Baby Girl what did you get stuck on - you can't pb ??? I am lucky - if i get stuck - I can usually bring it back up... Infact I got stuck on carrots last night they were soft but ate too fast and didn't chew well enough... Are you ok now?? New Years Eve - on we will want to know how it went.. Kari - you need those thing they sell on QVC that you put over your shoes to keep you from falling on I - :biggrin: - Glad you are ok.... Steph - I thought you were mad at us or something - Where did you go???

Good Morning Ladies -Sorry I was MIA yesterdays - I read but didn't have time to post.. Then last night went to see gf who's dh has blood clots in his lungs - ended up staying for dinner didn't get home till like 8. Oh ya I bp'd on carrots - I usually am very careful when I am out - the carrots were soft just ate too fast and didn't chew. Lori -CONGRATULATIONS.... Becky - I am glad that you are going gym after the first - IMHO I think we need to increase the intensity or length of time we exercise (there are 2 school of thoughts on this one - you burn more calories in a shorter time when you increase intensity - where as you can still burn 300 calories but gotta work out for longer at a slower speed).. Also - I do have days that I don't get my veggies in - but you know what now - after a day or two of not having them I really do crave them - veggie of the month for me is spinach... Joann - How are you doing??? Have you moved to soft foods yet - I had to do 10 days each stage.. Oh I just looked at calendar you have only been banded 13 days.. Well I know you are on mushies - so your doc is diff - but that's not unusual :;0) I will food shop this weekend for Xmas - We would normally have tamales Xmas Eve but since the kids have to leave Xmas day - I think we will have a nice Prime Rib dinner Xmas Eve - I think my shopping is done - need to get gift cards - but may just give cash - will see how the weekend goes. Well it's 8 gotta get to work - cbl - promise:tongue:

Hey Gang... I guess I didn't post yesterday at all - can't beleive that one.. Sunday I napped and did nothing... Yesterday busy at work with 1/1 renewals - then gym and after gym went to Marshall's & Target - didn't get home til 7 cooked dinner for Andrew & Me and then just watched tv - Denise - I had gall bladder issues back in 85 - and mine hurt me exactly where yours is hurting you... Weight loss will prompt gall bladder issues (you never talk about that - how are you doing in that department) - my GF who had bypass was given medicine to prevent hers from acting up.. A/c on:eek: - I'm with Phyl - sweater - warm pj - loving this cold weather... Donna - Glad that you are doing so well - it really helps when you get to your sweet spot.. Karri - How long will you be in Vegas.. Ok I gotta get my butt in gear - will CBL :blushing:

Good Morning Gang... Well I can't compete with the minus degree weather - but I live in the desert and it's raining today and @ 11:30 it's only 46 degrees - Cold for us :0).... Lori - How did the weigh in go - I would use your regular weigh in day as what goes on your ticker... Fingers crossed Apples - Your dog eats popcorn Glad you had a good time at the wedding - I know that I enjoy it when I see my Son dressed up too... Becky This is why I say stay off the scales - I am too felt like you - that this whole weight loss thing was totally unbeleivable... I was just like you waiting for the shoe to drop and the weight loss to stop.. But you know what it didn't - the only thing I would say is that you need to increase your exercise some - you have been walking 2.4 miles for a while now - and with your extra treats - just add 15 minutes to eack walk... There are days now that I might not get my veggies in - heck for the last 2 nights I have had chili - no veggies there - tonite I am back to my fish rice and veggies.. If there is no hair in your brush don't sweat it - and if there is increase your intake of fat some - my hairdresser says it's the lack of fat in our diets - I had a gf who did medifast and she lost tons of hair - so it's not the Protein issues - I agree with my hair dresser - it's the lack of fat issue - and since I am a lover of anything with fat/oil/butter etc - I still get enough and haven't had any problem with hair loss. Also I agree with Apples no unplanned treats -no impluse treats - I too plan mine - ie - none of the treats here in the office - so that I can have some next week with GD's... I was at Target on Saturday - I love white choc - i almost (on impluse) got a white kit kat & white reese candy bars - I hadn't eaten all day - well that would have been 440 calories on 2 stupid candy bars - well I put them back - wasn't worth it - If you knew the caloires in that cookie dough I bet you might not eat it.. Kathy Glad you made it home safely - I was thinking about that last night :0)

Karri - I have been up since 5 - didn't sleep well - not enough fluids yesterday - had leg cramps all night.. Hope you get your wii fit - I have seen them here (well a week or so ago) Hope you get it... 18 degrees - it's 43 here at 6:56 a.m.

