Hey Pinki - I am in Indio just a few miles east of Palm Desert - Phyl is in Sky Valley.. Where are your orginally from?? I found lbt 5/14/07 and yep it has provided me with a wealth of information and support - it's my transfer addiction. -
Beachlover - yep I totally get it about the weight loss so many pple here think that they should be losing 20 lbs a week - we aren't bypass girls - and heck they don't lose it that fast either. It's cuz compared to what we use to eat and lack of exercise - we think it should be falling off with how little we eat now and the exercise that we are doing.. And that gets some in a funk that its not coming off super fast - but like I alway say the turtle won the race not the hare. I just don't want you to be dissappointed when it's 1 lbs or 2 lbs or even 1/2 lbs in a week - Suggestion here - dont get on the scales every day - I picked thrusday (the day I got home from the hospital) and that was my weigh in day - yes I would get on it some times during the week but the only day that counted was Thrusdays... I did pretty good about not getting on daily - it was to discourgaing as one day down 2 next up 3 - so I really really believe in once a week - i still weigh in every thursday...
-
Donna I understand the busy at work that will be me next week getting my desk ready for vacation the week after Thanksgiving.. Plateau - Vary your calories - cut the carbs and increase the exercise.. I guess I was so very lucky I never hit one - well one week I didn't lose anything but that was it.. For me I think it was the exercise that helped me.. I think my body really needs it..

JoannMarie - Well said - That what I worry about is why were their licenses revoked her suregon sounds ok - but the business sounds fishy...

Charlene Congrats on your fill & droppage of the lbs.. WTG !! I pray my job is safe - not too worried I've been there almost 30 yrs so the lower ones would go 1st - heck last oct they laid off 5 pple at my office.. So ya times are tough - but tougher for us older ones - Orea - Hugs & More prayers for you and Long DH too,, ------------------------------------------------- Well I am limited to what I can do right now - my carpets got cleaned today and they are still wet - so here I sit in the back yard on my laptop (don't know howto use it - it was my bro's so this is a 1st for me) Guess what I came home to - BROWNIES... My gs made them - they are my weakness but these don't have walnuts so they aren't to too tempting but tempting none the less - so I put them in baggies and put them in his room.. As I alway say advoidance works best for me even today.. Well cbl.... Hugs -
Kari Glad you are back - I love it when pple post it gives me something to do - you all know that sometimes I have no life other than you guys Well gues what I came home to.... Beside's wet carpet... and can't move the furniture back until tomorrow (all my living room furniture is around my kitchen walk way) Brownies - I guess GS wanted brownies so a batch is sitting in the kitchen - Understand that brownies are one of my most fav things especially the batter... Well #1 they have no walnut so that's a plus but they are still tempting me so I cut them up and put them in baggies and put them in his room.. I did keep one out - but I have already had a cookie today - oatmeal raisin (fiber ) so who knows if I will eat it or not.. I did have a lite breakfast 140 cal - lunch a mex shrimp cocktail so maybe 250 max - really only at the shrimp and then the cookie - I will guess 500 so that's 890 that leaves me 610 for the rest of the night I am on my laptop on the back patio - cuz I can't put the office chair at my desk with the wet carpet. Well I need to go call Phyl to get directions to her house tomorrow.. So will cbl,, Candice WHERE IN THE HELL ARE YOU.. Now that I yelled at you I hope nothing major is wrong - Hope your Mom is ok.. Karri - we didn't get your work emails today... but you know we have your personal - if you guys dont have it pm me and I will give it to you,.. Heck I have her # too.. but can't get to my other computer right now.. Our baby girl needs our love and support ladies.. Ok bbl

