250 calories. Also your carbs are up there a little - Increase your tuna decrease your crackers - eggs for Breakfast instead of Cereal Eat 250 Cal for breakfast - Lunch - dinner = 750 3 snacks at 100 = 1050 total Then 100 for BF - 200 Lunch - 300 Dinner = 600 c + 500 snacks = 1000 zig zag like that - and once you tell me what you exercise is I can give some more advice along with how tall you are and do you work or stay at home - what kind of job Also you have to change the way you think about food - this isn't a diet but your new healthy eating style and commit to exercise.. I hate the saying that nothing taste as good as thin feels - cuz damn it food does taste good - for me nothing can compare to how I feel now. I have so much more energy - i now can see my toe - I can walk up a flight of stairs - and you know what - even now when I have an occasional treat - it really doesn't do that much for me - now I think - was that 500 calories really worth it - that's 1 1/2 at the gym (I walk 3 mile vary speed and inclines and will burn 300 -350 cal in the 52 minutes that it takes to walk those 3 miles) I don't know how to explain it - but food doesn't control me any longer I control it - and eating it wasn't worth destroying my body and mind -

You are getting calories - but they are mostly all liquid... Not good.. I gotta say I worked hard and really didn't vary too much from eating healthy... I was very lucky never hit a plateau .. I really contribute that to the exercise - In March I got a trainer at the gym and started working with weights... Eat foods that have more substance you will feel full longer - At dinner if i was extra hungry I ate extra veggies Also try this take a diet soda - pour in a glass and let get a little flat - then take a tiny sip - the carbonation will make you full. On the weekends - I was out and about so I didn't think about food - it seemed like every month I was buying new clothes in a smaller size. Attaching menu - and picts. JoannMarie - You are just going to do so well - you have this thing down pat and you aren't even banded yet... Prayer - fingers crossed for your review - let us know ok - Hugs Jill 8.67 lbs a month - you are doing great girl - yes I know you wish it was faster but look thats 2 lbs a week - more energy - and just think where you will bee next yr on your vacation - what a great incentive to keep moving forward..     Mia - JoannMaire - gave you the exact advice that I would have " Relax take a breath :drool: Yep I only weigh 1x week on Thursday's and if the scale is calling me inbetween - I will get on but that number doesn't count until my actual weigh in day" This is how much my weight flucates in a week 142 - 143.5 - 144 - 142 - 145 - and no if I am not losing then no candy bars - If I am losing then I say ok 1 and only 1 candy bar will be fine... But truthfully - I didn't eat too many treats while in my weight loss phase - the only time I did was if I went to a party or celebration (Oct 1 piece of cake - Nov (1 piece of cake) - Dec(only sweet where when I made xmas Cookies w/GD) - Jan (my bday but was too tight to eat) 2 cup cakes - March (GS Bday 2 cup cakes - April (1/2 piece of cake) Also - there were weeks that I lost ony 1/2 lbs but all those half pounds added up - so what I do is take the average 100 /12 = 10 lbs a month but some months I lost 6 - 8 - 12 - or 15 - but it all averages out to 10 a month... As long as you aren't gaining - and even if it's a small loss it's still a loss. You are right - just keep doing what you are doing - move a little more eat healthy and you will win the battle of the buldge JoannMarie - I princess you !!!!     Congratulation Stephanie !!!! What a Great Honor!!! I bet you are just throwing that chest out - putting the shoulders back and strutting around the house - You go girl !! Well was really busy yesterday and then a gf came over (she had bypass 2 weeks ago has lost like 30 lbs) well she just got the rest of my fat clothes... Nothing above a 6 is in my closet now :thumbup: She didn't leave until 8 ish (and I hadn't cooked yet) then DS called as I was trying to watch survior - and he talked and talked and talked! So I just never got on the computer last night... Ruby - More food - less exercise your body is telling you - "you aren't fueling me propertly so I won't work for you" I know that's a strange concept - but it works:wink: Ok back to work - cbl

Karri - Ok just to get caught up Steph - That sounds just awful - I know sinus with cause your teeth to hurt but loose and burised:eek: Denise I don't know how you do it - Glad you are cking in - Miss hearing from you Ruby I understand the falling back into to old habits - it sorta worries me since I have been having a little sherbert most nights lately.. But I am getting on the scale daily (Thursday's are still the only day that counts) and it's been kind to me (142-145) - I don't eat reg ice cream so I don't know the calories - but I know it has the fat where sherbert doesn't - I wish someone would make a sf sherbert with splenda - then the calories would really be down.. IMHO I think your net calories need to be varied between 800 to 1200 to get your body into the weight loss phase.. You are doing so much better on the protein - heck you were only 1 bottle away from getting it all in :smile: I most likely got only 2 in yesterday. Well back to work - CBL :wub:

Becky Yes this site is the best - It's wonderful to be able to talk about our struggles and victories with each other - No one understands a fat chick like another fat chick. We get each other... Like I have said before we are all diff but we are really more alike than we think.. Lori - Yep I want to be the very best that I can be - I don't want to settle anymore - we have done that for much of our lives - we thought it was too hard to achieve our goals that they were out of our reach. But with the help of the band they no longer are. We aren't lazy, we aren't disciplined - We are strong women - We now have the tool that we depressively needed in order to be the best that we can be... If I could I would love to be a bariatric coordinator - This is my passion now. But alas - I gotta make $$ and I have no medical training.. So I will do my commercial (10/1) - Talk to my Doc's patients and spout my strong opinion here. Again - Congrats on your FANTASTIC accomplishments and being asked to assist others in getting their weight off - That's the very best - and you have every reason to be proud !!! PJ Thanks for confirming what I thought Charlene You do have reasons for a couple excuses You have been through a very difficult time in your own life and your communities too.. But look how you have changed in your thinking :crying: - No more excuses gotta get back on track - Love those kind of changes - You are on the right road even if you have had a few road blocks.

    Hey Becky - I don't know about the 4 cc in the band - but since I don't know - I can't dispute it... - But what I do know is that pple who have 4cm band can have more than 4 cc of fill - I read that all the time.. Your restriction sounds pretty good - you are eat about 1 1/2 cup per meal - not bad - I have alway been able to eat minimum 1 cup per meal and sometimes more - and I lost 100 lbs in 1 yr on that amount - The combination of healthy eating - exercise and portion control = Sucess

Lori HOW FANTASTIC - MY JEDI WARRIOR You are doing so great 50% of your excess weight in 3 months.. Being asked to speak at his seminars you will be a great example on how to work your band... Lory - I agree with your doctor - I remember asking the older timer in the beginning why everyone was so concerned on how much was in their bands - heck I only cared that it work - The only reason I know is that when I got my last fill he told me he put in 1 cc - but then had to take .08 out - I think I have 5 even - but not sure - don't care to tell the truth...     Hey Chim - What's Up Girl !!!! Glad you dropped by - We were talking the other day how most of the old gang just doesn't post anymore...     I'm here to help...

    We are like 8 hrs diff right (2 or 3 am - it's 7 pm here in California) - so ya it's late in the UK - get your beauty sleep.. I am fine today, my dinner yesterday was lite - I had fish, corn on the cob and wild rice - ate the fish - then the corn (too fast) guess what happend - so I didn't finish it or my rice - Had a little orange sherbert 110 c 1/2 cup and called it a nite.. Today BF Fiberone bar and almonds - Lunch - 1 pot wonder like your dinner made with mince (i like that term ) a protein bar this afternoon (wanted something sweet) gym (1 hr weights) and now home - Dinner scallops & shrimp - don't know how I am going to fix it yet.. Congrats on your 9 lbs - that's great :smile: I know that you are feeling really good about yourself and your accomplishments.. See what you can do once you put your mind to it. My Trainer tonite is telling me to go to 135 - I don't know - I have sorta been aiming for 140 (142 presntly) I just don't know - Heck if I had a little lipo and plastic surgery - I would most likely be 135.. So right now I am working on getting to 140 and to maintain between 140 - 145 - heck I can't afford to buy anymore clothes :confused:

Is the sinus thing better - the teeth and bruise is from the fall right?? OMG you are lucky you didn't hurt yourself worse - Hug :confused: Karri 4 hrs sleep - girl mommy talking here - that's not enough - I think you are in an up manic phase - which is better than the alternative but...     Ruby - Great minds :thumbup: think alike... I guess I thought you were taller - don't ask why... Yep you do have to make allowances for those E :smile2: You are doing alot better on your protein :smile: I have been having sherbert for a while now at night 110 calories 1/2 c and I think pretty much fat free - it is a truly slider cuz I ate it after my :drool: with the corn :girl_hug:

    Good Morning Gang !!!! It's Wed - Hump day :drool: Well, last night went good - bp'd on my corn :sneaky:- just had my fish and then my corn on the cob - well it didn't like being in my tummy I don't think I chewed well enough :rolleyes2: - So my band retaliated :wink: never got to my wild rice Yesterdays Food Fiberone Bar 1 pot wonder (hamburger red potato corn tomato saucebell pepper onion garlic) 1 1/2 c Almonds 4 oz fish few bites corn 1/2 c rainbow sherbert Lite Crangrape juice... Burned 350 calories on the treadmill yesterday... Yes I know not enough food - but again - it's all about varying - somedays lite - somedays a little more... oh Ruby - I was thinking last night - heck your 170 is most likely 160 without the added weight of your E's :lol: (kidding with love but thought of that last night and laughed to myself :tt2:)- You need to post a pic we haven't seen one of you in a while :w00t: - I forget how tall are you - aren't you on the tallish side ...