Congrats girl on your 128 loss - that's fantastic!! On the restriction issue - I have never been so thigh as not able to eat all kinds of foods - For me I didn't want to be that tight and also I am lucky that I really don't find that my band is tigher in the morning than at night - the only thing that tightens my band is exercise and stress.. I can eat about 1 to 1 1/2 cups per meal - and I am fine with that and I have been able to maintain my weight and for me that's what my band is for to help me maintain a healthy weight... I think it's really up to you - if you so tight that you can't ejoy hard protiens in normal portions (3 -4 oz) and some veggies and maybe a few bites of a starch I would say have some taken out.. But if you are thinking about having some taken out cuz you are at goal and think now that OH I can eat again cuz I have lost the weight (this has been my thinking at times - I have thought about having a tad taken out - and truly I am at a perfect spot and this is why I was banded for the portion control issues) - so think long and hard why you want some taken out - is it cuz you want to eat more now that you are at goal or is it cuz you really can't eat regular foods cuz you are too tight.. I know that some keep their bands so tight that it really forces them not to be able to eat normal and since I still like to eat both for the taste, nutrition and menatally I didn't - plus being too tight can cause problems. Just giving you my actual thought and experiences about my thinking about my band and my mental issues.. She's here she came early this year !! I didn't sleep well either last night - leg cramps - didn't get enough fluids yesterday - I was up from like 2 - 3:30 and then got up at 5 and I swear I didn't sleep between 3:300 and 5.. Flowers - I don't go to my support group - 1 cuz it's like 30 minutes away and I get home too late and for me it was about some of the newbies making excuses (not saying that you do) as to why they couldn't do this or that - plus just like any other social setting clicks form. I would say that when I went to the lapband council in June that pple who had gotten to goal hung together - and those who hadn't hung together - and each sorta poo-pooped each other.. It's life - some pple click and others don't - I perfer LBT it's been my support for the last 17 months.. Heck it's open 24/7 where support groups are like once a month -
Becky - 55 lbs in 6 months is EXCELLENT - it's not slow girl !! You are exactly where I was at last year at this time (12/13 I weighed 194.5) and you know what I thought I looked darn good at that weight.. So you are doing VERY VERY GOOD... Don't sweat the small lapses - as this is life and we aren't going to be perfect 24/7 - It' about knowing what we are doing - last year at this time - you just ate - you didn't even think about what you were eating you just ate - Now you are award of what goes in your mouth and are exercising.. Joann Yep never thought scrambled eggs tasted so good - I think we truly appreciate our food once we move into the various stages after banding - and it's more about the nurtional value that the junk - well at least for me it was - I wanted good foods - I was so tired of the shakes to much sweetness - I wanted savory foods. Yep - I think about all my LBT girls 24/7 - I have even had them in my dreams - I just love it.. We may not have met yet - but I feel that I know each of you for a lifetime.. I think that's cuz we have shared so much of ourselves here and we understand the struggles.. Like I always say - no one understands a fat chick like another fat chick...

Good Evening Ladies This is the 1st time I have sat down today - and it's 7:44 p.m. :biggrin: Went to gym @ 9 worked arms came home showered - got my boss his xmas gift - light blue sweater & yellow shrit - it should look good on him.. Picked up something for GS and a couple co-workers - Target shopping - food shopping (got the stuff to make the cookies) home - then had to haul all my bags in by myself (gs not home and it was like 4:30) Got it all put up - gave Angel a bath & blow dry - she was dirty - bear most likely is too - but he's black and Angel is white - Polished some silver and cooked GS dinner and here I sit sipping hot choc.. Oh my GD just im me - so back and forth between typing here and answering her... Ok I am losing steam now that I have sat down - I haven't even cooked yet... Ok signing off - will talk to you all tomorrow - Sweet Dream:wub:

Kari - Yes we were in TOTAL DENIAL about our weight before - as I sit here on the computer - I am looking at 3 pics of me fat - heck I look at pic's from last Xmas - when I thought I was looking pretty damn good cuz I had lost like 50 lbs - but I was still fat. I am truly now the person outside as I have always been in my head. Get your kids some p.j's and gift cards - that's what mine are getting ...' Karri - I can't be on the treadmill without my ipod either.. Heck one time I went all pumped up to work out - the stupid batteries were gone after one song - so I did 1 mile and left - I can't do the treadmill without my music - So I totally get it... Phyl sounds great - No I don't think you need splenda - but taste it - OMW you are getting like me - just throw stuff together - it comes out good - Use just a little pumpkin at first - you don't want to over power it - just keep tasting.. Well gang I am on my way out - I just got online to see if I had any $$$ since payday isn't till Monday - but looks like ck is in the bank -Thank God... Then as usually I just had to check our thread - then I just had to answer - This is why sometime I stay away - I get so caught up in LBT.. and you think a short post like this takes only 5 minutes - but it really like 15 or more... Well I gotta scoot - Marshall's Target Winco are on my list (all within 1 - 2 block from my house) - Want to hurry up and come home a read or watch a movie - make some chilli (turkey) - Its suppose to be cold & rainy for the next week - hope it stays this way until after Christmas... Good Morning Gang... Yep I am up at the crack of dawn on a Saturday (5 a.m.) my little fur babies don't know it's Saturday :cursing: I have had 1 cup coffee - fed the babies - made the bed - put a load in the wash. Hung up clothes in the closet that I had just drapped here or there... Enjoyed the full moon - the biggest one we have had since 1993 - it was closes to the earth last night.. Last night I was still hunger (mentally) after dinner - so made sf cheesecake pudding - I put a ginger snap in the bottom of the containers (I use these 1/2 c glad container) Dont' know how it will taste - but I did dip one snap into the pudding before it set and it was good - so I thought I was making little cheese cakes. I know it's weird but sometime just making something I think I want - will take away the urge to eat - I made them - then went and watched some tv and read and the next thing I knew I was sleepy so went to bed - I guess I really didn't wake up during the night except to hear GS come in - saying he was home.. Gonna get the stuff and try apples Cookies this weekend - I want to make lower calorie stuff that I know I am going to eat when DIL & GD's get here for Xmas and we bake... Well, just cking in - Hope you all have a good Saturday... As usual CBL :rolleyes2:

Phyl - Yep you were busy yesterday - Glad you were down the 2 lbs - that's good - Yes the 3 others will come off with a little determination... XL way to go !!! Just think where you were a year a go - What a great job!!! There is a post on the 50 thread - (not our reg thread but a new post under the 50 tab) Can pple over 50 lose 100 lbs... Told her yes - and didn't mention you by name but refered to you as another 50+ that has lost this kind of weigh - who would have ever thunk it... That us old farts could lose this kind of weight at our age... Good Morning Gang - Yep as usual I am up at the crack of dawn - 5 a.m. and it's not a work day... Fur babies and I do have stuff to do today - just don't know where to start.. That's usually my problem - where to start.... The gym isn't til 9 - so I have a few hours to kill in the meantime... Some would question that I am professional :rolleyes2: I gotta say I am pretty disengaged with my job - I figure I am on the down hill slide of working - It's boring most days and my bosses are buffoons - But need that pay check - Insurance is a pain in the butt now a days... You thought when we got fax machines things were bad - now it's email - you have your reg paper mail - emails - faxes and everyone wanted it yesterday... Information overload I don't have any real plans - got a couple of gift to get still need to go grocery shopping - may do some wrapping but nothing really - will recharge my batteries this weekend cuz my DS & family will be here 12/21 and leave Xmas day - so I will have a house full .. Have fun at your wedding... and drive careful in that snow... Hugs - Janet

Does Banding Work if you're over 50?

I was 52 when I was banded lost 100 lbs in 1 yr 1 week and have lost another 12 since then.. The band isn't the what makes you lose the weight - it you - the band is only a tool - it helps with portion control but it doesn't make your food choices or exercise for you. It really is all about the lifetime lifestyle changes - it's about eating healthy and exercise I have a few friends over 50 and they have lost 100 lbs - it's doable if you want to accomplish that goal.. I can tell you I feel 10 yrs younger - have tons more energy and don't know why I wasted so many years being fat and telling myself I was ok with it... Good Luck on your journey........... -
After 18 months soda craving is back

I was never a big soda drinker to begin with. But every now and then I want a diet ginger ale or diet dr pepper.. What I have done is pour it into one glass then back into another back and forth til I make is almost flat - then I will have tiny sips - the carbornation makes me have the full sensation. Like I said - not a big soda drinker - may do this once every 3 months.. -
Apple Thanks for the recipe - I will try it this weekend.. Hugs on the abuse issues and childhood having to be the grown up. Yes hopefully we do break the cycle - my Mom was a little heavy handed in the spanking dept and mean mouthed. I try not to be - but I do gotta say I am a yeller like she was... Hugs - to me you sound like a strong confident woman and have made it thru your battles.. I am a commercial lines account manager for an independent agency - I have my CPIW & AU designations (for those of you not in insurance CIC means Certified Insurance Counselor - CPIW Certified Professional Insurance Woman, AU Associate in Underwriting)- was going to go for the CPCU but heck my credentials didn't impress my bosses back then - so why go thru all the work - I was in my mid 30's when I got my designations.. and am happy with them.. Yep experienced insurance pple are very hard to find..

