    I'm here to help...

Ellen - Hugs gosh taking care of your parents is so hard.. Good on keeping that food journal - I HIGHLY suggest it - I did it for the my first year. I am suppose to be to work by 7:30 - and I don't like to hop out of bed and straight into the shower - my xdh got me use to having coffee first - so now I get up (a little earlier than usual use to be 5 til this time change) have my coffee and feed the animal (you all know I have a new kitten too... I don't remember if I told you all - but GS came home with is like the day after my bro's passing and I just let it slide - he knows how to work me) and then get in the shower.. I love the time change cuz I am in bed by 9 - 9:30 every night so by 4:30 I have had my sleep.. I use to sleep but no more - heck the doggie wake me up to go potty too - they don't know what a clock is... Congratulations !!!! I bet that would be fun...
  2. Just wanted to share cuz I am so JAZZED today - it's was my weigh in day and the scale said "150" - that's 100 lbs gone in less than a year...

Good Morning Ladies !!!!! New President and New Look for LBT  How is everyone today? I am doing good - I like this time change I am to bed early (9:30) and up early (4:30) the only thing is when I leave the gym it's dark - that part I really don't like too much - but I do like that my evenings seem longer - heck I was home from the gym by 5:15 and cuz it was dark I thought it was like 7 - That gave me 2 hours which I love... Well off to work - I will cbl:wink:

Yep Becky & Lori - I truely believe in not dieting... We have life to live and it's not about celery & carrots as we were always told before.. It's all about moderation.. Today - I had a banana for bf - 3/4 cup lasagna for lunch and for dinner a one pot wonder (hamburger/onion/bell pepper/rice/corn/tomato sauce) - I haven't eaten yet but in just a few - went to the gym did my 3 miles - this is my 1st week since my bro's death that I have really gotten back into my schedule and it feels good. Well - I am off to watch the elections - I think history is going to be made tonite !!!! But til the last vote is counted who know - remember Gore vs Bush... We can't count our chickens just yet .... TTYL - Hugs Janet...

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Flowers I am sorry that you are so frustrated.. Here's my 2 cents.... Your band is only a tool - and that tool isn't going to work without being properly maintained... You say you didn't go to get your fill last Saturday cuz you didn't want to be too tight - cuz you wanted to eat. Again your band is only a tool - it doesn't control what you eat - your brain does that. I have good restriction - I can eat most foods as long as I eat slowly and chew. Even with good restriction I can still consume mashed potatoes - candy, cake, ice cream - slider foods - and if I chose to eat those foods I would not have lost weight and if I chose to eat those foods often even now - I would gain weight.. This isn't about dieting it's about making a lifetime lifestyle change in your eating. We can't continue eating unhealthy and expect to lose weight. You can't spend the rest of your life on a diet - it isn't going to work. You are doing good in exerciseing and losing weight without much restriction but - I gotta tell you - you MUST convey your concerns to your doctor or like someone said find a new doctor. You don't need to concern yourself with the size of your band and the # of cc's in it - just worry about if it works - I could have 2 cc in a 14 and be loose as a goose - but you could have 2cc in the 14 and be tight. The amount of fill is diff for everyone. So please don't give up - you can do this !!!!

But it's way to early to tell- I am sick of 2 yrs of politics - but can't wait to see the outcome - I voted 3 weeks ago by mail... I have a friend who has tickets to the ignaugration... She is hoping her guy wins ... tomorrow we are going to have one set of pple pissed off - but you know what - by this time next year - all this will be old hat and we all will be complaining about something new.

Good Morning Ladies... Steph - Hugs - for me there is nothing worse than not being able to eat.. I have to eat... Can't wait for when you can get some more taken out... Yep if you can't eat - drink those drinks - you need your energy.. Candice Calories weren't too too bad... If today you are able to stay on the lower in that 1300 may just work in your favor..

Apples - Last Halloween I didn't have too much of a problem resisting the candy - this yr I really think it's the stress of losing my brother and my own pity party with candy... I know better - but now that I did it I really do know better cuz it sure in the heck didn't help - in fact all that sugar made me kinda sick.. Yep your doc sounds a little strick but he just wants the best for you so you can't discount that... I took my doc's guidelines and made them work for me... I am a bit of a rebel sometimes  It's great that you can sit and talk to him - my doc's that way too - which I think is a rareity now a days... Well I need to get to work... Will CBL