Erica Now this is just my thoughts - I am far from being a medical expert ok - This is just me a plan old person who graudated from Amistad  Since you are from Indio - you may know the high school. So I don't want you to take my words as gospel here ok.. It's important that he has done the surgery before which he has and that he know's how to place the band and stich it to your stomach - .. You are comfortable with him. You do have to take into consideration the $$ - Look at all the pple who go to Mexico - I don't think these doc's are board certified - I can't tell you if my Doc was/is board certified (but I think he is)- I didn't even check that part - I ck'd to see if he had any malpratic suits but didn't find any.. I know he is on my Blue Cross Plan but I didn't even ask how many lapbands he had done (he was primarly a bypass doc) - I figured if he knew how to do those he could do my band - he was covered under my insurance. That's what I cared about and I was very comfortable with him... I would be concerned about doctors getting their licenses revoked. The slippage issue can be because the pple didn't follow the diet and it could be cuz the band wasn't properly placed... This is a very hard one - This doc hasn't had any problems with his license has he??? Can't you find another doc within your insurance plan?? Sound like Dr Billy is out of network for you and that's why your insurance will only pay 70% I don't think you are crazy at all - but I wouldn't rush into anything - I would do some more research on this Dr S and see if you can talk to his patients - Most of the doc's now adays are on the lapband wagon for the insurance $$$ - What kind of care do they provide - just surgery - how about nutrition etc.. This is tough - Ladies what do you all think...

Speaking of not posting - We haven't seen you in a while Donna... Where have you been and what are you up too...

Kathy - Hugs - one day at a time.. I hate saying this but that's pretty selfish of your mom - I am sorry about that if you didn't live a world away I would have come and seen you in the hosiptal... Rose - Great Pic's - Good Job - Keep it up... Victoria - as you have already been told - call your doc and get an unfill - you are too tight - not good .... You need to be able to eat and drink.. Lynn - Our bands are fickle - I haven't had a fill since 1/08 and some days my band is tighter than others - somedays I eat too fast - somedays I don't chew as well as I should and somedays - I take one bite to many cuz the food taste good and I want more... Orea - Hugs GF - I will say some prayers for you & your family.. I could imagine how scary this is for you - Relapse prevention: everyone Nourish yourself physically, emotionally and spiritually. Accept that everyone has needs, legitimate needs, and you don't need to be ashamed of yours. Learn how to meet your needs in healthy, responsible ways. If you make yourself feel needy, you will be tempted to look for comfort in diet books or the refrigerator. Especially make sure that every day you spend time with friends. In person is best, but phone calls and e-mail are better than nothing. Also every day spend time doing things you are good at, things you can take pride in, things that demonstrate your competency and abilities. Allow yourself to enjoy your accomplishments and refuse to listen to the nagging inner voice that insists you could do better if only you tried harder. Schedule something to look forward to every day, something that's fun and pleasurable. Watch comedy videos and laugh out loud at outrageous jokes. Play something -- a board game, a computer game, a musical instrument, tapes or CDs. Go outside and enjoy the birds, trees, flowers, and fresh air. If you live in the middle of a big city, go to a park. Make something with your own hands. Figure out how to give yourself a fun break from the daily routine, and then do it. Keep tabs on your feelings. Several times during the day, especially in the first stages of recovery, take time out and ask yourself how you feel. If you notice rising stress, anger, anxiety, fear, sadness -- and even strong joy -- be alert to the possibility that you may try to dull these strong emotions by turning to, or away from, food. Find a better way of dealing with your feelings such as talking them over with a trusted friend. Do something meaningful every day, something that gives you a sense of having made the world a better place, if only in some small way. If you do this consistently, you will build a sense of your dignity, value and ability to make a difference in your world. The 12-step folks have a useful formula. When they feel on the verge of falling into old behaviors, they say HALT! Then they ask, "Am I too Hungry, too Angry, too Lonely, or too Tired?" All of those states are strong binge triggers. Additional triggers for people with eating disorders seem to be Boredom and Unstructured time. If you find yourself stressed by any of these feelings, figure out a healthier and more effective way of dealing with them than binge eating or starving. -