Tabithan I love your thread and think that you are a great motivator and helper to those who are struggling... I think you have you head back in the band wagon mode and I am so happy for all of you who are re-committing yourselves to getting healthy.. So many say they didn't get banded to do another diet - well I agree cuz diets don't work - cuz when you go off them and back to eating normal you gain all your weight back cuz eating normal is what got you fat in the 1st place.. But that being said - IMHO it's all about tracking your calories - measuring your food - these are all learning tools - you won't have do them forever - just until you have learned what a normal portion size is - 1/2 c instead of a pint :wink2: It's about eating healthy (low fat - limited sugar) it's about adding exercise into your life. I got to goal using all these tools - tracking - measuring - weighing - eating healthy and exercising. I am now able to maintain by just eating healthy and exercise. You go ladies - you all can do this !!!! -
Apples I was looking for Choc Chip Cookie receipt with Splenda - I found some but they use splenda in place of white sugar only and real brown sugar - I want to use both splenda white and brown sugar - and the receipt calls for 2 sticks butter - what can I use in replacemnt of butter... Applesauce?? Do you have any receipts - and by chance the calories :0)

Lori - Congrats on the exercise !!! I do Legs on Monday - cardio on Tuesday - Arms on Wed and Cardio on Saturday. Well that's my normal schedule - but since my bro death I haven't been doing great on the cardio - I went last night though and felt so much better.. Nothing better than good songs on the ipod and a good 3 mile walk.. -
Donna - I guess I was luckier than most I was at my sweet spot with my 10/07 fill (2nd one) then had like .01 added in January 08 and nothing since... In fact sometimes I think I could use like an .01 unfill - last night after the gym came home too a big gulp of water - OMG I slimed on water.. Discomfort etc - I thought I was going to pb - but didn't just slimed.. Restriction is why we were banded - and the tool is fantastic help once it starts working... Karri - Even with restriction it's all about getting your head in the right place... As we know that candy bar is going to go down with no problems - but eating those 4 oz of meat isn't. Ya our bands are great - but like I always say - it's our heads that need the real work...

Can't beleive I missed this post - but I guess we must have posted around the same time - and then when I got on last night I just ck to see who as posted below my last post.. Insurance - OMW - same field as me - what kind - health - personal or commercial - or all of it - Plus my Dad was a Date grower - I never got in to the farming side - but have a couple of date ranches we lease out.. Apples obiviously you haven't ever played the what can I do before a weigh in at like Jenny Craig or WW to make sure the scales go down on your weigh in day... I know it's bad but can't help it - that scale is still a demon when you are in your weight loss phase and espescially if you are in a contest... I'm Bad I know it :wink: Lori OMW I couldn't get up without my coffee Ya that's a tad early even for me - I get up around 5 - have coffee - read till about 5:40 and then in the shower and out the door between 6:45 & 7 ..

Denise - How cool snow - and that you had 100 less kids - a 100 less to get in trouble :0)... Karri - Wii injury too funny - I went to the gym last night and did my 3 miles on the treadmill and even jogged twice for a few... I have been missing my treadmill session lately and find that I want to fall asleep at 7:30 if I don't go - last night got in bed around 9 but didn't get to sleep for at least and hour.. The fur babies woke me up at 1:47 - the stupid cat had been on the clock and that said 6 a.m - Heck I was rested and thought it was 6 till I went out to the kitchen and saw that it was only 1:47 - well took them out and then had to fix the clock - Guess what my newest fur babies did - this morning while getting ready she was super hyper - i heard all this noise that I thought was coming from the bedroom where I have some empty Xmas bags - well when I got up from my makeup table - guess what I discovered !!!! the whole roll of toilet paper unraveled in my bathroom bedroom.. Little witch !!! It's 54 right now - suppose to rain next week - and get to the low 60's during the day -- Yea I can wear my denim & co chenille sweater... Steph were are you - come on now you can't be that busy - you can stop in and say Hi - I am getting worried about you.. CBL

Hugs Sweetie... I am so very sorry for your loss - I know how incrediably sad you are right now. I know your pain - I lost my Daddy 16 yrs ago I want you to know that you aren't being selfish cuz you got banded - the 2 things have nothing to do with each other - how are you being selfish - your Dad would want you healthy he wouldn't want his baby girl to die from a heart attack or cancer cuz she was obese.. I know that he would want you to live your life to the very best of your ability - He would want you happy and healthy.. Time does help - you will never forget your Dad - and even 16 yrs later I still cry cuz I miss him - but I know that he would be so happy for me for having gotten healthy... and I bet your Dad felt the same way.. Hugs... Janet