Thanks Cathy.. Yep I am real - as to eating anything - I guess I should clarify it a bit - I eat low calorie meaning low fat and low sugar.. During the weight loss phase of my journey - I ate 800 - 1200 cal max a day and exercised (which I still do and my calories now are about 1500)- I really did stay away from things like lasagana - high carb foods - I do have carbs just limited - but my focus was on eating healthy period not dieting making this a lifestyle change... Also eating anything to me is that my restriction is such that I can eat almost anything without a problem as long as I chew eat slowly etc.. For some of us the weight will come off faster than others - but this isn't a race - remember the turtle won the race not the hare :0).... I was very very committed and did not sway too very much from my healthy eating - Yes I ate out about once a week or maybe every 2 weeks but 98% of the time I eat healthy.. Still do - well except for the candy over load the other night ;o) For me my band has was the tool that I needed to be able to practice all the healthy eating knowledge that I had... Most of us are diet experts - but we could never keep up with whatever plan we have done cuz we all thought of it as a diet and would get to goal or give up and go back to eating normal -(well we all know where normal eating got us) - Well now I finally know this isn't a diet and with the help of my band I can live a healthy lifestyle...

Steph - You are so right - I worked my ass off to get to goal and it's the very very best feeling in the world... So yes make up your fricking mind - kick butt and you will get there.. I was going to dress up - but with the loss of my bro- I just wasn't in the mood to be festive... Ya that mean old Janet...

Charlene - Thanks - the candy is out of sight so I am ok.. BF yogurt/granola - L - 1/4 of a taco salad and some chips and salsa - dinner will be leftovers from last night fish rice spinach - and I have my sherbert and popcorn and did 1 hrs weights - and the scales and staying 138 to 140 so I am fine - I was just pissed that I gave into to that urge and then really didn't enjoy it all that much.. In fact in the pass all that candy would have been gone and I would have enjoyed it - I didn't really enjoy it all that much... Becky IMHO I think you have restriction... and Yep HEAD HUNGER you wanted to eat more just cuz it tasted so good... The walking will help compensate for the gravy I stay away from gravy and fired foods - I use I can't beleive it's butter spray on my veggies & rice or tatoes... I love white gravy - but I just don't do it anylonger...

Hi Lcwils01 - and Welcome Yes I had a pre-op but only for 1 week and 2 days of that were Clear liquids as I had my colonoscopy 7/13 and then surgery 7/17. My pre-op consisted of - Optifast oatmeal for Breakfast - optifast great Protein bars for Snacks 2 - lunch a shake and dinner salmon and salad or veggies. My doc provided the food (well except for the fish & salads) After surgery 10 days full liquids (incl creamed Soups sf pudding sf yogurt sf fudgecicles) 10 days mushies - 10 days soft and then on to regular food.. It was a little tough (pre-op as my son's bd was 7/15) but I made it thru.. I was lucky - it took me only 6 weeks to get surgery - I didn't have to do the 6 month diet - But I had tons of test - sleep, breathing, heart - had to do a nuclear stress test - mamo - pap - blood 14 vials - shrink - nutristionst.. Hugs Janet

Love the time change - was in bed at 8 asleep by 9 - and up at 4:30... I was a bad girl Sat night ate too much candy - but if you consider 1 time in 15 months that's not bad - it's out of my sight now - so out of mind... Yes Candice you should vacation in PS instead of Florida - That sounds like a great idea... Steph - you do need some more taken out..... Health 1st.... Ok VOTE TOMORROW !!! Good Morning Ladies I haven't been on the computer all weekend - Friday Trick or treaters - then Sat bf with gf - then another gf called stopped by and we had shrimp creole and watched a movie - Yesterday went and started cleaning my bro's house.. Love the time change in bed early - up early and even getting GS up was no problem... I gotta make a confession here - to provide to you your mentor is human fot the 1st time in 15 months I sorta pigged out on candy Saturday nite - no way like I use to but had about 5 fun size bars and a few reese mini pb cups - told GS I was going to throw the crap away - but he took it and hid it from me.. You know what - It made me sick - sugar over load - but all in all 1 time in 15 months of saying "screw it - I want to feed my emotions" isn't too bad Well just cking in - cbl

Kimmy who are you speaking to ?? 1 to 2 lbs a week is what is expected with the band - so that can be 5 to 10 lbs a month - One month you might lose 8 then the next 10 - I never had a monthly goal - just as long as each week was a loss I was happy - i got to goal 1 yr 1 week out 100 lbs gone - so that averaged 8.33 lbs a month..