CONGRATS ON YOUR 22 LBS :w00t: But I want you to remember that the weight loss will slow some so don't get discouraged ok - you didn't get fat overnight and it's not going to come off overnight - i know that we expect it to - but it doesn't work that way :tt1: I like your calorie - but also want you to vary them each day and every couple of weeks increase your speed and time on the treadmill.. I did this and I never hit a plateau - maybe I was just lucky - I don't know but that what I did.. Just my 2 cents  Kay Hi and Welcome - I lost 100% of my excess weight in 1 yrs time I started at 250 I was 52 yrs old - 5'4- was banded 7/17/07 and after one year 1 week - my scales read 150... I am now between 138-140 and very happy - feel 10 yrs younger and have tons more energy. You can lose however much you want to - it's up to you not the band.. The band is only a tool to restrict your portions - you choose what you eat and how much exercise you do - it's all about calories in vs calories out.. This is a lifetime lifestyle change in your eating - the band makes the hard job of lossing weight a little easier but the work will be up to you.. CONGRATULATIONS LORI - WTG GIRL - YOU ARE AMAZING My drivers license said 130 when I when I weight 250 - heck I am not 130 now - but close - so I finally caught up to my dr - and my pic is from 95 almost 14 yrs old - so I had a diff hair style and look way younger - for the last 14 yrs renewed by mail...

Ok I am on a roll here - Karri LBT is what helps keep me honest with myself - I can't give advice without following it myself. I think this goes for you too as you don't strike me as being a hypocritical person... You do what you say and you say what you do... xoxo Mom

Steph - I agree w/you - Dr Janet AKA Mom - thinks it may be blood pressure too - but again I don't have a license  I don't eat perfect all the time but I do most of the time but again - I don't have a DH and house full of kids and I don't like fast food - never did.. Kari - Yep your stuff isn't boring it's your life - I report boring crap every day all day... I just post what's going on - you guys are my DH If I remember correcly Car is from France??? or some place over there in europe... Congrats on your NSV !!!! - Now take your wedding set and get them sized... Steph - Men - eat rocks and die - I think men have it made - we work come home take care of kids house cook - the just eat and but their feet up.. . That's my girl !!!! You should have seen the smile on my face when I saw that you had Posted this morning :cursing: Peer Pressure - I have pple telling me to eat more toO - I just look at them and laugh... I eat normal (well a little on the small side) portion sizes.. I eat 3 meals most days (maybe not on the weekends) I eat snacks every night - that includes a sherbet ice cream cone.. Also, most of these pple telling me to eat or making statements that I eat like a bird are over weight themselves - so what the heck do they know about eating healthy... I know what works for me - Yep I will have a taste every now and then but if it taste too good (like that banana cream bread at my gf house a few weeks ago) I just say HELL NO - NO MORE !!! As I said last night you know we are all here for you and we will get you thru this... You know what needs to be done - and you deserve to be healthy - You deserve to feel good about yourself - their is nothing wrong with having pride in your accomplishments - You have every right - you are a valuabe person and their is nothing wrong with putting yourself 1st Never ever deprive yourself of good-tasting food, even if it has more fat and calories than "safe" diet foods. If you refuse to eat appealing foods that you really want, you will feel deprived and crave them. Then you are vulnerable to bingeing. Remember Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden? The one food they were not supposed to eat was the one they could not stay away from. Until you have achieved some balance and perspective, stay away from temptation. Don't go to all-you-can-eat salad bars. If ice cream is a binge trigger, don't keep it in your freezer. When you want potato salad, for example, or rocky road ice cream, go to a sit-down restaurant and order a single portion, ideally as part of a balanced meal. By doing so, you accomplish three things. You avoid depriving yourself. You avoid the urges to binge created by deprivation, and you also learn how to integrate normal food into a reasonable and healthy meal plan. When you do feel powerful urges to binge, postpone the act for thirty minutes. Surely you can wait half an hour. During that time think about what is going on in your life. What stresses are you facing? What is missing right now from your life that you need in order to be happy and avoid the looming binge? Make a list of things you could you do instead of binge eating to deal with your situation. If you are truly committed to recovery, at least some of the time you will choose one of these healthier behaviors instead of binge food. Take charge of your life. Stop using words like, "I wish," "I want," "I hope," and "I can't." They are weak victim words. Say instead things like, "I choose," even if you are choosing to binge. Say, "I will," . These are words that express responsibility, power, and control. If you can choose to binge, then by implication at some future time you can choose NOT to binge. and then choose a healthier and more effective way to deal with whatever is going on in your life. Ok the above is about relapsing - I read that you can't have recovery without a relapse - it's normal - we aren't going to change our habits in just 1 yr - this is no diff than any other addiction it's going to be a lifetime battle for us - we do have to keep our guard up alway... Hugs - Off to work... CBL

Hello Ladies What's going on tonite - everyone busy... My GS surprised me tonite - they are coming to clean the carpets tomorrow and I came home already to move furniture - but guess what he moved it all already. Wasn't that nice.. I am loading pic's on to those little digital photo thingies and thought I would ck in and see what everyone was doing tonite and how their day went.. I went to chineese for lunch - couldn't eat it - it was city wok beef - to tough almost like Jerky - but I can eat jerky... don't know what I am going to eat for dinner but I need something.. but since i am on the computer not really hungry - when I am busy - I don't think about food.. But I need to eat.. I have my fish but don't really feel like it - but I guess in a bit I will - Well just cking in - will cbl...
-
Ok does that mean that you can't go 5 hrs without eating??

:thumbup:CONGRATULATION PHYL  :waytogo::cursing::woot::eek: WTG GIRL - ALMOST 100 ONLY 3 TO GO - SO PROUD OF YOU !!! I'm with you on the whole $$ issue - yes I like having it - but it's not the 1st and foremost thing on my mind - with this whole auto problem - I was want to sell and move to cash - but I know my broker will say no way - but I am still working so it's a bit diff for me - but I can't think or worry about it 24/7 it would drive me crazy..
-
Lori - I crochet - a friend just gave me a whole bunch of pretty yellow yarn.. It's a great thing to keep your hands busy. Once my gf dad tried to show me how to knit - I ended up corcheting with knitting needles Hope the injections work !!! and your blood work comes out good.. Phyl - yep the one I got last night (filet migon) had 2 small ones and 1 medium and 1 big one - which will be about 2 meals... I like your bracelet but heck I need one with diamonds  OMG 15 degree - it's 84 here - gotta brag a little - this is why Phyl lives here in the winter :cursing: Cindy not overwhelmed at all.. Here for you 100% - you will find that everyone on this thread will be here for you - I am just the longest banded here (Phyl is right behind me we are both Lucky #7's) You are too tight if you can only eat soft food. Go and get some taken out. You can not live on soft food and you are right most soft foods aren't really the best for you (well execpt veggies) You need to be able to eat hard Proteins (meat - chick - fish etc) Real food... I eat almost every kind of food - some days my band is a little fickled but most it isn't. I eat rice and Pasta with no problems As I have said before we can not rely on our bands 100% to lose the weight for us - I know that alot of pple like having their band so tight that they can't eat - well - that's not healthy IMHO - it's only a tool - you have to live with this band for the rest of your life and to do that you have to be able to eat real food - not just soft. Give me a typical daily menu - Whats your exercise. Are you following bander rules - eating slowly - small bites - chewing - no drinking with meals... Really call your doc today and schedule to have some taken out - you should be able to eat at least 3-4 oz of meat for lunch and dinner and then some veggies and starches if any room.
-
Ellen I don't think that we can't get a NG Tube at all - but that they will have to be very careful and aware that you are banded - if that happend again (God willing it never will) they could unfill your band and then insert the tube - but they need to know that you are banded and that special consideration is needed - they just can't go stick in the tube... I didn't mean to alarm anyone - it's just something that was told to me by doc office cuz they have the order forms for the bracelets to and I read about it on LBT when us July babies 1st started our journey...