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Happy Halloween I went to a friends house for dinner last night - It was nice to get out - but she had this banana cream nutbread - OMW to die for I really mean that - but only had 1.5 slice... Kathy - Yep you can't be too tight - you have to beable to eat - I am glad you are feeling better - but stay away from the bread :0) Apple - Have fun with your son !!!! I am going to miss having my GD this yr since they moved... Last yr her mom worked so I took her tricker treating... She was only 3 and a little shy - this yr she will be hell on wheels... Lynn - 1 or 2 mini candy bars isn't going to make you gain even 1 lbs - so allow yourself just 2 - eat slowly and enjoy. Last October I had a few mini candy bars - I weighted 206.5 last halloween and this yr I weight 139.5 - so a couple of little candy bar every now and then isn't going to derail you... Remember you still have a life to live and it includes treats - this isn't a diet but a new way of life - in our past life we ate the whole bag of candy - in our new life we just have a couple of pieces and are happy.. Denise - Glad to hear you are better - that happen to my bff the other week - vertigo - they gave her some meds and she's ok now.. Ok I gotta get back to work.. TTYL

That was so sweet.. I haven't gotten my candy yet - will go and get some after work - i bet I will have tons of kids cuz it's Friday... It's ok to have 1 or 2 even 3 of 4 of the mini candy bars but no more than that LADIES... I had written a longer post - but it got lost in cyperspace... Well I will ck back later... Have a Safe Halloween....

    I'm here to help...

Hey there Mzmowil - I am sorry for your struggles... Here's my thoughts... Being too tight = relying on your band to do the work for you by FORCING you not to be able eat good healthy foods (hard proteins) - which in turn is working against you as you are not making this a true lifestyle change in your eating habits... Also, being too tight can cause the slippage & erosion problems. I have always been able to eat 1 to 1/2 cups of food per meal - I eat hard Proteins (meat/fish/chicken) I follow a weight watcher food plan - which allows for carbs (I have to have some) I have truly made this about eating healthy not dieting.. I can't say that I would be where I am today without my band - cuz it does make me feel physically (not always mentally) full on a smaller portion of food. But I do feel that I have done 75% of the work by changing my eating habits and exercising and the band has done the other 25%.. In being so tight that you can't truly eat real regular healthy foods and you are relying on your band to do 75% of the work Your band is should only be used as a tool - you gotta make this a lifetime change in the way you look and and relate to food.. I can't stress enough - that you really do have to make this a lifestyle change in your eating - not just restriction. I have said many times before that I can eat my dinner (4 oz of fish - 1/2 c rice - 1/2 c veggies) and be physically full - but mentally I am still hungry. I can not imagine only being able to eat 1/2 c of food per meal and that on top of the amount only to be able to eat soft food.. So for me - Yes my weight loss has been about the restriction that is provided by the band - but have I changed my thinking about why and what I eat and have added exercise in to my daily life. I was banded as I wanted to extend life (health) and the being thin is really icing on the cake to me... I am the same me inside - pple keep saying how tiny I am - it's not about how tiny I am but how good I feel now. I just lost my brother 2 weeks ago - before I would have turned to food to soothe my feelings - now I look at it totally differently - I know that food isn't the answer to my problems - it's no longer my drug of choice - Doesn't mean that I am not tempted at times to eat that candy - but I know that if I do it on a daily basis - and quit going to the gym - I am going to get fat again and I don't want that... I have worked to damn hard to get where I am at - to go back to where I was... IMHO you don't need to be as tight as you were - you need to pull on those bootstraps and move forward - You need to learn to eat healthy and not diet - Follow the banders rules - hard Protein 1st then veggies and carbs if any room left, small bites - eat slowly - chew well and no drinking before or after meals for at least 30 minutes Eat your 3 meals (low fat/low sugar) and 2 healthy snack - keep a food diary/log your calories keep them between 800 -1200 in the weight loss phase and exercise. If you do all this you will get back on track - you can do it!!!!!!.... You just have to get your mind back in the game... Now don't think about it (getting back on track) - just do it - one day at a time - one foot in front of the other... We are here for you.. Hugs - Janet

Yep it sounds crazy that you are suppose to stay on that kind of diet for maintinance... I have always eaten more than 1/2 cup per meal - and my doc allows healthy snackes. What I truly have done is just added Snacks between bf - lunch and lunch and dinner and maybe one extra one after dinner. In the weight loss phase I really didn't eat snacks during the day - saved them for nights.. I was very afraid of maint in the beginning - but now I am ok with it - if I want a cookie or cake - once in a while - I will have it - mind you I really don't keep the stuff in the house - but if I want something I will have it.. I want to eat normally -- and that means all kinds of foods ... Well, gang I am going to a gf house for dinner with her and her dh & ds - so I most likely won't be back til tomorrow... Have a good evening...