Productive Burp - a burp w/food. Exercise - just do it - get on the bike - do your 2 minutes - then the next hour get back on and do 2 more so on and so forth and then next week increase it to 3 minutes - slowly increase time and intensity... It gets easier as the weight comes off Kathy Hugs - OMW you have had/have some struggles - My GD & DS have had MIRSA.. It's a bad bad thing... Having all the responsiblities that you have is tough... Hugs.. Take care of you the best that you can - and just explain to Mum & Dad you need help - do you have any other family to help you out.. -
Good Morning Gang.... Ended up at Costco last night :w00t: Got my scallops that I went for then... Shrimp - Filet Migon - New Alex Cross Book - size 4 cords - veggies - $102 later but heck that's not that bad for 6 items and I will have dinner for 18 nights and looking hot in these cords if I do say so myself... You know me - I love to toot my own horn:lol: My calories were a little low yesterday - but going out to lunch today w/lady who retired last yr. Chineese... Carpets getting cleaned tomorrow so I will have to go home and move furniture - get stuff off the floor and vacuum :tt2: so it will be a busy night... Steph - Just hope that you find out what's causing these attacks.. I wonder what Earl's going to say when I keep picking at the cake :0)... Yep I will keep him busy.. But not to busy cuz she has a goal to meet  Well, just cking in as usual in the a.m. My gosh we are shrinking... Ruby, Karri, Linda MIA... I have emailed them.. Candice - How's it going are you avoiding me - Accountablity!!!! Kari - since we are shrinking you gotta quite lurking and post more - even if its the boring stuff like mine - How's the grandkids... DH.... Denise - Yo... Hope those kids and their parents don't drive you crazy.. Only 1 more day :frown: Carolyn - How's our computer lady this morning?? Well off to see what's on my desk for today.. Oh ya - did someone say something about me seeing the ps and saying how brave I was - I am far from brave - I don't like pain - I am getting price on the works - but seriouly most likely will just get arms done. I would have to stay in one of those recuprerating places for a week cuz it's too far to drive and I don't think GS would be a good nurse and that's not his job anyway.. We will see... Who knows if it's a great deal I may - but with this market situation - who knows I havent looked at my profolio in a couple months - am afaird to at this time - my thought sell everything and get the cash out and wait for it to bounce back in the yr 2010... But I know what my broker will say... But I am getting more nervouse as I don't think we have hit rock bottom yet.. cbl....
-
Becky Congratulation 50 lbs in 5 months Fantastic - WTG Kjillcar is who you are talking about her and Lori were the one of the 1st 2 to post on this thread... PJ - I think the Trinity River Runs on the side of her apt - you see a river when you look out her window - It's on Texas St - it's about 30 minutes from DFW airport if I remember correctly.. NG tube is what they stick down your nose into your stomach usually it's for a feeding tube but they use it to pump your stomach too and I read that the can give you meds that way also... They can put a hole in your stomach cuz now we have little passage way... I posted when I got home from the gym at 6 but I guess the cyper post ghost stole it.. I left and went to costco and got some scallops for dinner - then had to p/u some shrimp then some Filet migon - a new alex cross book and some aspraguas (sp) and a pair of size 4 cords. - $102 later I am home - but heck the steak will make 6 meals $3.33 for filet migon ain't bad.. Same goes for the scallops most likely 6 or 7 meals $2,86 ish - Shrimp about 7 meals $1.71ish - Asparagus $2 per meal - so not that bad Well it's 8:27 and I am hungry - so going to go cook Scallop cooked in a little butter with garlic - lean cusine feticunnie alfread - then cut the scallops up and put in the fetticunie (less the oil) - its an excellent fast dinner Talk to you all tomorrow
-
Phyl - I know :0).... But really I see you talking about all this bandwith stuff and browers before - I really don't know about it :0) Steph - I have a gf who has low blood pressure but not as low as yours. You are having issues - they better figure out what's up... Just throw your tester in your purse eat somethng every few hours.. and keep us posted Candice - you haven't been posting your calories - whats up girl friend... you got 3 weeks.. Just got back from the gym - I am pooped but I didn't eat a good lunch - just some steak maybe 2 oz and a granola bar around 3 - yogurt and granola for bf... GS has pizza but I don't feel like pizza - I want some scalllops in my lean cusine fetuccunti alfredo - maybe I'll go to costco it's only 6:13 - or just cook my catfish, rich and spinach.. Who knows..
